Snix riff

James / April 27th, 2013

This is the first time I’ve seen one of my own movies riffed on MST3K-style. I said it before, but my younger self is honored. Check it out.

Also here’s the links to all the Snix films that have been released so far.

SNIX (1993)

SNIX: The Return (1996)

SNIX AGAIN (1997)

Three down. Three more to go.

Also, a new AVGN video is coming soon (with special guest!)

As I wait in extreme suspense for my wife to go into labor.

When your wife goes to the hospital, film it and put it on Cinemassacre

James normally don’t involve his fans that much in his personal life, but it would sure be awesome to see a picture or a video of him and/or them with the baby 🙂

That reminds me, James, what are you going to call her?

Yep, I was thinking Samus would both be more orginal and badass at the same time. Seriously, who doesn’t have a game crush on her?

funny parody video even though its poking fun at it.

    • April 28, 2013 at 10:42 am

Haha, Wasn’t trying to insult James. Just having fun poking fun at a home movie. Just remember the idea to riff this film was thrown out by James himself in his video overview of the series he released.

Next game could be Bubba ‘N Stix, I assume ?

The riffing had some really good material, but those cuts were killing me. Also, constantly riffing over the dialouge of the movie just made a jumbled mess. But overall that was a pretty funny video.

And congrats on making a little nerd, James.

Hey, Just wanted to respond to your post. The reason for dialogue being riffed over so much is because of the quality of the material. The way it was shot didn’t have as many dead air openings after lines as you’d look for in a riff. That’s the reason MST3K often picked movies from the 50s where less dialogue was happening between scenes. I’m glad even with the critique you enjoyed what you saw.

Oh, understandably the movie must have been a nightmare to try to riff; it’s a mess in and of itself. You guys did a great job, I just thought it would have flowed a little better if you gave the movie some room to breathe.

And as for the quick cuts showing the movie full screen to splitscreen with your material, they do that in the live Rifftrax too and it bothers me there as well. It almost reminds me of James forgetting to turn the Widescreen setting off/on while filming SNIX. It’s just my personal preference, and I’m just some random guy on the internet so take it how you will.

      • April 29, 2013 at 10:56 pm

Yeah, I made the artistic decision to leave the widescreen/full screen issues in the final video. I figured cropping the video or stretching it to look full screen would just look even worse. I have no problem with any critique when it comes from a quality stand point and not from a trolling for attention.

Awesome! New AVGN! I don’t even know how you find the time in a day for it! You rock, James! I’m also lovin’ the Snix films!

      Doubtful.
But who cares if he did?
      Are you obsessed?

  • April 30, 2013 at 12:31 am

Have you considered making a new installment of Snix to continue the tradition of watching your skills as a filmmaker evolve? Also good luck with the new kid

So, James Rolfe was first who created horror mocumentaries, hontestly.
