Classic Nerd. Just watched the AVGN movie update and this video was just posted…isn’t it nice how things work out sometime? Can’t wait for the movie.

my co-worker’s step-sister made $13234 the previous week. she gets paid on the laptop and moved in a $557000 condo. All she did was get blessed and apply the guide leaked on this web site… http://cpl.pw/OKeIJo

      • January 2, 2014 at 11:43 am

Lol you are so funny! xD I also gained $5123754.1 billion in the previous week just by sitting and doing nothing! Also, I just bought a solid gold ferrari for $15.9b!

      • January 2, 2014 at 6:10 pm

Get blessed! Oh man, spam messages are totally awesome now.

      • greedo

        January 2, 2014 at 7:06 pm

Dear spammer, on behalf of all of James’s fans we sincerely wish that you no longer “bless” us with your presence. Thanks!

Stephen, you are officially my hero. Finally a comment that DESERVES the first post of the thread. I tip my hat to you, sir!

  • Joseph Schultz

    January 2, 2014 at 4:04 am

If this is James making these, I think you should just focus on the editing for the movie, personally. I feel as though these are just turning into filler

    • BrandeX

      January 2, 2014 at 8:28 am

They are filler, some content is better than none. Also I would guess Mike may be making these clip compilations.

    • January 2, 2014 at 10:32 am

I edited all of them in two days, back in October. There’s still a few left.

        oooo burn!

      • greedo

        January 2, 2014 at 7:07 pm

James, you are a god among movie editors. I salute you!

      • Smeghead420

        January 4, 2014 at 8:47 am

Well edited, timed, delivered. You just keep doing whatever it is you James. Can’t wait, good luck man.

      • January 6, 2014 at 8:49 pm

James, I sent Mike a ship named after you, it’s got some rare and there vibrant looks into what is rarely seen: the distant future. You seen it yet? Existence shines, although indirectly. And I have enforced the true way of thinking, elsewhere, so let me know, I’m interested, and stuff.

  • January 2, 2014 at 5:08 am

    First

    • January 3, 2014 at 10:52 pm

First of all, no you aren’t asshat. Secondly, you’re an idiot. Nobody gives a damn if you can post a mindless, pointless comment before someone else. How about actually providing something that adds to the conversation or just not posting anything? Both options are infinitely better than “First.”

      • Lukas Sprehn

        January 5, 2014 at 11:19 am

We just need a Report Abuse or Report Spam button in the comment section, I think. But it should work in a way so that people can’t abuse the button either. That way we can take away all these FIRSTers. Unless James and Mike are perfectly okay with them and don’t mind people getting excited over being first…

    • January 6, 2014 at 8:57 pm

…to all those of you who respond: get with the times, or at least respond interestingly.

  • Flint Fandango

    January 2, 2014 at 6:19 am

Your ideas for those “Top x”-videos are as surprising as entertaining! Keep up the good work!

  • Don Skiver

    January 2, 2014 at 6:59 am

Ahh… Every time I watch that scene with the 2 NES controllers getting hacked up, I cringe. Poor NES controllers… πŸ™

    • January 2, 2014 at 11:44 am

I think he has lot of them like 10 or something but they are packaged in a closet just like he has a lot of AC adapters.

      • Don Skiver

        January 2, 2014 at 10:21 pm

Yeah, I know what you’re saying, but I still cringe when a piece of video game history is destroyed like that. Especially a perfectly functional piece of video game history. πŸ™

      • Lukas Sprehn

        January 5, 2014 at 11:17 am

Don, I am fairly sure that some of the things he destroys are sometimes ruined already. Well, at least today it’s super easy to make molds of that kind of stuff, so maybe he’ll fake it next time by molding a fake plastic replication of a cartridge.

  • James21113

    January 2, 2014 at 7:38 am

LOL Wish i had a beat a game button today. Hell some of these games are tough

    • lance2011

      January 2, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Beat a game button, wear’s the fun?

  • diegowar

    January 2, 2014 at 8:59 am

Haha, I loved that little rant against the people who play games with savestates. I 100% agree that you absolutely CAN’T say that you’ve beaten a game if you’ve used savestates πŸ™‚

  • January 2, 2014 at 11:13 am

Always loved the satire of the Beat-a-Game button. James is saying you don’t truly beat a game unless you play it and play it how it was actually made. Save states take away the hard work you have to do.

  • Travis McNabb

    January 2, 2014 at 11:58 am

The “Beat A Game Button” was fuckin’ hilarious as hell, LMAO! Good stuff. Loved it πŸ™‚

  • January 2, 2014 at 1:14 pm

man buddy why not just pop out a top ten of top tens πŸ˜›

  • lance2011

    January 2, 2014 at 1:15 pm

It’s Nate he pointed out Gyromite as it’s one of the NES games that may have and Famicom to US NES adapter. I you can get an copy with it for under $10 and it’s the right copy you have an way to Famicom games on a US NES at a lower price.

    • KingMike

      January 2, 2014 at 9:42 pm

The problem with Gyromite is that the resellers have caught on to that. If you find a copy for like a $1 at this point it’s less likely to have the converter.

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:15 am

Wow, that sounds like an awesome thing to have. And it doesn’t even cost that much or…?

  • January 2, 2014 at 1:32 pm

It’s a shame about Gyromite… it is actually quite fun so long as you don’t use ROB. Back in the day, we used a HOB instead (Human Operating buddy) which made it a great two player co-op game.

  • jasonjrf

    January 2, 2014 at 2:36 pm

The Gyromite controller was soo epic

  • itscmillertime

    January 2, 2014 at 5:12 pm

I wish I could use save states to beat the Angry Video Game Nerd Video Game. I beat it on “Normal” but the other difficulties are impossible! I guess I can always try and beat it on easy…

  • January 2, 2014 at 6:14 pm

The Gyromite Controller should have been #1, handily. Because you actually put it together and actually improves the game.

  • January 2, 2014 at 6:47 pm

Nerd, I love your videos watch by Brazil. And I wanted took a rewiew about Hong Kong 97. This game is well known here in Brazil and wanted to see your opinion about the game. If read, thanks. If you make a rewiew, I can not thank you enough.
PS If you are writing something is wrong because I’m using Google Translatorο»Ώ

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:14 am

Is Hong Kong 97 only available for the Super Famicom? Also, is it a particularly bad game? Or a good one?

      • KingMike

        January 6, 2014 at 12:08 am

Look it up on youtube. It’s an unlicensed Space Invaders like shooting game that was probably made in about 10 minutes.
Everything is wrong with it. The graphics are JPEGs someone download from the Internet, the intro is a solicitation from the developer to buy and sell more unlicensed games, the gameplay incredibly simplistic, the music is a 3-second voice that loops forever.

    Yes a new top 5

Publish this video on YouTube so I can download it!

    • Ivan187

      January 2, 2014 at 9:35 pm

Actually, I’ve never watched an AVGN clip collection in the other YouTube channel. πŸ˜•

But, I can download it now. πŸ™‚

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:09 am

It was actually released on YouTube before it was released on the site, you just had to go onto his channel and look πŸ™‚ Here you go, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xQbyCxp-fM

  • Night-X

    January 2, 2014 at 9:33 pm

Top 5 now. What happen got sick of Top 10 lately.

  • KingMike

    January 2, 2014 at 9:37 pm

There were a couple first-person shooters on the Virtual Boy.
But one was only released in Japan (Mansion on Insmouse, though a proto was found in Acclaim’s bankrputcy liquation, leaving us wondering if they planned to release it in the US) and the other unreleased anywhere (Faceball, a port of the Game Boy and Super Nintendo game, probably notable as the only multiplayer FPS on both consoles).

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:11 am

I hope that James can somehow obtain the Japanese version of Mansion on Insmouse and a Japanese Virtual Boy. It would be awesome to see the unreleased Faceball thing too… The latter will probably never happen, but we’re allowed to dream πŸ™‚

      • KingMike

        January 6, 2014 at 12:15 am

A guy got a proto of Faceball and released the ROM (though it was Japanese, so it had the Japanese name Niko-chan Battle), so I’m sure it’d be possible for someone to make James a cart if he ever wanted to review it.

  • January 2, 2014 at 9:38 pm

I think Number 5 was cut off early, since it didn’t even show the actual idea you had.

    • January 3, 2014 at 9:38 pm

I think having a FPS on the Virtual Boy was his idea.

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:13 am

Huh? It showed perfectly fine what the idea was. Or do you mean that you’d rather have watched the part where the Nerd grows tired of using the Beat A Game button? Or are you refering to the Number 5, as in the Virtual Boy thingy? Because the ingenious idea he had in there was FPS games for it. That was the idea.

  • January 2, 2014 at 11:25 pm

I’m extremely glad the advertisement before the videos changed. As fun as it was watching that “Turkish Airlines” commercial with Kobe Bryant traveling around the world in green screen with that soccer player 10 times (w/o being able to skip), am happy to see the much shorter Tank MMO commercial.

  • dave berg

    January 3, 2014 at 1:42 am

but does the “beat-a-game” work on cheetahmen?

  • net_rogue

    January 3, 2014 at 1:44 am

James, I love the top 5’s/10’s etc. Keep it up! We are fans ’cause we’re all nostalgic at heart. We all know how much we love to revisit our favorite AVGN episodes, so it’s great to casuallly relive our favorite moments from all of them. Cheers!

  • Smeghead420

    January 3, 2014 at 3:25 pm

I really don’t get the first one (#5).

    • Lukas Sprehn

      January 5, 2014 at 11:08 am

You mean the one about VirtualBoy? The ingenious idea in the first one was that they should have made first person shooter games for it, like Doom.

  • blazerstrike

    January 4, 2014 at 2:53 am

    LOL beat a game button… πŸ˜›

  • January 4, 2014 at 3:21 am

    You know what’s BULLSH**?
    This kind of Video player…
Looks like I have to wait ’til you upload this on youtube. πŸ™

  • January 4, 2014 at 7:24 pm

Great videos AVGN, you are an inspiration to me with your videos and I started a video mini-series on my Youtube called “Epic Movie Battles”. http://www.youtube.com/user/mf2385

  • January 5, 2014 at 3:21 pm

On a related note, thinkgeek.com has made an NES controller into an Iphone case, I have one and I love it. Just seems like something the nerd would need to have!

  • January 5, 2014 at 4:55 pm

Bad cut, out of context – it makes no sense

  • January 6, 2014 at 2:22 am

haha nice one… the beat a game button is similiar to the white tanooki suit! πŸ™‚

Somebody probably mentioned this already, but the “Beer droid” should at least have gotten an honorary mention. I love that “rusty hunk of junk”. Besides, when seeing it for the first time I wondered if the Beat-A-Game-button is real or just an ironic statement. p.s.: How about Top 5 Nerd-Brawls ?

  • skwij

    January 10, 2014 at 2:13 am

Original NES controllers had 4 beat a game buttons and a D-pad! Thanks for the video!

  • January 19, 2014 at 6:06 am

    Gyromite controller for #1. Seriously.

My Atari 2600 works on an HD TV from 2009! All I have to do is plug it in to the antenna input, and manually change the channel to 3 with the remote which doesn’t work very well, (becuase I don’t have channel 3) and turn it on! I wonder how much longer TVs will even HAVE antenna inputs…

  • May 28, 2014 at 9:13 pm

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL! I NEED THE BEAT A GAME BOTTON REAAAAAAAAALY!

  • VindictiveV

    June 13, 2014 at 3:10 am

Would the Gyromite controller work in real life, or no?

  • BagelMaster5000

    June 16, 2014 at 12:57 pm

I’m legitimately wondering if the beat the game button works.

  • KingMike

    August 10, 2014 at 11:32 pm

    WTF am I seeing?
Did someone actually write a Beat-A-Game card for a GBA game supporting that e-Reader thing?
