First Again! haha Great VIdeo you guys!
July 7, 2013 at 1:07 am
June 17, 2013 at 9:48 pm
Fuckin’ second…Great work as usual!
June 18, 2013 at 5:41 pm
This first and second shit is sooo lame. Do you really think James and Mike want to see this? “Great work” and “great video” is fine and that’s what they want to see and other thoughts about it, but just think next time any of you say first and second they don’t like that. Is that what you want? Everybody else- when we see people doing this lame ass first and second shit we can all say to ourselves there goes two people that enjoy upsetting James and Mike.
June 18, 2013 at 8:29 pm
Im sure they really wouldnt get mad about it. The fact that your getting so upset about it and actually taking the time to post and put down others for posting a comment is pretty fucking lame in itself. Layoff get a new hobby.
June 18, 2013 at 8:39 pm
And how the fuck do you know what Mike and James want or like??? Are you there buddy? No I think not your just some entitled idiot on the internet who knows better then everyone else. I mean could you kiss Mike and James ass any harder? “OMG dont post a comment they wont like how dare you” Seriously get of the internet you dont contribute anything.
June 19, 2013 at 2:19 am
You’re also taking the time to insult someone in two comments, Fleshwhacker. The “First” shit is lame as fuck, get over it.
June 19, 2013 at 6:40 am
Firstly, I really don’t understand the first and second thing either. When I was a wee lad, me brothers used to make me race Tipper, the family dog, in an ice sled race. If I came in second, they would hit me in the knee with a sock full of coins and say “I guess the Dog’s better than YOU!”. If I came in first, they’d hit me in the back with ice balls and say “He’s just a DOG! Why would you do that?!”. But that’s younger siblings for you. And honestly, James and Mike probably have better things to do than meticulously analyze the first and second postings to their vids (at least that’s what I hope). Who’s to say what James and Mike are thinking? Not me. I’m not the Highlander. I haven’t been in any epic battles, I haven’t had to fight immortals to the decapitation. I didn’t get the grand prize of being able to read the minds of all people all at once (which, in my opinion is a shitty prize). But MOST importantly, I never got to hang out with Sean Connery when he was in his Spaniard-Egyptian-Japanese sword master phase, which I think is the real crime. But I’m getting off topic. The point is that…well…there is no point. If I threw in my two cents (which I’m too broke to have), There is no point in arguing this one way or the other. James and Make go out of their way to make videos for you, the cinemassacre audience. Just be glad they go to all that trouble of filming, editing and producing these mini-movies. Because, if they wern’t here in the first place, none of us would be arguing. Oh and Higlander is awesome. Just throwing that out there.
June 19, 2013 at 8:56 pm
I think its a testament of how good the videos are on a regular basis that someone would even want to post first or second…….. It shows how popular the website is.
June 23, 2013 at 1:08 am
I just got off Skype with them, and, uh, yeah, they don’t give a fuck.
June 24, 2013 at 10:12 pm
Someone’s mad that they didn’t get top comment.
July 7, 2013 at 4:35 am
They prolly dont give a crap, and the fact that you’re commenting on it, means you do, so whats the problem? I don’t see anything wrong, i think it shows his detication to the video, and the Nerd. That he came here asap instead of waiting. I applaud him to be honest, if i saw a new AVGN or James and Mike Play or AVGN episode, i’d be like I’ll watch it in 5, but the fact that he rushed over and clicked the video maybe 10 seconds or whatever after it was published, shows commitment, Kudos to him. And shut up about talking about what they’d like or not, you don’t, but not everybody is like you
June 17, 2013 at 10:10 pm
June 17, 2013 at 10:11 pm
this is gonna be a good 1
June 17, 2013 at 10:18 pm
You should play a flash game called Cat Mario
June 18, 2013 at 7:09 am
I’ve tried that game. That is fucking hard (if you don’t know what you’re doing)!
Awesome video as always. You should check out Super Mario Crossover, where it’s Super Mario Bros but you can play different characters from other Nintendo games like Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Blaster Master, Castlevania, Metroid, and a bunch of other games.
June 17, 2013 at 10:41 pm
Nice video guys!
June 17, 2013 at 11:05 pm
Please introduce link stink into another video. So funny
June 17, 2013 at 11:13 pm
The Mario game actually looks pretty nice. The Zelda-Mario one… not so much.
June 17, 2013 at 11:48 pm
I gotta say guys this James and Mike Plays series is awesome! This is what people want to see, just a guy sitting on a couch with his friend playing NES. No special effects, no fake turds, no bullshit. The old AVGN used to kind of be like that, just the nerd and his NES and bitching about the game. I’d say AVGN is more of a “childish” kind of humor for the kids that like the swearing and pooping on the games. This for the adults who want the real deal, no over the top anger. Just real life NES playing. Who’s with me?
June 17, 2013 at 11:51 pm
You need to do another video with Stink.
June 18, 2013 at 12:58 am
no lie i have most of those game carts they sren’t so bad
June 18, 2013 at 2:06 am
Hey guys, these games aren´t real “homebrew” games, they are just hacks of “Super Mario Bros”. I think these games don`t qualify as “homebrew” because most of the new part are graphics changes only.
June 18, 2013 at 2:32 am
James can you review battle city. It is a 2 player tank game on the famicom if you have the game
June 18, 2013 at 2:56 am
June 18, 2013 at 4:09 am
What happened to the commercials? I love watching your videos but I’m concerned about you not getting any money to do more of them.
June 18, 2013 at 6:38 am
good job guys. also, i dig the title screen animation for these. looks good. guessing that was mike?
June 18, 2013 at 6:43 am
omfg….ANOTHER VID!? That’s so fucking awesome! You just made my night. I love watching you guys play these games. Though, what I *REALLY* want to see you guys play are some translated reproduction games. Games such as “Sweet Home” or something. That would rule.
June 18, 2013 at 7:16 am
Mike just yelled “What?” after dying on the Mario game and then they switch over to the Zelda game. He was probably like “Screw this. Next game.” Funny.
June 18, 2013 at 8:05 am
I actually prefer this kind of videos. They are more spontaneous and funny, they make you feel like you are there, playing NES with your friends.
June 18, 2013 at 9:01 am
do you guy have anything to do with the nes club documentery going on right now?
if not cheeck it out
June 18, 2013 at 9:30 am
Where did you find that Mario game? I think I’d like to give it a try.
June 18, 2013 at 11:03 am
June 18, 2013 at 11:11 am
Nicely done gentlemen. Weird but interesting games. And yes, I agree that it is cool to see them on actual Nintendo cartridges.
June 18, 2013 at 12:49 pm
These vids make me so happy! Keep it up guys you rock!
June 18, 2013 at 3:50 pm
Ever heard of Mario Adventure? It’s not just a graphical overhaul, It actually adds NEW enemies, power-ups and abilities, world mechanics, random weather, many bosses, shops, persistent Kuribo Shoes, switchable items (similar to SMW), levels and secrets. I don’t know if a bootleg copy of this exists, but I urge you to play it and have fun discovering all the incredible things this hack provides.
Read more about it here:
June 18, 2013 at 5:25 pm
There are lots of hacked and completely overhauled version of mario and zelda games. You will have to download the game play them through an emulator though.
June 18, 2013 at 5:45 pm
I hope this isn’t against the rules. But I recently made a video myself of: Top Ten NES Rom Hacks/Homebrew games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khVUH4qpf1k
June 18, 2013 at 6:29 pm
Where the hell do you guys find these games?
June 18, 2013 at 6:59 pm
Loved the video! James was in the New York Times today:
June 18, 2013 at 7:13 pm
Yes! Mike had mentioned Shadows of Link that game was awesome!
June 18, 2013 at 7:49 pm
awesome video ! i like watching mike n james play games it almost put some sun in my cloudy days.
June 18, 2013 at 8:49 pm
I hate to nitpick but the title of this video is completely misleading.
Those aren’t homebrew but hacks of SMB.
What confuse me more is that the right term “hack” was used on the “MIKE LOOK AT SOME NES HACKS” video… so… dafuq dudes!?
A “Hack” consist of picking a ROM, reverse-engineer it and inject code or data.
A “Homebrew” consist of programming the code from the ground up.
Those 2 games are “Hacks” of SMB…
… but “Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril” is a homebrew!
June 18, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Love the new content. Are you guys going to play the new D & D Chronicles of Mystara remake? I’ve seen a review for it and it seems cool.
June 19, 2013 at 3:26 am
YO I wanna make a zelda game where you are on a quest to save Zelda except you have to travel through Pokemon land and kill all sorts of pokemon with your sword as Link.
June 19, 2013 at 5:11 am
love james e mike play great work guys
June 19, 2013 at 10:48 am
I don’t feel like browsing through all these comments, but what is Mario Lost levels about?
June 19, 2013 at 10:50 am
Whats up with Mario Lost levels? I have that game for SNES on the Mario allstars game
June 19, 2013 at 3:51 pm
I thought it was common geek knoweldge, but Lost Levels is the original Super Mario Bros. 2 – It’s basically just Super Mario Bros. but A LOT harder. Seriously, too hard for me. That’s why it didn’t come to the USA until way the SNES Collection, and we got the Mario 2 that we got instead (much better IMO)
June 19, 2013 at 2:12 pm
You guys should check out Blaster Master Super Mario Bros http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpaQhhH4TV4
June 19, 2013 at 5:12 pm
I wish that zelda cover was the cover for the new zelda wii u game that comes out in idk how many years from now lol.
P.S. I knew exactly what song in N64 Mario was, the water maps. My favorite one was the map with the huge ship and the eel.
June 19, 2013 at 7:25 pm
You guys should totally do a James and Mike Play for “I wanna be the guy”, or an AVGN version. I’d love to see The Nerd’s rage on that game.
June 19, 2013 at 10:26 pm
The Mario one looked alright, like they tried to do some different things and such, but the Zelda one was a bit lame. They should have at least tried to change the music.
June 19, 2013 at 11:13 pm
Hey James, did you ever hear of a game called Tonic Trouble its for the N64 take a look at it. I think you might be able to review a game like that.
June 20, 2013 at 2:03 am
great video guys!!! mario looks wicked!!! but the zelda one with the bad movement looks terrible!!! i laughed so much since i was a product of the 80s!!!
June 20, 2013 at 4:25 am
Nice video. The Mario game looks good but the Zelda’d Mario game has issues. I hope you do a video about those other Zelda games.
June 20, 2013 at 6:43 pm
James, I have thought about you and I think you are very tired due to all of the work and personal life. Dont make these lets play videos unless you are really going to have fun, drink a few beers or less perhaps; just thought the last now. Equally, take a break, finish the group Atari playing and let Mike post more videos if he has the time and isnt working on something else.
June 20, 2013 at 6:45 pm
Better yet, add something about what you are eating while playing the games and about what you are drinking, I know it might be a hassle on the legal side but I have seen a few doing so without repent or legal.
June 21, 2013 at 7:30 am
Hey, James & Mike! Just thought the other day that it would be interesting to see (either one of) you do a short top list of some sort of NES “clichés” (take for example, an obligatory ice level whose only purpose is to make moving more difficult) or maybe reoccuring design elements that you think are faulty in some way? Or the other way around: maybe there’s some really great ideas and innovations you think deserve a deeper look and appreciation?
Just throwing it out there.
June 22, 2013 at 4:44 am
I’m really partial to Mario 2. I think it gets really overlooked but the mechanics were really solid and have survived in some way or another to this day (luigi high jump, for example).
June 22, 2013 at 2:17 pm
cant wait to see how the flick turns out, but i suspect this will be your new job.
June 22, 2013 at 2:22 pm

June 22, 2013 at 9:26 pm
i must be third, hey james i want to have your babies.
June 23, 2013 at 1:09 am
534th! Hells yeah bitch.
June 23, 2013 at 11:31 pm
Anyone else have issues with the player running choppy??? Commercials play fine. Youtube plays fine. But whatever this is (blip?) messes up like CRAZY.
June 27, 2013 at 4:40 am
Where can we get this game, please tell us
June 28, 2013 at 6:22 am
Wait a tic
July 2, 2013 at 7:14 am
Here’s the thing with romhacks, you got a couple of winners, and a whole lot of losers. Most romhacks fucking suck. They are either stupid palette swaps, or they are some stupid sort of sprite orgy with a mish-mash of different sprites from different games thrown together, or they are some kind of fucking masochists wet dream with a difficulty level so high that at no point in playing said romhack are you ever having fun. Every once in a while you run across a legitimately fun, challenging and creative romhack (there’s a couple super metroid romhacks I liked, but I forgot their names).
You guys should do a “James and Mike Play: Super Metroid” and see how quickly you two and plow through the game in one sitting. That would be fucking awesome.
July 10, 2013 at 12:56 am
the song from the underwater stage and n64 was called dire, dire docks
July 22, 2013 at 7:12 pm
“Some people consider Super Mario world as Super Mario 4″ No Mike, I’m sorry. It is. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Oa8z7o5O45E/UQ9QScAwCkI/AAAAAAAAMrg/6laQaYgp4eg/s1600/super_mario_world_bros_4_japanese_b.jpg Says it right on the box and cartridge of the Japanese version.
August 7, 2013 at 6:52 pm
I want to buy the Mario game they played. How can I?
