So glad to see this come to James and Mike Mondays.

  • May 26, 2014 at 12:32 am

Awesome video. The edit away from that Donkey Kong game, and the extreme closeup has me laughing hard. Also Mike looked extremely mischievous while playing hide and seek. Hilarious.

Say what you want about PS3 updates. At least I can play their content without it needing to load every 3 minutes like on your site…I’m totally serious. I can’t watch a video on your site without it having to load every 3 minutes.

    • May 26, 2014 at 6:14 am

I’m pretty sure that has to do with your internet connection.

    • May 26, 2014 at 10:53 am

Might need a newer pc or better internet. Mine streams fine.

Awww, did James and Mike say mean things about your precious PS3? I can’t say that I’ve ever run into that problem. Must be something on your end.

    • May 27, 2014 at 9:29 am

That’s your computer’s fault. Fix it

    • June 1, 2014 at 6:30 am

If you guys like Link to the Past so much, you should play the LTP hack Parallel Worlds. It’d make a great James & Mike video.

Great vid, guys. You should check out the PS4 if you want more variety in games. Theres a bunch of indy games and you don’t have to update every time you turn it on. πŸ™‚

    • IbanezJFS

      May 26, 2014 at 1:30 am

Thats another thing too, I own a PS3 and it doesn’t ask me to update it every time I turn it on. In fact it hasn’t asked me to update in months.

  • Tross

    May 26, 2014 at 1:46 am

Clearly you guys don’t turn your ps3 on very often. It does updates once a month, if that, and I assure you, they don’t take as long as the update you just did on the wii u.

I just don’t understand Nintendo’s end game, with their consoles. Maybe they would have more success if they didn’t push some kind of gimmick that adds nothing to the overall experience, and just makes games cumbersome and unpleasant. Of course, if they actually put effort into making reasonable hardware, maybe they wouldn’t have to fall back on gimmicks. At least they seem to know what they’re doing with their handhelds. The 3ds is awesome IMHO. Oh well, awesome vid anyways. At least you’ve managed to have fun with the wii u’s gimmicks, even if it’s not the way the controller was intended to be used.

      May 26, 2014 at 10:42 pm

I can’t speak for James and Mike, but I stopped turning my PS3 on specifically because either the system or whatever game it was that I sat down to play needed to be updated whenever I did, just about every time without fail. I never had all that much time to play games, so it was a huge buzz-kill whenever I did manage to find some time in my busy schedule to do so, only to have to wait upwards of thirty minutes for the system’s shitty wi-fi to pull down an update that’s almost half the size of the game itself before finally getting to play. That was sadly not an uncommon enough occurrence for my tastes, so I just stopped bothering with my PS3 altogether. Granted, I could have turned the internet off before I sat down to play, but with publishers releasing half-finished, bug-ridden shit it just really wasn’t an option.

As far as what Nintendo’s end-game is, I can only guess that it has taken notice of how astronomically high development costs have risen thanks to folks like you whose myopic demand for faster systems and prettier graphics have made it so a publisher can sell four-million copies of its latest game and still consider it to be a financial failure, and have chosen to pursue a far more sustainable business model. Nintendo clearly believes that offering up great gameplay experiences is far more important than what’s under a console’s hood, and though it has sadly met with little success this time out its goal obviously remains to bring gaming to as wide an audience as possible.

That’s more than can be said for Sony and Microsoft. What little that stands to differentiate the PS4 and XBox One from their respective predecessors can easily be considered “gimmicks” in their own right, and worse, they’re “gimmicks” that don’t even offer what few meaningful gameplay applications that the Wii U Gamepad does. It’s quite obvious that Sony and Microsoft’s respective end-games are to simply offer us prettier versions of the same games that we’ve been playing for years, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with that, I guess I just don’t understand why they get a free pass for it while folks like you appear to be all too eager to crucify Nintendo in spite of how it at least dares to try something different, for better or for worse.

Listen, I actually enjoy my PS4 in spite of its complete and total lack of meaningful contributions to the advancement of the hobby, but then I also enjoy my Wii U in spite of its comparative lack of horsepower to the PS4. I don’t really need Sony to innovate any more than I need Nintendo to provide an amped-up uber-system. It’s ultimately about the games for me, and both the PS4 and Wii U have plenty available for them that are worth playing. I just read posts like yours and end up getting flustered by the reminder that few self-proclaimed gamers actually give as much of a shit about experiencing as wide a range of games as possible as they do about being closed-minded twats. Time was that we’d eagerly play whatever we could get our hands on regardless of what system it was on, but these days it seems like people are more content by far to lock themselves into a single gaming ecosystem and then shit on everything else. That’s not just pathetic, it’s harmful to the health of the industry as well.

      Meh.

I loved hearing your comments about the Xbox One, haha. You have good points about the constant updates and such. There’s a new Wolfenstein game that just came out that has to do an update over 7GB when you initially start it; it’s pretty crazy.

It would be awesome to have a video where both of you talk about your opinions on the new consoles. I totally agree with your thoughts on the overload of too many first person shooters on Xbox One; it’s a shame that Microsoft seems to put most of their focus into that genre alone. Hopefully there’ll be more exciting things announced at E3 in June.

Personally I think you’d get a lot more out of a PS4 than an Xbox One; Sony doesn’t have such a focus on first person shooters.

By the way – are you two looking forward to Mario Kart 8 on WiiU? That game will undoubtedly make for some hilarious videos.

It’s the voices he does in his own video “The Wizard Of Oz 3: Dorothy Goes To Hell”; He’s doing the Munchkins. Those guys also were featured in the AVGN “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and “The Wizard Of Oz 3: Dorothy Goes To Hell” was the first appearance of Shit Pickle and Super Mecha Death Christ.

The Wii U is on freakin fire right now. Mario Kart next week! Hell Yeah!

  • May 26, 2014 at 2:25 am

Mike you should give a try at Dead Rising 3 on Xbox ONE. James is gonna love it. It’s short of sandbox game with zombies inspired by Dawn of the dead and other zombie movies.

    • May 26, 2014 at 11:01 am

I played Dead Rising 3. That was the game I got with the console when it launched. I liked the theme. But I personally thought the controls were pretty bad. So that sort of ruined it for me.

How can you say “adult” games aren’t creative, than list that Remix thing as an example of a creative game? You know, the game that is literally just pieces of 20 year old other games? Or Mario Kart 15? Or Super Mario Bros: Here’s a new type of Mushroom?

    • May 26, 2014 at 4:08 am

Rayman Origins is pretty creative for example.

    • Cyberxion

      May 26, 2014 at 10:57 pm

Jesus, are all younger gamers fucking retarded, or are you being obtuse on purpose? Remix is creative in its execution. It’s about how it leverages those snippets of old games. It’s not fucking rocket-science, you stupid shit-heel.

As for Mario Kart and whatever the fuck Mario game to which you are referring, any commonalities you notice between them and their predecessors are owed to the nature of fucking sequels. They always share certain common elements with their predecessors, otherwise they wouldn’t be sequels, you brain-dead, mouth-breathing, Cheeto-stained, morbidly obese, neck-bearded, sunlight-fearing, mongoloid half-wit. However, that a game is a sequel doesn’t preclude creativity, and I can only guess that it’s due to the severe brain trauma that you suffered when your mother “accidentally” dropped you on your head as a baby that you even dared to imply that it does.

But yeah, chances are better than good that you never played any of the games about which you presume you have any authority to speak. Your lot never does. You just perceive a slight against something you like and go on the attack like a rabid fanboy, foaming at the mouth as you smear the textual equivalent of diarrhea all over your keyboard.

Very nice video. I do agree with everything that was said about updates. I guess no one likes them so why are they becoming more frequent all the time..
Also – a lot of “fucking” going on at the beginning. It was a little distracting to listen. Even though I assume it is not scripted at all (and it’a about “fucking Xbox One”).

    May 26, 2014 at 3:24 am

I’m sure it’s been said- the Wii U is like…an actual GAME console.

The PS4 and XBox One just…they just felt like lesser computers. Also lack of backward compatibility from both- if I want to play a PS3 game on a PS4? Nope. Lack of backwards compatibility on new consoles? THAT is bullshit.

  • May 26, 2014 at 3:25 am

I prefer the multiplayer on DKCTF, SM3DW or TW101, but because it’s my personal taste.
It’s just that i like to see multiplayer in games with a strong single player component, that’s all.

  • May 26, 2014 at 3:52 am

Xbone comes with voice control, even though its like telling your dog to do tricks. Well, the new games are new on the next generation console. Like with when SNES came out, it only had a few launch games

Look at Wii-U its been out for so long, and its come out with… what eight games and its like over a year old?

  • Griff

    May 26, 2014 at 4:07 am

  • May 26, 2014 at 4:07 am

Why Link has no hands? What were they smoking, lol.

  • May 26, 2014 at 4:16 am

Good James and Mike Monday as usually.. but I’m not sure why they complained about PS3 updates.. it normally only updates a few times a year.. unless your install in a new game and that game has an update.. there hasn’t been a system update since February.. which was months ago…

  • May 26, 2014 at 4:23 am

I’d love to see you guys play Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES! It’s an awesome game.

  • May 26, 2014 at 4:31 am

Nintendo seems scared of HDTV’s.. maybe that’s why they want you to ignore it and play games on the giant tablet thing

  • WolfSaviorZX

    May 26, 2014 at 5:05 am

Hey Mike try Super Time Force on Xbone. It’s on 360 as well but xbone’s dpad is way better. It’s like Contra/Megaman and it’s a “Single Player Co-Op Game” really innovative. Hope they release a new Banjo Game. Xbox Mangement has been shaken up recently and a Real Gamer is in charge now so hopefully we get a lot of non-shooters from them soon

  • Bizarro

    May 26, 2014 at 7:21 am

I think it’s a little unfair to say that the Xbox One has nothing but First-person shooters at the moment. I don’t want to sound like a shill, but apart from Titanfall I can’t think of any other FPS currently available on the platform that isn’t also on the others (Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Wolfenstein are the only ones that come to mind…those are not exclusive). Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Forza, and Garden Warfare are all great fun and they’re not first person shooters.
I guess it’s just the stigma that people have about the Xbox “family” in general, considering that Halo is basically the face of the brand.

    • meanspirit

      May 26, 2014 at 7:55 am

I kinda agree with Mike a little though, it’s difficult to argue that the focus is on action (if not purely first person) more than other genres. I thought complaining about a lack of remote was a bit silly though. I am always tempted by the Wii U, but the fact that Nintendo also has a limited catalogue and barely any third part support is just as annoying as the Xbox action bias.

I dislike the XboxOne as much as any other person, but I still can’t help but find it hilarious how they talk about shooters, then launch Nintendo Land… and half of it is shooters, too.

  • wayward

    May 26, 2014 at 9:25 am

Great video, but I can’t believe you skipped over Luigi’s Mansion! That was my fave in Nintendoland and I thought you’d have a blast with it.

  • May 26, 2014 at 9:34 am

The part at the end is awesome. What a time to wear your Wayne’s World shirt Mike, haha.

  • May 26, 2014 at 9:35 am

I wouldn’t say WiiU and Nintendo are that “creative”. Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, pretty much all the same game every time, just new levels. NES Remix is just rehashing their old games. New Pokemon remakes are coming out, again. Even new Pokemon games, its the same shit over again.

No one buys a Xbox One just for bluray Mike. MUCH CHEAPER options out there. If you bought the Xbox One just for bluray, sorry you’re an idiot. Now there’s an Xbox One that’s $100 cheaper to the PS4’s price.

Has any system ever come with a remote control? The controller works with it just fine. Playing movies is not its primary function, its a video game console, so I don’t think it should come with a remote. Some people might not watch movies at all on it. Learn how to use the controller, its not hard at all. Should take 10 minutes.

I love ya Mike, but I gotta disagree with ya in this video. I do have to say, Nintendo needs to bring back F-Zero, super HD it for WiiU, and play it on that TV. Would be AWESOME!

    • May 26, 2014 at 11:04 am

I did not buy the Xbox one JUST for the blu ray. I mainly bought it because I thought there might be some games I’d like on the system. So far, there are none. But hopefully someday there will be.

      • May 26, 2014 at 11:44 am

thank you! so agree with mike

      • May 26, 2014 at 12:05 pm

Yeah, really people are starting to get annoying still complaing about lack of Wii U games, it’s much more than PS4 and XBO combined and it’s very much varied and creative than the usual realistic game with guns.

Also i think they don’t understand you’re talking exclusive. You should do a video about exclusives and why old timers like us buy consoles for games and not for graphics, i understand you but many people are buying PS4 just for graphics.

Even if Uncharted 4 and The Order 1886 are realistic shooters they don’t understand there’s people needing some creativity here.

      • fanboyfilms

        May 28, 2014 at 11:27 pm

When I bought my PS2 I primarily used it to watch DVDs. Sony did sell a PS2 DVD remote for about $20 that I picked up. You could access DVD menu controls with the PS2 controller but you couldn’t enter numbers for chapter selects, etc, so the DVD remote was a welcome addition. They didn’t do that for Xbox One huh?

  • May 26, 2014 at 10:04 am

At around the 12:00 mark, James mentions microscopic NES games on an HD tv. Well he’s describing exactly what I do with my Atlas Videos channel on YouTube! Please check it out as I would love to hear both of your opinions on it. You can see exactly what James was envisioning with Metroid!

    Atlas Videos on YouTube

  • May 26, 2014 at 10:53 am

that was funny! I felt like you could have made it longer. like you didnt play all the games in nintendo land. an i felt you should have plaid two player with the zelda game it would have made it alot more fun for you. I really hope you do a fallow up video with co-op zelda and the rest of the games you didnt play. maybe even a live stream could be cool. trust me you can make the videos as long as you want people wont get bored. I feel a few of your james & mike mondays was cuter a little too short. 15 minutes is ok but you can really double that. with let’s plays you really need more time. half the video was a update and install an i did like what you was talking about but i wanted to see you play more of the game and that topic would have made for a great other video. i understand you dont want to just dump out videos an want them all to be extra good but i feel like you can release videos more often but maybe thats just me an i cant get enough angry nerd. anyways james much love toward you an the whole crew thanks for all the videos an keep up the great work

  • May 26, 2014 at 11:01 am

    shoulda got a PS4, mike!

    • May 26, 2014 at 12:11 pm

Nope he wants games that are not shooters, a console that has Uncharted 4 and The Order 1886 as the 2 big titles of 2014 is totally not for him. He could buy it and follow your advice, and they you will get another angry video about console shooters, not to mention the already out Killzone, stop thinking about power in a console, it need games that make you escape reality not think you could do at a Shooting Range for a much lower price than a console. Kids these days, graphics and reality, you’re gonna get sick of it.
Sony and Microsoft declaring that this E3 2014 is all dedicated to the western audience already feels an incoming trainwreck.

        May 26, 2014 at 1:12 pm

I don’t know, look at the list of PS4 games on Wikipedia, it seems like a well rounded console. For example there are about 16 FPS games, but there are also 11 platformers and 14 puzzle games. It just came out, it’s not exactly going to have a huge library right away. No I don’t own it btw, so this isn’t fanboyism.

You guys need to get a hold of “Konami Wai Wai World” for the Famicom. Ever wanted to play a video game where Simon Belmont, King Kong, Mikey from the Goonies, and a Gradius Moai head all team up together to save the world? You can in Konami Wai Wai World! Konami even tried to create their own short-lived mascots for the game, Konami Boy and Konami Girl (also in the game). It’s a fun action platformer with good old-fashioned famicom graphics and sound. I highly recommend you guys try it out and play it for us some day.

  • May 26, 2014 at 11:56 am

You guys could’ve pressed ‘Start Software’ and it’ll update while you play the game…..

    • May 26, 2014 at 12:05 pm

It’ll download the update anyway…and install the next time you exit the game or whatever.

  • May 26, 2014 at 12:34 pm

Mike, the Xbox One doesn’t come with a remote because they want you to use the app SmartGlass, via your phone, so you don’t have to buy a remote.

What a strange way to play a game. You look at the gamepad to play, while you jack up the electric bill running a TV for no reason. I don’t get it.

  • AbsoluteDeicide

    May 26, 2014 at 2:16 pm

Nice video, but Christ it’s painful to watch you guys (and Pat) talk about current gen gaming. Xbox One has “only FPS”? Seriously? It has Titanfall (great game), but it also has Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Forza 4, Ryse, Super Time Force, and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood if you really need a platformer aimed at kids.

It’d be much more accurate to say, “Wii U only has platformers” seeing how about 90% of the games worth playing on the system really are platformers. And the reason you don’t see the Wii U mentioned as part of the current XB1/PS4 conversation is because it’s very close to becoming a dead platform already, with extremely poor sales and rumors of Nintendo working on a new system.

I own all three current gen consoles and try to respect everyone’s opinion, but some of your complaints seem very misguided; like how is using the wireless controller any different from having a remote?

    • May 26, 2014 at 4:33 pm

For one thing – Fast Forward, Rewind and frame by frame were nearly impossible without the remote.

      • AbsoluteDeicide

        May 26, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Fast Forward is Right Trigger, Rewind is Left Trigger, and if you press A to pause and select the three dots (…) on the bottom of the screen it brings up more options than you could possibly need, including jumping to any frame in the movie.

Personally I find it more convienient to just use the Kinect (“Xbox Pause”, take leak, “Xbox Play”) because you don’t have to touch anything at all and can do it in the dark.

Either way it’s kind of a silly complaint seeing as the Wii U doesn’t play Blu-Rays at all.

    • wespaul

      May 26, 2014 at 4:40 pm

I agree. The rant was painful to watch because it wasn’t founded in any reality. The console is a half year old and there’s plenty of games that aren’t FPS. It’s like he had a problem that there were even any FPS games on it to begin with. I was waiting for some sort of articulation for the argument but instead watched him stammer and mention Titanfall and a half-baked joke about xbox zero.

The commentaries can’t all be gems, though, and Mike hits more than he misses with me. I’m still a fan.

  • May 26, 2014 at 2:17 pm

Microsoft shouldn’t have fucked over Oddworld Inhabitants. The Oddworld games that haven’t come to be are the ones he is describing in the beginning of this video.

  • May 26, 2014 at 3:22 pm

wow, shut the fuck up mike, you seriously are a moron, and you should just stick to playing old games… buying an xbox1 to only use it as a blu ray player?? and are you seriously complaining about not getting a remote with it?? god damn… yeah im also going to take you seriously after using fuck as a comma… get the fuck out of here. btw your joke about the xbone was seriously not funny

on a side not for people who will brand me a fanboy, i own zero microsoft consoles, i just seriously think mike is an idiot

Very funny as usual guys! Wii U is actually a much cooler system than most give it credit for. Hopefully you’ll do a Mario Kart 8 episode soon!

I have the Wii U and PS4 and honestly I play the Wii U more overall. Resolution, framerate, polygon-counts, GFLOPS, RAM etc only go so far, but one thing Nintendo has down is FUN!

I’ll probably pickup the Xbox One as well now that It’ll come without the NSA Spycam 2.0 for $100 less. I like owning all the hardware so I can play ANY game I want without barriers.

  • Weldin Dunn

    May 26, 2014 at 6:22 pm

I agree the Wii U is really being misunderstood. PS4 and XBOX ONE are all crappy games, except GTA 5. Other than that, there’s only shooters. THEY’RE ALL THE SAME GAME!!!!!! Even South Park: The Stick of Truth didn’t want to be on PS4 or XBOX ONE. It’s ridiculous. Nintendo Land is really fun though. It’s a game Nintendo hasn’t ever done. In my opinion, I think the Donkey Kong game is the best. The Legend of zelda is my second favorite. My least favorite is probably the Mario game is my least favorite. It’s pretty boring and has been done too many times. Even on the Odyssey.

    • Dan O'Neill

      May 28, 2014 at 2:55 pm

The funny part about them having “all crappy games except GTA 5” is that GTA 5 isn’t on PS4 or Xbox One.

I love my PS4, but I definitely still play my Wii U a whole lot more.

        November 19, 2014 at 7:42 pm

Yeah, when I wrote that I thought they had put it on there, but no, it was just the fact that they had announced it about two months before this, and they only just put in Xbox one and ps4 a couple days ago.

  • SleeplessKnight

    May 26, 2014 at 6:25 pm

And Mike, I would NOT sit the Master System on top of the Xbox One – It’s a Microsoft console so the more ventilation the better! It may not physically have the “Red Ring of Death” like the 360 had, and I hope to God it’s built better than the 360 was, but still man you’re taking a HUGE risk of having a $500 doorstop having it like that!

There stereotyping of PS3/Xbox/PS4/Bone players as just shooter fans is a little ridiculous though. The derision implies some kind of ‘better’ appreciation for other genres of games or something on your part, but the reality is the Wii and Wii U lack ALL GENRES of game compared to the other systems. Yes, shooters are AAA big name titles, but there are better games in every fucking category accross the board, because those systems sell better, have more informed gamers in general (Wii anyway, Wii U the numbers alone make any other metric irrelevent to publishers), and are more powerful.Sorry Mike, I didn’t buy an Xbox to play Halo exclusively (although Halo is certainly better than a great many first party nintendo games anymore), and maybe you’re the one that needs to broaden your horizons a bit. Yeah, the Bone and the PS4 have pretty meager libraries right now – MAYBE even worse than the Wii U, I think it’s a valid stance, all of 6 months after their launches. But they still have decent games that aren’t FPS too. Just smacks of the kind of attitude that most nintendo fans are derided for: Nobody HATES nintendo games, but the notion that the only thing you like if you don’t love Nintendo is Call of Duty? That shit got tired 7 years ago and isn’t any more true than anyone saying Nintendo systems are ‘kiddie’

I get that you clearly at least on some level realize it since you bothered to buy the systems, but I feel like it’s also patently obvious that you guys don’t give them much of a chance – your PS3 wouldn’t be updating that often if you ever actually played it. Yeah, I’d prefer it not have to either, but mostly it’s telling as to how much you aren’t looking into the libraries. There’s literally no reason to blow the Wii U and scoff at the PS3 unless you prefer a game simply have the Nintendo logo – there’s no game you can get on the Wii U that isn’t eclipsed several times over on the 360 or PS3. Either in quality or quantity.

  • May 26, 2014 at 7:40 pm

You probably know already (and it may have been commented already), but I believe it’s short for Xbox all-in-One. Since they had the hdmi input for TV and overlays/stats for sports, they were shooting for an “all-in-one” system. Also, I think the 360 in Xbox 360 was symbolic of that system being for everyone (it came “full circle” if I recall).

To be honest, I think the “One” stands for the fact that they were missing “one” thing for the console: good games…

Glad to see the Wii U getting some love! It really does have the best games out now and the most fun looking games coming out. The other systems definately have more games but not better. N64 was my favorite system ever and it had way less games than PS1.

    May 26, 2014 at 9:26 pm

I wish you guys would of played more of this game! There is quite a bit to it and I think you could of had a cool long video. Zelda is much better played with two or more people. Perhaps it should of been like the previous RC Pro AM game where you had an extra person there to play with as the game is most fun with 3-5 people.

I wish they WOULD have played Titanfall instead of this giggle laugh smile wink happy fun time kid game stuff that nintendo has been doing since the N64. That or play NES and SNES games only. Because we all know the Genesis sucked. Every game for it had the same tinny sound effects because the genesis mainboard was crap.

    May 27, 2014 at 7:50 am

Very cool. There’s actually a lot of hidden depth to some of these games. For instance, you guys should really try getting multiple people in the room and playing the “campaign” mode of the Metroid game, with one person in the ship and everyone else on the ground. Its a really great time.

  • May 27, 2014 at 8:26 am

What happened to load/turn-on times? The NES came on lightning-fast, so did the 2600, the SNES took a few seconds and now these consoles take ages to boot up! Although I must say I enjoyed the talk during startup.
What’s next, consoles that retreive their games from the cloud (using it as a random access medium, not buffering anything)?
Also, what’s up with Zelda? Looked like Kirby’s epic yarn! That game sucked! It’s like James said, you can’t call it a game if you can’t even die!

Btw. I just made a Shit Pickle Screensaver for After Dark.

  • May 27, 2014 at 12:24 pm

The Wii-Games may be somewhat creative but they are childish, hands down.
I canΒ΄t speak for the Microsoft product, but the PS3 has plenty of decent adult games, you just have to discover them.

I completely agree about the new generation of game consoles having practically NO variety. Just the same FPS games that I could play on my computer with better graphics anyway. Glad I didn’t spend 400, 500 bucks. I’d rather buy a few hundred Rolling Rock beers and play some sega genesis!

  • May 27, 2014 at 10:19 pm

Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon, Super Time Force, and Forza 5 are probably the best first-person shooters the Xbox One has until Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break release. At least make it funny when you’re trolling, like the pretend product placement you mentioned.

Your complaint about the XBox one and PS4 completely ignores the fact that the PS4 already has a library of downloadable games that is larger than the Wii U’s, and includes platformers, 2D action games, and cool nintendo style oddities like Octodad.

    • May 28, 2014 at 9:01 pm

My Wii U has been hated on since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. Tho it will finally get some justice on Mario Kart Friday! The support you guys give Nintendo is awesome. I really think the Wii U can turn things around with a couple more franchise games. Neither XBOX One or PS4 is very convincing so far either.

Itunes is a disease. 64GB phone and I can’t even drag a video to and from my pc without dealing with that bs software. What a crock! The only way to kill it is to upgrade to an Android Device.

    Two things:

If you play the Zelda minigame with multiple players, the Wii Remote users will all have a sword and shield. I think you guys would have been really happy with how well that controls.

Also, you didn’t play the Luigi’s Mansion minigame. THATS LIKE THE BEST ONE!!

  • Jim Vorwald

    May 29, 2014 at 8:00 am

I think your points about Xbox One are false. You really didn’t thought about your complaints. First of all, the Remote Control thing. I can understand you want to use a remote control, but the option is to buy it seperatlely. Why does it have to be in the box with the system? PS2 had a DVD player and that did not come with a remote as far as I can tell. Same goes for Xbox Original (or 1) and all the systems after that. To me it seems unfair to bitch about it on Xbox One, because they thought about mediaplayers… with Kinect! That’s your new remote control, or at least, that’s what Microsoft wanted it to be. I’ve heard mixes stories about the Voice Commands. For some people it works and for some it doesn’t.

The second thing; Games. I know Xbox is known to be a FPS-console. Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty etc. etc. Does that mean there aren’t any other genres on the system. Absolutely not. Did you forgot about Killer Instinct? It was a freaking launch title. Especially since you’re such fans of the 16-bit era, I would figure you would’ve noticed by now that the franchise is back. I am actually suprised you got an Xbox One. Why buy one for $500 if you’re going to be bitching about remote controls and First Person shooters? You KNOW the Xbox is known for its FPS-games. But what you did not know is that KI is on the system? That’s just bad.

Awesome vid dudes and I agree that the video game market is oversaturated with shooter games right now. Honestly I broke out the Wii for the first time in forever, played Super Mario on it and it really brought me back to what made me love playing video games when I was a kid. Yeah, its cartoony, but whatever, the gaming aspect stands on its own and it was enjoyable to play.Personally, I’m more a fan of jrpg;s myself.

  • videogamehunter820

    October 7, 2014 at 12:27 pm

    Here’s my opinion:
Do I think that too many first person shooters come out. Yes. Do I think that Halo, Destiny, Gears of War, Titanfall, Battlefield, and various other knockoffs are starting to blend together into the same old futuristic-armor, soldier, shooter game. Yes. Now I know that Microsoft and Sony’s consoles have great games. But I do feel that the AAA titles are often rehashes of the same thing. True there exists games with great variety (from the standard military shooters) on those consoles if you dig deep enough, but that’s my point. At E3, many of the games that get the most hype are the same military gun game (which I love, but to a certain extent). So those consoles get a reputation for them even though there are better games far in the background. Maybe they should give more attention (and budget) for games of a different genre. I own many, many games that were not very well known, but are fun and are not FPS. That’s not to say that the same cannot apply to Nintendo. I have grown up with Nintendo my whole life, they will always be my favorite gaming company. But I do understand people’s complaints about Nintendo rehashing the same franchises (especially when past franchises, like F-Zero, Metroid, Star Fox, have kind of faded away. I love all the new Mario and Zelda games, but I do agree that they are not trying too many new things. I love all 3 companies but I think that a great deal of effort needs to be made into making new, original franchises. Actually try something different not just the world around it (like a shooter in the present vs a shooter in the future). I think that these FPS shooters keep soaking up all the money and attention is b/c people just keep making a HUGE fuss over them. I think it’s time to kind of move on (like recently, Destiny cost $500 million to make, it made back the money instantly, but the gameplay, story and content were IMMENSLEY flawed). They could revive past franchises like Turok, Power Stone, F-Zero, classic Castlevania, or Dino Crisis. Or 75% of Capcom’s abandoned franchises like Megaman, Strider, Ghosts and Goblins, Bionic Commando, Final Fight, the old Devil May Cry, Darkstalkers, Viewtiful Joe, etc. While Megaman 9 and 10 were great and Strider 2014 was great, they should try to make a AAA title with them, no just subject them to download only games. STOP JUST FOCUSING ON ONLY STREET FIGHTER FOR YOUR AAA FRANCHISES!!! Anyway, all three companies need some improvement, at least. There are still great games out they but it seems the big titles of each console are the ones that tend to cause the most controversy. Mike had valid points, but people who disagree also have valid points. But if Xbox and Playstation have variety, they should put more money into games of that kind and give them more spotlight to shine in. I love them all and play them all. It’s all a matter of opinion. But that is my opinion.
