March 10, 2014 at 12:41 am

March 10, 2014 at 12:43 am

March 10, 2014 at 12:52 am
OMG this game was made by NOVALOGIC!! BEst Company EVER! (untile recently)
They are responsible for the legendary delta force game of 1998, followed by remakes of the open world engine that were fun but lacked key things like better hit detection, vehicle physics, and advertisement to promote the game. Today they remain a hidden broke company still claiming to soon release the latest of the open world tactical series, Delta Force: Angel Falls. But its been delayed 6 years so far
March 10, 2014 at 1:02 am
I wonder how this game would have turned out if it was smoothed out. Then again, the Philips CD-i wasn’t known for having many quality games.
March 10, 2014 at 2:17 pm
There’s no evidence that the game would have been any good. The CD-i Zelda games don’t give us much reason for confidence that developers wouldn’t be simply looking to cash in on some of Nintendo’s best IP. Secondly, to say that the level designs look dull and uninspired would be an understatement. Thirdly, the idea of putting Mario in real places is a jarring one which makes little sense and, c’mon, Mario’s all about the Mushroom Kingdom and associated lands. It’s part of the magic.
March 13, 2014 at 12:17 am
It would be quite easy and inexpensive for a fan to finish, but Nintendo is notorious for suing the hell out of any body touching their IP’s.
March 10, 2014 at 1:17 am
Looks like the Ice World was the most polished, even if the one stage acted like it had a virus (call Dr. Mario!).
March 10, 2014 at 1:19 am
this explains why the graphics were so down to earth and well done mixed with open world scenery. Also explains the reason why each level was a setting on earth instead of a bunch of blocks. Also the company is based in California(slightly north of LA) where they see this kind of scenery all day
March 10, 2014 at 1:20 am
Mike really took one for the team here, Mr.Resetti from Animal Crossing would be sooooo pissed.
Thanks for showing us the game guys!
March 10, 2014 at 1:33 am
Wow, a lot like the Zelda games … looks cool. Wonder just how long they had to make even these levels.
March 10, 2014 at 1:41 am
hand down..the best mario game ever! ….maybe the game should have been called Mario’s Glitchy World
March 10, 2014 at 1:42 am
None of the levels of this game were close to even being finished from the looks of it with the first level and the ice stages having the most playability. Sorry you guys had to suffer through this, how about next week you guys do a good game? Something that is 2 player co-op, I always enjoy it when you guys do those.
March 10, 2014 at 1:43 am
Love Mondays! could you please do another 16mm film video please! your last one inspired me to start collecting 16mm films and I’m dying for an update to your collections. TY!
March 10, 2014 at 1:50 am
wow i never knew this was even made at all. thanks for the epic video!
March 10, 2014 at 1:55 am
March 10, 2014 at 2:06 am
It’s funny seeing your reactions and jokes! Thanks for sparing us most of the resets. This game had some potential that’s probably best left in the hands of fangame makers.
March 10, 2014 at 2:19 am
Looks like you guys could use a finglonger.
March 10, 2014 at 2:57 am
I love this you guys always make me smile so much x
March 10, 2014 at 3:45 am
“Damn it, they’re almost out of time and still jumping around the arctic stages… if they give up before I get to see Neon City and that Plaid one, I’m going to be pissed…”
(They actually play Neon City and Land of Plaid)
“Um… never mind…”
March 10, 2014 at 5:24 am
So is this the first time you play a game on a CD-R? I don’t think you had one of the prototype discs, did you?
March 10, 2014 at 5:29 am
I really wish they would have made this game instead of Hotel Mario.
March 10, 2014 at 6:15 am
great video, gotta love the music loop.
March 10, 2014 at 7:03 am
Why didn’t they at least finish creating one whole level?!
Please please please play a Rampage game for a James & Mike Monday! (if you choose Rampage World Tour on N64 i’ll love you forever)
March 10, 2014 at 7:13 am
Aww… This game is a huge let down and disappointment…
March 10, 2014 at 7:36 am
This piece of shit game should have come packaged with a free stick, because even if it was completed it would have been crap.
I liked the Elvis impression mike! Maybe you could do a whole song about shitty games in Evlvis’s style.
March 10, 2014 at 9:48 am
I think it could have been very good if it was completed. At least a decent rip-off of Super Mario World is a good game.
March 10, 2014 at 8:18 am
Man, that lookd painful to play. How about a good game next time: Alien Soldier on the Genesis? A pretty nice shooter, different weapons, running upside down, crazy bosses…
March 10, 2014 at 9:15 am
I remember messing around with this on an emulator. I wonder what it would have become had they finished it. I read that technical limitations in the CDI’s hardware also contributed to it being abandoned. For example, they wouldn’t be able to put too many enemies on screen at once. the CDI clearly had some really weak hardware as it wasn’t meant for gaming.
March 10, 2014 at 9:20 am
Could you avoid to do only shitty games, because i liked it better when you did things that were cool to do that no one knows, or games that are co-op challenges. It doesn’t have to be funny, i like you guys even if you do some serious stuff that you might or might not complete. It’s not like, there’s little choice. Just a suggestion, there’s only one reason because i say this: if you do so many funny bits about shitty games i feel like it will take away for the purpose of having a chracter like the Nerd. Maybe it’s just me, but still it’s what i feel.
March 10, 2014 at 9:24 am
Sorry major mistake, i said bullcrap this was never released, you did do a thing that i asked in said post. I though this was that other released Mario CD-I game, i never played and saw them so i didn’t know. I realized that near the end of the video, after posting the final two minutes and there it goes. Then i rewatched that initial part of the video and there you mention it all.
I’m dumb, i wish i could erase my previous comment. xD
March 10, 2014 at 9:58 am
The Northen MCP. End of line.
March 10, 2014 at 9:59 am
March 10, 2014 at 10:01 am
Super Mario’s Wacky Worlds. More like Super Mario’s Glitchy Nightmares!
March 10, 2014 at 11:15 am
more like super mario makes you have to hurl
March 10, 2014 at 10:35 am
Tom and Jerry house trap PS1. That will be a fun episode of James and Mike mondays.
March 10, 2014 at 11:04 am
I find it very interesting because Super Mario Wacky Worlds were never relerase it was cancelled. Until now. But the game is broken.
March 10, 2014 at 11:14 am
why dont they just finish 1 level at a time
March 10, 2014 at 11:30 am
How do you guys get a copy of an unreleased CD-I game?!
March 10, 2014 at 11:37 am
More Commercials and less content on this website site recently
March 10, 2014 at 11:39 am
WTF? I thought the whole point back in the day with the first CD add-ons and consoles like this was to have more memory for better graphics and sound? This POS game doesn’t even have ONE layer of parallax scrolling backgrounds? It actually went backwards in visual quality from Super Mario World on the SNES!
March 10, 2014 at 12:15 pm
Love J & M Mondays! But I think it is time you guys played an enjoyable game haha would also love to see you guys play Ghosts n Goblins, such a fun game ;P
March 10, 2014 at 12:37 pm
“It’s a minefield of glitches.” – I want this on a shirt.
March 10, 2014 at 1:15 pm
The Gremlin was all over this one!
March 10, 2014 at 1:25 pm
plays and sounds like Super Mario World but looks and feels like Mario’s Time Machine and Mario is Missing and of course IT’S ON CD-I!!!!
March 10, 2014 at 1:29 pm
I still can’t believe Nintendo whored out their 2 most popular characters/franchises to Phillips as part of their agreement after they decided not to go forward with the SNES CD-ROM add-on. None of these games should have ever seen the light of day. Complete garbage and in insult to Shiggy!
March 10, 2014 at 2:01 pm
Those Mike and James play keep getting longer and longer, I have no problem with that
March 10, 2014 at 2:30 pm
This is worse than Action 52 -James Rolfe
That would look great on the box art
March 10, 2014 at 3:26 pm
I’m impressed that you tried them all!
March 10, 2014 at 3:41 pm
mud monk, that made me giggle
March 10, 2014 at 3:42 pm
how did you guys get a prototype of a game that wasnt even released?
March 10, 2014 at 4:38 pm
Listen from 19:39 to 19:55 with your eyes closed LOL xD
March 10, 2014 at 5:12 pm
I thnik those diffent numbers are not meant to be whole levels, it seems more like they are different Parts of the same level.
So, there are not 6 Jungle Swamps, only 1 with 6 parts connected through pipes and those M things.
March 10, 2014 at 7:05 pm
The guys who made Action 52 probably did this game
March 10, 2014 at 7:10 pm
From these guys from Comanche and Delta Force PC games ?
March 10, 2014 at 8:25 pm
YES!!! ive asked for this in like 8 episodes!!!
March 10, 2014 at 9:49 pm
I think playing the game is def. worst than reset bitch. without reset bitch your stuck in glitch limbo.
March 10, 2014 at 11:16 pm
Wow…this has to be the MOST broken prototype I’ve ever seen, it barely qualifies as a game.
March 10, 2014 at 11:23 pm
What were they /thinking?/
March 11, 2014 at 12:10 am
Interesting. My theory, there are so many um…level things. Like Swamp 1, Swamp 2, etc. Maybe, if the game would’ve been finished and the glitches fixed, they were all going to be connected, like literally. Like how people compose songs in Mario Paint composer and combine the parts together.
March 11, 2014 at 12:20 am
“Prototype” is a very poor choice of term for this game. A prototype would suggest the game was borderline ready for release.
This is clearly an “Alpha”, a game that was just barely in its first stages of development. From the looks of it this game only received a month or two of development before it was scrapped, hence why its such a mess.
They hadn’t even had time to add proper vertical scrolling, as indicated by the ice maze stage going nuts every time James & Mike tried to go up.
March 11, 2014 at 1:26 am
Hey can you guys do Clayfighter? I never played that game and I think it may sound fun.
March 11, 2014 at 7:21 am
I wonder if each number is supposed to be a different screen to the same level.
March 11, 2014 at 8:48 am
Fuck you Mike Matei!
March 11, 2014 at 8:54 am
Oh wow didn’t think that would actually get posted…got nothing against you Mike.
March 11, 2014 at 9:31 am
This would have been better for an AVGN episode
March 11, 2014 at 10:05 am
ROTFL! James took the 1st level of Greece(!), and during Mike´s turn, he said: So, this is ancient Rome?
How ´bout a geographic educational game? ;P
March 11, 2014 at 11:42 am
Sorry you guys had to suffer through that. Thanks for the great vid. though.
March 11, 2014 at 12:18 pm
Today I will be your Reset bitch…
March 11, 2014 at 12:52 pm
This looks like a job for the Finglonger!
March 11, 2014 at 1:30 pm
Reminds me of the Action 52 AVGN review. I love how lazy you guys are being about having to reset, even having to lean forward with the stick is too much work, awesome.
March 11, 2014 at 1:33 pm
Why does this remind me of Cheetahmen II? The answer: they’re both unfinished.
March 11, 2014 at 1:47 pm
Ahh… the real life of a video game tester.
March 11, 2014 at 1:48 pm
ZZZZZZzzzzzz…..ZZZZZZzzzzzzz…..ZZZZZZZzzzzz…….. Not finishing this one.
March 11, 2014 at 3:43 pm
I hate to sound negative but I would really rather see you guys play some good co-op games like in the Contra videos. Last game was the Universal one and that was split into 2 videos. That game was extremely boring to play so you can imagine how boring it is to just watch. THIS game isn’t even complete…. How about some Double Dragon, or Jackal?? We already see enough shitty games with the nerd episodes, I think it would be great to see you guys take advantage of some good 2 player jems.
March 12, 2014 at 3:04 am
Videos on protoype in general more intersting because you can see glimpse of the game in early state, so trying to figure out what’s going on in this state, and what did they plan
March 14, 2014 at 2:35 pm
Sorry, I do NOT find them getting 10 steps into an unfinished level and getting stuck interesting in the LEAST.
March 21, 2014 at 10:53 am
I don’t necessarily think they need to play co-op games (although that would be good), but I’m not liking the unfinished games. It’s fine if they criticise bad games, but things like this seem pointless. It’s like me drafting the chapter for a book and someone doing a book review on it and making fun of it for being incomplete and incoherent.
March 11, 2014 at 3:45 pm
Ha, nice Elvis Mike.
March 11, 2014 at 7:36 pm
March 11, 2014 at 8:12 pm
I work as a QA tester in the video game industry and seeing this made me go insane, SO MANY THINGS TO BUG!! O.O
March 12, 2014 at 3:02 am
The green screen might be stages that never passed the early layout stage, they would probably build graphics on top of that.
The swamp stages could be some sort of puzzle hat you need to find the right tube to get in
March 12, 2014 at 3:06 am
Oh and I think the stage with the slide really had sliding in mind, and used to introduce the mechanic
March 13, 2014 at 3:13 am
This actually looks kinda good. At least it seems like a Super Mario game as opposed to the other Nintendo franchise games on the CD-i. It looks rather original too. Kinda sad it never got finished.
March 13, 2014 at 5:59 am
Obviously the game was broken, incomplete, and didn’t work, but that made for one of the more entertaining videos in a while!
March 13, 2014 at 10:40 am
Dude, your site has turned into a fucking billboard… Have adblocker turned off on your site, but might have to think about bringing it back…
March 13, 2014 at 2:34 pm
James you lazyboy! poor Mike has to run all over the place XD
March 14, 2014 at 5:45 pm
I love how you guys can present even an unfinished broken mess like this in a very entertaining way. Good job.
Those ghost-things in the background at 14:48 min are probably all former “stick-boys” xD or a reference to Vlad “Tepes” dracula.
March 15, 2014 at 12:19 pm
i could never play games with mike just listen to how he tries to be in charge when you guys play two play games like dont move james ok your going to fast james oh fuck you james you killed me my vote is for more videos where you shit and beat on mike preferably hes in costume so we dont have to see his face
March 15, 2014 at 4:07 pm
james i think i have an epic idea for the e.t. video how about since thats your nemesis and yet to do a video of it maybe have us the fan put together clips and footage and to make a montage of the best clips while trying your best to go in order of sequence of the game i have been dying for a response i post alot although i just created an account maybe a week ago
March 16, 2014 at 1:14 am
hah, all the damn pipes are broken in a mario game. Sounds like a good idea to add a feature: fix the fucking pipes!
March 16, 2014 at 6:03 pm
the water level , when the screen filckers ya can just see the checkard background in super mario 3 start up
March 17, 2014 at 7:51 am
How the hell did you even got your hands on a prototype game anyways? Anywho, seems like they first map out the level with that green stuff before they put a world to it, once they put the world to it they test it to make sure there’s no bugs when walking through anything, once they’re done with that they add enemies, then they link the pipes to the coin rooms (I’m assuming anyways).
March 21, 2014 at 6:55 am
What a turd! Plaid land looks like an Atari game. Nice Elvis impersonation, Mike! Thanks for suffering this for us!
March 23, 2014 at 11:28 pm
Salaam, all the way from UK,Reading,Cemetery Junction..
James can you tell me what you was drinking from that red cup please..thank you.
March 28, 2014 at 1:06 pm
Stick Boy! Get that stick… boy
May 28, 2014 at 4:20 pm
this game is total ass I am glade they never finished this load of shit fuck
July 30, 2014 at 5:48 pm
very nice observations there james. you seem to understand things well.
September 4, 2014 at 8:41 am
>”This is a seizure inducing game”
>*Shows more examples of this kind of effect*
>*Never shows a seizure warning in advance*
September 4, 2014 at 8:52 am
It’s an incomplete game, very early in the development phase and with funding dropped without much notice, do you seriously think the developers then decided to spend more time and their own money to go and fix issues for a incomplete game that will not be sold?
