May 14, 2014 at 9:43 pm
Only losers comment on being first…so you must be a loser…here’s a cookie…loser…
May 15, 2014 at 10:48 am
Lighten up, you people.
“Stuff like this” what you speak of is called Super Sentai, usually they were tv-series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Sentai
It’s also what Power Rangers ripped off.
May 14, 2014 at 2:51 pm
Actually Tokusatsu would be more spesific/correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokusatsu
But usually I’ve heard them just being refered to as sentai.
May 14, 2014 at 3:06 pm
Yeah, it looks that “Tokusatsu” is the main genre, whereas “Super Sentai” or “Kaijuu” could be called as sub-genres of it.
May 16, 2014 at 1:35 am
Super Sentai is a franchise, not exactly a genre. It’s a long running series that has been on air for more than 35 years, and there’s a new season every year. Yeah that’s the source material for Power Rangers – The Power Rangers that’s airing now was airing two years ago in Japan, except you know, they refilm everything that has japanese actors on it.
Sentai is the second biggest Tokusatsu franchise in Japan, after Kamen Rider.
May 14, 2014 at 2:53 pm
I really hope James gonna review the new godzilla movie.
May 14, 2014 at 2:57 pm
This is awesome! Where do you get this on video? Also, what do you guys think of Ultraman/Ultraseven/ Ultrawhatever?
May 14, 2014 at 3:12 pm
Man i laughed when i saw them kicking XD
May 14, 2014 at 3:19 pm
Wow, this is just so cool, who would have thought Godzilla would appear in some obscure Japanese TV show a lot of people didn’t know about. Now I’m just ready for the new Godzilla movie.
May 14, 2014 at 8:06 pm
A real Godzilla fan knows of Zone fighter…But right now most are on the Godzilla Bandwagon and know little to nothing about GODZILLA most are just trying to get their share of the Godzilla glory….sadly most are just used glory holes in a dime porn store of yesteryear
May 14, 2014 at 3:25 pm
You guys might want to know that there’s another couple of series that use Godzilla monsters (Not Godzilla himself, mind you, but one episode does feature an evil version of Minilla). I refer, of course to Ike! Greenman and Ike! Godman. Both are series featuring giant Ultraman-like heroes.
May 14, 2014 at 3:29 pm
There is only one copy I have been able to find on ebay, amazon, etc. Is selling for $1,195 and ships from Japan. Here is the link for anyone crazy enough to shell out that kind of cash for a dvd box set: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zone-Fighter-DVD-BOX-Japanese-Product-Tokusatsu-Ryusei-Ningen-nt2-/271481239086?pt=US_DVD_HD_DVD_Blu_ray&hash=item3f358af62e
May 14, 2014 at 3:49 pm
I think a part of the invisible string thing is just that the picture quality back in the day wasn’t good enough for the strings to be clear.
May 14, 2014 at 3:53 pm
I remembered Zone Fighter In the Internet in the year 2008 when I was 12 years old and when I saw Godzilla in five episodes I got shaak I did not know he was there But it was not just him it was Gigan and King Ghidorah. But I loved it.
May 14, 2014 at 4:01 pm
I thought I was the only one who liked godzilla Because I was big fan of him But when I saw the Internet I was so happy We are not alone.
May 14, 2014 at 4:12 pm
James you are not alone when I went to school no one liked it They think that it was boring I did not care what they said I loved Godzilla he is my favorit monster.
May 14, 2014 at 4:15 pm
Can’t wait for the new movie to come out. Are you James?
May 14, 2014 at 5:05 pm
you should review friday the 31st and silent night deadly night also godzilla vs the netherlands
May 14, 2014 at 5:10 pm
You guys already guessed it, they used to paint the strings in the background color. That’s why these scenes usually have, when filmed outside, a blue and cloudless sky, because you can paint the strings in that color pretty easily.
May 14, 2014 at 5:41 pm
Saw the new Godzilla movie earlier tonight, IT KICKS ASS!!
May 14, 2014 at 5:49 pm
“I would’ve just lost my shit over this. No, I’m serious, shit would’ve come out of my ass.”
May 14, 2014 at 6:02 pm
fuck yeah, cant wait till friday for the new godzilla
May 14, 2014 at 6:10 pm
What a great week on the Cinemassacre, it’s content, content, content 🙂

Forget Godzilla 2014, I wanna see a big budget remake of this!
May 14, 2014 at 7:24 pm
Oh glad to have seen the death of Gigan
May 14, 2014 at 7:30 pm
That Gigan fight was better than any of his movie fights!
May 14, 2014 at 7:33 pm
I always thought toho could do no wrong now I know better while it’s awesome that godzilla is in it I think that the show itself sucks
May 14, 2014 at 7:35 pm
Like mr bucket
May 14, 2014 at 7:55 pm
Hey guys its awesome that you found these episodes!!! Do you know if in the Ultraman vs Godzilla like monster episode if that was one of the orginal Godzilla suits or a replication of the suit? Also have either of you seen this Godzilla tv series from Japan called Godzilla Island?
May 14, 2014 at 7:59 pm
awesome.. but I still wanna hear James and Mike’s thoughts on the new Godzilla film after they see it
May 14, 2014 at 9:34 pm
They are most likely gonna love it.
May 16, 2014 at 5:04 am
Yes. James please do the new Godzilla review
May 14, 2014 at 8:03 pm
Well…from this video Neither James no Mike know much about anything Godzilla… Sadly many right now are on the Godzilla bandwagon and are making videos who know little to nothing about the BIG G the KING of KINGS It is sad….
May 14, 2014 at 8:31 pm
that move of that giant super hero fighting the monster with the umbrella drill head,(the one being fought at around 18:50 and onward) is hereby known as the “Ultra crotch beam blast”
May 14, 2014 at 9:36 pm
This video was totally awesome!
May 14, 2014 at 10:33 pm
Zone Fighter, known in Japan as Ryūsei Ningen Zone (流星人間ゾーン Ryūsei Ningen Zōn?, lit. “Meteor Human Zone”), is a tokusatsu science fiction superhero television series. Produced by Toho Company Ltd., the show aired on Nippon Television from April 2 to September 24, 1973, with a total of 26 episodes. This was Toho’s answer to not only the popular Ultra Series, but the Henshin Hero phenomenon started by shows like Kamen Rider and Android Kikaider. The previous year, Toho had just made their successful first superhero show, Rainbowman. The series was also notable for its guest appearance by Toho’s own Godzilla, as well as two other Toho monsters, King Ghidorah and Gigan. Supplementary materials published by Toho have confirmed Zone Fighter to be part of the Showa-era Godzilla series, taking place in between Godzilla vs. Megalon and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
May 14, 2014 at 10:37 pm
Thanks for sharing these, those were awesome! I, too, really enjoyed Godzilla and still do and everyone looks down on me for doing so. It’s nice that there are fellow Godzilla lovers out there! That said, I thought the Showa era of Godzilla got kind of goofy during this stretch, but I also think it finished well as the two MechGodzilla movies were just better done.
May 15, 2014 at 1:15 am
If you want another rare appearance of a classic Godzilla suit, check out episode 10 of the original Ultraman, a suit is given a frill and paintjob into a new monster called Jirass.
May 15, 2014 at 2:59 am
This is so cool it had a strange effect on me, it totally spent my interest in the new godzilla movie, already knowing it’s CGI bummed my down. Yeah, i’m not gonna see it, that’s it.
May 15, 2014 at 3:00 am
May 15, 2014 at 6:58 am
LMFAO!!! I love the part where Mike starts sperging out on Godzilla talking about how amazing it is. Don’t worry Mike, I love Godzilla too. 🙂
May 15, 2014 at 7:25 am
Well, hey, if they could paint a shield in post, guess they could paint the strings in post too. Plus, I’m sure they painted the actual strings the same color as the background. If anything should deviate from that color, then it is either slightly noticeable, or they fix it in post (when budget allows).
May 15, 2014 at 10:08 am
As for the Frankenstein monster make-up, I believe Jack Pierce’s make-up for Karloff’s monster was green even in the first movie. I think it was supposed to make him look pale, or at least have a different complexion, when it was shot in black and white. Which still doesn’t make sense why they would make the monster green in cartoons and stuff later on, he was made to look corpse-like and not green.
May 15, 2014 at 1:50 pm
There will be atomic breath in new Godzilla movie, it’s official 😀
May 16, 2014 at 5:06 am
It looks super awesome
May 15, 2014 at 2:39 pm
They did paint the stringers, but another factor is they were shot on film. 35MM film is inherently slightly unstable when shot and projected, which blurs things just a bit. It can help hide strings. In addition, they probably developed the film in ways to specifically blur a bit and help hide strings.
Three strip technicolor, in particular, can hide strings well when projected normally. That’s why the DVD of War of the Worlds had VERY obvious strings, but the theatrical version originally didn’t.
May 15, 2014 at 3:59 pm
I dont know if you guys are familiar with the Godzilla fan film called Godzilla vs. The Wolf Man which was created by former employees at Toho, here is a link to an article about it http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2013/06/03/in-search-of-monsters-wolfman-vs-godzilla/
May 15, 2014 at 4:56 pm
Haha! I busted out laughing at Godzillas’s flying dropkick!
May 15, 2014 at 5:34 pm
I just saw the new movie and I think it was just ok, not bad but not particularly good, if you’re a Godzilla fan you may find it good enough. But I have to say that the finishing blow was fucking awesome.
May 15, 2014 at 7:03 pm
I really hope Zone Fighter gets put in a Godzilla fighting game.
May 15, 2014 at 7:30 pm

May 16, 2014 at 1:13 pm
see this is what’s so great about being alive now, when i was a little kid i loved Godzilla i had the 1st american version, Godzilla vs sea monster, son of Godzilla, and i ad 1 more but i cant remember which on VHS, i also had a lot of Godzilla toys, that i never knew the story to, i even got a 1998 Godzilla movie and toy despite not liking the ending, i thought the look (at least on the toys) was b.a but the tail was really long and i poked my eye out many times i blame it for the reason i now where glasses…. i love that i can now find out things about Godzilla i never knew b
efore, i love the internet! 😀
May 16, 2014 at 5:54 pm
That Zone Fighter pose and laser gun mounted on head remainds me little ChiChi from dragon ball 😀 seriously, if you played Dragon Ball Z Tenkachi Budokai 3 you know what im talking about.
May 16, 2014 at 7:02 pm
You need to post your opinions of the new godzilla! I saw it opening night at IMAX in 3D and honestly i was speechless… it was cinematic gold.
May 16, 2014 at 8:40 pm
Have you guys seen the 1992 Nike commercials with Charles Barkley? Im sure you have, but heres a link just incase.
May 16, 2014 at 8:42 pm
Charles Barkley/Godzilla i meant to say.
May 16, 2014 at 10:23 pm
Speaking of Godzillathon, will you be adding the new Legendary/Warner movie to the list?
May 17, 2014 at 12:02 pm
14:52 Godzilla Originated Twirking! ^_^
May 17, 2014 at 10:32 pm
Probably, it was made like in Superman movie? Technology called Zoptic. It’s basically front screen projection with zoom lens both on camera and projector, focus length is changes simultaneously but in opposite directions, so bg looks static but superman becomes larger in frame (like he is flying).
May 18, 2014 at 8:43 pm
I got introduced to Godzilla through Mystery Science Theater 3000, it was my first time watching Mst3k too at my friends house, oh the 90s good times
May 19, 2014 at 7:47 am
Many of us thought that we knew something better from the others before internet come to our lives, even i admit that for some stuff. When i was playing tetris on my GB i was thought because i have beaten many kids on the place i lived that i was one of the best.Untill i have played online on ps3 and saw the real competition. But that was a small example for what we thought and what is coming in the years in front of us.As you said also some people dont give a crap about some stuff we know that’s why let us do the thinking that we are the best, and yes some times this is true since nobody else gives a fuck.Especially in greece people there are so freaking shallow and they dont care about movies, toys, games and some of us know much better than them since we play watch more on those matters. And believe me dudes it is a fact that some learned more and think that they know better nowadays because of the internet like most of us.But in the past they didn’t had a clue for stuff like godzilla, they know now because its easier to search and find some things. And to top it all they never searched in the past like you and i do so i believe that makes you a better expert as they think they are because of the internet. And i can easilly jump to the conclusion that you are a better expert in those stuff from some others around here, take it from a guy that had a friend that believed that he is an expert because of the internet.
May 19, 2014 at 8:21 am
Also as mike mentioned in that part when those people watched that godzilla scene, and looked him this way when he said something about that part.Imagine that in a bigger scale having the 90% of our population in greece react like that when it comes to almost anything.Cartoons,games,movies,comics,books,toys.Most of us react this way believe me,and its much worst than those few out there.Having almost anyone to talk for stuff like that. Now do the math for how i feel to live in that freaking shallow minted country.
May 20, 2014 at 9:37 am
Miiiike, why aren’t you wearing a Metallica shirt?! ;P
“Get the fuck off my lawn” loll..
May 24, 2014 at 10:45 pm
May 25, 2014 at 2:25 am
This will be deleted by Toho.
May 27, 2014 at 5:40 am
This was what I was hoping to happen during the 1st season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Gigan with parachutes, the Godzilla-Gigan-biting his tail attack, and Godzilla pulling off a ”Gears of War execution” by pulling the umbrella monster’s tail off and beating him with it. Those were some amazing moments 😛 LOL! Great video you guys!
May 28, 2014 at 12:59 am
that was awesome!
May 28, 2014 at 6:08 pm
I can realy feel you on that “fuck you” at ppl that think its wired that somebody knows about godzilla movie stuff. I have some friends that I watch movies with and they always come up with some random teeny comedy bullshit that isn’t even funny or well made. its always about some random cheerleader or singing/Acapella/hiphop dancing fuck whore who’s main goal in live is to get her pussy stuffed by the football team leader retarded bodybuilder fuckface who’s main accomplishment in live is his sixpack or whatever. I try to get my friends to watch good movies but its always like: no your movies are to violent or too nerdy, too strange or hard to understand for dumb fucks. and then cheerleader stuff again or the disney cgi pixar movies for kids the girls what to see. its realy frustrating when you actually have a more refined taste in something. you are lucky that you have friends you can enjoy the good stuff with. be thankful for that.
May 29, 2014 at 4:38 pm
i need to see this!!!
anyone know where i could find it?
June 1, 2014 at 7:34 pm
James what do you think of “Big Man Japan” great movie would like your take on it.
June 8, 2014 at 1:53 am
Here’s a little of a challenge for anyone..I’m trying to find out which Godzilla movie I saw when I was a kid. All I can really remember, is Godzilla had (I think) a friend, walked on four legs, and used it’s tail in fights along with biting.. and..at one point, they were on a beach, and there was this thing in a huge rock in the water, and it breaks out of that, and fights Godzilla and his buddy. Been having hell trying to find out which that is.
October 8, 2014 at 3:41 am
Watch James’ Godzilla-a-thon, he reviews all the movies.
June 8, 2014 at 1:59 pm
just found out there is a series of godzilla shorts made by TOHO called “godzilla island” you might want to check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_Island
June 11, 2014 at 3:33 pm
best ending “yeaaaaaaahhhh”
August 3, 2014 at 3:47 pm
Anyone else think James should do other Toho monster movies for this year’s monster madness?
Mothra, Rodan, Varan the unbelievable, The Mysterians, The H-Man, Atragon, Gorath, Matango, Uchû daikaijû Dogora, Frankenstein Conquers the Earth, King Kong Escapes, Yog Monster from Space, Takeru Yamato, Latitude Zero, Half Human and Rebirth of Mothra I II and III.
I know that’s eighteen movies but still it’d be awesome. Maybe make it giant monster month and put in some classic B-Movies such as Tarantula, 20 Million Miles to Earth and THEM!
August 17, 2014 at 4:51 pm
The Genre to which you are referring is called tokusatsu. While not live action, there was another Toho production called Godzilla Island which was made using toys.
January 31, 2015 at 4:33 pm
Wow I really have so much of the same issues as you guys. I mean no one in my school respects godzilla, and they constantly hate on me for it. It’s very annoying. I say most of the stuff your friend said in this video, but it wasn’t until I got like, Instagram or something that I found out like you I didn’t know the most about godzilla. Now that being said, I do think I am an overly obsessive fan of the original franchise, and I would love to play anyone head to head in trivia or whatever. But what I hate is all this excess shit. Like people now are like “ultra demon-earth cyber neo mothra”! And I’m just like what the fuck?? I don’t know anything about this neo shit or what not. I prefer the classic godzilla, kinda like you guys.
November 3, 2015 at 4:01 am
James are you going to review the new Toho Godzilla movie coming out 2016?
