    Another bootleg, huh?

    • October 1, 2015 at 7:52 am

That Van Damme is from Street Fighter the movie.

      October 1, 2015 at 5:53 pm

Not only that but ANOTHER Famicom game….

  • September 28, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Kinda thought it looked like Codename: Viper but wasn’t sure (it’s been a few years) until you said so. πŸ™‚

Still hoping for a “Shower with Dad” review, though. πŸ˜›

You’re absolutely right. That game was also a knockoff of the arcade game Rolling Thunder.

  • Kevin77

    September 28, 2015 at 1:16 pm

It looks as though they used Rolling Thunder to create this game.

  • marc_lawson

    September 28, 2015 at 1:18 pm

    It’s Rolling Thunder – definitely

Super Morial Arms is the Famicom game Ningen Heiki Dead Fox (same game as Code Name – Viper). Code Name – Viper wasn’t a bad of a game, but it was very repetitious. You also needed to press up into the rotating walls in order to get items and rescue people.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was in the arcade game “Street Fighter: The Movie”.

There was a Steven Seagal game being made by TekMagic SNES called “Steven Seagal is The Final Option”, but it was scrapped. There was a prototype version that has two levels:

Oh hell yeah! James & Mike Monday’s! Another great video guys. Any chance you will play some Dreamcast games soon? Would love to see you guys play Zombie Revenge, Confidential Mission or 18 Wheeler.

I’m right with you guys, here. Never heard of Super Morial arms or Codename: Viper. Whatever you call it, this one slipped under the radar for me. Guess I was too busy playing Mario to notice! πŸ™‚

I have been watching these videos since I was 13 years old. I am 22 now. Can you please do one more AVGN like some from the golden age of the show. Just do it exactly the same one more time. Just do one final truly great episode in the style of some of the older ones, with the creativity and love you had back then. It’s funny because this show has reached a point of nostalgia for me and the show is about nostalgia. Can you take me back to the past? Thanks James.

Totally agree. Nerd has gone by the wayside. And the newer ones seem to have lost the “anger” the golden years had.

        September 29, 2015 at 1:59 pm

I agree, it’s not the same. But by the same token, James is in a different place than he was back then, and I think that’s reflected in his work. On the other hand, James said in the Metroid vids that Board James is his passion, and I think it shows. He puts more effort into those ones than AVGN. Having said that, the recent AVGN vids have been better.

    September 28, 2015 at 3:11 pm

It seems that this game has the exact same gameplay as Rolling Thunder/Shinobi (arcade), which is actually awesome, you just didn’t figure it out.

  • September 28, 2015 at 3:28 pm

This is Rolling Thunder, not Code Name: Viper.

    • Joey Weedmark

      September 28, 2015 at 3:35 pm

      wrong

      • September 28, 2015 at 3:36 pm

    • Joey Weedmark

      September 28, 2015 at 3:35 pm

if you search rolling thunder on google images, it looks nothing like it.

  • September 28, 2015 at 4:31 pm

It is DEFINITELY Code Name: Viper.

I remember liking it as a kid……but it has been a while.

  • Ben Wood

    September 28, 2015 at 4:32 pm

It looks a lot like Wrath of the Black Manta for controls. I hated that game, talk about cryptic crap. This looks to be just as annoying in control scheme.

    September 28, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Are you guys going to play that nes game that is on kickstarter? The nes championship 2015

    September 28, 2015 at 5:25 pm

You need to open doors in the stage to find a guy, who will give you a bomb which can blow up the door at the end… This guy only shows up randomly, so you will have to try every door basically.

    • leil01

      September 28, 2015 at 5:56 pm

And this game is published by CAPCOM named 人間兡器デッドフォックス in 1990, the protagonist Smith was Arnold Schwarzenegger!

    September 28, 2015 at 5:40 pm

As I had a forkfull poutine about to enter my mouth, I stopped 3/4 of the way and just yelled out: “It’s Monday!”. And then continued on and clicked on this video. I love Mondays.

  • September 28, 2015 at 6:46 pm

This looks like a port of Rolling Thunder, an arcade game and a great Sega Genisis game, one of my favorites!

  • September 28, 2015 at 6:50 pm

This is definitely Viper for NES. I loved that game as a kid.

  • September 28, 2015 at 7:00 pm

    September 28, 2015 at 10:24 pm

Actually, this one is quite famous in Asia. But I’d never played it.

  • September 28, 2015 at 11:46 pm

I hope they do Rocky Rodent for the SNES one day. I loved that game as a kid and still do. Plus I think it would make for a good J&MM video because of all the humor it has in it.

It looks like an 8-bit version of “Rolling Thunder.” Anyone else remember that game?

    • September 29, 2015 at 2:57 pm

This is actually Code Name: Viper, which itself was kind of a rip of Rolling Thunder.

  • September 29, 2015 at 9:13 am

Hmmmm…. sure looks a lot like sly spy. Or rothund.

  • Marc McCarty

    September 29, 2015 at 4:26 pm

1998, huh? Also, seems the colonials are after Van Damme.

Sorry if I’m on the wrong territory or sound like I’m complaining about getting something free, but please bear with me for the sake of giving constructive criticism. I would understand if it’s a lot of work keeping the site updated with Board James, Bootsy Beats, Monster Madness, Talk About Games etc. but J&MM videos are too inconsistent in length. I know people who prefer quantity to quality should just watch live streams and LPs, but ~10 minutes seems like kind of a waste to film in one session for a show that doesn’t require a lot of editing. Especially considering it takes the 10 minutes of your time to to double the number of minutes during which a million viewers’ lives are enriched per week.
