Really enjoying these..seeing as I’ve watched like every avgn episode probably 10+times over the past 3-4 years, always a nice trip down memory lane and I love digging into my head and think of which one will be listed next.

I’ve the same problems with the Tintin SNES games.
Both of them of terrible jump landing platform. It was ‘i got it, i got it’ and i miss a platform. WTF!

  • December 5, 2013 at 9:37 am

The waterfall with logs reminds me the Game Gear version of Sonic The hedgehog

I’m not bragging, but i can totally make that jump in Ninja turtles every time lol

The first TMNT’s jumping mechanics take a while to get used to. Once you get the feel down the jumps are all really easy.

There is an auto playing ad with audio below the video player that is going to make me turn on adblocker. It was showing the “Cepacol” drug.

This is probably off topic but is there any chance you guys might do another chronologically confused episode again? I love those episodes especially the first one you did about Final Fantasy and the movies. They’re what got me into watching AVGN in the first place.

I didn’t find this Dick Tracy jump SO hard, but maybe that was beacuse I knew (thanks to James) the clue is reacheable from ground.

Also what about Simon’s Quest and McKids jumps? 😉

    December 5, 2013 at 2:03 pm

I was actually expecting terminator 2 on NES to pop up on the list. 🙂

What about a “top 10 side characters”? (like the Joker, Shit Pickle, R.O.B., Lloyd Kaufman…)

I just had an idea of another Terrbile Top 1: Top 1 games where it’s almost impossible to leave the store:

    #1 Ghostbusters for Atari

The TMNT jump is actually very easy… just tap the button once very lightly, and the turtle just barely doesn’t his the platform above.

I think the biggest problem with Ninja Gaiden is its jumps.

That part there has never ending respawning birds too.

  • GrahfMetal

    December 5, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Nice. I actually thought #10 (Action 52) was going to be #1

Good countdown, but it forgot the jump in the final stage of Terminator 2 on NES, the one with the fireball coming up.

  • December 5, 2013 at 6:19 pm

In TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES you have to slightly press on the jump button. It will do a small jump.

I beat Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 with no codes or anything..there is a certain way you have to approach the jumps, but for 3, I never could finish it without help, that’s a hard motherfucker.

I thought for sure you were going to put Wizard of Oz as #1

    • Kuuenbu

      December 5, 2013 at 10:43 pm

I was thinking the same thing. Why isn’t it in here?

  • greedo

    December 5, 2013 at 8:15 pm

Hey James, did you ever finish Ninja Gaiden? Asking for a friend.

  • bob doluce

    December 5, 2013 at 8:48 pm

i guess james is running out of things to do nerd related so hes popping out all these filler videos. what a shame. not even his newish stuff is remotely funny anymore. and what happend to the avgn movie? was it just a hoax? a lie?

  • December 5, 2013 at 9:35 pm

2 of the hardest games i have beaten back in the day…. ninja gaiden, and tmnt…

    • December 5, 2013 at 9:40 pm

to beat tmnt you have to get a special weapon i belive in level 3, and you have to keep it until you get to shreder… use m.angelo to keep the weapon because its the worst turtle… useless… but she is the one who’s gonna kill him at the end.. the regular weapons are useless vs him..

      • December 5, 2013 at 9:43 pm

ninja gaiden dont remember how i did it (was about 20 years ago lol).. just know i did…

    December 5, 2013 at 9:45 pm

Oh god that jump in TMNT. What a bunch of shit. Fuck these jumps. Yo noid has some bad jumps too. This kind of shit just makes my piss boil!

    • Kuuenbu

      December 5, 2013 at 10:45 pm

He should have used the one you just walk over, just for shits.

    • December 6, 2013 at 11:08 am

Slightly press the jump button to make a small jump. It’s WAY easier.

  • December 5, 2013 at 11:22 pm

Congrats, you’re a shitty clip show.

  • December 5, 2013 at 11:40 pm

I guessed Bart vs. The World would be on there, because I personally know how fucking bad those jumps are. But I was shocked that Kid Kool or Wizard of Oz didn’t make the list.

  • myzooclass

    December 6, 2013 at 12:59 am

What About the Wizard of Oz on SNES???

  • medicinerad

    December 6, 2013 at 7:12 am

    hoppa, då!!

  • MisterCerberus

    December 6, 2013 at 9:08 am

Huh. I was totally expecting the lily pad jump from Frankenstein to be the number 1, and it didn’t even make the list.

    • Starry

      December 7, 2013 at 9:48 pm

Yeah I would have rather seen that than the Lester the Unlikely one. I played that Lester the Unlikely (on Emulator, mind you) and I did the jump just fine. Of course it could be different on SNES, but still, it can’t be too bad, right?

  • pleasetakeabow

    December 6, 2013 at 11:10 pm

It would be so amazing if the Nerd could somehow track down the programmers of any of these games and interview them to get them to comment on the jumps.

    • Starry

      December 7, 2013 at 11:43 pm

Or at least the ones that are alive. I bet in 30 years some have died 🙁

  • December 7, 2013 at 1:05 am

    Jumping is a bitch

  • Ace

    December 7, 2013 at 3:50 am

    Your Mother!

  • December 7, 2013 at 6:12 am

Who else is legitimately surprised that the TMNT jump where he just walked over it wasn’t number one? Or I guess that doesn’t count as a jump.

  • Starry

    December 7, 2013 at 9:42 pm

That Lester the Unlikely jump isn’t so bad. You just gotta make sure you don’t get the rock too close to the wall. I got it on my first try. Beginner’s luck, I guess, but I didn’t push the rock as far as James did. So yeah that’s how you do it.

    December 8, 2013 at 4:59 am

I forgot about that crap from Bart vs. the World. Grr…
I have a friend that was wrecked by the difficulty of Ninja Gaiden. That was the first game that he had, and when he couldn’t make any headway because it’s so damned hard, he said “to Hell with it.” and never got into video games…

  • Aaron1375

    December 9, 2013 at 1:02 am

Yes, all who have played the first Ninja Gaiden game respect and hate that section!

  • December 10, 2013 at 1:58 am

Oh god, those Ninja Gaiden jumps…..still give me nightmares. Sad thing is, I know people who can beat the game without attacking anything or using special weapons at all (except on bosses)………in under 20 minutes.

  • December 15, 2013 at 10:52 pm

the glitch to make the ninja gaiden is actually fairly easy to trigger. If you stand forward enough that his spawn point is on the screen, but back far enough that he can still walk off of the screen, than it will happen just about every time.

Fuck the old simpsons home games. Akklaim released some of the worst garbage to ever grace the 8 and 16 bit eras. Those games are worst than almost every ljn release.
