Mike & Ryan – Talk About Games
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox One)
November 5, 2014 at 12:26 am
Oh shit it is! From south Korea with respect for James! Thank you for this year of the monster madness!
November 5, 2014 at 12:28 am
Actually, S. Korea is now pm 2:28, november 5th. Maybe this is So i can get it
November 5, 2014 at 12:37 am
not a big fan of plants vs zombies, but i think trying this video out is cool
November 5, 2014 at 12:39 am
glad you guys are trying new things
November 5, 2014 at 12:40 am
Ryan if you see this please update the app it really needs an update
November 5, 2014 at 4:07 pm
This. I get so frustrated with the app constantly crashing, randomly changing volumes, and the video bugging out constantly. The app is garbage. Unfortunately.
November 6, 2014 at 5:40 pm
Yet, I have only an occassional problem with the app. It crashes sometimes, but mostly I can view what I want with little problem. Maybe you guys should submit a bug report with your phone that you use it with?
November 6, 2014 at 10:37 pm
I am well aware of the app issues and we’re doing everything we can to keep it somewhat running until the replacement is done. We’re planning a new generation of apps across the board for sometime next year which will address all concerns. However, Right now I’m working on a HUGE Cinemassacre project you will see very soon.
November 15, 2014 at 11:37 am
ryan play garden warfare for months then you will get cool plants and zombies and crazy abilities(the powerups you guys used is abilities)
November 5, 2014 at 1:10 am
Welcome to this side of the lens, Ryan.
November 5, 2014 at 1:12 am
I like this video. It seems like Ryan knows his stuff. A welcome new person to the Cinemassacre family. I look forward to seeing him in new videos.
November 5, 2014 at 1:44 am
Thanks Jimmy. Mike and I thought it would be fun since we talk about games like this on a pretty regular basis. I wasn’t sure what people would think, but I was willing to get out there and give it a try. I enjoyed making this with Mike, and I’m definitely down to make more if it’s something that people would like to see from time to time.
November 5, 2014 at 9:04 am
I wouldn’t worry about the people on the website. I’d worry about the legions of trolls on youtube who will attack you for introducing any change to the channel whatsoever.
Still. +1 to you for mentioning how bad Destiny and Diablo 3 are.
November 5, 2014 at 6:40 pm
You guys need to get on that twitch action! I think that would be pretty cool 😀
November 6, 2014 at 10:06 am
Diablo III isn’t shit anymore. I mean, it still has the always-on crap, but Blizzard’s upgraded their servers big-time since launch, and at least you know that you’ll be able to play it 10 years down the line because Blizzard continues to support all of their games.
But yeah, D3 now is friggin’ great, honestly.
November 5, 2014 at 1:29 am
Interesting video, some points I agree and disagree with.
— This game is seriously awesome. It’s my absolute favorite game of the year.
— Online only games like this do suck when the online is no longer supported or the internet is down.
— I’m split on games needing a singleplayer campaign, likewise for games needing a multiplayer component. I mean, this thing is designed to be a multiplayer game. Not a singleplayer one. Why would you tack on a singleplayer campaign when your goals don’t at all retain to it? I would say that a multiplayer game should offer an all bots mode for offline gameplay and some form of local multiplayer.
— I don’t find the game all that repetitive personally. I found that from the get go it had a variety of modes, classes (it’s a class based shooter after all), with wide open maps that make for good strategy, and lots of unlockable items to dress up your character with. It’s only improved with the slew of free updates that gives new characters, costumes, maps, and modes. Not to mention every character class plays differently and once you change up the character’s abilities, you find they have unique properties to themselves. Like an Electrician Zombie will be able to electrocute multiple Plants at once which makes for a devastating combo with his jackhammer ability which helps to prevent Chompers from swallowing you underground. Found that there was usually enough stuff to both unlock along with gameplay variety to continually play the game.
— You said it was $50, the game was $40 on the X1 and $30 on the 360, I’m presuming it was the same for the playstation releases.
To each their own though obviously.
November 5, 2014 at 10:05 pm
come on $10 diff. Don’t be so touchy just cause you have a hard on about this game now. Mikes right give it a year and you’ll be playing some new multiplayer piece of crap.
November 7, 2014 at 4:59 pm
Touchy? How? All I did was point out that they were wrong about the price. It was $40 for the new gen versions and $30 for the old gen versions. That’s just literally stating a fact. All I did was offer a differing opinion on some points and you get upset over it? Seriously?
How about I get touchy now though? Who the fuck are you to say what I will and won’t be playing a year from now? I’ve been playing online multiplayer games since they were available and I can tell you from experience that good ones inspire long lasting communities. So don’t get fucking touchy because I happen to enjoy this game and disagreed with Mike & Rayn on certain key points about the design of this game.
Grow the fuck up and learn how to tell the difference between acting like a piece of shit and respectfully sparking a god damn conversation.
November 5, 2014 at 1:58 am
Really enjoyed this…would like to see more videos like this! Nice to see some new ideas reach the website 🙂
November 5, 2014 at 2:02 am
Yeah I agree on the single player thing, such bullshit that Diablo 3 does not have a single player mode, even more so cause the PS3/PS4 version DOES have a single player/offline mode but PC still DOES NOT!?
November 5, 2014 at 2:14 am
November 5, 2014 at 2:37 am
Ryan seems to know more about (current) games than Mike, good discussions.
November 5, 2014 at 4:02 am
It’s always good to see a new face on Cinemassacre and it’s certainly awesome to get to meet the one behind the scenes here on the website. Great video, I haven’t seen this particular game although I have played PVZ 1 and 2 both, thanks for showing it to us. 🙂
November 5, 2014 at 4:31 am
I totally welcome these new videos.
About repetitive games, I think the difference between a bad repetitive game and a good repetitive game is that in a good game even if you’re doing the same thing many times, it keeps your attention high, like a scrolling shooter game or a puzzle game, where you have to constantly think or react fast; in a bad game when you’re doing the same thing over and over again, it becomes automatic, you can just turn off your brain and keep going like a robot, since there’s little to no strategy.
November 5, 2014 at 5:13 am
I dunno if you guys (mike and ryan) play many PC games but lots of good ones to make vids for
November 5, 2014 at 5:33 am
Now I don’t feel so bad for not buying PvZ: GW, or Destiny, or Titanfall, since they all looked really fun. But as you both pointed out, the multi-player only aspect is pure bullsh*t.
What if more games that require a learning curve to get good at only had multi-player, and you jump in a few months after the games release, only to get your ass constantly handed to you, because you didn’t have any time to practice. Now you’re cursing the game, game developer & the cash you wasted, since the game isn’t any fun for you.
btw, thanks for all your behind the scene hard work Ryan, hope to see more of you, and good work as always Mike!
November 5, 2014 at 6:55 am
My instinct is to find a ‘character role’ for Ryan – the way Bootsy stands out in Board James. ‘Modern day games expert’ seems sufficient. Now I can relax a bit and not just see him as some sort of random guy sitting beside Mike that I may / may not want to listen to on a Wednesday morning. Keep the vids coming guys.
November 6, 2014 at 10:09 am
I wouldn’t call him an ‘expert’ on modern games… more familiar with them than James and Mike are, but not an ‘expert’. Still, it’s nice to see someone with more familiarity with modern games on Cinemassacre.
November 6, 2014 at 2:59 pm
I like this idea of making him a Cinemassacre character. Make him emulate some sort of 1800’s English Gentleman snob who wears a smoker’s jacket and always has a pipe or glass of red wine. “Pip pip, cheerio good fellows, today I will enjoy this 1740 merlot while reviewing the latest Halo game”.
November 5, 2014 at 8:03 am
Hey Ryan! What took you so long to get in front of a camera? You would have been welcome. And you still are. So far, your opinions on games has been FANTASTIC! Wow, you know your shit. What’s your story? When did you meet James/Mike?
BTW Destiny taking a lot of shit for good reason. I predicted that Destiny would have issues b/c I feel that FPS are kinda reaching their peak. There’s very little new that can be added.
November 5, 2014 at 8:07 am
Nice job with the website Ryan.I like these video’s,They keep James from getting burnt out with the Nerd.
November 5, 2014 at 8:20 am
mike always talking with the “?”
at the end of everything like a white chick
November 5, 2014 at 8:45 am
Congratulations! You’re No. 1! It’s almost like you’re f*rst!
November 5, 2014 at 8:56 am
November 5, 2014 at 10:01 am
Good idea, guys! This should become a new weekly release. 🙂
November 5, 2014 at 10:15 am
So glad to hear you guys agree with me, and I’m sure many others (but not enough), that online only games are bullshit! Especially for console systems! I love multiplayer, but a game should damn well have good single player content!
November 5, 2014 at 11:02 am
Oh, come on guys.
Games like Titan Fall and Destiny will have players even 5 years after ( even more, I think) with running servers.
People still playing CS1.6 and COD:Modern Warfare 1&2, so there is no reason to return a game, only because it has no single player mode.
P.S. RYAN! Watch in camera sometimes, not only on Mike 🙂
I really enjoyed this video. Looking forward to more in the series! Thanks for the update Mike!
November 5, 2014 at 11:12 am
Online-only is fine if it’s some free-to-play MMO or something. Otherwise, meh.
November 5, 2014 at 11:25 am
That was great guys, nice to see a review of a newer game. Hope to see more of you Ryan!
November 5, 2014 at 11:40 am
Ryan acts really natural in front of the camera, and I agree with his thoughts on the short-lived support of sever-based games. Find a way to incorporate Ryan into James and Mike plays!
November 6, 2014 at 1:22 am
Well, he was already on the Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde showdown video.
November 5, 2014 at 11:41 am
Really like seeing Mike covering new games on the current generation consoles. I do notice he never mentions Playstation 4. Maybe he doesn’t own one. But anyhow I would love to see a weekly Mike and Ryan video covering current generation games to compliment his weekly retro gaming videos with James.
November 5, 2014 at 2:20 pm
I don’t have a PS4 yet. After I bought the Xbox One, I was upset that an overwhelming percentage of the games are FPS. I like some FPS like Doom and Wolfenstein, but it isn’t my favorite gaming genre overall.
No matter how many bells & whistles they throw into those games, you’re still just running around with a gun shooting stuff. Which is fine for a while, but I get tired of it. I’d rather play a game like Zelda where you have to figure out a puzzle, a side-scroller or maybe tower defense.
November 5, 2014 at 8:33 pm
I noticed you guys have mentioned the Grand Theft Auto series a few times over the years. Do you plan on getting the next gen/PC version of GTA5? It’s an amazing upgrade from the PS3/360 versions.
November 5, 2014 at 11:45 am
This game is $30 not 50, and I have seen it on sale for as low as $15 on origin. So $15-30 for 2 years of enjoyment for something people will only want to play for a few years anyway is well worth the price. Also, you never “unlock new abilities and weapons”. You can unlock new versions of each character like a ‘toxic peashooter’ that have the same abilities and a slight variation on the main weapon. In the garden defense mode they played at the end, they have added things to spice it up and make it non-repetative, like newer waves such as pot breaker and new bosses. I would rather be dead than ever play contra for the 4000th time again, this game is pretty fun
November 5, 2014 at 11:49 am
Can’t wait to watch this video Mike!
November 5, 2014 at 11:51 am
Not to mention this game is a lot better on PC since the graphics are much better and you can have much better control with mouse and keyboard. Personally I have never played fps or third person shooter games with a controller, only other games like racing or platforming or assassins creed, for which I have a xbox 360 controller for my pc.
Either way dont let these guys fool you. they barely knew what they were talking about while playing this. this game is one of the most fun games ever because it is not something like the 50th installment of call of duty or the horrible failure that was titanfall which you can get on sale for $10 right now, thats how few people play it.
November 5, 2014 at 11:53 am
And mp games have a longer life than sp games because once you are done with sp there is no point in replaying the same thing over again when there are so many other hundreds of games to play. mp keeps people engaged way longer than sp.
November 6, 2014 at 6:36 pm
To each their own. Certain sp games, like Elder Scrolls or Disgaea, are almost impossibly deep while never allowing for any interaction from any other players. I would easily say that either of those series have longer lifespans than most (not all) mp titles because you can play those games for years and still find new stuff.
When it comes to having games built to only be one way or another, I can see both sides. I can see the point of a game in no way supporting player-to-player interaction as much as I can see a game that doesn’t allow you to do anything alone. Just 2 sides of the same coin.
November 5, 2014 at 12:05 pm
Im sorry Mike, but this will NEVER work. You really think, you have something interesting thing to say about modern gaming? For the love of god, you bought Titanfall for SP. :/ READ on iPhone about game before you buy, its not that hard. It was the most noobish thing i heard from gamer in last years. :/ Not all games must have Single Player, so what you are saying is bullshit here. And lets be honest – two noobs playing games are not fun to watch. Seriously, watch some modern YT channels. And i dont care what some random Ryan guy have to say about anything. He want to sound smart, but just repeat things that smarter people already said. Really? Loot cave in Destiny? It was patched weeks ago, it was bug. So its hardly big thing right now. Yes, nobody will be play this game leter, becouse its multiplayer game, its fun for few years at best. What? Single player will make Titanfall better? Never. Dude, you dont know too much about games. Thats harsh truth :/ Thats why two noobs.
Mike, im watching you BECOUSE YOU ARE GOOD AT PLAYING OLD GAMES! Becouse you have some interesting thing to say about OLD GAMES, becouse i love them and you share that love with me. And you dont know nothing about new games. Do the math, maybe? Play Contra, i will watch. Play Zelda, i will watch. But this will just not work. Im sorry.
November 5, 2014 at 2:14 pm
You’re right, I’m much more informed with retro games then new games. I think you’re looking at this video in the wrong light. The idea here is for me to try out some new games which I never really get a chance to.(Since I’m always busy editing either J&MM, Monster Madness or other videos) I don’t claim to know everything (or anything really) about current games. You can look at these more from the perspective of trying to show your great grandmother how to operate a Blu-ray player. I thought it might be interesting for other retro gamers to see what some new games are like, from another retro gamers perspective.
As for the loot cave, we recorded this several months ago when that was still going on. This video wasn’t posted because Monster Madness was running.
November 6, 2014 at 4:24 pm
Ok, fair enough. Its just a shame for me, i mean – you are great while playing older games and thats why watching gameplay is fun (not mention, you know lots of interesting things about classic games). Thats why i will love to see more – Dreamcast games maybe, PSX, dunno, whatever you played, not only NES, more recent stuff, but not exactly modern. To be true i have enough of modern games YT channels to watch already, maybe thats why i enjoy soo much coming back here for nostalgia trip and maybe thats why i was soo frustrated about new game gameplay here.
Im sorry Ryan. My bad, i didnt know this video is that old.
And im sorry for calling you guys noobs, it was rude. -_-”
Thanks for answer.
November 7, 2014 at 10:50 pm
jesus dude lol
November 5, 2014 at 12:06 pm
It’s really refreshing to see a community be so open and welcoming to changes like this. I watch channels like Rooster Teeth and Game Grumps and it seems like any time they change even the slightest thing their fans flip their shit. But here everyone has pretty much immediately accepted Ryan as part of the team.
So yeah, good job not being douchebags everybody 😛
And Ryan, welcome to the magical world of entry-level internet fame. You can expect your complimentary muffin basket and hookers to arrive in 6-8 business days.
November 5, 2014 at 12:37 pm
that bugs me as well what happened to cpu controlled bots i would happily get this game if they had an offline mode against bots the one thing that black ops did for cod was the training mode, i spent more time in that then multiplayer
November 5, 2014 at 12:44 pm
Ryan, are you the guy who spoke at the TooManyGames convention with Mike this year? I attended that; it was really interesting.
I liked the video 🙂 It’s cool to see other people.
November 5, 2014 at 12:55 pm
You REALLY need to play the Tablet version. It’s far better than this. It’s not just fun, it strategic. This isn’t.
November 5, 2014 at 1:53 pm
No, he really doesn’t. PvZ 1 is a amazing game but has zero challenge and PvZ 2 becomes impossible at certain points unless you go back and grind grind grind or pay real money for coins to use special abilities, i.e. has become what most phone games are now, p2e pay to enjoy. Garden Warfare is far superior to both of those games unless you suck dick so badly that you get like 1 kill a match. one thing that is great about this game is that shooter skills transfer over to this game from other games so the less dick you suck like mike does at this game, the more fun it will be.
November 5, 2014 at 1:50 pm
oh and don’t use the cactus in garden defense mode, only use him in MP because he is almost strictly ranged attack. in garden defense you need powerful aoe dmg, ideally 3 peashooters and a sunflower for dmg/healing. the chomper is also strictly a mp character and is even more useless in garden defense mode than the cactus, but the chomper can be very deadly in mp. i use him a lot and usually get the most kills on my team in team deathmatch. cock.
I watch most stuff you put out and I gotta say this isn’t the direction to go with content. Mike is a bit clueless about gaming, but not in a good way, and while your friend might be a good guy in real life he didn’t come off well here. There’s a million romhacks out there might be better, or even indie retro gaming on steam.
November 5, 2014 at 2:52 pm
I remember when James did an episode on how he recorded his videos and how his server / storage worked for the website, Ryan was in that! I was wondering when we would see him again. Hello Ryan. Good to see you again.
November 5, 2014 at 3:40 pm
Couldn’t agree more about all this multiplayer bs in games today. Paying full price for something that’s online only is ridiculous. It’s reasonable for a downloadable game since those are relatively inexpensive and they need to cut out features in order to stay economical and reduce file size, but a triple A title that you’d buy on a shelf should at least have thrown together something. Anyways, great vid, nice to see you guys address modern day gaming issues, I’d definitely watch more.
November 5, 2014 at 4:08 pm
Reminds me of the old Xbox Conkers Live and Reloaded. The Live part.
November 5, 2014 at 4:30 pm
Nice video. However you guys are totally console noobs which is fine but it’s funny to hear you bitch about not having 1 player. Games like BF COD CS Source CSGO probably should not have a single player. They are multiplayer games and the servers will be up as long as people play them when there is not a community the servers go down this is on PC on console IDK because Consoles kinda suck and are just trying to be PC now adays exept for maybe nintendo my last console was a PS2 and I switched to PC back in 2004 and never looked back.
November 5, 2014 at 4:35 pm
this game is incredible. i’ve been having a blast. the thing i love most is that it’s a fresh new approach to FPS shooters. the game mechanics are very nice and easy to learn. sub-classes and variations of class abilities make the re-play value very high. graphics are actually impressive for a more cartoonish style. i give this game a 9/10.
November 5, 2014 at 5:18 pm
I think Ryan makes a pretty good appearance in the video. He should definitely appear more often in your game videos!
November 5, 2014 at 7:56 pm
Cool. I think it’s great that Ryan gets some face time. Without that dude, this website would not work so well. Looking forward to more Mike & Ryan. Cheers.
November 5, 2014 at 11:08 pm
I strongly recommend that you guys play sunset overdrive.
It’s proof that xbox want to be more than a bunch of cover-based shooters and they even advertise it as such.
November 6, 2014 at 12:13 am
Digging these videos! You should make it a new tradition like James and Mike Mondays, except with more modern games and on a different day. That would be sick! Love you’re guys’ stuff!
November 6, 2014 at 1:20 am
We don’t plan to do this weekly or anything, but every once in a while when we have time.
November 6, 2014 at 12:41 am
This is a game you actually have to go to a store and drop 60 bucks on? I thought this was just some FTP or 15 dollar downloadable title. Yeesh.
I got sick of FPS’s a long time ago.
There’s nothing new to do with the genre.
November 6, 2014 at 5:55 am
I hate that fat kid, please don’t do videos with him anymore
November 6, 2014 at 6:15 am
When they are talking about multiplayer gaming, etc.
The whole gaming industry is going down a horrible road right now.
Multiplayer games only/losing servers so you can no longer play are just the tip of the iceberg.
We are in a gaming world now where we don’t actually “own” the games, we just rent them short term. Nor do we get all intended content.
Withheld content for games that is already on the disc you have paid for, but have to pay again on top to “unlock”.
Most DLC being nothing but a cash grab.
Also mentioned in this vid, having to pay real cash for in game content.
Games being rushed out to meet deadlines with so many bugs & glitches with the safety net that they can be “patched” later.
I miss the days when you brought a game and you got the WHOLE game. Extra characters, costumes, missions, etc. Most of the time they would be hidden extras or secrets you’d have to unlock via playing the game…but they were there and included in the price regardless.
Also, no matter how old the game is, you can still play it (as long as it’s still working).
We are heading into a horrible future for gaming. As I said, we don’t own games anymore just lease/rent them short term. Plus when manufacturers can just switch off a server meaning you can not longer play…it’s a sad state we are heading into.
November 6, 2014 at 9:22 am
At rant about the online, multiplayer-only and ‘community’ aspects of today’s games; THANK YOU!
November 6, 2014 at 10:14 am
Hm, I guess I’m conflicted. I don’t know how much I care for Ryan, personally. Maybe it’s just because he’s ‘new’, just like I remember going, “Why the fuck is this Mike guy in everything?” years ago, but then Mike grew on me pretty quickly and I started to like him as much as James. So maybe the same might apply with Ryan in due time, though it’s hard to tell. Ryan doesn’t show much in the way of humor in this, unfortunately. Maybe in future? Also, a minor thing, and I know people will jump on me for being shallow, but eh… Ryan sticks out amongst ‘Cinemassacre & Friends’, if you will, with his body type. I’m not saying he’s fat or anything, because he’s not, but still. Like I said, minor thing. I’m not going to rage over it.
So those are my opinions on Ryan, if Mike or whomever cares. 😛
November 6, 2014 at 10:15 am
And, yes, I’m fully aware of how much of an asshole I look like. XD
November 6, 2014 at 10:16 am
The camera angles aren’t great for conversation (or everyone should make sure to face forward), but the video and banter was entertaining. Looking forward to more!
November 6, 2014 at 10:35 am
Has either one of you tried The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth? It’s an oldschool style indie game that just got released on PS4, Vita and PC. I’d love to see you fellas play it, it’s a great game!
November 6, 2014 at 10:42 am
Interesting game, thought about picking this title up in the xbox store but I don’t like the fact that its online only. If your connection is out I guess you’re up shyt creek. So many FPS/TPS games available today. They are even adding FPS to Grand Theft Auto 5 due later this month. I have to admit I am a little excited about that its just everything is going FPS. Haven’t turned my xbox one on in a few months. Nov 18th… Ill fix that.
November 6, 2014 at 11:32 am
Mike is like me in that he grew up on Atari, Nintendo, Sega, but continues to play modern games. Where James not so much. He’s kind of moved on in terms of keeping up with the modern gaming scene.
November 6, 2014 at 12:46 pm
Ryan’s commentary on this game and on gaming as a service was very interesting, he should definitely be in more videos. It was a bit hard to hear Ryan, and he sounded distant. But I am looking forward to seeing more videos wit Mike and Ryan! Just please work on the audio! And I am terribly sorry but I don’t like the app.
November 6, 2014 at 10:35 pm
There will be a new app eventually. I’m actually working on another exciting CInemassacre project now you will see soon.
November 6, 2014 at 5:31 pm
Ryan sounds a lot like Randall from Clerks!
November 6, 2014 at 6:06 pm
who’s that guy with Mike.. Ryan? is he a friend of Mike’s or something?
November 6, 2014 at 7:50 pm
Hey Mike and Ryan. Just thought I would let you know as a huge fan that I really enjoyed this video. I love James and Mike play videos because the banter and conversations are very funny and you guys are not afraid to make stupid jokes. I can see Ryan is the same way! I definitely enjoyed this video just as much, so keep making them. I think that Ryan will eventually come out of his shell and become more relaxed and fun to watch, just like Mike did over the years. Thanks!
November 6, 2014 at 9:09 pm
I like the episodes with Mike Matinee.
November 6, 2014 at 10:22 pm
welcome Ryan, hope to see more videos from you and mike soon.
November 6, 2014 at 11:31 pm
Shoot and shoot, that’s about this and past generation is. I guess the reason why shooters look repetitive It’s because you do too little functions on the game to achieve something. I mean like to shoot you have to 1) steer the analogs 2) aim 3) shoot . Instead in Contra, you have to Walk, while be wary of your surroundings by jumping and crouching, while take care of your friend, while taking care of al your lifes, while jump and aim accurately, You see? It’s too much for as simple as the game looks, It’s not. So are most fighting games. I have to defend Destiny because in my opinion you can enjoy the game as you want, I doesn’t tries to appeal everyone as CoD tries or this garden bullshit did by adding shooter on a defense tower game -.- . Destiny have different variations on multiplayer, due to your abilities, and the multiplayer it’s really enjoyable, difficulty its really challenging if you play alone or coop.
November 6, 2014 at 11:33 pm
Oh yeah. I like the way how you guys put your thoughts on modern games, as old school gamers. That will open a lot of minds around who think a lot of mechanics applied on games nowadays, are fun. But simply are not. Yeah like the point and shoot thing
November 7, 2014 at 11:00 pm
I am a retro gamer I was born in 81. the problem is that I’ve played all the old games to death and they are too easy now. most of them anyway. I enjoy newer gaming because I think game technology is amazing now. I never want to see a game with NES graphics again. but when some of these indie games have SNES garphics thats awesome because snes graphix will never get old. regular nes was cool back then but is horribly dated by todays standards in terms of programming and gameplay. if anything, I wish that nintendo would just put about a hundred different versions of Link to the Past. The same game just different maps and puzzles and what not. and maybe some new weapons and enemies, but essentially the same perfect game. btw chrono trigger is the best game of all fucking time.

I feel like Mike just doesn’t fit with modern games. Ryan seems like he knows what he’s talking about. I say we keep Ryan around! WOuld love to see you guys play Rayman Legends on Xbox One together. That’s a great game.

[EFF] filed a petition with the Library of Congress and the US Copyright Office asking that modifying a game be considered fair use when it’s done so that a game can be made playable again after a developer has “abandoned” it and stopped running servers needed to allow gameplay.

I like seeing newer games! Keep these videos coming! And Garden Warfare is an excellent game, by the way!

$50 is a paltry sum for anything to last 50 years and you can’t expect everything you buy to last ’till the end of your days BUT they really need to address this problem because so much effort is wasted. Could any of us really work our blood, sweat and tears into a game knowing that most likely not long after it’s release the support for the game will cease and tons of games not only in private libraries but on shelves everywhere will become instant “landfill”. The only thing they’ve really fixed is the “landfill” part by making digital copies more prevalent but that only saves *their* production costs, the rest of us are still fucked.

I found myself continuously nodding in agreement with what you guys were talking about… this whole online-multiplayer dependency… Ryan’s so right, ten years from now when the servers have been disconnected and taken out of service… what will you actually be getting out of games that lack a single-player experience??

I was just saying to myself, that I would never buy a game that is not timeless and a few moments later you guys brought it up. I so agree with you there.

Mike i dont know if you’re aware that your xbox online gamertag is visible during this video. I don’t know if you try to keep it private I just want to make sure you know incase you try to keep that private to avoid online friend request/messages.

You utter so many statements as if they’re questions?

Go, Ryan! Thanks for all your great technical work! I totally agree with you guys about being able to play games with no single player options, or even games that just throw you headlong into an online game with no experience, like Gotham City Impostors. It’s fun, but it’s hard to learn to play when you keep getting shot. Anyway, thanks for the video, guys!

I don’t like FPS games, but this one looks really inviting and fun. Welcome Ryan to the video part of Cinemassacre XD and thanks for all the hard work on the site!

Something I’ve been really into lately is the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, which is repetitive, but I think it’s incredibly fun. From what I’ve seen here, this looks like it took a lot of ideas from that. Then again, I’m sure me3 took a lot of those ideas from somewhere else..

If you pretty much enjoyed PVZ like me lol then you gotta try out Tapslayer: Alice in Zombieland. been playing it for weeks and I’m hooked! If you’re into shooting games, then that’s the game for you 🙂 hope this helps!
