YOU MUST SEE “The Ljn Defender” series on youtube, it is absolutely incredible. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, everyone at cinemassacre check out the ljn defender, Matt Ezerp; aka cygnus destroyer. He does such a great, thoughtful, and incredibly insightful job on reviewing those games, he gives props to James/AVGN as his inspiration, and just overall rocks. And he also just hit 10,000 subscribers. Please everyone, give it a look, I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed, it honestly changed my opinion on several LJN games, i shit you not. P.S., tell him Kenny sent you

      • January 15, 2016 at 3:59 pm

OKAY MATT, we’ll go to your damn channel!

  • January 11, 2016 at 3:27 am

LJN shuttered in 1995 and this game was released under their name only by Acclaim. LJN was a wholly owned subsidiary of Acclaim.

  • January 11, 2016 at 4:03 am

Is this game for Dreamcast or Dreamcast 2000? I liked the 2000 model better. Faster modem. 30X CD Drive. Has a PSX Processor.

After LJN bites the dust, Acclaim start making crap stuff :).

  • January 11, 2016 at 4:34 am

These videos make me think you guys barley play any games lol. Have you ever played a racing game or any games really. Make me feel like im some kind of super geek compared to you guys lol.

It’s a shame the game is so dull, I actually really like the idea of an old-timey driving game. I always thought there should be a version of Grand Theft Auto set in either the 1920s or a distant Blade Runner-style future.

    • January 12, 2016 at 9:15 pm

There was some mafia type game where you had to race in the 20’s or 30’s. Lots of driving and missions on foot as well. I wish I could remember the name…

Based off your descriptions, I’m going out on a limb here: the game you’re thinking of is MAFIA, circa 2005, for the original Xbox.

        Clever title, I know.

        January 29, 2016 at 5:40 am

Guys, the game you’re talking about was Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. And it was really great! Excellent scenario and amazing atmosphere (1930’s city, cars, and jazz music on the radio [mostly Django Reinhardt]). But forget about the freeness of a GTA, it was a pretty linear game, tbh.

And, Jayram, forget about the Xbox (let alone PS2) version because it was terrible compared to the PC version, released around 2001 (if I’m not mistaken).

Alternatively, you can also try Mafia II (taking place in the 1950’s), released a few years ago, which is beautiful but very disappointing as the marketing team decided to cut through the great scenario and get rid of a huge lot of things to split the game into useless DLCs…

  • January 11, 2016 at 7:03 am

Boring? Well, for you guys, maybe. This game is clearly driving simulator, and all simulation games are like that – low action, lot of buttons, gameplay designed to by a little bit clunky. No diffrence if simulator game happen in space or race track, all have similar, “boring” gameplay. So i disagree, you cant say this game is bad, or even boring (overall). You just dont like it. Thats it.

    • Satnav

      January 11, 2016 at 10:38 am

Nah, even back in the day this game was deemed terrible for the genre by players and critics.

    • January 11, 2016 at 3:00 pm

I said in the video “even for a driving simulator its bad”.

this is whats’ wrong with the world today. Well the internet at least. Instead of merely expressing your opinion of the game, you insist James & Mike (and implying all of us) have the same opinion as you. Why are you so butthurt about this terrible game, Did someone you love die a horrible, traumatic death shitting out the final lines of code to this steamer? Spirit of Speed…? SPIRIT OF SHIT!

  • January 11, 2016 at 7:48 am

Urgh~! This game is so bad that I actually think it made this the worst video I’ve ever seen on Cinemassacre. It’s not your fault at all guys! It’s just so boring and awful.

I have a question btw, in every video, every single time Mike is talking, I notice the game ‘Clowns’ just above his head. Please. PLEASE! Review that game or at least talk about it a little bit.

Have you guys considered Return Fire on 3DO for J&MM?
It’s a pretty fun split screen versus game. (it was also released on PC)

I dont get what that was supposed to be, seriously

  • January 11, 2016 at 10:36 am

You guys should give Driver 2 on PS1 a try. At least for this or AVGN. The game is hard as fuck and has a lot of glitches in it. My car has straight fallen through the ground for no reason before. Also, give survival mode a try with invulnerability on. You have to beat the game in order to unlock the cheats and all secret vehicles. It’s better than this shit load of fuck you reviewed, just very hard and cheap at some points.

  • January 11, 2016 at 11:49 am

What?! Why couldn’t this be an AVGN topic?

    • January 11, 2016 at 11:52 am

Never mind. Guess they couldn’t say much. The LJN Defender has a bit more to say.

  • NashKnight

    January 11, 2016 at 2:32 pm

This is actually a decent racing game. I prefer Mille Miglia (another vintage cars racer), but this one is pretty good too.

  • Brent Rowland

    January 11, 2016 at 6:55 pm

Isn’t LJN just a producer? i think Rare made the nightmare on elm street game, didn’t they?

    • January 11, 2016 at 7:23 pm

Yes LJN’s video games part was nothing but part of an odler company to get pass Nintendo’s old 5 games an year rule.

Man I loved my SEGA Dreamcast ,, it had so much potential ..

    • January 12, 2016 at 2:16 am

Shenmue, Powerstone, so many fantastic titles!
My friends and I would spend hours of 4 player Wacky Races and fought over who got the good controller – Dick Dastardly was not allowed he was appropriately enough considered cheating,

      LOVED ME THE DREAMCAST!

  • January 12, 2016 at 2:13 am

Can you imagine someone actually buying this piece of shit?

LJN should have made a game called Frankestein, where they put all the worst parts of all games in one guy. If they, eventually, made already one, there´s always the sequel…
