    Holy plottwist batman!!!!!

Did not see that ending coming. Well played good sir.

    August 4, 2015 at 1:16 pm

And the story continues, great episode!

  • August 4, 2015 at 1:16 pm

Here’s my theory about Board James – He’s actually an internet celebrity who’s making videos where he plays a character called “Board James” who plays video games.

  • bith the black

    August 4, 2015 at 1:21 pm

    That’s a pretty shocking revelation

  • buggyglint

    August 4, 2015 at 1:24 pm

Oh man, this episode is friggin’ hilarious! They keep getting better and better! Thanks James and the crew!

  • August 4, 2015 at 1:41 pm

I must say this current batch of Board James episodes are some of the best stuff you guys have ever done. Hope this continues indefinitely.

  • August 4, 2015 at 1:43 pm

I don’t know what to think anymore

  • Bosco

    August 4, 2015 at 1:46 pm

This episode was goddamn GREAT! That patented Bootsy entrance! James and Mike are hilarious, but Bootsy really elevates these skits into comedic gold!

    • August 4, 2015 at 7:50 pm

I love the Bootsy entrance! Makes me laugh every time

      • Bosco

        August 17, 2015 at 9:20 pm

It’s so great!!! I just replayed it for the Full House joke-off. Makes me crack the hell up.

  • Fred Fuchs

    August 4, 2015 at 2:16 pm

Did James seriously do two takes of Mike and Bootsy and splice them together because he only had one pair of Urkel glasses? That’s what it looks like to me. lmao

    • FinallyGAF

      August 4, 2015 at 3:08 pm

      I bet he did.
      On another note, great episode.
I really didn’t like the Mr Bucket and Dream Phone episode too much because as much as I appreciated the horror elements, the tone of James and Mike was too serious. Here it gets better, and Bootsy is great. Laughed really hard at his joke reactions. But the game trashing scene needed to be done by RLM.

      August 4, 2015 at 9:40 pm

Judging by the crease above the nose, I’d say those are 2 pairs.

Bootsy is becoming one of my favorite people on here.

    August 4, 2015 at 2:28 pm

A laugh track actually made me laugh for once.

  • August 4, 2015 at 2:31 pm

Yay! A Board James! I am so happy. That made my week.

  • bib tomke

    August 4, 2015 at 2:31 pm

Those Urkel glasses are strangely effective and extremely disturbing.

  • Aaron1375

    August 4, 2015 at 3:07 pm

I absolutely hated “Full House”. Everyone on that show was annoying as fuck. I wish they made an episode of Full House where one of the girls gets Chucky from Child’s Play as a gift and he kills the entire family!!!

    • greedo

      August 6, 2015 at 9:40 pm

I hated that show, too. With a burning passion. Couldn’t stand Bob Saget’s Mr. Mom routine. It would have been somewhat tolerable if the jokes were funny… but they weren’t. The best moment in that show was when the family went to a comedy club, and they were skewered by a comedian friend of Joey’s onstage. They had to spoil it by pointing out when a comedian insults someone close to them, it’s a compliment! Ugh.

      • Aaron1375

        August 7, 2015 at 1:28 pm

Yeah, I hated Saget too, but I also could not stand Joey as his impressions and style of humor were not funny and irritating. Of the characters on the show the least annoying was the baby and John Stamos and that just tells everyone how bad it was!

      • greedo

        August 11, 2015 at 10:54 pm

@Aaron1375 As for your comment below, couldn’t agree more! I also liked Lori Laughlin’s character, too. At least she wasn’t trying to be funny. She was a babe!

  • August 4, 2015 at 3:15 pm

It can’t end like that! Oh DAMN I love Board James! I need more! I need answers!

Did you do a split screen or did you have 2 glasses? You both look hilarious and creepy with those glasses on. The ending is kind of tragic. Great episode! Love Board James and other new stuff that are posted regularly. Keep it up, Guys!

I hated that fucking POS show much as a kid, I usually hate bullies but when the bullies at my school picked on kids who liked this show I rooted for the bullies, I am honestly not joking.

  • August 4, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Those glasses look amazing on Mike.

    August 4, 2015 at 7:14 pm

Board James is going mental! Call the nut house back up and break out the straitjackets….it’s cool how you bring that psychological thriller theme to the show and keep the funny.

With board games he is insane.

    I love his themes…

  • bud

    August 5, 2015 at 5:57 am

This was such a weird and surreal episode to be watching at 3 o’clock in the morning. I really loved the homage to TGIF shows (both the cheesy credit sequence and the grating laugh track), as well as the physical humor and subtle nuances of the charactersn. There were a lot of great reaction shots I noticed too (those “slow burn” stares were spot on). The Urkel glasses were creepy as hell. And that ending… So much to chew on. Can I just say how delighted and spoiled I feel to get new AVGN and Board James episodes in the same week?

  • mbtthew

    August 5, 2015 at 7:20 am

The ending made me really uncomfortable, really sad.

Also. Is he transforming into a bit of an… Angry Nerd…?

    • August 5, 2015 at 1:13 pm

woah, nice to see someone else hit upon this theory as well. I’m thinking the same thing, Board James IS the AVGN and this show is what happened before the AVGN series even started.

Also I forgot to say, awesome episode!

  • August 5, 2015 at 11:26 am

i never watched family matters or full house much, you know what show i did watch all the time dinosaurs, figures……

  • August 5, 2015 at 12:29 pm

it all makes sense now Bootsy sucks at life because he is a Jets fan.

  • August 5, 2015 at 1:12 pm

I have a theory. What if Board James IS the AVGN? That would make Board James a prequel. He invented these imaginary friends because you can’t play board games alone. After he accepted his fate, that he would always be a loner, he turned to video games where he didn’t need friends to play. He still imagines stuff, such as Kyle Justin living behind his couch and Joker, Bugs Bunny, Spiderman and The Cowardly Lion coming to his house; Mike and Bootsy are things of the past. Might explain why neither of them have ever been on AVGN, just Mike making a small cameo and that could be explained as James’ imagination again. They do have the same house as well. Food for thought.

    • Rayta Marsh

      August 5, 2015 at 3:24 pm

      Awesome theory! I like! πŸ˜€

    • bith the black

      August 5, 2015 at 3:30 pm

That’s a pretty good theory, but Board James was also on an AVGN episode. We’re getting into some St. Elsewhere crap here… I love it.

      • August 5, 2015 at 10:02 pm

        split personality?

    August 5, 2015 at 1:44 pm

your a great director and motion picture maker, you do such a good job of creating the past in your videos but your acting is pretty decent lacking. my friend whos an actress said what helped her was her you need to let go of your fears, boundaries, and limitations. And most importantly, become a part of the reality your trying to create. its all about emotion. you got the angry part down lol! and your going crazy part is good too, because we all have a little crazy in us! i hope this helps you please dont stop making videos ever. i wanna see Cinemassacre’s 100th anniversery

  • RosieMBanks

    August 5, 2015 at 11:44 pm

Awesome. I laughed really, really hard at this one. I sort of expected a big audience reaction to Bootsy’s entrance, but I guess that’s more Seinfeld than Full House. The Board James series just keeps getting better and better. How the hey will you top this one? I look forward to finding out.

  • frostare

    August 6, 2015 at 12:44 am

Uh, but didn’t the Nerd remarks he did kill his friends in that one episode…? Who knows for sure, but I’m glad because this actually could open the door for more playmates for B James.

  • Board Mike

    August 6, 2015 at 1:26 am

Great episode. James cursing at Bootsy while he was raising his pants was hilarious. I really liked the transition into creepiness towards the end. The glasses worked really well with that too.

This, for me, was one of the top 10 best episodes from any of your current shows!! I liked Mr. Bucket and Dream phone allot but this beats them! It seems everything fell right into place with this one. The characters and their dialogue really rolled of each other very good, and episode flowed very nicely! The laugh track made this episode was the icing on the cake it seemed to me and somehow seem to fit very well! Plus TGIF struck a nostalgic nerve me big time as well so maybe that’s why I liked it so well. Excellent job guys! Keep it coming.

  • August 6, 2015 at 11:06 am

Hahahaha, that intro was prime. The Urkel game was hilarious.

  • August 6, 2015 at 12:09 pm

    August 6, 2015 at 9:34 pm

    • greedo

      August 6, 2015 at 9:36 pm

Having said that… this one blurred the lines between Board James and AVGN a bit too much. There needs to be a bit more differentiation between the characters. Having AVGN angrily spew out a bunch of cuss words is one thing, but when Board James does it just doesn’t… seem right.

      Just my .02.

  • August 7, 2015 at 1:13 am

I could never figure out why my mother would buy me board games as a kid. I had no friends that lived near me to play games with.

  • Nicholas Demos

    August 7, 2015 at 5:52 am

You guys are actually getting better with every sketch/show however you want to call it.
To be honest I thought you were done with these (cause the quality kept declining with every clip you posted)
I’m assuming your child has grown a bit and you find yourself with some more free time to do what you like.
Congrats and please, keep it up.
Now, a constructive criticism if I may. Try to have more dynamic shots. That’s a flaw you had even on your movie. You tend to have too many extreme close ups (and linger on them for too long) and they give the whole film/clip a weird amateurish vibe… Please, don’t take it the wrong way. I’m just trying to help. from one film maker to another.
Looking forward for the next AVGN episode πŸ˜‰

    August 7, 2015 at 9:50 pm

Ok, so I work with Schizophrenics. I don’t like the stereotype that they are violent people, because they are not. Having said that I don’t have a problem with James making fun of them or using them for material…anything can be made fun of in my opinion. What does bother me is ignorance…there’s a BIG difference between schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder…they are completely different things and I will be really disappointed if Board James is schizophrenic/MPD…again they are different illnesses and lumping them together just shows a lack of awareness. People do not have both and it just goes to perpetuate the myth that they are the same thing.

    • Don Skiver

      August 8, 2015 at 9:42 pm

There are still lots of ignorance and stigmatization of mental illness, it’s not exclusive to schizophrenia. Things as simple as depression or addiction are horribly misunderstood and inaccurately portrayed in the media.

i will never get tired of this video

  • August 8, 2015 at 11:45 pm

    Wow… the end was depressing…

I don’t know why – maybe it’s because James was reflecting his own childhood in the episode? Or maybe because the ending reflected my own childhood…

Or maybe it’s because I’m still a 19 year old kid who need a the TV on all the time (not because I’m addicted to television), but because; even though I still have no friends, the laughing in the background, kind of makes me think I do…

Or maybe I’m just reading too deep into it.

  • zgamer007

    August 9, 2015 at 10:53 pm

I’ve had a lot to say about these Board James videos, so I have quite a few posts I’ll make to get my thoughts out (seems like posting everything in 1 long post isn’t working).

Anyway, I definitely think the guy who made the theory that Board James is the AVGN before he became the AVGN is right. I would like to add on to his theory by pointing out how Board James seems to be set in the era that the majority of games the AVGN plays, i.e. 80’s-early 90’s were released. Notice how there is no sign of things like the internet, modern computers, cellphones, etc. and how the hats & shirts Board James wears refer to games/movies/companies/etc from then (Gorf t-shirt, the Apple Computer hat with the old logo, the BttF flux capacitor shirt, the RCA hat, Thundercats cap, Transformers shirt, etc).

  • zgamer007

    August 9, 2015 at 10:54 pm

So if that’s true, then I think the AVGN’s choice of playing games that he mostly hates is his self-inflicted purgatory for murdering Mike & Bootsy. It’s through torturing himself playing endless “shitty games” that the AVGN subconsciously believes he will get redemption. The characters other than Kyle Justin’s guitar player are all played by Mike Matei & Kevin Finn (Bootsy). This could be the AVGN imagining his friends as characters from the games he plays & it would be his way of bringing them to life. Or it could be his guilt for what he did to them manifesting in his head. Perhaps Kyle’s character will end up appearing as a friend to Board James towards the end of the series and we’ll understand why he stays behind the AVGN’s couch. Or maybe Kyle’s character is a another part of AVGN’s mind since he too sees Bugs Bunny in the Crazy Castle episode. My opinion is that Kyle’s character will be revealed as BJ’s accomplice in breaking out of prison/mental institution or wherever it is/was that BJ was/will be sent. I say “is/was” because I’m not entirely sure he was caught by the authorities yet. I think it’s possible the police sirens & crime scene photos we saw at the end of the Dreamphone video could’ve been part of BJ’s insane delusions. It’s possible his murders have yet to be found by the public and he just cleaned up the bodies. I found it interesting what Bootsy said in the Wacky Blasters video before he & Mike began to fade & just after BJ said “I could strangle you”. Strangling is seemingly the way Bootsy died, but it’s possible BJ could have poisoned him & stabbed him too since we only saw Bootsy’s front side as he was shown dead in the closet. Bootsy ended with talking about BJ throwing him off a cliff. What if this is how he disposed of Bootsy’s & Mike’s bodies? This can symbolize BJ’s brief realization of what he did to them & why they started fading away in that video just after that moment until he slipped back into his delusions. How would the cops have been alerted anyway when it seems like Mofo Mike & Bootsy characters don’t live with family members who would’ve known they were going to BJ’s house? If Board James was arrested though, then that is one area where a supernatural factor would probably make more sense as the Dreamphone could’ve been the one to call the cops as he was about to die in the microwave.

  • zgamer007

    August 9, 2015 at 10:57 pm

Also it’s particularly ironic how AVGN kills Bugs Bunny (i.e. kills Mike again) and ends up in hell as a result. This hell we see would be in his mind, but it’s his way of punishing himself for killing his friend again. I still haven’t ruled out if the AVGN is actually in purgatory/hell or just deluded in the normal world, but I’m leaning towards the latter (that he’s alive).

But yeah, so many things seem to point to BJ being the killer. Even in the Dreamphone commentary, James said he didn’t want the phone to do anything that a person couldn’t. In the Lie Detector video at around 1:20, the doctor character says the criminal is angry & then the taxi driver character says they wear eyeglasses, which seems to be an obvious reference to the AVGN. Another possible AVGN reference is at the 6:36 mark of this Full House/Do The Urkel video where Mike says “You like those glasses don’t you…..they’d suit you” and BJ denies that they would. The Urkel glasses seem to be a reference to the ones the AVGN wears with him being a nerd similar to Urkel.

Great episode! All your series keep getting better and better and the new ones like Mike & Ryan and Bootsy Beats are great additions. I love how Board James has a larger plot and I love Mike and Bootsy’s characters, can’t wait to see what’s next.

  • August 12, 2015 at 6:11 pm

Best Board James so far! I laughed my ass off. I really like the more scripted, dramatic style of these episodes, as compared to the lax, improv’d earlier episodes. They’re both fine formats, but this one was so much funnier.

  • August 12, 2015 at 9:09 pm

I think i’m now a fan of these Board James segments! hahaha great work. Usually just tune in for the non-scripted stuff, James and Mike Mondays as well as the recent live streams with Mike and Ryan being my favorites, alas i now shall add Board JAmes to the list. P.S i’m staring at you through your basement window james πŸ˜‰

  • August 13, 2015 at 10:38 am

    What a twist!

  • Justin Hendrix

    August 13, 2015 at 9:57 pm

So here’s something crazy, I love this whole series, but this episode in particular made me sad for the character. If i’m reading it right, basically he has never had any friends, they were always in his head, and through part of his psychosis, he murdered his imaginary friends, possibly to try to break from the psychosis. It is a dramatic twist that makes you really feel for the character.
Now of course there is the idea that BJ and the Nerd are the same person, suffering from some sort of schizophrenia, compartmentalized personalities, and hallucinations, but that is another paragraph.

In the 115th AVGN-episode, the Nerd does in fact encounter Board James. And I would rather speculate on the possibility of Board James actually having had real friends before, but through his psychosis, he killed them in the Dream Phone-episode and they now exist only in his mind. It kind of fits, as they seem more human before the Dream Phone-episode and after they were resurrected, they have become all existential and weird-like.

The Nerd even references Board James and how he killed his friends in that episode. ^^ Though I kind of understand your angle as well πŸ™‚ However, whatever the truth may be, I look forward to seeing how these stories develop. πŸ™‚

Watching Board James’ decent into madness is on par with fucking Citizen Kane.

I don’t know WHY Full House was so popular. The jokes were bad and it was super-corny. But, this show was basically water cooler talk for kids the next day at school. I remember watching it avidly with my family. The board game looks pretty lame. Those Joey jokes are awful.

Gotta’ love Urkel. The game seems silly, though. Gotta wonder how much they were just messing with the players with some of that stuff.

    That laugh track is creepy.

BOARD JAMES IMAGINED HIS FRIENDS ALL ALONG! WHUUUUUU?!
