It’s 5am here in England!
February 10, 2014 at 12:54 am
Just got up for work:)Now I have something to watch while eating breakfast.
February 10, 2014 at 1:08 pm
Nice one. Still want to see you guys try Contra again.
February 10, 2014 at 7:52 pm
Yeah, you’re five hours ahead of the east coast where they make these and they post at midnight
February 10, 2014 at 12:18 am
YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS TO COMPLY.
February 10, 2014 at 12:21 am
What you guys think about Batman.. I mean..Micheal Keaton, playing the bad guy in Robocop? HAHA!
February 10, 2014 at 12:31 am
Holy shit I cant believe you picked this one! I just bought this game last month remembering the genesis version from childhood, but oh I was wrong. Genesis was way better! I think most games that were on both platforms tend to be better on sega, but that’s just me, hey I like the blood! BRING BACK TITLE CARDS MIKE PLEASE!!!
February 10, 2014 at 12:50 am
I edit these James & Mike Mondays videos now, so I really don’t have time to do titles cards. I have Robocop Versus The Terminator on Genesis as well. Wasn’t sure there was much of a difference.
February 10, 2014 at 2:32 am
Much like with Mortal Kombat, the Nintendo version has the gore edited out.
February 10, 2014 at 2:33 am
Mike? Will you do a video for Killer Instinc on the Xbox One? A quick review or maybe just telling us what you think of it, Spinal just got added and I was wondering if you would tell us if you liked the game overall.
February 10, 2014 at 12:20 pm
James and Mike, you should do ToeJam and Earl for next Monday (James said he wanted to do it in one of the ‘James and Mike Play Atari’ videos).
February 10, 2014 at 2:14 pm
On the little image where you put an 8 bit graphic of the both of you, it should read, “Mondays” not “Monday’s”.
February 10, 2014 at 2:33 pm
There was also a version for the Sega Master System (I have a copy floating somewhere), which was probably only released in Europe.
February 10, 2014 at 7:43 pm
The genesis version was better.
February 11, 2014 at 1:57 am
I have the Genesis version as well and it is vastly superior to the SNES version. There is blood and gore in the Genesis version and Robocop is easier to control and has a lot more weapons.
February 12, 2014 at 2:33 am
Having spent a great deal of time playing both…they are very different from one another (story is basically the same) gameplay is a little faster, graphics (this one is tricky) Both snes and sega graphics are very different it comes down to which you like best. There is quite a bit more gore in the sega version. I highly suggest checking it out at a later date.
November 3, 2014 at 5:43 am
The Genesis one is much better, actually. It’s bloody, dark, violent, the jumping and overall control is much better, even the music is a hell of a lot more improved.
February 10, 2014 at 1:08 am
You should play the Genesis version. Same concept, but different game as they play to the Genesis’ strengths.
February 10, 2014 at 1:22 am
Great stuff guys!
February 15, 2014 at 11:20 pm
If you want to read a great comic on how robocop and terminator fit together , there was a four issue miniseries back in the day with the same title. Was truly a brilliant story . Takes it all very seriously, one of my favorite comics of all time. Movie worthy. Even If only animated or something. I highly recommend to anyone who’s a fan of either franchise . Can’t recommend enough.
February 10, 2014 at 1:26 am
I have this on Mega Drive. Really fun game!
February 10, 2014 at 1:53 am
You guys need to seriously try out Herzog Zwei on the Genesis on one of these J&MM’s. Competitive, action, giant robot shooters and one of the very first RTS’s to come out on consoles. It’s a rare, unknown gem and I would love to see your reactions on giant robot 1v1, James on Mike action.
February 10, 2014 at 1:57 am
Ahh… I rented this game when I was a kid and I remember it being tough as T-Rex shit. James must be really out of practice of something because I expected him to do much better than he did. Maybe it has something to do with all the time he’s spending on doing VFX work on the film… As badly as we want the film, make sure you take breaks every now and again so you don’t get burnt out! Hell, you can even make a video out of these little game breaks. 😛
February 10, 2014 at 2:26 am
Man what’s up with those annoying 1.35 min that can’t be skipped! WAKE UP NOW SAN DIEGO AND LAS VEGAS is ruining my marathon of AVGN tonight…
February 10, 2014 at 2:30 am
they had comic books on it, i have one i found in a half price books, was written by frank miller, i only have #3. not sure how it starts since i haven’t found the others.
February 10, 2014 at 2:36 am
Pan’s is a Faun not a Minotaur 😉
February 10, 2014 at 2:38 am
You guys need to play Metalwarriors on the SNES! It’s a very good Versus game! It’s still really fun to play even today!
February 10, 2014 at 2:50 am
Robocop vs. terminator is also a comic series. 4 in total, it’s about how robocop is somehow connected to skynet being created. That’s why the resistance sends that girl back at the beginning cut scene. It was a pretty good comic series that I got for a total of 5 dollars haha. Great video!
February 10, 2014 at 3:42 am
Pan is a faun……just thought you should know guys
February 10, 2014 at 4:26 am
That wasn’t a glitch in the first level where you walked through the beam, it was a secret. You can shoot that vent or whatever it is on the roof above the hole for energy or something.
Also, shoot the boxes on the ceiling that drop the “spider bombs”
February 10, 2014 at 4:30 am
james dnt you agree the new robocop should be rated R????
February 10, 2014 at 5:24 am
It would be really neat if you used this game as a springboard for a new series of shorts about the differences between the SNES and Genesis games that got released under the same title but developed by different teams. Games like Robo vs. Term, Alien3, and Aladdin.
February 10, 2014 at 5:47 am
RoboCop would totally win a fight with the Terminator. Robo is heavily armoured, it took a lot of work and jackhammers to disassemble him, and even that didn’t kill him. The Terminator, however, relies heavily on blending in and deception to get the upper hand, and is torn to bits and messed up before being destroyed at the end of each movie.
The reason RoboCop was messed up by police shooting him was because he had already fought with ED-209 (a huge robot armed to the teeth with machine guns and rocket launchers) and had his programming messed up by Dick Jones, he couldn’t fight the police because of his prime directives and had lost his gun anyway. In the second movie, he fought a model of RoboCop designed to be his superior, and still pulled through. In the comics, he takes even more punishment, staying active over long periods of time without maintenance and even losing limbs.
There are only two ways a Terminator would win. The first would be to deceive RoboCop in to a situation where he could be easily destroyed. Not easy, considering RoboCop has various systems to detect voice and body heat, he would tell it was a machine or at the very least, something odd. The second would be to appeal to RoboCop’s humanity and/or exploit his prime directives. Still, Upholding the law and protecting the innocent wouldn’t count against a machine, the terminator would have to be a genuine member of OCP and exploit programming.
February 10, 2014 at 6:02 am
The next Death Battle on Screwattack is going to be Robocop vs Terminator.
February 10, 2014 at 6:16 am
hey mike and james play star fox im a 12 year old boy name Zachary
February 10, 2014 at 6:18 am
Some people claim that Pan is a Faun. I was going to call them out and say he’s a Satyr. Evidently both are right. Faun is what they called them in Roman mythology, and Satyr is from the Greek. Still, I’m surprised that from what I’ve read they kept the name “Pan” given the Roman’s penchant for renaming everything and everyone else.
February 10, 2014 at 6:25 am
Though on further investigation he may have been redubbed Faunus.
hi hope that ghost busters 3
is coming in 2014
February 10, 2014 at 6:55 am
I’ve beat this game when I was a kid, but I played Genesis version though. Really good one!
February 10, 2014 at 8:02 am
The original Robocop became one of my favorite films over time. Kurtwood Smith played one of my all time favorite movie villains. Robocop 2 was a lot different, and not as good, but somehow the campy feel of it worked. It’s entertaining to watch. I just about die whenever I hear ‘YOU SOLD US OUT OFFICER DUFFY!’. LOL!. Robocop 3 was one of THE WORST MOVIES EVER MADE!! Nuff said.
The new one is now 55% on RT. Not looking good. Unfortunate. I’ll probably still see it because it’s Robocop and I’m curious. I hope I like it. I sort of liked the ‘Judge Dredd’ remake. I went in with pretty low expectations, and ended up being surprised. Maybe that is the key with the new Robocop. I just wish Basil Poledouris was alive to do the score. That man was a genius.
February 10, 2014 at 8:06 am
This is great that you guys picked this game up for a video, but i thouht this would be the Genesis version ( the one i played in my childhood ). Super NES version haven’t got the gore and the animation is kinda cartoonish. The Genesis version have blood, cool music and the animation is kinda more fluid, Robocop looks more like in the movie.
February 10, 2014 at 8:07 am
also i forgot about the badass title screen in the Genesis version!
February 10, 2014 at 8:08 am
February 10, 2014 at 8:17 am
HOLY SHIT! I can’t believe Pat Morita was in ‘Karate Dog’. First time I’ve ever heard somebody mention that ‘movie’. Not surprised at the complete lack of praise.
This will scare the shit out of anybody that doesn’t already know, but the production company behind that film, Crystal Sky Pictures’ at one point (and might still) had the rights to make the very first film adaptation of ‘CASTLEVANIA’. They were going to make it with Paul ‘Waste of Space’ Anderson at the helm. WHAT A SHITFEST THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!
Seriously, that company is a threat to our childhoods. If you ever see that a film has ANY connection to Crystal Sky Picture or it’s affiliates, DO NOT SEE IT, AND DO NOT FINANCIALLY SUPPORT IT IN ANY WAY. They are the LJN of the film world. Buying rights to awesome existing art, and making shitty film adaptation for a quick buck. It’s awful.
They also did Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2.
February 10, 2014 at 8:39 am
I love these James and Mike videos. Just two guys shootin the shit and talking games, movies, and random nonsense.
February 10, 2014 at 8:59 am
Awesome video guys! I’ve seen the original RoboCop film and yes it still holds up. That’s why I’m so nervous to go see the new one. It won’t be as good. Keep up the awesome James and Mike Mondays!
February 10, 2014 at 11:02 am
I haven’t watched the entire video yet, but what robocop and terminator has to do with each other is that Robocop was plugged into the computer that became skynet. This is why Skynet became self aware. It’s all explained in the 4 issue comic teamup.
February 10, 2014 at 11:21 am
Thanks for reviewing this game. I remember playing this on the Sega Genesis some twenty years ago, and it seems like the Genesis version was better, but I could be wrong.
The video game is actually based off of a four part mini-series by Frank Miller and Walter Simonson of the same name. It was done for Dark Horse Comics in 1992. Below is the synopsis, as well as the link to comic vine for a look at the covers.
“In the machine-dominated future of 2029, a human rebel gains access to the Skynet computer’s Time Displacement Equipment and sends herself into the past on a desperate mission to kill officer Alex Murphy, a.k.a. RoboCop. But Skynet is onto her plan and dispatches a trio of Terminators to the past as well. The Terminators’ mission: protect RoboCop at all costs. Just what in the heck is going on here!?!”
February 10, 2014 at 11:28 am
I love the new logo!
February 10, 2014 at 11:53 am
The Genesis version is vastly superior to the SNES version. Better graphics, more weapon upgrades, different levels, gore, no stupid rolling barrels etc.
Genesis does what Nintendon’t!
February 10, 2014 at 11:56 am
James & Mike, I think it’d be cool if you gave the games a grade at the end. Like for this game, maybe James gives it a 7/10 and Mike gives it a 6/10 – you’d have like a rate for the game.
February 10, 2014 at 12:13 pm
Keep playing it if you want.. people enjoy continued series or playthroughs 🙂
February 10, 2014 at 12:28 pm
The Game was based on the successful dark horse comic books. Awesome game regardless!
Actually was way better on Sega!
February 10, 2014 at 12:42 pm
The genesis version is much better. One of my favorite games on the system 🙂 This version is ok
February 10, 2014 at 1:09 pm
I’m going to use cheats and play it on my wii via homebrew.
The enemy bullets must actually be small explosive devices, as there’s no way a bullet traveling that slow could actually cause damage to anyone. Especially not a man completely covered in bulletproof armor, unless the bullets are all hitting that small exposed part of his face. The bullets literally give you enough time to watch them leave the gun, move through the air and then give you the option of letting it hit you, or to simply step out of the way. They’re actually quite a considerate form of death.
February 10, 2014 at 1:11 pm
I’ve never made it past this level and I’ve been trying for years!
February 10, 2014 at 1:33 pm
i kept thinking of Super Mario Bros, like with bowser, he comes back, which was what i was expecting with the terminator. then the shield guys were like boos
February 10, 2014 at 1:43 pm
You guys have got to watch this, trust me its amazing
February 10, 2014 at 2:09 pm
The game is based on the comic book by Frank Miller. It is quite good actually.
What went wrong with the second Robocop movie was that in fact Frank Miller scrypted it in a way and the producers did not liked it because of the violence or something then they took only a few elements of it and made the second and the third movie around it. A few years ago Frank Miller released what would be “the Real Robocop 2 movie” in a series of comic books by Avatar Press. It is awesome!
About this game, I remember playing the SMS version (who ocurred to be the GG version released for SMS here in Brazil).
February 10, 2014 at 2:37 pm
This is one game that’s way better on the Genesis.
February 10, 2014 at 3:16 pm
Speaking of who would win in a fight, Death Battle is doing a Robocop vs. Terminator for their next episode. Not sure when it’s gonna come out, though.
February 10, 2014 at 3:39 pm
If you got this game on the Sega Genesis DEFINITELY play it! It has many settle differences from the SNES version that makes it a much better game in my opinion.
February 10, 2014 at 3:41 pm
You can shoot whilst standing by merely shooting first without moving. When you shoot while moving you turn this feature off.
February 10, 2014 at 5:14 pm
Are you kiding me james, next thing is that you are going to tell us that the new movies looks greater than the old ones. The robocop movies was a huge hit for the old days and had great special efects, not the best but good enough to say that wasn’t look like an actual b movie.Though the purpose to make one movie like that look a litle like a lower budget didn’t hurt that much i believe, and neither of you i believe.
February 10, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Also though the snes version is good, you sould pick up the genesis version because they didn’t cut the violence.Great review people keep on the good work.
February 10, 2014 at 6:19 pm
Great Video guys. Lot of childhood memories from this game. Thank goodness you quit when you did. I recall the difficulty getting significantly more difficult when you start fighting terminators all the time. I remember those 1st 3 levels as the “easy ones”.
The game was fun, but some of the later levels, really made you wanna smash the controller.
February 10, 2014 at 6:40 pm
I may be wrong, but as a child I remember to have played something much better than this on the Genesis, it was gruesome and dark, with terminators everywhere and it was brutally hard. I have this memory on the back of my mind so maybe I’m completely overestimating the quality of the real game I played.
February 10, 2014 at 7:00 pm
Aw man, next time if you guys are feeling it just keep on playing the game. I don’t care how long the video is I just like to keep watching. This was a fun one!
February 10, 2014 at 7:12 pm
What a coincidence! After watching the new Robocob-movie in the cinema an hour ago, I discover a new video about the same topic on cinemassacre. Nice!
February 10, 2014 at 7:41 pm
Love it! You guys should consider doing Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee on PS1!!!
February 10, 2014 at 8:04 pm
I am located in Asia and Robocop 2014 came out 1 week ago here already.. I went for it and what to say.. this one is the kind of movie that U will not feel like re watching it even 10 years later.. Beginning was not bad with a couple thing they changed but… Love the 1 and 2 tot.
February 10, 2014 at 9:04 pm
My brother and me rented this several times for the genesis and beat it. Its not a bad game and looks like snes and the genesis versions were pretty similar.
February 10, 2014 at 9:43 pm
My friend had the original comic book of this back when we were growing up. While putting it back in the bag it got hung on the tape, and the cover ripped. He almost cried. I think the story of it is Robocop fighting an onslaught of Terminators, but it’s been so long I couldn’t swear to it.
BTW, you guys should play a Splatterhouse game. I recommend the 2nd one on Sega Genesis.
February 10, 2014 at 9:55 pm
Looks pretty decent… I’d buy that for a dollar!
I can’t believe we went eight pages without going there…
February 10, 2014 at 10:11 pm
this is the best combination of characters put together and meow
February 10, 2014 at 10:41 pm
The SNES and Genesis ones are about the same, but the Genesis one did have blood in it. They could of done a comparison to both consoles. Always great to watch.
February 10, 2014 at 11:07 pm
Hahah, you guys saw the karate kid!
That game is so deep, you know. One is a machine concealed as a man, the other, a man concealed as a machine…
I kid, that game was, meh… not terrible but not good either. And I predict the next robocop movie to suck… for any fan of the first two movie anyway. I sure hope I’m wrong.
February 10, 2014 at 11:11 pm
God damn this was frustrating to watch. And you guys call yourselves old school gamers? Would make for a much more interesting video if you guys actually made it past the second level. If you’re having serious trouble playing and commentating at the same time then have one person play and the other commentate. Obviously the person playing doesn’t have to be completely mute though. The benefits of having 2 people. I really wanted to see more of the game but you were playing so poorly it almost seemed like you weren’t even trying.
February 11, 2014 at 1:01 am
MegaDrive version is infinitely better. You know, first boss there IS Terminator! There is far less of this annoying platforming shit, it’s more like straight shooter game. MegaDrive one is one of my favourite games of all times, but I can’t stand SNES version though I own them both. Never beat SNES one too.
February 11, 2014 at 1:06 am
I was quite impressed when I saw this one!
You guys should review all the NES robocop games XD (well, maybe the Nerd should)
This version has slight differences with the sega genesis one (it had blood =P )
nice video! thanks for the fun! =)
February 11, 2014 at 2:00 am
There was a comic book called Robocop vs Terminator which I think is what these games were based off. I also can’t believe Hollywood hasn’t jumped on this.
February 11, 2014 at 3:22 am
Interesting game, and solid video.
February 11, 2014 at 9:20 am
Nice Video James And Mike
February 11, 2014 at 12:47 pm
Ahh Ive rymenber playing PC Version 😀 by some Independent developers Park Productions
February 11, 2014 at 1:22 pm
You should play the Saga Genesis version. its better / gore, Gore, GORE!
February 11, 2014 at 2:05 pm
Wow. James I cant believe you missed SO many basic gamer tricks. This really made it look like your gaming skills aren’t up to par. Mike, great video man.
Also, another VS. water ending….. AvP. You are right about these VS. movies. WHO REALLY WON? How crappy for these movies to end.
February 11, 2014 at 8:44 pm
I actually thought the stop motion in the original made ED-209 seem scarier than if using CGI, the way way its movements are kind of weird and jerky. The pig noises it makes after it falls done the stairs are kind of disturbing, though. Regarding who would win between RoboCop and the T-800, it depends on which weapons they get: if RC has the Cobra Assault Cannon ™ then he should win in a single shot, if his normal sidearm, he’s probably screwed. 🙂 Hand to hand or the same guns, it’s a tough call; I’d say it would go to the T-800 as it doesn’t have any fleshy vulnerable parts. I’d love to see them do a RC vs. Terminator movie, but it might be difficult for the two production companies to agree on who should win (even though RC would be the obvious choice, always being the good guy). Same with Godzilla vs. Gamera, even though Gamera would likely be the protagonist, Toho might take exception to their main monster taking the fall. Filming two different endings is a brilliant idea, and would be a good compromise!
February 11, 2014 at 11:27 pm
Sadly, I have to agree with everyone else, the Genesis version was the winner with this game. I owned the Genesis version and this looked really different from level design to the HUD.
You guys should do a VS episode and tell us what which one you think is the better of the two, “I’d buy that for a dollar”
February 11, 2014 at 11:38 pm
Yeah you guys should definitely play the genesis version. Its more like Contra; more guns, different levels, better graphics, better control, better jumping, but like contra you have to beat it in one play, there is no password or save system but it’s still a much better version. Since you own the Genesis version Mike you should try it, I am sure you will agree.
February 12, 2014 at 12:38 am
You guys did something a little different with this one and it worked out great. You guys were straight up chillinnnnnn.
February 12, 2014 at 2:04 am
Cool! So how’s the movie coming along?
February 12, 2014 at 10:22 am
Nice, but you didn´t even try to play this game well. I like your conversations while playing, but if that´s the most interesting part, then it´s not as good as the previous episodes. Maybe you should choose games you´re more interested in, like Contra and stuff?! Dunno, it wasn´t really bad, just too unmotivated imo. Sorry guys.
February 12, 2014 at 12:52 pm
Holy crap, how can you be this bad at video games?
February 12, 2014 at 11:06 pm
Those little gray squares are the lamest-looking powerups I’ve ever seen. They should have had jars of baby food instead.
February 13, 2014 at 5:20 am
one of my favorite games from my childhood was -Mitsume ga Tooru / Three Eyes Story-, hope you guys try it some time, I played it a few weeks ago with my wife, we had a lot of fun.
February 13, 2014 at 5:26 am
let’s see you guys play ‘Darkwing Duck’ it was a little challenging.
February 13, 2014 at 12:57 pm
Please do a video on all the RoboCop movies, like you did for the Terminator and other robo scifi classics! The original first RoboCop especially deserves it.
February 13, 2014 at 1:11 pm
Cool! I’ve never seen this, mainly ’cause I never had a snes as a child. We had a sega genesis. I remember playing this game and I like the graphics better cause they’re darker and the enemies look more like photographs rather than, you know, cartoonish looking. And the layout of the levels was kind of different too. It’d be cool guys if you could make a video making a comparison between the two. Just saying 😉
Greetings from Chile 🙂
February 13, 2014 at 6:02 pm
Probably quite a few people said this maybe but there actually was supposed to be a Terminator-like cameo in Robocop 2 but they left it out from final version. At one scene in police station when Murphy is in lab, they would remove his face and there would have been a terminator-like skull underbeneath it.
February 14, 2014 at 12:30 pm
I always liked the Sega Genesis version of Robocop vs Terminator a lot better. The Snes version is slow, choppy, and you cant jump as higher.
February 14, 2014 at 12:32 pm
The Sega Genesis version of Robocop vs Terminator is a thousand times better. The Snes version is slow, choppy, and most importantly is has no blood. The Sega version is faster, has blood, and surprisingly the sound, and levels are a lot better.
February 15, 2014 at 7:11 pm
You need to up your game & start live streaming this shit. Like the IG crew & machinima team
February 16, 2014 at 3:29 am
Man, I wish you guys had a forum where all the fans could talk and post topics. That would be my one wish for this site
February 16, 2014 at 12:29 pm
Awesome video as always guys! I love Monday’s now! The Robocop vs. Terminator series originally started out as a comic book series, everyone should check it out. they’re still being made today 🙂 Also, the game is way way way better on Saga. I never recommend Saga but definitely in this case!
February 16, 2014 at 6:39 pm
LOL! Just brought this game not too long ago. Good way to talk about it with the new movie that’s out now.
February 18, 2014 at 12:39 pm
Wow, so this game really does exist. My friend told me about it, but I didn’t believe him. It sounded like one of those things that a kid would make up that’s too cool to actually be real. It is though, and it looks pretty fun. Nice video!
February 18, 2014 at 2:58 pm
where’s the fucking blood of genesis version? fuck Snes
February 19, 2014 at 4:17 pm
Some good memories with this one! Two of my favorite franchises combined in one game!
February 19, 2014 at 9:56 pm
hey have you seen the New Robocop Movie I didn’t? I just asking!?
February 20, 2014 at 7:59 pm
What do you feel about ManinasuitCop 2014 James and Mike?
February 21, 2014 at 6:12 am
Film different endings and put them in separate theaters? That’s awesome! You should do a Dracula vs Frankenstein movie like this!
February 21, 2014 at 6:27 am
I remember this one growing up! If you keep going, you wind up in the future. I think the story is based off of some Dark Horse comics. It’s fun watching you guys enjoy a game for the first time. Thanks for the videos, and keep it up!
February 28, 2014 at 11:45 pm
You two may like the death battle video on screw attack Robocop Vs. Terminator
March 3, 2014 at 10:08 am
Guys, i really recommend you two get a hold of comic book “robocop vs. terminator”. It is a masterpiece by any meanings and gives out decent story. Although it should’ve been actually called Robocop vs. Skynet. But still.
May 4, 2014 at 3:14 pm
Awesome man I forgot all about that comic book now I got to go look and if I still have it also DAMN.
March 4, 2014 at 5:24 pm
I had the Genesis version of this. As you might think, that one had blood in the game. I remember there being a code for a lot of extra lives, or even infinite lives, I don’t remember which. I really tore through the game with that cheat.

watch carefully in the video mike is so envious of james right down to the part where as james really tries to play and explore the game its as if hes not doing it fast enough or up to mikes standards he actually holds his lip to keep from talking while james is reviewing right around the 2:40 mark of the video hahahahaha
