Mike Matei / November 30th, 2015
This week James and Mike play Resogun on PS4. Resogun is a side-scrolling shoot em’ up heavily inspired by the arcade classic Defender!

Awesome review! Was this a disc or download game? And which company developed this? Was it Sony?
November 30, 2015 at 8:22 pm
It’s a download only game by Housemarque, as far as I know it is only available on PS4.

Why this boring Defender clone?
November 30, 2015 at 2:09 am
Have you tried Defender for the Playstation 2?
November 30, 2015 at 3:14 am
Judging by the looks and sounds of this game I bet it’s from the same people who made Super Stardust on PS3; I loved that game and was even in the top 100 with a friend in the co-op highscore and did pretty well when they added the survival mode.
November 30, 2015 at 4:43 am
Wow, PS4? This is the future!
November 30, 2015 at 6:59 am
Try Aqua Kitty – Milk Mine Defender similar concept but with…ah who cares title says all 😛

I remember playing this when there was nothing else in the PS4 library. Not the best of times, but pretty nice to look at.

Top ten game where you pick people up? Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker.
November 30, 2015 at 1:14 pm
Was this a sponsored review/gameplay vid? If so, i think you should leave an indicator that is. Don’t really like watching biased stuff like this honestly.
Just wondering because it really felt like one.
December 1, 2015 at 12:47 am
It’s “biased” because they used to love Defender. Relax!
November 30, 2015 at 1:15 pm
Holy shit this looks awesome! Also one of the rare J&MM’s where Mike was actually pretty amiable, so another check for awesomeness!
November 30, 2015 at 4:56 pm
Nice this is a good game, not sure if you guys have tried stardust it’s by the same developer and it pretty much an asteriods reboot.
November 30, 2015 at 5:56 pm
this game is soo addicting love it and i like the pixels when the shit explodes also the sound effects that come out of the controller makes it soo much more enticing and sucks you in another good one to review if you guys get a chance rocket league for the ps4 that game has a simple concept its soccer with cars the cars are fully customisable and you get like boosts you can use and can run into each other and blow each other up kinda like a mix up of twisted metal meets soccer

Shoot em ups are my favorite and that game looks pretty tight. The shit they can do on systems these days is fucking awesome. It only takes a game like this to impress me. I’m old school if you can’t tell.

Top ten games where you pick someone up? Gotta include Jackal for the NES!! That’s one of the best two player co-ops on the NES, loved that one!!
December 2, 2015 at 12:25 pm
Okay. You guys play a PS4 game, which is based on anAtari game, but skipped over the PS3/360 version of Splatterhouse, after playing the original three??? C’mon, guys!!!
December 4, 2015 at 7:59 pm
Hey I wanted to hear you guys talk about the game Defender for a while now. That was the game that I felt I could of been the best player and might have had the record on it. Well the Atari version. I sat home one day playing that game for hours straight almost all day long. I can’t remember how long but it was really long. Anyway I ended up beating it or I think I did. I made it all the way past level 99 and it actually goes back to level 1 but I wasn’t sure if you had to keep playing or not but I remember when it went back to level 1 it was sorta easy again and I kept going to like level 10 then I was like I am going to to stop because I had no reason to do it again. I forget my score or if it resetted back to 0 after 99 but I sorta wish that I recorded it cause to this day I have no idea if anyone else has ever done that. Does anyone else know if someone has?

Omg.. that soundtrack.. that SOUNDTRACK!! o.O .. *pouncing on over at my PS4 to download this right now*

Hey, sometime in the future, could you guys try out Rez for the PS2 or Dreamcast on J&MM? Resogun reminds me of Rez, except with better graphics. It’s kinda rare to find and is kinda expensive, but if you guys manage to get your hands on it, give it a shot.
September 25, 2016 at 4:15 am
They had Defender for PS1. Don’t know if they made any after that. This Resogun looks pretty cool, though. Heh, I like the Strike games.
