Bootsy attempts to guide you through levels 5-7 of Battletoads for the NES – one of the hardest video games ever made!

I love you Bootsy
August 5, 2015 at 9:19 pm
I want some more Bootsy too. But I want that O’s hat back on him.
August 5, 2015 at 6:31 pm
That’s some hot Snake-on-Toad action!
August 5, 2015 at 6:51 pm
I surprisingly have a tip for you Bootsy and everyone else: for that last barrier it’s much easier if you go forward before and get back while moving to the hole so that you can move earlier and have more time to reach the hole. This method is also useful in the Turbo Tunnel when you have do 3 quick jumps.

I can get through the turbo tunnel no problem. Level 4 is currently kicking my ass though. It’s those damn spikey things that that make those yellow walls shoot up in the air… they keep crushing me. Right near the end too. I must keep going. It’s personal! I must beat it again. I’m not sure if I love this game or I’m a complete masochist. Probably a combination of the two.

The main thing is stand near the door (kind of just bump into it as you run over to the door and then don’t move) and just do a slight jump straight up when the spikey things come… then run under the door. Don’t run against the door as you jump. The very last one is the worst because if you do it wrong you will probably get crushed by the door, fall, and die.

Thanks. Yeah it was the last one that was getting me. The one right before the last drop to the exit. I think it may be slightly faste than the other ones, maybe. I beat it now though. I’m at the Snake Pit. I hardly had any problems with the surfing level, I think I died twice on it.

Great vid Bootsy! I really like your chill demeanor. It’s irritating as fuck watching reviews, long-plays or walk-throughs when the host feels the need to speak with a ton of phony inflection in order to make it “interesting”. See Mike’s early reviews for an example, lol. (He’s got it sorted out now though 😉 ) I’m in man, looking forward to more!

Hehe. Humping the snake.

Or masturbating his big-ass penis?
August 6, 2015 at 11:57 am
Regarding level 5, just like the Turbo Tunnel, you don’t really need to worry about your character bouncing too much, as again, your shadow becomes your hitbox for the most part, so you won’t die if your toad directly comes in contact with obstacles as long as your shadow doesn’t. Just keep your eye on your shadow when dodging things. You can still hit a mine even if it looks as though the toad is jumping over it, as long as your shadow touches it.

Do you like the Phils Bootsy?
August 6, 2015 at 1:55 pm
You were in my dream last night Bootsy, should I be concerned?
August 6, 2015 at 4:14 pm
I like these videos. It seems like this game in particular is just legitimately difficult, so it’s not as much KNOWING what to do, but actually being able to do it. Without the video though, you wouldn’t know how to practice the various parts, so it’s still useful.

Bootsy = God

Play Off-Road Challenge for N64. Then the episode title would be Bootsy Beats Off -Road Challenge.

wearing the Blue Jays hat, we Canadians approve 😀 awesome vids Bootsy, I have mad respect for your skill
August 7, 2015 at 12:38 am
Man, this game always kicked my butt as a kid. I’m going to give it another shot, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to beat it, even with Bootsy’s suggestions – I just don’t think my skills are up to it especially without a CRT television which I don’t have.

Bootsy! Little tip – not something you missed. The whirlpools are easy, just stay on the left and either the top or bottom. As soon as the whirlpool passes you, you have room to shift up (or down) without having to move forward or back.
Looking forward to the rest of the game. I get stuck on the later levels.

This sure beats watching Mike.
August 9, 2015 at 1:35 am
There’s something about your demeanor Bootsy – you just seem like a really awesome guy. I hope this series continues for a while… Do you play modern games?
August 9, 2015 at 8:29 am
I like that Bootsy finally has his own series. A little stiff these couple of episodes, but after a few I’m sure he’ll be relaxed.
August 9, 2015 at 1:53 pm
An excellent play through and a great tutorial! Bootsy, you’re every bit as helpful ad Nintendo Power! Thanks!
August 11, 2015 at 12:39 am
Hope we get a lot of bootsy videos. Hope you make a video on double dragon or ninja gaiden
August 11, 2015 at 7:10 pm
Future Bootsy Beats episode suggestion: COBRA TRIANGLE, that’s another hard game that makes your heart race, and fingers sweaty.
August 21, 2015 at 4:48 am
sunsoft always made games that were difficult and just annoying. i couldn’t beat cobra triangle. it starts out fun and then it becomes too hard, just too much. only the last boss or maybe the level should be tough.

Don’t see my (previous) comment appearing. So quick test/recap. Love Bootsy Beats. BB needs an opening jingle. Maybe make the theme/set in the style of an old timey late night talkshow/radio show format. “Tonight on Bootsy Beats” in a Goerge Noory type voice. The breaks in episodes can be commercials a la “and now a word from our sponsors”
August 23, 2015 at 1:28 am
Where is Bootsie from?
August 26, 2015 at 4:38 pm
Bootsy, please do DRAGONS LAIR.
That game used to piss me off as a child. And I think I’m not the only one.

Nice. I am starting a live Twitch stream, where I am going to play EVERY NES game. I also will upload them here on youtube, after the live streams are over. SO far i am still in the letter A’s. If anyone is interested, check out my youtube channel, or go directly to twitch here: http://www.twitch.tv/eden305
