The AVGN Movie makes its internet debut on Vimeo!
Follow the link for all the details, such as renting and buying options.
https://vimeo.com/ondemand/avgn
We are looking into additional outlets for online distribution, but all the others take much longer to process. In the future, we expect to have the movie available on some other sites too.
Also, the DVD/Blu-ray is in production. It will includeย a feature-length Behind-The-Scenes documentary, outtakes, deleted/extended scenes, a commentary track, some surprises, and the feature movie in 5.1 surround sound. We expect to have it ready by November/December.

September 2, 2014 at 12:27 pm
MAke it for free please!
September 2, 2014 at 12:28 pm
I mean, its not that i dont wanna pay but its my birthday hahaha
September 2, 2014 at 12:29 pm
By the way, this must be in facta very special day for me, my birthday and im the first to comment? Wow, thats a hell of a coincidence!
September 2, 2014 at 12:59 pm
Happy birthday my friend, now it’s time to STFU and rent it if you want to see it. It takes times and money to make a movie… It’s the least you can do, give him something for the fun you will have when you will watch it.
September 2, 2014 at 3:48 pm
someone get this poor soul some bucks
September 2, 2014 at 4:44 pm
Lol Patrice… I am not insinuating that the movie should be free, because I will be gladly paying to see it. HOWEVER… Let’s remember who actually paid to have the movie made. WE DID. And now we get to pay for it again.
Let the money ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL in. Donald Trump is envious of the level of greed.
September 2, 2014 at 7:27 pm
@GuardianAuron He didn’t profit whatsoever off of the donations for the movie; he actually used them for the budget and most likely spent more than he received.
September 3, 2014 at 1:43 am
@George I never insinuated he profited off the donations at all. I mean, none of us here can say definitively what happened to the $325,000 other than the government taking a large portion of it. But again, that wasn’t my point anyway. We… Paid for the movie. Fact.
September 3, 2014 at 2:48 am
@GuardianAuron
You paid to finance the movie. That much was made clear from the start, man. If it wasn’t, the fact that none of the donation tiers included a copy should have tipped you off.
Seems to me like your disappointment is your own fault.
September 3, 2014 at 3:45 am
@GuardianAuron Actually it was said that IndieGoGo took a chunk off the money as a fee, then PayPal did the same, and then Uncle Sam took a chunk as income tax, resulting in a little under 300,000 dollars. I believe Kevin Finn and Sean Keegan said this during a video about crowdfunding on YouTube.
September 3, 2014 at 11:17 am
I guess since Ashens did this with his movie, I don’t really see why this movie can’t have a free YouTube version.
September 3, 2014 at 2:15 pm
Yup, that’s exactly what I am saying Cyber. You like.. Re-worded what I said and acted like it’s supposed to be some kind of epiphany. ha.
Patrice said we should all STFU and give James something for watching the movie because it takes time and money to make it…
Well, it was our money that made it. lol.
That’s all I was saying. I have already paid for the movie. Twice actually now. Lol. *shrug*
September 3, 2014 at 3:36 pm
Throw a fuckin oak stake at your screen and the movie will be free.
September 4, 2014 at 7:37 am
Think of it this way. If you go to the store and buy all new flooring for your house, it doesn’t automatically appear on the floors of your home. You still need to pay someone to install it. Your initial investment helped buy the flooring, but all that money went to making the movie. There is still a lot of money required to finish the project like creating the hard copies of the film and shipping it out, etc. And James can’t be expected to foot the bill for that.
September 5, 2014 at 1:04 am
Ashens movie was part funded by The Multiverse! (I believe he is a partner with them) This is $9.99 (about ยฃ6.40 here) it is worth every penny!
I’ve seen it out in the wild on various sites…. I only wish it would have had a UK cinema release as this EPIC movie deserves the big screen treatment!
Just buy it! James deserves the money as it'[s a great movie and a fantastic stand alone piece… there are nods to the fans but it is in it’s own universe that stands alone from the web series…… BUY IT! my daughter is here tonight (she’s 9) and shes gonna watch it with me (will be my 5th time)
September 5, 2014 at 10:42 pm
If James had actually made a profit off the movie, that would’ve been fine with me. He’s certainly earned success already.
September 7, 2014 at 5:33 am
The movie wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for us, that much is true. But there’s a difference between contributing and seeing a movie. I feel like everyone already knew that they’d have to pay to see the movie, it was never put in as any perk. But that completely aside, as a producer myself (didn’t make anything yet aside school projects), i know how much time and effort goes into making a movie, let alone money. I’m sure he used all of the money put into the movie from the indiegogo campaign, and a lot of his own funds as well. Don’t forget how much you need to pay for; costumes, locations, figurines, actors, sound crew, film crew, everything and everyone will need a pay of some sorts. As James also indicated himself, this movie has been 4 years of his life, that flew by in 2 hours. If i’d spend 4 years producing something, I’d want to see something for it in return as well. I’m also not one to bicker over 10 dollars to own a 2 hour long nerd movie. After seeing it, i’d say money well spend. That aside, I loved the movie, it had some hilarious moments that really made me laugh out loud!
September 3, 2014 at 1:12 am
nice try “first commenter” you aren’t fooling anyone.
September 3, 2014 at 5:03 am
I dont know what you mean by that and i dont give a shit either. Anyway, its great to have the movie being released on my birthday and on top of that being the first commenter. I usually dont give a shit about that but today i do because its special. Thansk for your good wishes patricia.
September 3, 2014 at 9:09 pm
James you should be selling your film on a gaming site:
http://www.gog.com/movies
September 4, 2014 at 10:23 am
I said it too and its right where it should be really. With good OLD games ๐
September 4, 2014 at 8:40 pm
I came specifically to say this as well! James, get this movie on gog.com
September 7, 2014 at 6:47 am
James has given us free entertainment for over a decade. Happy birthday! You get to rent a movie!
September 19, 2014 at 6:44 pm
Don’t rent it, buy it.
September 2, 2014 at 12:35 pm
The day is finally here! Can’t wait to see it ๐
September 4, 2014 at 5:39 am
Don’t. I’m a huge fan of web series, watched everything ~5 times at least, but the movie.. oh god. It sucks. It only uses jokes from series, and other “new” jokes aren’t funny at all. The idea had a potential, but overall…. 2/10 only because I like nerd.
September 2, 2014 at 12:41 pm
Awesome! just grabbed it. Wife and I will watch tonight
September 2, 2014 at 10:24 pm
Wife and I both enjoyed it! Without spoiling, the references were brilliant and funny. You can tell a lot of work went into this film. Thanks for all you do Cinemassacre.
September 2, 2014 at 12:43 pm
Got it, now just gotta wait for the download to finish…
September 2, 2014 at 12:43 pm
Could someone please tell me what file format and resolution the Vimeo On-Demand download is?
September 2, 2014 at 12:48 pm
.mp4, 1280ร720
September 2, 2014 at 12:53 pm
Thank you.
September 2, 2014 at 1:14 pm
Huh. Why only 720p? Is it because James wants to save 1080p for the Blu-ray?
September 3, 2014 at 2:49 am
@Lukas Sprehn
I believe that he mentioned in the last update video that he had to bring the file size down in order to get it online, so I’m gonna guess that’s why.
September 3, 2014 at 3:43 am
@Cyberxon Yes I know that he said that, but the thing is that on Vimeo you do not have to do that. You can upload any file size. It does not matter. You can even add the option for people to download the original video file used when uploading, so if you upload a 4k video, it will stream in 1080p, but you can download the original 4k version.
September 6, 2014 at 12:21 am
The only one of my many players that would play the movie is Realplayer. I was suprised but Divx and Nero showtime wouldn’t run it.
October 23, 2014 at 4:23 pm
Since I’m more of DVD and ITunes guy I can’t say anything about Vimeo On-Demand; but I can say this since I don’t use Netficks I don’t know know the Handel inde movies but As an Hulu Plus user I can say that YES they do offer hosting for inde movies for an fee on top of your Hulu Plus substitution; Yes you need Hulu Plus for them to host your movie unless they set-up an new rule since then.
September 2, 2014 at 12:53 pm
Will it be coming out on DVD/Blu-Ray here in the UK at all
September 2, 2014 at 6:45 pm
Whatever gives you that impression? I’m sure this one will be as widely released as the other 7 DVDs.
September 24, 2014 at 8:03 pm
If it’s region free just buy it no issues at all. Blu-ray doesn’t have that much of an issue since over 90% of Blu-rays region free and have NTSC TV, NTSC Japan, Pal A, and Pal B versions on the same disk. Making it an better choice if your something like an Aime fan or an Pod-caster since you can save alot money by just making 1 disk vs having to make 2 one for NTSC and one for Pal. You can do that on an DVD-R but lowers the time offered for the video. Form it’s max of 8 hours preside to about 4 to 2 hours preside.
September 2, 2014 at 12:57 pm
exelent
I hope to see it with subtitles in Spanish
exelente, espero poder verla con subtitulos en espaรฑol
saludos desde ARICA-CHILE
greetings from ARICA-CHILE
September 2, 2014 at 12:57 pm
Can’t wait to see it again!!!
September 2, 2014 at 1:04 pm
Do James and the rest of the crew get a decent cut from Vimeo? I would love to buy this movie, but I’d like my money to go to the actual moviemakers, at least as much as possible.
September 2, 2014 at 1:15 pm
Vimeo On Demand boasts that the creators get 90% of the revenue left after transaction costs.
September 5, 2014 at 10:48 pm
I was wondering exactly how much of the sales go to the film maker. That’s awesome that he gets 90%. He earned it.
September 2, 2014 at 1:06 pm
Vimeo can’t keep up with the demand.
Technical Difficulties
This video cannot be downloaded any more right now, please try again later.
September 2, 2014 at 1:22 pm
Looks like this is resolved.
September 2, 2014 at 1:06 pm
I can’t watch it on Vimeo, because i can’t pay via PayPal nor credit card. ๐
September 2, 2014 at 4:51 pm
go to the store and get a visa gift card. Why post on here that you cant watch it on vimeo because you cant pay via credit card??? You can pay with credit card your just too lazy
September 2, 2014 at 1:06 pm
YES!! Is there going to be a way we can pre-order the DVD/Bluray, or will it have to wait until it’s finished to order?
September 2, 2014 at 1:08 pm
Although I could be wrong, the rent or buy options could keep it more novel if you ever think of releasing these for DVD or Bluray
September 2, 2014 at 1:12 pm
very dissapointed that there is a charge to watch a movie made of donations…
September 2, 2014 at 1:14 pm
and besides all countries cant use paypal, this is a disaster
September 2, 2014 at 1:21 pm
It’s not just paypal.
September 2, 2014 at 1:50 pm
Pay with your credit card, idiot.
September 2, 2014 at 4:57 pm
OMG dude your a retard these last few posts. Saying fans got gyped. WTF go to the store and get a pre paid credit card. Or wait till it’s on DVD Blue Ray and buy it that way. You say the Credit card is your issue then two posts later you bitch about how it should be free to those who donated. Make up your mind about why you cant watch it. The truth is you can watch it, you just expect everything to be free grow up stop complaining like a lil bitch and buy the fucking movie. All the proceeds from kickstarter or indigogo whatever were put into making the movie. Now it’s time to make money off his year or two of fucking hard work that someone like you will never be able to understand because all you do is sit in your basement bitching on the net. You will never understand the long hours and dedication it takes to make a movie like this or any movie and complete an indie film and get it released as fast as James did. Some indie movies take years after debuting in theater and his was a couple months. Jesus fucking christ the nerve of some people
September 3, 2014 at 8:39 am
yeah… your the one going apeshit before even finish reading my post.
September 2, 2014 at 1:14 pm
Then where is the profit supposed to come from? Shell out the 10 bucks buddy.
September 2, 2014 at 1:16 pm
i would love to but america for some reason decides to use paypal for transaction service…
October 4, 2014 at 4:14 pm
sponsorship, advertisement, netflix etc lol
September 2, 2014 at 1:15 pm
People still don’t get that the fundraiser was to produce the film and not pre-order it? The IndieGoGo.com page didn’t even say anything about getting a copy of the film, so even if people think this is BS, there really isn’t anythign for you people to complain about, since everything was made clear up front.
September 2, 2014 at 1:27 pm
i didnt expect anything when i donated for this movie to hit the big screen, but as he has been talking about everyone being able to watch the movie and being thankfull for the fans to make his dream come true or whatever it was pretty much for granted that it would be free of charge… now alot of people that cant use a credit card will miss out after all, and i dont think thats fair to the community.
when he does this shit for a living, and the product is made out of his own budget, i will gladly pay whatever he demands…
September 2, 2014 at 1:16 pm
Also, you don’t have to use PayPal. You can just pay directly with a credit card.
September 2, 2014 at 7:35 pm
The donations didn’t magically make the film by themselves. It took 4 years of hard work on James’s part and that’s easily work the price of download to support him.
September 2, 2014 at 7:55 pm
8 years if you count the writing and pre-production…
September 3, 2014 at 12:37 am
You do realize that time + money, im pretty sure he stiull own money to the bank and what not. When you donated it was never mentioned that it was for free. So STFU and buy a prepaid credit card no need of paypal.
September 2, 2014 at 1:15 pm
d’oh fuck!!! Is the AVGN movie going to be available on itunes?
September 2, 2014 at 1:16 pm
Eventually it is I believe ๐
September 2, 2014 at 1:18 pm
If you purchase the film from vimeo, is it DRM free?
September 2, 2014 at 4:11 pm
Yep ๐
September 2, 2014 at 10:07 pm
Yes, there is no DRM. Appearently, Vimeo does not use DRM at all. It said so somewhere in the help section. Under “buying VOD” or something, but I don’t have the link anymore.
September 2, 2014 at 1:18 pm
Finally! It’s finally happening. It’s very rare that anything gets me excited, but I have actually been pumped for the AVGN Movie.
September 2, 2014 at 1:22 pm
Bought! Finally can watch this in the UK!
September 2, 2014 at 1:29 pm
I am desperately waiting for the Blu-ray release.
September 2, 2014 at 1:33 pm
I debated a rental until the Bluray becomes available….. then I realized that was stupid.
Now my question is this. Will you guys offer up some autographed copies of the Bluray?
This movie is most likely going to be in the top 2 best movies released this year!
September 2, 2014 at 1:39 pm
Already bought any chance will be Spanish Subtitles? Thx James and team!
September 2, 2014 at 1:42 pm
Dear James R.
I have been an AVGN fan since 2006. Im only 26 mins into the film so far but I must say AMAZING job by everyone! I was a little leery about a 2 hour movie about the AVGN. Would it work? Would it be entertaining? Just finished the dream sequence and Im glad to say my thoughts before were unfounded. This is a great low budget movie (not even unintentionally bad!). The special effects have been great, all the made up video games, cover, signs, background stuff, this is BETTER than I imagined it. I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS on this movie, it works. Your hard work has paid off. I can’t wait to finish it and buy my own physical copy when they become avalible. FUCKING LOVE IT! Thanks for making it and tanks for doing it right.
September 2, 2014 at 1:51 pm
At last, the day has come. Thanks James, purchased it instantly. Greetings from Germany ๐
September 2, 2014 at 2:07 pm
Loved it in theaters and cannot wait for the Blu-Ray! Sounds great with all those awesome special features, thank you for taking the time and energy to put those together for us.
I am going to look into getting the Vimeo version, but I don’t have a computer at home (just an iPad) so might have to just wait until the Blu-ray.
September 2, 2014 at 2:13 pm
FUCKING AWESOME!!!! Cant wait for the Blu-Ray
September 2, 2014 at 2:15 pm
Finished watching it, and it was amazing! A bit slow in the middle, but hell breaks loose soon after that, so everything’s good! Well worth the money! I’ll pick it up on disc as soon as I can! ๐
September 2, 2014 at 2:22 pm
Stop complaining that its not free. He’s given you over 100 episodes for free. Its called showing some support. James is a filmmaker. He needs to feed his family.
September 2, 2014 at 2:24 pm
I bought on vimeo and plan to buy the blu-ray too for the special features. Great job James!
September 2, 2014 at 2:40 pm
Truly amazing James. Nerd fan since ’08 and I’ve been going nuts waiting to see this movie! Hope everything goes amazingly with the rest of the showings (wish I could’ve gone to one but we’re very far away), and can’t wait for the Blu-Ray!
September 2, 2014 at 2:51 pm
I also just purchased the movie. I will watch it later tonight.
September 2, 2014 at 2:54 pm
This is actually the first time I paid for a movie online. I never purchase movies on dvd or bluray. I really want to show my support to the AVGN this way.
September 2, 2014 at 3:01 pm
PLEASE put this on Netflix!
September 2, 2014 at 3:14 pm
I’ve just finished watching the movie. Was all the wait worth the result? Hell yes! =D
It was enjoyable all the way trough and it fully presented the charm all the cinemassacre productions have. Huge thanks to everyone involved, I am gratefull that I’m part of the fanbase โฅ
September 2, 2014 at 3:32 pm
Just finished looking the film
two words : FUCKING AWESOME !
It’s not a high budget film but it’s fun i would like to have a version with subtitles (english ones). But it was WAY worth 5$.
You shown that you had great filming skills even if some was a bit cheesy, but i hope it will help you go bigger, way bigger. And as your film says always care for your fans even if they can take care of themselves.
September 2, 2014 at 3:45 pm
cant wait for the blu ray saw it at comiccon I laughed until my balls fell off Cant wait to see it again
September 2, 2014 at 4:05 pm
James…
It was worth it. Oh so much.
Thanks
September 2, 2014 at 4:12 pm

September 2, 2014 at 4:20 pm

September 2, 2014 at 4:20 pm
I’m having a problem… I purchased the video from Vimeo On-Demand. I even got a receipt for the order, but when I click “Watch Now” on my email, it just goes to the main purchase options page. When I go to my settings it says I have no purchases despite getting an email reciept. Help please?
September 2, 2014 at 4:21 pm
I got that as well I did it twice and got billed a 2nd time I demand a refund now
September 2, 2014 at 4:22 pm
This movie was AWESOME!
September 2, 2014 at 4:31 pm
It would appear many people (including myself) are having problems with vimeo. We really want to watch your movie!
September 2, 2014 at 4:33 pm
I’m wondering if this is a region issue as I am not from the United States. But that’s just a guess…
September 2, 2014 at 4:33 pm
And 30 seconds after I write this it’s working again. Whoops ๐
September 2, 2014 at 4:37 pm
Oh, yep. Working for me now too. Guess it just takes an hour to process (?). Anyway, I’m happy now.
September 2, 2014 at 4:37 pm
I am so proud of what you have achieved here ๐
September 2, 2014 at 4:43 pm
how did you get it to work it said I purchased this twice I still cannot download what a rip off
September 2, 2014 at 4:48 pm
Amazing job with the movie James! I’m proud to be a longtime fan of AVGN and Cinemassacre. This release was an even greater fulfillment than I expected. Thanks for pumping out the greatest shit on the internet!
September 2, 2014 at 4:51 pm
Just finished watching, and I’m amazed by the production values. The team really nailed the visual effects in all styles; I especially enjoyed the model work, reminiscent of the movies many a kid including me and my brother shot… using plenty of fireworks of course! ๐
All and all, it was definitely the AVGN everybody is hoping for and is mostly managed to surpass the grossly inflated expectations that’ve been building over the years. Even the new characters seemed fitting to the sort of B-movie atmosphere you were going for. Loved the cameos, the shoutouts to classic movies and all the cliches you could cram in!
Extra shoutout to Bear’s _excellent_ work on the soundtrack.
Looking forward to new episodes, and seeing this pop up as a sort of weird cultish indie movie in the coming decades… and of course, the bonus features in the near future!
Thanks for the ride, and this is the first time in almost 8 years that I’ve come out of lurking on cinemassacre.com… thought this would be a good occasion for that, being a daily reader and all!
September 2, 2014 at 4:57 pm
god I loved this movie… I’ve been going through a rough patch in my life and it really cheered me up. thanks guys
September 2, 2014 at 4:57 pm
Congrats James and Co. Hope you make lots of money for all your hard work and sacrifices, love the movie!!
September 2, 2014 at 5:09 pm
YeeaahH! I saw the movie in New York and thought it was hilarious, I’ll definitely wait for the blu-ray to see it again for the 5.1 mix!
September 2, 2014 at 5:18 pm
I have never been so excited to watch the credits of a movie my entire life. To the very end this movie was something original and I’ll be ready with my shovel to bury the next best… or worst thing that will spawn another masterpiece from the legendary James Rolfe.
September 2, 2014 at 5:23 pm
So happy the masses can watch it. My internet sucks so I’ll wait for the Blu-Ray.
September 2, 2014 at 5:44 pm
You can still download the mp4. It might take awhile but It will work.
September 2, 2014 at 5:33 pm
I think im gonna wait for the dvd
