Y’know, as ridiculous a monster as the Mummy might be, he’s sure wracked himself up a higher body count in these movies than the other Universal monsters.

awesome. once again, you never cease to impress me James. I’m starting to wonder if the rest of the mummy sequels will follow this pattern of the Karloff Mummy being a mindless killer or as I like to call it “the rinse and repeat pattern of sequels”. in my opinion, when a series of films becomes too similar, it gets increasingly harder to have something to talk about. one sequel of movies I hope James does talk about is the Friday The 13th series. it’s the only slasher series that most of us hoped he talk about in the last sequel-a-thon, and it’s one of the few iconic slasher series that James hasn’t looked into in great depth.

  • October 3, 2013 at 11:46 am

speaking of sequels, a direct to video sequel known as Curse Of Chucky came out this year. and to my surprise, it got great reviews. most horror fans have called it one of the best direct to video movies ever made. which is cool because the only decetn horror film to come out in theaters this year was You’re Next and maybe Texas Chainsaw 3D (it’s stupid, but it’s entertaining and it was after all a sequel instead of a remake). Friday The 13th Part 2 is moving forward, but aside from that, I personally feel like horror films in the past few years have slowly declined in originality, creativity, and quality.

one last thing I should mention for today, the director of The Blair Witch Project is making a new film here in Frederick, Maryland called Maulers. apparently, he was looking into filming at the Frederick Town Mall which is 1 block away from where I live. the idea of his new, *cough* horror movie, I felt was kind of dumb. his track record of films he’s made is also, in my opinion, is really not that impressive. The Blair Witch Project, Altered, Seventh Moon, & Lovely Molly. so, as a horror fan myself I find it both rather cool and a little annoying at the same time that they’re making a horror film a few blocks from where I live.

    Mummies aren’t very scary.
They’re like zombies except they are all covered up and they don’t want to eat you.

Ok, I have to say it, this is my all time favorite internet show!!
Um, I would like to point out one thing, I really miss the old intro, the one with
that funky music, and James is saying “word to your mummy” that was, hands
down, the best intro to any show that has ever been or will ever be, IMO!

YEAH!!!))) Special Safety Fire, that’s hilarious)) and that 70s scene is great…I also remembered you Anger Management Tape and all the things you said about the mummy being slow (“at your own pace”). And those words reminded me the scenes from this very movie!

Wow, so cheap, uninspired sequels go all the back to the good ole days, eh? That’s… good? I guess? Well, good to know, in any case. Still, as you said, the movie looks fun, and gives horror fans what they want. 🙂

      October 14, 2013 at 3:43 pm

Oh, and the comment about the movie taking place in the 70s was great. I guess they didn’t take that into account, haha.

Where is that two-headed zombie in the opening from? I’ve seen it in the opening of other Monster Madness episodes.
