February 17, 2014 at 12:34 am
Awesome Video Keep it up JAMES!!
February 17, 2014 at 1:06 am
et meets back to the future meets Jurassic park?! That just has indie written all over it lol
February 17, 2014 at 12:35 am
Reminds me of going there as a kid… game looks crap though lulz
February 17, 2014 at 8:33 am
I went there last year, Good thing I didn’t go there back in 2001, then I would have had to pickup garbage in order to buy hats just so I can get past 5 person lines (guarded by woody woodpecker, of course).
February 25, 2014 at 10:01 pm
the fuck you talking about the PSX was a DVR from sony released only in japan
February 28, 2014 at 5:39 pm
The PSX SCIR91 is referring to is shorthand for the PS1. I don’t know why people say that because Brenden is right in saying the PSX is a different product.
February 18, 2014 at 8:54 pm
it uses the same graphics style as final fantasy 7 on psx. obviously the graphics were better there but this is how you controlled your character in the game, at least in towns, dungeons, and other parts
February 20, 2014 at 7:23 pm
The difference in Final Fantasy VII is that whenever there was a change in camera angles Cloud (the main protagonist) would keep going in the right direction even if you held the controller in the opposite direction. Here, the kid just stops dead on his tracks. In FF VII there was enough time to adjust your control stick so he would keep running smoothly, and the best part was that you never EVER got really confused as to where you were, unlike here. I seriously would never even compare this game to FF VII. It’s like comparing excrement to cream.
February 17, 2014 at 12:45 am
Hey guys Bobby Brady here,I was going through uncle Ken’s vhs tapes and i found a film called Carnage 1986.The last 35 mins or so will blow your fucking minds. Also whats the word on Stallone games AVGN review?Bye guys.
February 17, 2014 at 12:46 am
This looks really cool. Reminds me of the game Thrillville. Basically you one a theme park and add rides and snacks and stuff… it’s pretty cool. Looking forward to part 2!
February 17, 2014 at 12:47 am
Such a weird game.Great video guys.
February 17, 2014 at 12:56 am
another great video guys!
February 17, 2014 at 12:58 am
22:27 for an epic fail/win James’ voice cracked and mike’s face is devastated
February 20, 2014 at 7:26 pm
Hehe 😀 I love the way how Mike’s grin just gradually fades as colour drains from his face. He literally looks like he’s about to cry. 🙂
February 17, 2014 at 1:07 am
whens the next avgn?
February 17, 2014 at 1:17 am
This still looks like more fun that Simpsons: Tapped Out.
February 17, 2014 at 2:23 am
monday is my favorite time of year
February 17, 2014 at 3:02 am
I remember renting this game from Blockbuster back in the day
February 17, 2014 at 3:17 am
The game is actually not bad once you get the hang of it. I used to play this one all the time, basically because I am a Universal Studios nut. In Jaws, you kind of have to throw the barrel just before he appears. Sort of a delayed reaction. In E.T., you have to pull the left stick back a little to avoid falling. As you are in the air, you can control the bike so you won’t fall, and lose time. I am surprised you guys didn’t do this game sooner with all of the movies it represents. Looking forward to part 2! I have to warn ya…Back to the Future could cause immense rage…
February 17, 2014 at 6:03 am
Oh god… FFvii/viii angles!
February 17, 2014 at 7:14 am
Damn ya beat me to it. Was gonna say, heavily reminded of FF8… so irritating.
February 17, 2014 at 7:20 am
lmfao… You guys are so impatient, lol. Mike is freaking out and James is all laid back just laughing his ass off. I can definitely see who is the Type A personality and who is the Type B personality here. 😛
Can’t wait for the next vid guys, I’m dying to see Back to the Future!
Didn’t they have the Terminator ride back when this game was made? I’m 99% sure it came out in 2001.
February 17, 2014 at 7:24 am
Why does its say arco n not orca in the second attempt at jaws?
February 17, 2014 at 7:47 am
Awesome 🙂 And yea, standing in line to try games is a brilliant idea 😛
Oh and they mentioned the Highlander game that Spooney reviewed, what an odd moment.
February 17, 2014 at 11:27 am
They reviewed Higlander in the Jaguar CD video.
February 17, 2014 at 8:04 am
This game is one of the worst. I hated it. I would love to see the nerd review it
February 17, 2014 at 8:35 am
Throwing barrels at Jaws what is this Donkey Kong ?
February 17, 2014 at 8:46 am
Some guy told you that you need to throw trash in the trash can. He says something like “how hard can it be”, or something, so I guess you pick up the garbage to throw it in the bin.
February 17, 2014 at 8:56 am
I remember going to Universal Studios in Orlando when I was 11. I got to see the Nickelodeon Studio thing before they closed it down about a year or two later. This game really does look crappy. It gives Universal Studios Theme Parks a bad name.
February 17, 2014 at 9:37 am
I remember when, back in 2002, I bought a Gamecube at day one and the guy at the store tried to sell me this game instead of Luigi’s Mansion, who was out of stock. Lucky me, I decided to take Wave Race… it would have been the worst day one ever. Gamecube has been one of the best consoles ever, memories I will never forget. Thanks for the video, and for the free time travel service.
February 17, 2014 at 11:23 am
It’s games like this that make me loathe modern video games. Why does it have to be so difficult? It shouldn’t be any more difficult than picking up a controller and blasting away enemies, or searching for items to help you defeat enemies. Bad camera perspective, godawful controls, and blocking you from playing certain sections should not be part of the overall game play.
February 17, 2014 at 11:34 am
Thanks for chugging through that tedious game for us guys. We love ya for it :).
February 17, 2014 at 1:01 pm
On a few of the Back To The Future dvd’s they put the universal ride on them. Along with the actual movie
February 17, 2014 at 1:31 pm
So after all these years THIS was the dreaded ET game? Just kidding. 😉
February 17, 2014 at 2:12 pm
you know what day it is at Universal Studios?
Ha, ha, ha !
February 17, 2014 at 2:16 pm
Looks like they took the engine from a Final Fantasy game pretty much but removed all the things that make FF cool… You complain about walking in strange directions etc when the screen changes, but that pretty much defined games like FFVIII etc. Not that it makes it acceptable though.
February 17, 2014 at 2:51 pm
They should have used standing in line as the loading screen! It’d make some sense. One time I got a six flags game… I remember you could get items by looking in trash cans for some reason.
February 17, 2014 at 2:57 pm
Honestly I don’t get why you kept walking around in the Jaws game. It seems like the strategy is to get the boat hit in all places until there’s one green segment left, then you know Jaws will only attack that part of the ship so you just camp there.
February 17, 2014 at 4:22 pm
This would have made a very interesting AVGN episode
February 17, 2014 at 5:24 pm
Well, the game got one thing right…..it was an EXACT simulation of being there at an amusement park when there are really long lines…..”FUCK I JUST WANT TO GET ON THE RIDE!!!” lol
February 17, 2014 at 5:52 pm
Love these. Definitely deserve to be on a DVD, although I guess with one every week (and this one half an hour long!) that there’s just too much content for that.
February 17, 2014 at 6:07 pm
that was real funny! I had some ideas i wish i could have told you to help you with the game and thats when it dawned on me this would have been so cool if you would have live streamed it. like live stream on twicht an you can take turns like james plays the game while mike is on the laptop with twicht and then you switch and mike plays while james is on the laptop and i think the fans would love to talk with yall while yall play the game and it would be fun for every one. i understand you have lives an you can work around things with recording the way you do but if you could take a couple hours one day and live stream playing some games and talking to the fans that would be so awesome
February 17, 2014 at 6:22 pm
I wanted to watch this video, but the line was too long.
February 17, 2014 at 6:50 pm
the more I watch you guys play the more I realize you two suck at playing video games.
February 17, 2014 at 7:15 pm
James/Mike… the perspective and transitions in this game remind me of 3D Movie Maker. Haha
February 17, 2014 at 7:49 pm
I wonder why they never made an attraction based on The Wizard at Universal…
February 17, 2014 at 8:19 pm
This looks like a Dreamcast game.
February 17, 2014 at 8:33 pm
I like James and Mike Monday’s better the Game Grumps.
February 17, 2014 at 8:59 pm
I bought this game shortly after we got our Wii to use the gamecube feature. Had total potential to be amazing. The camera angle is what really killed it for me.
February 17, 2014 at 9:23 pm
With how much you guys love Konami and old-school games, you should do a Let’s Play of Castlevania – Rondo of Blood (via the Wii Virtual Console), Castlevania Rebirth or Contra Rebirth (both of which are also available for download on the Wii).
If you play Rondo, be prepared to get your ass handed to you as well (though, if you make it to the end, Dracula is laughably easy).
February 17, 2014 at 10:42 pm
Wow, this game is appalling.
February 17, 2014 at 10:47 pm
Good lord, this looks awful.
February 17, 2014 at 11:07 pm
About the camera thing, did you ever played Resident Evil? That’s the way it always been for that kind of game. It’s not bad as you say, just use common sense. Come on!
February 18, 2014 at 1:35 am
Yeah except RE has tank controls and this game doesn’t… makes it difficult without
February 17, 2014 at 11:41 pm
I would pay money to see ET say “bye fuck you” haha
February 18, 2014 at 12:13 am
That messed up background camera angle is called final fantasy 7 syndrome
Actually Universal Studios Hollywood isn’t in Hollywood. It’s boarder line Studio City and North Hollywood. I only know know this cause I live in the SFV. My apologies if I come off as a douchbag for this.
Great video! I don’t know how you guys manage to put up with these awful games and still seem to have a good time.
As for what I’d like to see you play – Demon’s Crest. The game isn’t very well known and has a colorful history. Nintendo Power claimed that it sold negative copies by having more returns than sales one week which were never well explained. One interesting, though probably false, explanation claimed that a fundamentalist southern church had somehow gotten access to 20,000 copies of the game from a stolen 18 wheeler shipping for some big retailer – Walmart, as I recall – and that the congregation went about returning the stolen games to hurt the publishers and retailers who carried it. At any rate, it’s a good game and an interesting nugget of video game history.
February 18, 2014 at 2:32 am
Hey MIKE! Please brother… Do a play of Super Meat boy. These crap ass 90s-2000s deals are killing me!
February 18, 2014 at 3:04 am
The game reminds me of Disneyland Kinect. I heard the Disneyland game was pretty fun, at least that’s what friends and family tell me, never got around to trying it at anybodies house, but I’ve seen video and man. So glad they didn’t take cues from the Universal Studios game! Shame such a fun theme park has such a crappy game. It’s truly nerd worthy. Would love to see someone take a crack at rebooting the concept though. Could be a fun game.
February 18, 2014 at 5:20 am
I actually liked fixed camera angles in the old Alone in the Dark games, since they created a spooky, unsettling atmosphere. The disorientation you felt when the camera angle shifted was actually a positive, immersive feature. Similar to the fog in Silent Hill, it was a technical restriction which ended up working in the game’s advantage.
In this particular game though I see no advantage at all of fixed camera angles. Except perhaps they make you nauseated which I guess might simulate an actual amusement park experience, especially after the dreaded bad hot dog / rollercoaster ride combo.
February 18, 2014 at 12:04 pm
every game with ET on it is DOOMED
February 18, 2014 at 1:34 pm
I used to work at universal studios
ET works there is a set list of names you had to pick from. common names mike, tom, bob etc
so you coudlnt make ET swear
There were some funny thing you coudl do with asian names but you cant really make ET swear
the funnniest thing you could do was make et say famous peopel with 2 first names for example
DO A BARREL ROLL !
February 18, 2014 at 1:45 pm
Oh man, that game is silly and just ridiculous. Bad, fixed-camera perspectives, shoddy controls, and lines for the rides! Not to mention arcane ways to get into them! It sure didn’t lieve up to exectations, but the video was fun nonetheless.
I’ve gone to Universal Studios in Florida once. We went on E.T., Jaws, and King Kong. I can’t remember what else. Probably some ferris wheels and other amusement park type stuff. I remember Jurassic Park wasn’t finished yet, so we didn’t go on that, the BttF line was too long. Oh, we went on that earthquake ride! After it’s over, you get to watch everything go in reverse. That was really cool. I didn’t know that a bunch of the lot burned down, along with King Kong. That sucks! ET was cool, you go to his planet, but I don’t remember the name thing. I remember a shark or two in Jaws were broken and didn’t pop up. Just like in the movie! 😀
February 20, 2014 at 2:17 am
I remember the name thing for the fact that it didn’t work. I listened and listened and listened for ET to say any of my family’s names the whole time we slid by that area, but I never heard any. They went to all that trouble with the extra step of collecting and entering all those names, and then either they lost ours, or they let the whole ride get totally out of synchronization with the list.
But hey, that ride was still much cooler than “King Kong slowly shakes you a little bit. (Hours in line well-spent!)”
February 18, 2014 at 1:47 pm
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention… ET? I saw the screenshot and thought Paperboy at first, haha.
February 18, 2014 at 3:32 pm
Are you really going to make us wait an entire week to see part 2 ?
February 18, 2014 at 4:40 pm
Anyone remember the part in Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time) where you actually have to wait in a line for like 10min to get a health powerup?
February 18, 2014 at 7:09 pm
At 11:20, did Mike call him “Woody Wet Pecker?” LOL!!!
February 18, 2014 at 8:50 pm
yep, many years ago the back to the future 2 set burned down. it was in the news
February 18, 2014 at 8:51 pm
February 18, 2014 at 8:56 pm
Aw gawd… I was already a bit sick and dizzy before watching that game…
February 19, 2014 at 2:26 pm
Wow this game is hilariously inept and terrible! Great video, I literally laughed out loud at numerous parts. You guys make these so much fun!i love watching them, the longer the better. When I look down and see the timer says 26min I get so happy, thanks guys
February 19, 2014 at 5:35 pm
i loved this episode i cant wait for part 2 i wanna see the back to the future ride. i wouldnt mind more episodes like this one, games i never see anywhere else
February 19, 2014 at 8:43 pm
I don’t want to say this but this game Suck’s like you just Fucking walking! and Walking! but at last your on E.T Ride and you can’t go on rides tell later you find the way to get Jaws ride(hey do you guys know they don’t have Jaws Ride anymore!!!)
February 20, 2014 at 2:29 am
I can’t believe this was developed as a Gamecube game. It looks just like a Nintendo 64 game, and probably an early one at that.
February 20, 2014 at 11:40 am
No disrespect, but RTFM…
February 20, 2014 at 3:53 pm
This one video per week thing is killing me. I need more Cinemassacre! What happened to BS Man? What happened to Mike’s Game Glitches? I’m not complaining but I’m a huge fan and I would like to see more than one vid per week.
February 20, 2014 at 6:50 pm
You guys should play New
Super Mario Bros
February 21, 2014 at 7:31 am
It’s like the old controls from the original Resident Evil game, and Woody Woodpecker is your antagonist… Thanks for the video! Can’t wait to see what is (or isn’t…) in store!
February 21, 2014 at 12:20 pm
Well seeing the Jaws game reminded me that Sharknado 2 is coming out this summer 🙂
February 21, 2014 at 12:37 pm
Mike: “Well, at least we got to look at that..instead of having to stand in a line.” James: “HAHAHA”
February 21, 2014 at 2:27 pm
Wait, this was made by Kemco? The same company that amde Birthday Blowout!?
February 21, 2014 at 7:54 pm
This game is begging for a proper AVGN episode. Like a long-ass special akin to Action 52.
February 22, 2014 at 6:13 pm
Mike, I noticed that you use the Gamecube version of a lot of multiplatform games for these videos. Was that your console of choice back in the early 2000’s?
February 22, 2014 at 6:18 pm
Great show guys. Really enjoyed it!
February 23, 2014 at 10:00 am
I might be late with this but it kind of reminds me of a 3d version of “Adventures in the Magic Kingdom” which I’m sure we all spent time playing on the NES as kids. Well, atleast us mid 80s-early 90s people that is.
February 23, 2014 at 11:14 am
When is Part 2 coming out? I need to see that!
February 23, 2014 at 2:05 pm
Forget part 2, how about a new AVGN video?
February 23, 2014 at 5:35 pm
Temporary hiatus, the movie is almost finished though – can’t wait to see that
February 23, 2014 at 1:58 pm
My God Mike. Can you be any more of a whinny bitch? I know its frustrating with the controls and playability of some games but do you have to whine like a damn child EVERY time you fuck up and blame it on the controls? They are what they are, adapt, and learn from it. Lil bitch.
February 23, 2014 at 5:33 pm
I am going to have to wait until Monday night to watch part 2, but I am just so excited for it! This has been such a funny one
February 23, 2014 at 10:18 pm
This is like seriously the worst game i have ever seen you play. This should have been a AVGN episode.
March 11, 2014 at 8:28 pm
mike you fucked up once again i noticed in this video when your fighting jaws mike says get him hes on the starboard side well no look again the left side is port side how can you pick the game apart but what you guys say is just as fucked up im watching you fuckers!!!
March 13, 2014 at 10:30 pm
Um. Was anyone else kind of frustrated watching them play Jaws? I felt like when there was only 1 part of the boat left (meaning that Jaws’ attack would 100% come there) they chased him around and made it more difficult. My gaming senses were like “What are you doing Mike! Stop chasing him!”
November 17, 2014 at 3:12 pm
That sounds like it was hilarious
