it was fun watching you guys play and it was great to see bad luck bootsy, but I think this was a bad game choice. id love to see you guys play some classic ps1 games, like tony hawk pro skater or ready to rumble boxing. I LOVED MIKE MR BUCKET SINGING!

      April 28, 2014 at 3:49 am

I actually prefer when they try and do co-op games. Toejam and Earl was awesome. But Tony Hawk would be interesting.

if you want A REALLY GOOD ps1 multiplayer game, get crash bash. it is a collection of minigames and stuff, really fun.

  • April 28, 2014 at 1:21 am

I only got to play the Wii version of Monkey Ball. I wish I could have played the gamecube one before. As always, love this show! keep it up!!

    • April 28, 2014 at 10:10 am

Fun game. I missed this on the GameCube, unfortunately. If you are taking suggestions for future videos, I recommend Sonic Heroes or Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube, or you could just beat the crap out of each other in Combat for the Atari 2600. Keep ’em coming, and good luck on the AVGN movie.

Heh.. Super Monkey Ball is a pretty fun party game. If you stick with the monkey theme, you should do the “Ape Escape” games next! Those games are pretty funny and are kinda fun too.

Another awesome game. Almost makes me want to get a gamecube again.

What a neat game. I’m more of a singleplayer gamer, but I might be interested in checking out something in that series. Oh, hey, first page for a change. Yeah!

    • April 28, 2014 at 3:25 am

It has a great single-player. But you have to like to think in games, because it requires fast thinking and puzzle solving.
It’s a get to goal game, in single-player, but really fast paced. I’m near to go to World 9 in that game, but there’s one level in World 8 that drives me crazy, it’s too hard and i gave up, so that might happen. Eheheh.

  • April 28, 2014 at 1:57 am

PLEASE stop reviewing these boring lame games. Classic NES os SNES please. It was good when you did Contra, but every week has sucked for the last couple months πŸ™

    • April 28, 2014 at 3:02 am

Ok, let’s recap… The latest games they’ve played have been Clayfighter (SNES) Anticipation (NES) Action Max (Classic as all hell) Paperboy 64 (Duh) Toejam and Earl (Genesis) Super Mario’s Wacky Worlds (CD-I) Dennis the Mennis (SNES) Bubsy (Jaquar)… So I have one question for you sir, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?!?!

      April 29, 2014 at 2:40 pm

you should know better than to drop an insult…. all the pr-teen kids come running to defend anything, even if it is lackluster.

  • April 28, 2014 at 3:16 am

Mike, what was the tagline you were trying to think of for Cartoon Express. Now that’s bugging me. You said, “All aboard the Cartoooon Express!” There was also, “Action, adventure, and all the rest on the USA Cartoon Express!” at the end of the song, and of course the “In a minute!” shorts.

The Bill Murray movie you were trying to think of was “The Man Who Knew Too Little”. I happened to be trying to think of the name of “The Man Who Wasn’t There” recently, and all I could come up with was the Hitchcock film.

I think you would really enjoy Boom Blox on the Wii. I thought it was one of the truly inspired games on the system. I’m not sure what direct input he had, but Steven Spielberg is a part of the title.

  • April 28, 2014 at 4:23 am

How about Super Monkey Ball 3D? Is that a good game? I have never really been brave enough to buy it as it just seems too stupid game to begin with.

  • April 28, 2014 at 6:19 am

The second one is indeed closest to the first.

    April 28, 2014 at 8:13 am

Awesome video James. I’m not sure if this is the right place for suggestions, but I was really hoping that you could play The Wonderful 101 for Wii U sometime. I think it’d make a great episode.

  • April 28, 2014 at 10:09 am

Great video as always, never heard of this, but may have to check it out now. A game of worms, now that’s retro multi player greatness. Would love to see Worms or Zombies ate my Neighbours πŸ˜‰

I’d would love to see James & Mike play Clocktower for the PlayStation 1. Great horror game.

  • joliet_jane

    April 28, 2014 at 10:56 am

IIRC, Monkey Ball appears in one of the AVGN Christmas specials where the nerd goes to the future and sees himself reviewing Wii games as an old man.

  • marshmakie

    April 28, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Super Monkey Ball is a super fun game, but I’m surprised at how there weren’t any “monkey balls” jokes on this video… Maybe it’s just an AVGN thing, hahahahaha.

I maintain my suggestion for you guys to play SPLATTERHOUSE (the arcade version) on the Virtual Console! I think it could make a good episode, giving the opportunity to chat about many classic horror films and their influences on the game, the controversies around it, etc. πŸ˜‰

That was one of our favorite party games in college. I remember SMB 1 better, but SMB 2 was great. Target, Bowling and Fight were so much fun.

Great video as always James! This is my first time ever commenting by the way.. I discovered your existence maybe a year ago when my friend linked a you-tube video of bible games 2, and since then I haven’t been able to stop watching your videos.

This is probably the wrong place to be posting this stuff but oh well

I never played this Monkey Ball but I’ve played the first one and it was pretty fun.. Anyway, I cant recall if you guys have done so yet, but you could always bust out the N64 and play the original super smash brothers, and maybe even Super Double Dragon on the SNES, also on the SNES, Super Bomberman 2! that game was awesome and a really fun multiplayer game. And Sunset Riders of course.. i’m sure there is a ton more stuff but, those are some ideas.. whether you needed any or not..

Keep up the great work! I’m looking forward to your AVGN movie!

  • April 28, 2014 at 8:30 pm

Have you guys ever thought about doing Fighting Force 64? I used to play that with my friends all the time.

Please Please Please do some sort of a review of the Planet of the Apes films (5 original films) and talk about the crazy time line that goes on in those movies. I have all 5 films (and the remake, and the reboot, and the documentary “behind the planet of the apes), and all of the tv serieis and cartoon on dvd. Still making my way through the tv series right now. Rodney McDowwel is Awesome!

Hey Guys this is completely unrelated to the video. But have you seen Regular Show. I can’t help to see references(or at least some inspiration) to Cinemassacre early videos. Just look at this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl4pKvPdc4Y

    April 29, 2014 at 3:21 pm

Not a bad video by any means! I however feel that you guys go off topic (which is completely fine) but i am watching the video to see the game and see you guys play different parts of the game. I would’ve liked to see more of the game rather than one mini-game; but I understand there is only so much you can say about the game while playing it without making a full review on it.

Yes, I remember Cartoon Express! I would run home from school to try and catch it. Wasn’t Pac-Man, Smurfs, and the Snorks on there too? I can’t remember.

I think the Bill Murray movie you referred to about him being a spy or something was “The Man Who Knew Too Little”

Woah, that was pretty awesome (ΰΉ‘>α΄—<ΰΉ‘). I would love to see you playing one of the older Jojo's Bizarre Adventure games. The characters are pretty awesome and the story is just amazing!

    Rape-Ape ? For a kids cartoon-show it sure sounds wrong … somehow …

  • May 4, 2014 at 4:27 pm

I’d really like to see James, Mike, Bootsy and Kyle Justin playing Crash Bash for the original Playstation. Without any doubt one of the best 4-player games for PSX.

  • May 28, 2014 at 4:55 pm

that is a good game. my friend and I were going to get that game for his gamecube but we found luigi’s mansion so we bought that game instead of super monkey ball 2

Man, I wish I picked these games up back in the day. Would have been hours of fun.

I love this section of videos. Gives me a digital crew to hang with on the solo evenings.
