        loved the episode!

    • frostare

      March 19, 2014 at 2:53 pm

Yes! And only one more game left til AVGN would have done 100 straight episodes where he actually talked about videogames

    • March 22, 2014 at 7:17 am

      Those last two mimutes…. Tears…. Literally tears….

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:27 am

Incredible! Finally a new AVGN on a game I’ve been obsessed with reviews on for a week! PERFECT!

  • Nicholas Ferrera

    March 19, 2014 at 1:30 am

Definitely did not expect this game, it’s good to change it up every once in a while

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:46 am

Probably one of the most entertaining episodes ive ever seen so far (and I’ve been watching since angry Nintendo nerd) GOOD WORK NERD!

    • Clinton Wester

      March 19, 2014 at 11:29 am

      I second this.
That Big Rigs commercial had me in tears and then “THE TRUCK’S FUCKIN’ THE GROUND!” just topped it off.

      • March 19, 2014 at 3:25 pm

This is my fave episode without a doubt. lol – the trucks fuckin the ground!

      • MrBrrumpkins

        March 21, 2014 at 7:41 pm

        ”The truck’s fucking the ground!”

      • March 22, 2014 at 7:17 am

        “Plaid”

  • Nicholas Ferrera

    March 19, 2014 at 1:47 am

You should play Miami Traffic 3.
It has the same style of awfulness as this game.

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:53 am

Amazing episode :) Loved it! Can’t wait for another one! This game is really fucked up!

    • Eric

      March 19, 2014 at 5:42 pm

      Epic video…….epically terrible game. Wow.

    • March 19, 2014 at 7:07 pm

      That Spaceballs reference!

    • Catina McCoy

      April 24, 2014 at 9:43 pm

I didn’t know how to contact you. I don’t want to go through the whole process. I only just wanted to give you what you need to hear. I would put this in paragraphs, but I don’t know if I have the time. To go on about my own time, which is left on earth negates everything you have done for me. Oh, dear Lord, I wish I/we had the time. but, anyway, I digress. What I was trying to say to you is that you are precious. You are literally like mini-god upon this planet. I will never stop watching your movies, again and again and again. Your voice is literally a painkiller. I thank you for this. There isn’t any way for me to fully convey what an affect you have had on my life in one simple message. Just please… I beg you.. keep doing what you do… A little more about myself, if you’re interested… I am 34, and was widowed a few years back. I had lost all interest in life. You brought me back, James Rolfe. I understand that you are different. We both are, I think… Anyway, props to your forever, and I thank you. You gave me the ability to breathe while grieving my husband…

      Luv Forever,
      cat

      (Alnitakatinla)

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:54 am

Mother of Fuck that was the best episode! I laughed so Goddamned hard! Thank you so much James!

  • Aaron1375

    March 19, 2014 at 1:54 am

This was a pleasant surprise, wasn’t expecting a new AVGN episode when I came on. Funny stuff, a nice change of pace as you usually play stuff that is hard as fuck and now you’re playing a game you can’t lose. Probably made so all kids can feel like winners or some shit. Most definitely shouldn’t have been released. Perhaps the company that made it got their funding pulled and just released an incomplete copy or something?

  • IbanezJFS

    March 19, 2014 at 1:56 am

    Were those tattoos real?

  • Nintendomaniac

    March 19, 2014 at 1:59 am

At the beginning I was thinking, “It’s going to look weird seeing the Nerd put a disc into a modern PC”…but then he pops it into the Commodore 64.

  • fantasticfink

    March 19, 2014 at 2:21 am

    Aww yeah. Gotta love Spaceballs.

  • str8spaceball1

    March 19, 2014 at 2:30 am

What is this, Spaceballs references in the end? AMAZING! :D

  • RumpledForeskin

    March 19, 2014 at 2:45 am

Ahahaha, he went to plaid. Wait, Miss Piggy? Spock? Darth Vader? Winnie the Pooh? What?
    Also, laffo at Fucholand.

  • Thomas Hopkins

    March 19, 2014 at 2:53 am

    Yeah, Trucks!!!

  • Johan Öberg

    March 19, 2014 at 3:08 am

I think you drive as Parker Lewis in this game. Because Parker Lewis can’t lose.

  • March 19, 2014 at 3:21 am

Didn’t expect a new AVGN episode when I checked at almost 3:00AM. Glad to see a new one up, though. Nicely done. Just remember that games don’t have to be old to suck. I bet you’d have a field day with the Xbox 360 Indie games. Some were actually pretty good, some weren’t, and some were purely absurd and abominable. Just download a bunch of them as free demos and run through them one night. There is also a lawnmower game where, yes, you cut grass. It actually works great, but what a horrible and hilarious idea for a game

    • March 19, 2014 at 7:10 pm

Lawnmower game? Bad? You can’t mean Hovver Bovver on Commodore 64, that one’s awesome!!!
Also… great f*ing episode. Laughed tears all the time.

  • GiganticBigLove

    March 19, 2014 at 3:22 am

    BIG FUCK ING RIIIIIIIGGGGGZSSSSS!
    That was a great episode.

  • Sun-Wukong

    March 19, 2014 at 3:27 am

I know they’re fake (or at least, I’m assuming they are), but I like to imagine that those tattoos are the reason he always wears a long sleeve shirt; button-up as The Nerd and sweater as Board James.

  • Nebuchadnezzaurus

    March 19, 2014 at 3:27 am

    This shit’s funny

  • muire

    March 19, 2014 at 3:40 am

The fake commercial and ending were AMAZING! I already knew about this game so the jokes were old to me but the commercial was genius and totally worth it.

  • March 19, 2014 at 3:51 am

wow … okay … I’ve seen some bad games. This is up there with some of the worse game programming I have ever seen! Now my dad loves driving games. After seen a lot of them, I thought there wasn’t any way to make them so bad! let alone miss major aspects that make the game playable … I mean the first “Need for Speed” game had more to it then this game!!!

  • Albert Magnusson

    March 19, 2014 at 4:05 am

First I was afraid this episode could not live up to the Nerd’s usual greatness but near the end when you say in a dead-serious, sports reporter’s voice “now the truck’s f*cking the ground” you got me off guard – I was laughing tears. You’re winner!

  • Dsimon

    March 19, 2014 at 4:17 am

Wow, I didn’t expect a legendary shit PC game to be reviewed. Nice surprise !

This video was innovative with the tv ad sketch, it was hilarious. The ending was also good, I loved the footage of the cat freaking out.

It would be awesome if you reviwed shitty PC games more. Although I do get that these can sometimes be hard to run properly (if they do work).

Keep up the good work James.

  • March 19, 2014 at 4:32 am

Aha! i knew as soon as you were proud of the work you’ve done to film the first PC game you would attempt another. Great work with the set-up.

  • March 19, 2014 at 4:58 am

Had to go through that video three times in a row. With my earlier rant out of the way, that video was worth the wait :)

  • March 19, 2014 at 5:03 am

i never knew a game like this existed… good find… also it’s nice to see you cat again in the video.

  • March 19, 2014 at 5:21 am

James, you did it! You did the best episode of the NERD, you topped R.O.B.
    Fucking A!
I’ve seen this game reviewed from an Italian youtuber years ago, but they things you did were another level of comedy. I laguhed out loud for most of this review. And that ending, didn’t see that coming.
“It’s fucking the ground” It’s just one of the many quotes that made me laugh till my chest started to hurt. I need some rest, eheheheheheh.

  • March 19, 2014 at 5:25 am

    I Love This Video

  • roboraygun

    March 19, 2014 at 5:34 am

Hahaha! Every time I thought I had a favorite scene another took it’s place!

I CRACKED UP when the truck went into HYPER reverse mode =P but then couldn’t stop laughing at Big Rigs Commercial!

    Great ep =P.

  • March 19, 2014 at 5:43 am

    WOHOO! new avgn!

  • Stephen Vincent

    March 19, 2014 at 5:52 am

This is either the worst racing game ever made or the greatest. I’m undecided.

  • D-Raya

    March 19, 2014 at 5:59 am

Great episode! I love the commersial! :D

  • March 19, 2014 at 6:03 am

Now i know 2 persons who have review about this shit :D btw. where the heck is game music while you drive ? nowhere. And when you reverse and go crazy, you reach universe border. But good episode so thanks :D It’s nice and i like when you do other game reviews and not always NES games :) Peace.

  • March 19, 2014 at 6:18 am

Love the space balls reference, bet the nerd flew past next week.

Even with your spoof commercial people would still buy that game though and would only go to legitimize its authenticity as a game.

  • Haseo

    March 19, 2014 at 6:23 am

Awesome episode as always, be great seeing more like this of those sort of games.

  • March 19, 2014 at 6:45 am

The guy behind Big Rigs is the guy that made WarZ, another failure of a game that got kicked out of Steam for a while.

  • Smokingspoon

    March 19, 2014 at 6:49 am

I totally thought of star trek and Spaceball just before you showed it, LOL! Wew… you made me laugh to tears James, thank you.

    • Smokingspoon

      March 19, 2014 at 6:58 am

But seriously, commercializing a game like that is evil. They’re not even trying to hide the shit like other $$ hungry publishers do. I think I would’ve been less pissed if the cd would not even start/read.

Can you imagine getting a game like this? We might disagree with them once in a while , they are corruptible/biased, but it’s a good thing videogame reviews are everywhere on the net nowadays.

      • March 19, 2014 at 8:13 am

And here I thought they were doing a MS strategy. Release something with bugs, people complain, and they say “Don’t worry! Windows 1.25 will be out before we can return your money!” :p

Alternatively, don’t think they had internet and the only way to get an alpha out was through the stores, funding their pathetic work. Though they should’ve put that thing in one of those demo CDs with the next PC Magazine.

  • March 19, 2014 at 6:55 am

Loved the Star Trek the Motion Picture reference of Spock Walk with Miss Piggy, Vader and Spock, hahaha!

  • March 19, 2014 at 7:10 am

Can you “Alan Smithee” a game?

  • Fred . Fuchs

    March 19, 2014 at 7:16 am

I can’t believe you actually do it at last, I remember you said in a FAQ you won’t because being a PC game and it made sense, but after the AVGN games on PC I had a bit of hope you would do it.

And it was one of the best episodes ever!

I never laughed so hard with an AVGN episode, I literally had tears at the infinite reverse speed. And holy shit, a tattooed AVGN!? That commercial was PERFECT.

Thanks for your brilliant videos, James.

  • Davoo

    March 19, 2014 at 7:17 am

    Oh… my… God…

Well HERE’S a review I’ve been waiting for for SIX years.

    ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh it’s FINALLY HAPPENING!!

*stops absolutely everything else I was doing*

*goes down to make the most delicious Hamburgers I can*

  • The Micksta

    March 19, 2014 at 7:17 am

That was an awesome episode, loved the ad that James did made me laugh so much!.

  • Ben_from_G-town

    March 19, 2014 at 7:23 am

Nice, an AVGN episode. Good stuff. I wasn’t expecting something like this. Finding glitches can be fun, but I never expected a game where the whole thing is a glitch! The commercial and the super reverse speed at the end were hilarious!

  • WhiteSpy

    March 19, 2014 at 7:27 am

One of the best episodes I’ve ever seen. Haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. Keep making stuff like this, we can’t get enough!

  • Stefan Jensen

    March 19, 2014 at 7:31 am

This was AWESOME !!! Loved it :) Good work :)

  • Pablo Rodriguez

    March 19, 2014 at 7:32 am

Amazing video, definitely one of my favorites. The commercial was the best part. BIG MOTHER-FUCK-ING RIGS!

  • Misdemeanors

    March 19, 2014 at 7:35 am

Almost got a seizure from laughing the entire episode, damn that’s some good old-fashioned AVGN stuff!

  • DON

    March 19, 2014 at 7:38 am

    Holy mother, this was awesome.
Couldn’t stop laughing, especially the commercial was epic.
    Thank you!

  • Joe Vicory

    March 19, 2014 at 7:39 am

James, honestly. I know it sounds bad, but you need to say “Fuck.” to all the seemingly stupid requests for games that you get and review games how you originally did. Find one that YOU can’t believe is so bad and what YOU feel like should be reviewed. That’s where the gold is.

  • magneto986

    March 19, 2014 at 7:41 am

OMG!!! Freaking hilarious James. I absolutely lost it on that commercial you did for “BIG RIIIIIIGSSSS!!!!” I was in tears. Execellent work as always. I prob shouldn’t have to ask this question but do you have tatoos like that? If not, how were they done? Tat sleeve perhaps? Keep up the great work James!!!!!

  • magneto986

    March 19, 2014 at 7:43 am

James, I just thought of an AMAZING idea!!! I loved the commercial you did for Big Rigs so much that I really think you should do more mock commercials for some of the other bad games you review and put it up in a new section on the website. What do you think?

  • Senna4ever

    March 19, 2014 at 7:44 am

    Wait a second.
Was he playing Big Rigs on a C64?

  • Dark Omega

    March 19, 2014 at 7:46 am

At the end, it would have been really awesome if you tried to talk like Scotty. “Captain, if I give her anymore, shes going to blow.” But this was fucking funny. As the game goes, still has to be superior to Superman 64.

  • March 19, 2014 at 7:49 am

By far one of the funniest videos that you have made James. The commercial was fucking hysterical. That should be a new branch of videos, commercials for shitty games. I honestly wish I had your skills man. You make kick ass videos, and I can’t wait until your film comes out. You’re Winner!

  • March 19, 2014 at 8:00 am

Awesome! great episode James! love it

  • March 19, 2014 at 8:01 am

You know, at first I thought you were doing this video just to get people asking for the next AVGN off your back. But then I see you actually found something fun to do with this game. Keep up the good work! :)

  • Joe B.

    March 19, 2014 at 8:12 am

I have to say, this is a pleasant surprise. I never thought the nerd would ever cover this game. This is indeed the worst of the worst. ET gets so much hate and yet you can at least win and lose in that game.

  • john lombardo

    March 19, 2014 at 8:15 am

a little bit of wee came out

  • ClosingFrantica

    March 19, 2014 at 8:41 am

Fucking masterpiece of an episode. Also, I love your cat!

  • stoney_1

    March 19, 2014 at 8:41 am

    Best commercial EVER!! BiiiiG Riiiiiigz!!

  • Tim Harrod

    March 19, 2014 at 8:46 am

AWESOME! I wondered if the Nerd would ever do this one.

  • March 19, 2014 at 8:50 am

did you guys notice who is responsible for making this game?

    Sergey Titov

Who is he? Apparently the same guy behind the “War Z” fiasco. You know the game that lied to its customers about what was implemented and had to be pulled by Valve off steam.

A pattern can be seen here….

  • March 19, 2014 at 8:52 am

The commercial really makes the episode.

  • croagunklover

    March 19, 2014 at 8:56 am

    Man, that episode was awesome!

  • taykel

    March 19, 2014 at 9:05 am

Oh boy. The game looks so broken. When you started to play it, I started laughing. Thank god I’ve never heard of it before.

  • thethotbot

    March 19, 2014 at 9:06 am

“We’ve gone to plaid!” First time I’ve laughed out loud at an internet video in months!!

  • vetle hafstad

    March 19, 2014 at 9:10 am

Awesome video laugh the crap out of me. Now review Catfight for PC. Please it has a reputation to be one of the worst game ever made

  • March 19, 2014 at 9:35 am

OMG So Funny. What a piece of shit. The first time you went in reverse with the needle doing a full 360 had me in stiches!

  • BladeRunner

    March 19, 2014 at 9:48 am

    awesome new AVGN!!

  • Rick

    March 19, 2014 at 10:02 am

    Almost died laughing… no biggie…

  • March 19, 2014 at 10:13 am

Actually, this game was made in Russia by Russians. It was released in the US, but only because nobody in Russia with more then 2 brain cells actually buys Russian-made games.

  • 19Szabolcs91

    March 19, 2014 at 10:17 am

Okay, I’d love to see it but with my crappy internet in this dorm where I stay just can’t handle this player. It keeps lagging, and you can’t even pre-load it since there’s no line. I guess I’ll have to wait until you upload it to youtube.

  • Nathan McLean

    March 19, 2014 at 10:19 am

So f’in funny, good work again

  • Joe Lin

    March 19, 2014 at 10:24 am

Finally see AVGN take on the worst game ever!

  • March 19, 2014 at 10:33 am

Any game about semi trucks is going to be terrible. Personally, I hate those road hogging, gas guzzling, accident causing pieces of shit.

  • March 19, 2014 at 10:34 am

Sergey Titov, the lead developer on this game also fulfilled the same role on The War Z (Now called Infestation: Survivor Stories). Also if Voyager taught me anything the Nerd should probably have turned into a giant newt at the end.

    • Dark Omega

      March 21, 2014 at 7:55 am

      Hah. What an awesome reference.

  • Kjetil håvås

    March 19, 2014 at 10:54 am

    The commercials was cool.

  • Robert Sanchez

    March 19, 2014 at 10:55 am

Great video James! I totally lost it at the end!

  • marc_lawson

    March 19, 2014 at 11:05 am

Did I see Muppets in Space?

  • WakameSake

    March 19, 2014 at 11:10 am

That was a great episode. Loved the fake commercial.

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:24 am

Whoa, how’d you guys do the arm tattoos? Did Mike draw them on? They don’t look like fake tattoo sleeves… or maybe the Nerd has gone all bad ass on us and they’re real?!

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:30 am

Less phoned in than usual, I approve.

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:40 am

Honestly, this is one of my favourite episodes now! That was freaking hilarious, love the fake commercial. That was an amazing episode!

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:46 am

I can’t believe games this messed up actually get released!

  • Joker83

    March 19, 2014 at 11:46 am

Oh my god the Big Rigs commercial you made was amazing!!! You are the best James, this was so fucking funny

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:46 am

wana ga so fast as the speed of sound or beter as light set it to R and go aapshit :D

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:48 am

SWEEET, a new AVGN. Now those horrible, loathsome, entitled “fans” can STOP bitching and moaning.

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:49 am

5:30 wana go as fast a lighting set it to R and hit the floor :D other way then forward with delorean from back to the future :)

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:54 am

The game title you gave ghost trucker was really nice james, but you can tell that fits perfect for a more serious game. But how about big shits? by the company it came on a box software. The biggest mystery of all though is how that ended up in the stores shelves!

  • nowaitstop

    March 19, 2014 at 11:55 am

    BIIIIIGGGGG MOOOTHHAAAAFFFUUUCCCKKIINNN’ RIIIIIIIGS

  • James Lemons

    March 19, 2014 at 11:58 am

This is not the last insult to gaming that Sergey Titov has birthed. A couple of years back he created a game called WarZ which was filled with shitty game play and glitches as well. They were sued because of the name and it is now known as Infestation: survivor stories. New name but same old shitty game.

  • March 19, 2014 at 11:59 am

Another Classic James can’t wait to see what comes next. How did you do those tattoos on the trucker character?

  • supermark64

    March 19, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Can you PLEASE use a different player?

  • Weldin Dunn

    March 19, 2014 at 12:03 pm

You know, I do know why it took 2 1/2 months to make this. Obviously he had to drink 20,000 beers to get over the fact that LJN made a game that wasn’t a piece of fuckin’ dog shit. Good job.

  • chio trou

    March 19, 2014 at 12:08 pm

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the truck has left the game.”
    Bursted out laughing.

    Great Episode, James

Also, the final joke in the end is great because it has the charme of simplicity i always loved out of the old episodes

  • Travis McNabb

    March 19, 2014 at 12:13 pm

Holy fucking shit! The last minutes of the vid were fucking epic as hell, lmao! Loved the commercial for the game! Everything was bad ass! Great episode! I laughed my ass off! Big Riggs!

  • Curt90

    March 19, 2014 at 12:19 pm

Commercial and the ending are the best parts. Anyway it’s great to watch AVGN again ;)

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:20 pm

You did it again James! Another instant classic! I’m savoring it soo much right now…

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:34 pm

You look good with tattoos! :D

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:40 pm

Funniest episode yet, James! Can’t wait to see more

  • NevermindMichael

    March 19, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Good Work loved the review. I liked to see how the nerd pretty much enjoed all the glitches. Keep it up!

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:44 pm

    This was unexpected =D
Since I’ve allready seen the Yogscast take their turn at this game I knew what it would be like, but that gave me the opportunity to fully enjoy the review itself ^^
It was fun, to the point and a nice change of pace for once =)
[Don't get me wrong, as a console gamer myself I love the usually picked games, but an unexpected surprise now and then is awesome ♥]

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:52 pm

I think this is my favorite episode. I was laughing the entire time, never seen this game before so it was even funnier. Instant classic.

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:52 pm

    Best – episode – EVER !
And the commercial, hilarious. You should do them for the TV.
    I’ve laughed my head off.

    You’re winner, Nerd !

  • March 19, 2014 at 12:53 pm

That’s incredible. So you can publish this unfinished/barely started load of dung, call it a game and outright lie on the box and you don’t go to jail for it? That’s the most messed up thing about all this.

  • Stick

    March 19, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Holy shit my gut hurts. You’ve outdone yourself James. That was awesome.

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:08 pm

Did anyone recognize the producer in the game credit section >.>

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:19 pm

One of the funniest episodes yet! Hilarious! Thank you!

  • CrushingC10996WM

    March 19, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Even Super Mario’s Wacky Worlds was more functional. This makes Sonic 06′ look like Sonic 2. Action 52 at least offered challenge. Still, not AS bad as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

  • dsmattj

    March 19, 2014 at 1:23 pm

The first half of the episode is, IMO, the best ever from the Nerd. Even with all his funny episodes, the first half never made me laugh so hard in my life. I was literally crying while laughing. His reactions to the game was the best he’s ever done.

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:23 pm

Thank you so much guys! Been awhile since I laughed out loud alone in my room, thanks again I really needed it.

  • joe mackalis

    March 19, 2014 at 1:26 pm

wait a minute.. the car was still gaining speed when he took his hands of the key board to cover his hears.??????

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:28 pm

James you should review more games from the 2000′s

  • Yann Lamoureux

    March 19, 2014 at 1:29 pm

I am actually crying, it was the best avgn video in the last episodes. Thank you nerd and good luck with your movie.

  • Dylan Fehlman

    March 19, 2014 at 1:32 pm

Great episode! and I think the reason this game is so bad is because it probably wasn’t finished and was found and released in its pre-alpha stage.

  • Jim

    March 19, 2014 at 1:34 pm

A new AVGN. Awesome. I really didn’t expect this game, but it was a great choice.

  • March 19, 2014 at 1:39 pm

    Hahaha, and as always… hilarious!

  • Michael Lane

    March 19, 2014 at 2:02 pm

Props James. This is the best, funniest episode I have seen in a long time, and i’ve seen every episode at least 2 or 3 times. Thanks for making me laugh again, and keeping me informed of the shitty games out there.

  • Dariusz

    March 19, 2014 at 2:28 pm

OK, continuity error – you cover your ears with both your hands and somehow the truck still accelerates and then in the next cut you let go of the button. :)

    Aside from that, great episode.

  • March 19, 2014 at 2:28 pm

    the nerd is back again

  • Christian Mielke

    March 19, 2014 at 2:31 pm

The Producer Sergej Titov has a reputation nowadays that is so bad that he even had to delete his on Wikipedia Article. This name stands for everything LJN ever wanted to be. Even though BigRigs is the worst single player game in the world his last fraud became the worst mmo up to date (“War Z”) and is the only game that got actually taken out of the Steam store for a while!

An just a funfact: sergej titov belonged to the founding programmers team of league of legends! yes, exactly, that league of legends! he got fired because of his poor attitude and his lack of skill soon enough but still….

hard to believe that this guy’s still walking around out there with quite a bit of money…..

    • March 19, 2014 at 2:58 pm

No WarZ!!! Aahahahahahahahahah, that man sure is worst than LJN, they did mostly shit games, but even one or two good ones and some mediocre ones.
This guy is not even like Uwe Boll of gaming, he did Rampage witch is a really good movie. This guy is the worst. xD

  • Tor Johnson

    March 19, 2014 at 2:32 pm

Thank you for your great job guys!

Instant Classic Nerd Episode. One of the funniest episodes. I would rate it in my top 5 Nerd Episodes
    1. Milon’s Secret Castle 2. Ikari Warriors 3. This One 4. Super Mario 3/The Wizard 5. Atari Porn

  • March 19, 2014 at 3:13 pm

James, a bad game that I would love to see you do as an AVGN episode is Pac-Man 2 for the Sega Genesis, a game that reaches that rare level of so bad it’s good, or at least funny, and it delves so terribly far and away from the original concept of the original Pac-Man that it’s baffling, and I think the game is rife with content for an AVGN episode. Keep up the great work, can’t wait to see The AVGN Movie.

  • March 19, 2014 at 3:16 pm

This was a really entertaining episode James. Keep up the good work!

  • March 19, 2014 at 3:45 pm

Great video James. I would like to point out the video I saw few years back of this game (finnish review I should call it)

It was funnier to me than your version but you got more variety and in depth look at the “game” so I really love them both now. Thank you for reviewing this “game”.

  • risk

    March 19, 2014 at 3:45 pm

Fantastic! Always like to see a new AVGN! I’ve never played the game because I heard that it sucked massive dick. The hype was right.

Welp, thanks for another great video, keep up the good work!

  • Radelta

    March 19, 2014 at 3:52 pm

The most shocking detail of all of this : Sergey actually still works, and GETS PAID to make games.

  • March 19, 2014 at 4:07 pm

Maybe it lets you win every time as if to say: “We’re sorry we charged people for this horrific mess.”

  • March 19, 2014 at 4:12 pm

He should review the game desert bus. I think that would count as worse than this lol

    BEST EPISODE IN AGES MAN!

  • Brian Hurt

    March 19, 2014 at 7:16 pm

The beginning made me feel like the episode might be lackluster, but by the end this proved to be the funniest Nerd episode yet. I have truly never laughed so hard. Thank you, James. You da man.

  • March 19, 2014 at 7:34 pm

How about my number two least favorite game now Ride to Hell Retribution 1% or whatever it is exactly called. I got to tell you I almost think things are just getting worse. I thought the Jag,Cdi,Cdtv,3D0 era was bad but it had nothing on the early 80s that I was too young to remember, but no we have a renaissance of shit coming our way I think.

  • crkone

    March 19, 2014 at 7:37 pm

God damn this was so fucking hilarious. I was literally rofl.

  • David Fox

    March 19, 2014 at 7:42 pm

Awesome, definitely one of my favorites too. As a metalhead old-school gamer from James’ generation, and currently living in his state of PA, I have to wonder one important thing: ARE THE TATTOOS ON THE NERD’s ARMS IN THE BIG RIG COMMERCIAL REAL? If not, they are pretty nice temp tattoos anyway. But if they are real, our NERD’s done an amazing job of hiding them! Now that I think of it.. I think I’ve seen James with short-sleeves before, and there were no tattoos. Hmm.. guess they are fake then. Oh well! Rock on AVGN!

  • Nicolas Montecinos Silva

    March 19, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Hi James and Mike, my name is Nicolas, i`m from Spain and follow your cannel since the past year. It`s been a good episode this one, i laughted a lot. I`d like you to talk about a game called “MUGEN”, its a game which have a lot of different characters from several video games or movies fighting each other, its so cool, cos` you can fight for example Sub Zero vs Mega Man or Goku vs Ryu etc…
I`d like you to do more episodes, cos` they are really good.
    Greetings from Spain

I was definitely hesitant when I saw this was a PC game, but I was so wrong. I try not to use hyperbole, but this is seriously one of the best episodes you’ve ever done. I thought I might pass out from laughing.

  • Jcr3ws

    March 19, 2014 at 9:41 pm

  • herbsuperb

    March 19, 2014 at 9:46 pm

That commercial bit was interstellar. Too funny. Awesome vid, guys. I’d never heard of that one before, and now I feel bad for the poor dopes that paid money for it.

  • wtfboom

    March 19, 2014 at 11:57 pm

I think I have an explanation for the truck accelerating up the hill (I didn’t check the comments to see if someone already posted a similar explanation, so I might be late to the punch). The truck’s “physics” (if you wanna call it that) are probably calculated 2 dimensionally, ignoring up and down. Imagine that the terrain of the game were completely flat. The truck would be able to move at whatever speed along the flat terrain unimpeded. What the game is essentially doing is calculating the motion of the truck as if it were moving along the flat terrain described above, and after that motion is calculated, simply adjusting the vertical position of the car so that it touches the actual terrain you see in the game. This is the reason the truck seems to accelerate as it moves up the hill, adjustments to the vertical position as the truck ascends a hill increases the 3d distance the truck travelled in that frame, which translates to greater 3d speed.

As far as the overall quality (or lack thereof) of the game, my guess is that the people making the game were capable of a lot better, but sought to quickly throw something together and/or release the game well before they were finished with it to just get a few inevitable bucks from unsuspecting gamers who hadn’t heard of it. The glitches are just too ridiculous to have legitmately fallen through the cracks. For example, it would’ve been trivial to prevent the truck from being able to leave the terrain. All you’d have to do is check the vertical position of the truck each frame, and if it exceeds some stage-dependent max height, stop the truck and only let it move in the opposite direction it was moving when it “hit” the boundary (it would be choppy obviously, but this just shows how easy the bare minimum they could’ve done is). There could’ve simply been a max speed as well, the list goes on from there. Just my two cents.

  • March 20, 2014 at 12:17 am

That lamp post is like that because it’s untextured, when people find unfinished models within games which haven’t had textures applied they often look like that, however sometimes they are grey.

Most unstable? Jurassic Park Trespasser could give it a run for it’s money. And of course, Ultima after those EA SOBs got their claws into it. But Spoony already beat that shit into the ground.

    March 20, 2014 at 2:35 am

MY GOD. I have no words to describe the footage I have seen. I have played, and enjoyed, some shitty games before. I even found a modicum of fun in Superman 64, and Ride to Hell, but this; this takes the crown of shittiest game ever. I need not play it ever as it has been done for me.

  • March 20, 2014 at 2:56 am

This is a funny video about a game that should of never been released. When AVGN shows the credits for the game did anyone else notice the guy who took credit for sound lol. As far as I know the engine rattling is the only sound in the game. I wish AVGN would of pointed that out. Can’t wait for more videos.

    March 20, 2014 at 3:28 am

  • Jay Baker

    March 20, 2014 at 4:01 am

That commercial had everyone in the room (young and old) laughing to tears, I wouldn’t think you could be as creative as you are with a game that poopy. Hats off to you James/Nerd!

  • March 20, 2014 at 4:34 am

Well, you SHOULD see this! The most recent game by Sergey Titov, the creator of Big Rigs. With stolen elements, unfinished, been banned on Steam shortly.

    http://kotaku.com/5969784/the-war-z-mess-every-crazy-detail-we-know-so-far

He’s the dumbest man I’ve ever read about!

  • March 20, 2014 at 5:43 am

I always loved this game because it was so bad. It’s a lot of fun clipping through everything!

  • Griff

    March 20, 2014 at 6:22 am

see James, this is why you should review more recent games, lighten up a little bit on your self imposed rules (the Nostalgia Critic recently has to great effect) because I don’t about you, but the late 90′s and early 2000′s certainly count as “the past” to me

  • Don Skiver

    March 20, 2014 at 7:14 am

    Fuck yeah, a new AVGN!
That Big Rigs commercial you made was a fucking riot! You sounded just like you did in MUNKEY CHEEZ and I half expected you to say it just for kicks. :P

Now how could an Mac user review an CD-ROM Windows game since Wine for Mac and Linux only eumullet Windows and can’t hadded any of the DRM used on the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM versions. They fouse to use that Cowafunking price dog shit called Steam.

    • March 20, 2014 at 4:43 pm

Well, you moron, James is using Mac to EDIT the videos. Do you noticed that when the game crashed the information about the crash was from GODDAMN WINDOWS FKING 8 BULLSHIETHEAD?!

  • Adi Barti

    March 20, 2014 at 8:12 am

James, why don’t you make ‘James and Mike play’ Monday show where you would put a wrench on a keybord and, this time for real, see how fast you can go in reverse. Light speed is 1080 million – do you think you could reach it?

    Great episode by the way!

  • wolfman5874

    March 20, 2014 at 8:13 am

  • meanspirit

    March 20, 2014 at 9:12 am

Having read Wikipedia briefly, to be fair to the developers, it seems that the game actually was pre-alpha but the publishers wanted to make a quick buck and released it anyway. I’m sure none of the guys working on the team were happy to have their names on a product like that. In this instance it’s the greed of the publishers that should be mocked.

  • March 20, 2014 at 10:08 am

I would love to see AVGN review the Postal games. Those are so up his alley!

  • March 20, 2014 at 11:26 am

    What an epic game!

2:00 WOW that’d be my reaction too. A Rig that can fly and go through buildings, that is too funny.

2:52: Omg! Large Marge reference! Thank you, James.

WOW the truck going in reverse….just wow on a stick. Great job on a mock commerical and your cat’s reaction to going to plaid (OMG Space Balls reference) was just priceless.

  • March 20, 2014 at 4:13 pm

This was seriously funny! I was watching it in public with my headphones and was crying, I literally had to pause the video because I couldn’t handle it. People were probably thinking I was a weirdo and hating on me lol. The ending was the best!

    March 20, 2014 at 6:18 pm

Have always enjoyed the Nerd’s reactions to his shitty games, but this is the most I’ve ever laughed at just watching the game itself! Credit to James for keeping it low key the first portion of the video and just letting the game speak for itself. Great shot at 8:20 of the fogged glasses. You’re Winner!

  • March 20, 2014 at 7:02 pm

The best part of this video is the cat.

  • gluserty

    March 20, 2014 at 8:44 pm

I’ve seen “highlights” of this game awhile back on YouTube. Yeah, this game deserves the nerd treatment: it has more bugs than a biology lab, and comes off as being really rushed.

  • March 20, 2014 at 9:14 pm

this has got to be one of the nerds best episodes. great script and most of the humor comes from the nerds reaction shots as he talks about the game. the best episodes always have more clips of the nerd in front of the camera than of him narrating what is going on in the game. i couldn’t stop laughing. and the video got better as it built up to the end.

Okay, so the nerd was holding down the reverse button with his finger… but then later he had both hands up against his ears to block out the noise. Was he holding the button down with his foot there? Oh God, I hope it was his foot.

You did a greatjob with this video, taking the Nerd show to its simplistic roots. Such an awesome comeback! Im so excited for the next video. I stopped every single thing I was doing to make sure I saw this, Its actually a big deal when you release a new video. All my support to anything and everything you do Rolfffff <3

  • March 22, 2014 at 12:31 am

I love the game credits, I mean creditskys. Meanwhile in Russia…Hey everybody we’re making truck games. In Soviet Russia truck drives YOU…MAD! Great episode BTW.

  • March 22, 2014 at 8:15 am

10 years later Steam took the idea of the developers and Early Access was born.

  • March 22, 2014 at 12:24 pm

James have you seen the new Godzilla movie if you had can you possible do a review of it thanks.

  • March 22, 2014 at 10:32 pm

I knew of this game and to see AVGN review it was a surprise…being PC and all. I’m also surprised he didn’t reference Action 52 in terms of quality. I’m impressed with how he managed an entire episode out of it…there’s so little there.

Now, if you want to review any other PC games….the Extreme series would be a good start: Extreme Paint Brawl and the like. I don’t think those run on modern PCs though.

  • March 23, 2014 at 1:26 am

James I am not trying to spam or advertise on your site, I am making no money or getting compensated in any way for this, but Resogun is a game on the PS4 I think you would enjoy, it is a modern update to a classic 90′s space shooter arcade, if you like you can delete this comment, like I said I am just recommending a game for you I think you would like.

I’m pretty sure that ‘Big Rigs’ was not available on the Commodore 64… as if the system were to even be able to play Compact Disc games to begin with.

    • March 24, 2014 at 3:42 am

Look up satire and sarcasm, also jokes and humor. If you have common sense, you should understand. If not, then thats something else you should look up.

      • OMA

        March 27, 2014 at 10:42 pm

Aside from satire and sarcasm, there’s an actual Commodore-64 shaped PC with modern guts, and that’s what James is actually using for his PC reviews! (so far, this and the “AVGN Games” episode).

Big Riggs is at least entertainingly bad. Some guy made a patch for it that fixes it & makes it boring; basically “Rig of Rods” without people.

I’d argue that “Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis” is much worse, yet at least better than Superman 64, though not by much.

    Daikatana! Do Daikatana! Pleaseplease!

A PC game from 2003, looks like you evolved to your christmas dream if playing Wii games!

but yeah, this is often hailed as the worst videogame ever. you actually can drive faster backwards than forward in it. that game never dies :P

Its worth noting though, the game was never actually commercialy released. what you are playing is a beta version, that got canceled, because well this. You can actually win the race in couple seconds just by going forwards and backwards because it does not know you havnet done a lap.

ITs actually the ONLY game that IGN gave bellow 1 score.

  • Ericco79

    March 28, 2014 at 10:42 am

One of my favorites! And your “commercial” almost makes the game sound legit. Very good marketing!

  • March 29, 2014 at 6:43 pm

Whew Top speed was almost -52000 (you could see the decimal point in the black part of the speedometer).
Talking of rolling the speedometer over, there could’ve been an Airplane II – the Sequel reference, but I guess James could either reference Airplane 2 or Spaceballs, not both.

Great episode. Now that you’ve tried Big Rigs, you should do a review of VirtualBus Simulator. Another game from the creators of Big Rigs, that’s even worse.

  • April 2, 2014 at 8:57 am

It could just be me, but I like the videos with James’ old camera better than his new HD camera. The older videos with the older camera added to the nostalgic atmosphere while talking about and reviewing classic consoles and games. New is not always better.

I gotta admit, I never heard of this game before and I didn’t think this was going to be a good episode when I saw some random truck racing game. Why did I ever doubt AVGN!? This was some crazy stuff. Great job as always!

I actually knew one of the Russian guys from this game’s credits (will keep his name in secret in case he is reading this) when I worked in South Korea 5 years ago. I was also in game development that time. This guy was advertising this game in his portfolio to get better positions in game development companies. Therefore the game is so raw. Some people just made something minimally working to improve their portfolios and maybe with luck to get some money out of it (last time I saw him he was looking for another job).

It’s funny that Big Rigs developer Stellar Stone’s main office is in Santa Monica and earlier at least in London, but games are mainly developed in Russia and this one – the Big Rigs – in Ukraine because of low costs, low budget and maybe a fast develop time.

Really? How big was the budget after all? If I would have this kind o budget, I will do a better game myself with a picture of my dick and how to put it in the blender.

    ————-

    James and Mike:

Thanks for the all AVGN-episodes! I like your chemistry with each other.

James: You have been a blast and light to these long polar nights over a years. Keep on going!

If James thinks that’s bats*it insane, I wonder if he’s played Goat Simulator yet. I highly recommend it. In fact, I’m calling GOTY right now.

Of course, all the physics glitches and shenanigans are deliberate, or at least deliberately left unfixed, so it’s not as shockingly bad as Big Rigs.

    May 5, 2014 at 9:17 pm

The commercial in the video was awesome, the rest… entertaining but kind of tired. Gamespot made this game famous 10 years ago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR3a0gixfwI, and it’s been mocked countless other times. I was surprised to see this as an AVGN episode because the nerd is usually the one bringing obscure games to the spotlight.

I suddely noticed some familiar names on the credit screen of this game. Turns out, I work for some of the guys who made this game. I asked them about it, they said they developed the raw version almost overnight, not even tested it yet and had no idea at the time that their USA partner had it released like that. Crazy.
