Yes, I was actually surprised, and I looked it up finding this creepypasta bullshit named Sonic.exe, so nice surprise there.

my neighbor’s step-sister brought home $20864 a week ago. she has been making cash on the internet and bought a $519900 home. All she did was get lucky and apply the advice exposed on this link

Make me proud, guys. This was the first game I ever beat (at 4 years old! Woo.).

(I clearly am commenting before watching, if that wasn’t already clear, haha)

    June 23, 2014 at 1:29 am

Awesome! Finally the game franchise that made James buy a Genesis. Then I watched the beginning. HOLY CRAP! Why did someone make that???? Oh well. I still love these games. You can buy 1, 2, 3, and CD on the iPhone.

    • June 23, 2014 at 4:54 am

Android too …you can even play it with like PS3 controller ,on the freakin phone. Nexus ftw!

  • June 23, 2014 at 1:34 am

I think sega did release Sonic 1 in widescreen for phones. They also did Sonic CD in widescreen, but that one is actually on consoles.

    • OMA

      June 23, 2014 at 10:59 am

Yeah, there’s already several official Sonic games in 16:9. Sonic 1, 2 & CD for Android are adapted to 16:9 displays, and with either MHL cables or Android TV dongles you can play them on a TV. Add a Bluetooth gamepad to the mix and you’re all set.

  • June 23, 2014 at 1:38 am

what the heck are they playing?

  • June 23, 2014 at 2:08 am

Sonic was only good in 2D

  • Aaron1375

    June 23, 2014 at 2:08 am

Loved seeing Sonic with the nice stabbing upwards!

  • Don Skiver

    June 23, 2014 at 2:13 am

That posessed sonic game was fucked up. You should totally use that cartridge to fuck with a bunch of little kids and scare the ever loving shit out of them lol.

    June 23, 2014 at 2:14 am

  • Mattashell

    June 23, 2014 at 3:23 am

I dig how you guys played Splatterhouse on Friday the 13th and now you’re playing Sonic games on Sonic’s birthday.

  • June 23, 2014 at 3:35 am

Wow the original Sonic.exe on the cartridge. That caught me by surprise.
Mike’s right, i saw Sonic in Mario Bros. in this video and i was like, cool, and that’s all. Now there’s plenty of this stuff.

My absolute favorite is Super Toad 67, it’s the most crazy Mario hack i’ve ever seen.

  • June 23, 2014 at 3:56 am

That’s awesome! The demonic one freaked me out. lol

  • June 23, 2014 at 4:52 am

    lmao u guys r nuts …

  • June 23, 2014 at 5:28 am

Funny thing is that Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and CD are actually released to the iPad and Android at this point which have the widescreen feature as well. Those re-releases are made by indie developer Christian Whitehead. Not sure when he is gonna do re-release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles as well.

  • Uncle Sporkums

    June 23, 2014 at 5:48 am

Well, I’m going to invest in plenty of caffeine after seeing that demon Sonic game..

  • June 23, 2014 at 7:42 am

I don’T know about Sonic in widescreen but, hey!, here’s Mario in widescreen!

Yea I’ve played Super Mario Crossover before. I like it but after awhile gets hard/old. I prefer the Contra guy. Love that Spread gun!

  • June 23, 2014 at 9:10 am

  • June 23, 2014 at 11:06 am

thank god for mondays, awesome video

  • June 23, 2014 at 11:07 am

James, you mentioned that the sonic games would be good to play in widescreen? The iOS and android versions have already been remastered in widescreen and they’re gorgeous. The hidden palace level has also been finished in Sonic 2.

  • Michael Winters

    June 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm

Ha. It’s Sonic’s birthday. Is that intentional or just a coincidence?

  • June 23, 2014 at 1:01 pm

  • Joker83

    June 23, 2014 at 1:55 pm

  • Elias Mochan

    June 23, 2014 at 2:51 pm

I think those buble aura and fire aura are from Sonic The Hedgehog 3, but I’m not sure. I’m sure they appear on Sonic & Knuckles.

  • June 23, 2014 at 3:26 pm

    he-man….man

  • Grandmasterp

    June 23, 2014 at 3:36 pm

Happy birthday Sonic!!! You creepy little bastard… Just kidding. Nice tribute to the sega genesis mascot. Sonic games are “blasty def, man.”

  • yoshi061

    June 23, 2014 at 3:41 pm

Sonic 1 was made in widescreen for iOS and Android.

  • June 23, 2014 at 3:44 pm

The PS3/360/PC port of Sonic CD is in legit 16/9, using a new engine instead of an emulation layer like the Mega Collection games.

And Megamix is pretty fun- basically chopped bits of different sonic levels with the powerups and mapper from Sonic 3. Someone also jimmied Knuckles into 1 which is pretty fun- not sure if that exists as a real cart though.

  • S1eeper

    June 23, 2014 at 3:53 pm

That fricken sonic screamer scared the SHIT outta me!

    • S1eeper

      June 23, 2014 at 3:54 pm

Ps. Love your faces throughout everything that happened for the bloody sonic game lol.

  • June 23, 2014 at 4:03 pm

never thought you guys would play sonic.exe lol

  • Manolito Mystiq

    June 23, 2014 at 4:16 pm

There are 21:9 screens. Philips started with it (but stopped making them).

    21:9 = 2.33…:1 which is pretty close to 2.35:1

LG still makes them. One recent monitor is the LG 34UM95. LinusTechTips has a nice review. I’m not so sure about huge tv screens (like Philips produced), though.

  • Trevor Bailey

    June 23, 2014 at 4:52 pm

So how does one get a copy of this possessed sonic cart? I want one so I can freak my roommate out.

  • June 23, 2014 at 4:59 pm

The official title of the first Rom hack is “An Ordinary Sonic Rom Hack” for all you people who want to find the game on Google or something, and it’s actually playable.

    June 23, 2014 at 5:53 pm

“Super widescreen” TV’s do exist nowadays. Vizio’s offering is named “Cinemawide”, and the screen has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 or 21:9. I think they come in 4K too. Most modern movies are shot in this format, and such a TV would eliminate the black bars when viewing them.

  • marclawson

    June 23, 2014 at 6:21 pm

That first game scared the hell out of me. Keep that game away from people with an anxiety disorder; that horrific double would surely throw them into a panic. Sheer terror.

  • jerry lowe

    June 23, 2014 at 6:52 pm

I always loved SEGA… I had the master system, genesis and gamegear skipped 32x, skipped sega-cd, skipped Saturn and on 9/9/99 bought a Dreamcast… Word of mouth from school friends helped me skip the Sega crap years. LMAO still would love to get a decent Nomad system

  • Layla Garcia

    June 23, 2014 at 9:51 pm

That Bare Knuckle 3 with Sonic looks fun.

  • June 23, 2014 at 10:43 pm

Man, I was caught off guard for the first game!

  • Jcr3ws

    June 23, 2014 at 11:01 pm

I saw another scary sonic hack on creepy pasta with tails getting chased by devil sonic haha. also I think the genesis has great resolution for led screens so i wouldnt be surprised if just a widescreen tv or setting would scout ahead for you.

  • frostare

    June 23, 2014 at 11:24 pm

Have you heard of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion? Really cool crossover game, you should check it out.

  • June 23, 2014 at 11:25 pm

After doing a little research I found the first game is actually called “An Ordinary Sonic 1 ROM Hack”, which was inspired by the creepypasta mod “Sonic.exe”.

    • June 23, 2014 at 11:27 pm

The game is quite playable, you just have to avoid the red rings and hit one the pickup boxes before evil sonic grabs you.

  • Ace

    June 24, 2014 at 8:24 am

Sonic should have a knife in every game

I’m always amazed watching Mike play Mario games. Can tell he didn’t play a lot of Sonic growing up like I did! lol.

  • Smokingspoon

    June 24, 2014 at 3:01 pm

Well, funny you guys would say that! When I was a kid I remember a friend of my older brother had some kind of homebrewed adapter on the snes to play CDs on it. It was pretty exceptional, for me, to see this in the early 90’s. Not sure if the sega game I saw on it were not just regular port though.

  • DanteAlexander

    June 24, 2014 at 3:13 pm

I was always curious to see if James and Mike were ever going to put gaming Creepypastas on here. This video answered that question. Great video! I swear, that Sonic.exe intro is like being Rick-Rolled.

  • J1a8son

    June 24, 2014 at 6:49 pm

Wasn’t expecting to see Sonic EXE layed on here. That caught me by surprise. The PanterA shirt helps add to that evil feeling haha. CFH 4 life man!! \m/

Awesome James and Mike Monday. If you want my awesome idea, how about James and Mike Mondays on DVD?;) Out of these hacks, the creepy one was my favorite. Did that last one have Mighty and Shadow in it? If so, you should have picked another character, just to see how it played.

  • Pablo1989

    June 25, 2014 at 7:15 am

Ahh creepypasta version of Sonic they wont scary me 🙂 just plug micro jack from old headpohnes and scary nosies GONE!

  • June 25, 2014 at 9:03 am

Hearing Mike say “That was very blasty!” in a Pee Wee Herman voice may be the funniest thing on this site! I could totally hear Pee Wee himself saying that. “Ok kids, today’s secret word is..BLASTY! And you all know what to do when you hear the secret word? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

  • skwij

    June 25, 2014 at 9:35 am

    June 25, 2014 at 11:33 pm

”Sonic has a knife!… Sonic just got shot.” LOL! I would’ve never imagined

  • June 26, 2014 at 3:20 am

From what I’ve heard, with the first game they played, to “escape” the twisted sonic that is chasing you, you apparently have to break one of the ring monitors, which takes you back to the normal area for a random time (could be 20 seconds, could be 3 seconds) so you want to make sure to not break monitors unnecessarily.

  • June 26, 2014 at 3:46 am

I was expecting Sonic… not these ones. They are pretty intense and different. Haha! Love this great work guys!

  • Kreta_TX

    June 26, 2014 at 7:40 am

  • RetroGamingTeen

    June 27, 2014 at 7:33 pm

They should actually play what that demonic sonic game is based off of. Sonic.exe

  • Will

    July 4, 2014 at 11:24 pm

Hey James and Mike big fan of yours videos . after watching the evil inverted sonic game I actually tried the game and their is a way to stop the evil sonic form killing you. the boxes that usually hold rings turn to static in the evil land. when you land on one it brings sonic back to the regular game. you also get an extra life for every 100 points you get.

    • TheGlitchWhoStoleChristmas

      July 4, 2014 at 11:27 pm

Meanwhile, Vinesauce Vinney does his own hacking for Mario.
