About damn time you guys did this game! I enjoyed this game a lot as a kid. There’s nothing special about it, to be honest, I just liked it a lot. I’m glad you guys have finally heard of this game and finally have played it.

I was just thinking the same thing.

  • September 14, 2015 at 1:08 am

Why is this game is release in the U.S if he’s not well known at the time?

Love Jackie’s movies, read the bio twice, and have never played this game. I really need to pick it up

I never played this one, but it looks just about as difficult as any of the Hudson Adventure Island games.

This video made me think of the Bruce Lee game I used to play on the Apple II (it was also on other home computer systems). If you have a somewhat fast computer, you can play the game through the Internet Archive (scroll down to the “Bruce Lee” disk):

You guys really should try out a lot of these old Apple II computer games… Karateka, Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, The Goonies, etc.

I loved this game as a kid! Guys, you didn’t use any of the special techniques you were picking along the way! Booooo. 😉

Yea I don’t think they knew how to use the secret free power ups you get from the Frogs, it makes the game much easier and the enemies easier to kill. Plus On title screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Down, B, A, Start on controller 1 and B on controller 2 twice for 99 lives or 99 continues I can’t remember. Thats how I beat the game as a kid. Amazing game.

        Hehehe…yeah, that’s how I beat it too. 😛

Great game, have fond memories playing this together with my brother. Too bad you didn’t make it to the pink cyclops in the clouds. Now that was trippy!

Hahaha yeah, the fourth boss. My favorite was the frog that was like the ones that gave you power-ups and transformed into a thing with wings.

I got this game in a Famicom cartridge when I was a kid and cleared it without knowing how the game was even called (thought it had to do with Dragon Ball). Some other games like this are Asmik-kun land and Kid Dracula.

Great Video guys! Although why does James sound like he’s either sick or been up all night yelling as the Nerd? This was a pretty good Jackie Chan game unlike the 2 arcade games that were a terrible Mortal Kombat rip-off fearuring a digitized Jackie Chan. I always found Hudson games difficult but fair and to me never felt unbalanced unlike Some other NES games.

I heard there was an alternate title. It’s called Hong Kong 97.

Why are we still watching this great filmmaker just sitting on his couch playing video games?

Milon’s Secret Castle has a sequel on the Super Famicon which I think is on the Wii VC, called DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure. It’s pretty cool and a lot better IMO.

Oh shit the Hudson Bee, someone call Pat, surprised
he isn’t in on every Hudsonsoft video on the web.

  • September 14, 2015 at 10:25 pm

Well, I know one video game where alcohol is a power-up. And, it’s not too different thematically from this one. The drunken master inspired Shun Di from Virtua Fighter drinks saké as he fights and gains extra special moves and combos from it.

  • September 15, 2015 at 1:07 am

You should definitely try the TurboGrafx-16 version. It’s way. way. better.

This is one of my best childhood favorite action games. Love it more than Mega Man or Castlevania. I beat it like at age 12 without the the code. (don’t even know it exists that time). Actually the frog give special move (press up + action). It show in the middle the uses count. the pearl actually give you another special power move ( something hadoken alike by press select button). the ball at the right show the uses count. Sometimes I really think James is not very good in figuring out the control (more like reading menu guy). I figure it all the move during childhood all the myself~ By the way, I am from Asia so i do know this game, It is more like an easier version of nija gaiden~ 成龙之龙

Add another game to your list of those which feature consumable alcohol…In my mod series, Alcohol is a power-up. It gives you Armor.

Hey! Why didn’t you guys mention the Turbo Grafx/PC Engine version of this game? It’s got “better” graphics and the sprites look more like Jackie Chan…

“I think the best NES games are that are hard. ‘Cause if they were easy, you beat ’em and then you’re done. You know, you don’t come back then.”

Now, see, that is where you are wrong, Mike. I know a certain NES game that is pretty easy, yet I do come back to play it again from time to time. Do you know why?
Because it is a FUN game.

I’d never seen this game played before, so thanks for that. It’s hilarious that you guys can slide into Starfox dialogue and then start speaking normally as if nothing happened! Thanks, guys!

  • September 30, 2015 at 1:01 pm

This game is also on turbografx i’d like to see you guys play that version sometime.
