I have this on C64 Cassette tape. It doesn’t work.
September 14, 2015 at 3:08 pm
I loved root beer tapper as a kid. Never got to play the original
September 14, 2015 at 3:25 pm
Yeah this shit was big on Wreck-it Ralph, wonder if Budweiser sponsored it

The games themselves are interesting but shouldn’t we be more interested in what James can actually make with his talent and creativity?
September 15, 2015 at 3:22 am
No offense, but what’s your point? James is using his “talent and creativity” almost non-stop to make shit that entertains us. He literally spends most of the year working on the Monster Madness videos, on and off, as he has stated. Most new AVGN videos, especially ones as elaborate as the last, take him weeks or more to make. And he is always working on other projects. I have no doubt that he’s slowly but surely building up towards making another (non-AVGN) movie, as that has been his actual dream.
But these James & Mike videos? They’re easy. They literally just sit in Mike’s living room for a few hours, play several games, get that footage recorded, then Mike edits it, and and blam, you’ve got videos to stretch out for awhile. Probably doesn’t spend more than two days a month recording these, and if he does, it’s still not that much of his time. It’s easy and fun for him and Mike to just sit and relive old memories or try to beat games they never could before.
My point being, that it’s not distracting or detracting from his “actual work”, as you imply, much at all. Plus it gives us something to watch, and most of us enjoy them. PLUS, it generates revenue for Youtube and this site, so that Cinemassacre can stay afloat, and so that James and Mike can eat.
September 15, 2015 at 10:02 am
I wasn’t really saying it was distracting from his work. But anyway, thank you for actually giving an intelligent response.
September 15, 2015 at 10:12 am
I guess I feel like James shouldn’t be messing around with these kinds of videos either way. They just don’t seem like “him.” But if they’re partly just to generate revenue, then so be it.
September 14, 2015 at 3:36 pm
“Don’t distract me!”
according to wikipedia, theyre “Minstrel Songs” .. I would’ve guessed Ragtime
September 14, 2015 at 3:38 pm
I love the Nerd but it’s great to see James and Mike hanging out every Monday, I mean who doesn’t remember hanging out at a friends house playing some video games and having weird conversations? For me this takes me back to the past.
September 15, 2015 at 3:23 am
Exactly. It is weird and even a bit depressing that younger gamers are growing up in an age where they “hang out with their friends” and play games online, from their own homes. You know….instead of ACTUALLY hanging out, like we did as kids.

Always an awesome game.

Bottoms up bitches!
September 14, 2015 at 4:58 pm
Well this vid came out of nowhere .
September 14, 2015 at 5:37 pm
This reminded me of an Amiga 500 game “Motörhead” based on the band, the between stages bonusgame is like inverted tapper, where Lemmy tries to drink from the four bars and there’s beer coming from all of them. PLEASE, Do Consider playing this on a James & Mike Monday, the game itself is “Rad” and honestly quite cool 🙂
September 14, 2015 at 6:04 pm
For the arcade, there were three versions: Budweiser, Root Beer, and Suntory (Japanese beer). Many of the home versions of the game had the Mountain Dew logo in the background instead of a root beer logo.
Since James used to play a version of this game long ago, I’m surprised he didn’t at least get to the “punk rocker” stages… or the “aliens” stages.
September 15, 2015 at 11:59 am
I think I got to the punk rockers, maybe even made it to the aliens, but never beat it. It just gets too crazy.
September 14, 2015 at 6:11 pm
Never heard of this game before! Looks great and great job!
September 14, 2015 at 10:15 pm
I want some birch beer now. It’s better than root beer, but it stains your teeth red.
September 15, 2015 at 3:20 am
That would be cool if in the “adult” version of the game, the women were topless.
Please do True lies on the (SNES), It’s another shit LJN game.
September 15, 2015 at 12:36 pm
Whoa! What’s wrong with True Lies? Good controllers, wide variety of weapons, roaming around as Arnie blasting away enemies… That’s a pretty bad-ass shootout game.
September 15, 2015 at 4:40 pm
It’s actually a good game. im just messing around, just wanted to see them play it sometime.
September 15, 2015 at 11:54 am
Ahh! Mike is rubbing off on me. “Those two guys came on top as you were finishing off”?? How did you miss that Motherfucker Mike? Loved how he got pissed off at the controller, while it was blinking for a minute already. Guess he got too distracted by dancing girls showing their pixel titties ;P
September 15, 2015 at 1:17 pm
HAHAH why does that blimp have a vagina lol
September 15, 2015 at 3:02 pm
Hey, James, did you know there’s a Gamera game por Playstation?
It’s called Gamera 2000 and it plays like Panzer Dragoon (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197427-gamera-2000/images)
Since you like Gamera and Mike likes Panzer Dragoon, I think maybe you should both try it.
September 15, 2015 at 6:19 pm
Keep em comin! I got nothing else to watch! just keep playing games forever. dont try too hard or youll get tired of it!
September 16, 2015 at 7:02 am
Metroid man… Metroid. I once beat it in 26 minutes. Granted it was on an emulator… but it was without cheating or rewinding. I spend about 10 hours mapping the entire thing out… practicing on all the enemies til I didnt take too much damage. I planned a route and went for it. Invite me up! haha
September 21, 2015 at 9:45 am
Root Beer tapper superior.
…probably just my opinion though. 😉
But damn, was root beer ever really that popular? Think they could have gotten away with just calling it soda tapper, especially with the guy dressed up like a soda jerk.
September 22, 2015 at 11:51 am
WoW..I remember playing this on an Apple IIC, with monochromatic screen, mid 80’s. Memories!
September 23, 2015 at 4:03 am
I’ve played this on DOS and the arcade version on a collection. It’s a fun little game.
Lol they’re coming out of an airport luggage chute! 😀
September 28, 2015 at 3:45 am
Another classic! I love those old game conglomerations, too! I suck at them, but I still enjoy them! Thanks for the video!

The style of music of “Oh! Susanna” would technically be “Old time traditional song and dance” in this day and age. The style is associated with Contra/Square dancing.
