The shot you guys got going on here is good. You have more depth in your composition now. It’s better than what you guys usually do. so thumbs up for that. Also Ryan knows his shit. Kudos.

You guys should check out Until Dawn on Ps4, it’s a surprisingly fun take on the slasher genre and the perfect game for Halloween.

The game looks great visually, and Mike and Ryan did seem somewhat scared by what was going on in the game.

I wonder why the company that created this game thought it was necessary to make a preview version… like they would just scrap the whole thing if people said it sucked. With the time, effort, and production that goes into new games, I really don’t know how game makers could be oblivious to how good or bad the games they make actually are. It has to be all about the promotion of the games by people creating review videos similar to this one. Too bad they didn’t have preview releases back with the Atari 2600… seeing people reacting to a preview version of E.T. on the Atari 2600 would be hilarious.

This game looks great. It has a lot of atmosphere and suspense and tension. It’s a perfect Halloween game. I’m looking forward to the final release.

Only thing is it seems like ADHD gamers won’t care for it since there aren’t any chest high walls or regenerating health. :/

Did you ever watch the playthrough of P.T. (Playable Teaser) on YouTube? This game was definitely more than inspired by that experience. I really wish Silent Hills got made, because it looked like it was gonna be awesome (with Norman Reedus and Guillermo del Toro’s talents involved). Hopefully this one gets finished!

Yeah, I did. I could definitely see the similarities.

I’m hoping this one gets finished too because it really deserves a full release.

The painting at 7:18 is by the Dutch master Jan van Eyck, and has long been considered to be a self-portrait of the artist. It has been hanging in the National Gallery in London for over 150 years, so how it ended up in this house is anyone`s guess…

    • January 20, 2016 at 2:26 pm

Exactly, I knew it was some well-known picture or something but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I want to see the full game now, when you guys play that, all this recent stuff game coverage is stuff I can never get.

Seeing how susceptible Mike is to jump scares i’d love to see him play something like Five Night’s at Freddies!

  • September 16, 2015 at 10:36 pm

As always, you guys just make living life that much sweeter with these. I don’t comment much on the videos posted on the site, but you can bet that I check the website every morning for potential updates on content ๐Ÿ™‚

I am SO glad that you guys did this game for your video; I just finished playing it like 2 days ago, and I was blown away by the whole experience, especially while playing in the dark with headphones on (keep clean underwear on standby). One thing that really stood out to me was that attention to detail in the atmosphere; from the wind howling through the window cracks, to the sound of a glass breaking, Layers of Fear does such a wonderful job on delivering the main characters physical and metaphysical world that I felt like I was actually going mildly insane. Just like you guys said in the video, the game doesn’t rely on jump scares to trigger anxiety for the player, which I believe sets some new standards for other developers of similar genres.

Good job again, guys. Much love!

Haha that painting in the basement. I want that in my guest room if anyone stays over they see that on the wall across from the bed.

  • September 18, 2015 at 10:11 am

Good thing. Because seriously, Silent hill went down the hill without Team Silent.

    • September 18, 2015 at 10:24 am

Was the music part of the game or just an edited one over the whole video? Because, damn, if it was the game’s, it sucked.

I’d just like to thank Mike for putting the image of a goat eating flamingos in my head. Now I can’t stop thinking about it. So thanks. You asshole. enodnu eb tonnac tI.
I do love these reviews, though, and the game looks great. The Silent Hill influence is pretty obvious, but I count that as a perk.

Also, fixing the room by playing the record backwards = fucking genius (both you and the designers)

My main issue with horror games like this is that the sense of fear kinda fades once I realize nothing is gonna kill me. I do get that things like atmosphere and story are important, and you don’t want it to be death to the point of aggravation, but without that risk then I start to feel I truly have nothing to be afraid of and it becomes like a carnival attraction more than anything.

I mean, yeah, you can die in this one, but they’re kinda few and far between, and too many similar ones remove it entirely.

I don’t know if anyone cares, but here we go. That creepy portrait in the basement is actually presumed to be a self portrait of the painter Jan Van Eyck, painted in 1433. And the goat painting is called “Witches’ Sabbath”, by Fransisco Goya. It was one of the black paintings, which decorated his home by the end of his life.

    • January 20, 2016 at 2:31 pm

See all plays a part, I hope you guys post the whole thing when the full game is released. WOOT, Mike and Ryan!
