as Clifford implied I didnt even know that any one can earn $6658 in a few weeks on the computer. did you look at this web page http://www.g00.me/Work

  • March 26, 2013 at 4:54 pm

Jurassic Park made by ocean used the mouse! atleast the PAL version!

    • genju

      March 26, 2013 at 5:16 pm

NTSC version as well. The FPS parts only IIRC.

      • Sonic500

        March 27, 2013 at 12:18 am

I remember that, when I was a kid I noticed the game said the mouse was usable with the game… but any time I tried it would never work, so I always wondered what it meant.
Never did try the FPS parts of the game with it though.

    • February 22, 2014 at 1:14 pm

The Super Gameboy actually used the mouse in the drawing section.

  • Morgil

    March 26, 2013 at 4:54 pm

Oh yeah, Mario Paint. Always a classic. I remember me and my buddy chris would spend hours drawing crappy looking boobs on it. I still have the game, but i don’t know where the mouse is anymore. Strangely, it do still have the mouse pad, though.

  • March 26, 2013 at 4:55 pm

a list of games that used the mouse:

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Eye of the Beholder
    Cannon Fodder
    Civilization
    Fun and Games
    Jurassic Park
    King Arthur’s World
    Lamborghini American Challenge
    Lemmings 2: The Tribes
    Mario and Wario
    Mario Paint
    Might and Magic III
    Nobunaga’s Ambition
    Populous II
    Shien’s Revenge
    Sim Ant
    Super Game Boy
    Super Noah’s Ark 3D
    Super Solitaire
    Terminator 2: The Arcade Game
    Troddlers
    Utopia
    Vegas Stakes

    • March 26, 2013 at 8:53 pm

      Also, Super Caesar’s Palace

    • Dur

      March 26, 2013 at 10:23 pm

Oh man I remember as a kid trying to see which games my Super Scope worked on… Lamborghini was one of them, I thought it was so cool you could use the gun on a racing game haha. I guess I should’ve tried my mouse too!

      • Pascal

        March 27, 2013 at 7:03 am

That is kinda the same as playing Soul Caliber on Dreamcast using the Fishing Rod xD It works, but it’s so silly

    • March 27, 2013 at 7:10 pm

I own the Fun N’ Games cart and I was wondering if the SNES mouse worked for it (I don’t have the mouse). I figured it did because it’s almost the exact same thing as Mario Paint, without Mario of course. I actually bought it because it’s considered quite a rare cartridge, but it’s cheap because it’s pretty obscure and not in demand. I think I paid like 2 bucks for it.

    • October 19, 2013 at 9:02 pm

I never thought of that! I always noticed the box had slots for TWO mice, and wondered, what aspect of Mario Paint could possible use two mice?

  • KennyM

    March 26, 2013 at 4:58 pm

thank you so much for another great video so fast, this is what the fans love! Any possible name ideas for the baby yet?

  • Morgil

    March 26, 2013 at 5:00 pm

I also had a Player’s Guide for MP, which was basically just a book full of drawings, animations, and sheet music for you to try and imitate and recreate. Mine never looked as good as in the book, though.

  • Morgil

    March 26, 2013 at 5:01 pm

    I still have that book.

BTW, is there a way to edit comment posts so i don’t have to keep double posting?

You’re both very talented artists, in a very traditional sense. Kinda refreshing. Great stuff as always; you just made my Tuesday.

  • March 26, 2013 at 5:08 pm

one of my fav SNES games for sure. cant believe they never recycled this tile, since that seems to be all Nintendo does.

    You’re one talented s.o.b.

  • Mr. Saturn

    March 26, 2013 at 5:45 pm

Always pretty jealous of people who can draw well. Those were pretty great drawings, especially considering the use of the SNES mouse.

  • March 26, 2013 at 5:46 pm

    1. Best Desperado Impression ever. 2. I fucking love you guys, and mario-paint. And this video.

  • March 26, 2013 at 5:48 pm

Wow. Seeing Mike doing his drawings was simply jaw-dropping.

And what a great video overall, the music has been lacking in the latest episodes =)

I would love to hear what both James and Mike think about the remake of Duck Tales and if they could share with their fans some of their memories of the show and the NES-games. Or perhaps even make an entire review of all Disney-games including the Duck families!

  • March 26, 2013 at 5:48 pm

Those drawings are amazing. I especially like the Doom 2 one. Right after Mike said the thing about the best death scream in a game I thought to myself “Impossible Mission” had a great one too. The one you showed was different than the one I remember. I had it for Commodore 64 and the scream sounded like a bad actor screaming. Like that paperboy that drove his bike off a cliff in the movie “Better Off Dead”. The one you showed is better though.

This is the commodore 64 scream:

    March 26, 2013 at 6:23 pm

Wow. Just was opening the site to watch some old stuff and all of the sudden, there is a new video. Mario paint for sure. It already made me laugh bevor i even did click on it. Great video as always. You guys just have the flow. ^^

  • Blue Wizard

    March 26, 2013 at 6:35 pm

I’m afraid to ask how long the drawings took with a shitty mouse. Great job with the drawings though Mike, very impressive.

  • March 26, 2013 at 6:49 pm

Wow. Just wow. Mike, I wish I was half as talented as you are as an artist. God, if I could draw stuff like you, I would just draw all day and do nothing else. Man, I’m just amazed. It’s like pure motherfucking magic to me.

  • stunik101

    March 26, 2013 at 7:11 pm

Mike, your drawings are awesome !!!
    Well done !

  • March 26, 2013 at 7:32 pm

    Excellent video guys.-

  • HighVoltage

    March 26, 2013 at 7:49 pm

Mike you are one talented fucker. Awesome show guys.

  • March 26, 2013 at 8:22 pm

Mario Paint isn’t the only game that uses the mouse. Among others, Doom for SNES can use it.

  • March 26, 2013 at 8:26 pm

God damn you Mike Matei! I’m becoming a bigger fan of yours than James.

    Great drawings!

  • March 26, 2013 at 9:35 pm

HAHA the NES Speed board, this is the modern day version, they make these for PS3 and 360 for $10 what a shitload of fuck

    March 26, 2013 at 10:16 pm

That has to be the best James & Mike Play episode. Mike can really draw. He is so talented.

  • March 26, 2013 at 10:29 pm

that was some darn good art

  • sloth-machine

    March 26, 2013 at 10:32 pm

    Damn Mike, damn. I mean…

    …damn. How did you?…

    …on an SNES mouse?… damn.

    • March 26, 2013 at 11:40 pm

It was hard. I did one drawing a day. Each took about 45 minutes. My hand killed me afterwards.

      • sloth-machine

        March 27, 2013 at 7:47 pm

Nice! I actually envisioned you doing one a day. The end result definitely pays off because that was just awesome. It also reminds me how much I miss the title cards to AVGN, but hey, I know that takes a lot of hard work.

  • March 26, 2013 at 10:37 pm

You can use the mouse on Eye of the Beholder! I think….. I used to have Mario Paint way back in the day. Good times.

  • March 26, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Amazing job on the pics at the end by the way.

  • March 26, 2013 at 10:57 pm

oh man Mike you amaze me, your art is awesome did you take the images you made here and post them to a deviant art page or anything, I would love to save and favorite some of them

  • March 26, 2013 at 10:57 pm

Always enjoying watching both your videos.

  • likalaruku

    March 26, 2013 at 11:37 pm

Never fails. Stick these two in a room together with a video game & a camera, & suddenly they’re both 13 years old again.

  • March 27, 2013 at 12:05 am

If you’re interested, I have the snes fun n games. it’s like a mario paint rip off with a controller. I’d be happy to send it to you 🙂

  • Sonic500

    March 27, 2013 at 12:19 am

VERY NICE video! This was always a favorite as a kid, I remember always loving the music bit and the animation feature too. Never was that good or creative though… Mostly just messed around and always felt dumb when my stuff wouldn’t turn out well :p

  • MotorcityBaller

    March 27, 2013 at 12:28 am

Awesome job Mike, really, your talent shun in this one.

  • KyleJames321

    March 27, 2013 at 1:02 am

I believe you said you have a Japanese SNES in one of your room tour videos. You should try and track down Mario & Wario. It’s actually a very good game that, for whatever reason, never got a release in the US or Europe. Oddly enough, the ENTIRE game is in English.

  • March 27, 2013 at 1:29 am

I remember getting this for Christmas the year it came out. I loved it. I made the Meowmix song, and a cartoon mocking some wiener kid I hated that my mom tried to force me to befriend (it didn’t work out). I believe the show was called “Bums Up Live with TJ the Poopmaster.”

  • SimonBelmont_IV

    March 27, 2013 at 1:46 am

Can someone please tell me who covers the AVGN theme that plays starting from 15:19 in this video?
    Thanks!

  • Aaron Langdon

    March 27, 2013 at 2:35 am

  • retrogamegirl

    March 27, 2013 at 2:49 am

Haha that brings back so many memories! I remember my younger brother(RIP) used to make dirty cartoons on it.

  • goes.2.eleven

    March 27, 2013 at 3:04 am

Love Mario Paint! My brother and I used to use the stamp tool to create Final Fantasy characters (we were RPG nerds) and animate battles with original music scores! So many great memories!
I would also play that coffee break game all the time. Mario Paint is a classic!

  • March 27, 2013 at 3:05 am

Hi Nerd & Mike! Nice videos as always 🙂 Big big fan of you since years ago, but first time posting. I’d be pleased if you can tell me whats the song playing from 7:40 to 8:10? Greetings from Mexico!

    • Prizm

      March 28, 2013 at 8:39 pm

  • mmmfloorpie

    March 27, 2013 at 2:03 pm

    Mike is ultra cool!

And James, the only way to play Civilization and Utopia is with the mouse!

(You can use the standard controller, but the mouse is much easier)!!!

    • mmmfloorpie

      March 27, 2013 at 2:04 pm

Forgot to say, does anyone else remember have to clean the mouse turds out of the SNES mouse? Any dirt on the plastic pad would roll up onto the sensor wheels inside the mouse and you’d have to take it apart every once in a while and clean them off…

Just like with a PC ball mouse!

  • March 27, 2013 at 2:22 pm

    your incredibly talented mike 🙂

  • March 27, 2013 at 2:47 pm

Wow, amazing job on the drawings Mike ! I know what its like trying to draw with a mouse. Its difficult even on a smooth mousepad on a pc, let alone a piece of shit plastic board.

  • March 27, 2013 at 3:07 pm

Excelent video! I knew Mike was a hell of a talented fellow but watching what he can do in a software like this – its just jawdropping for me. Kudos to you man!

Holy hot damn. This is Mike giving a supreme demonstration of why he’s the man. Great job!

  • March 27, 2013 at 9:06 pm

The amazing art you did at the end Mike is exactly why you need to come back to doing title cards for the AVGN episodes. Your art always gave a personal touch of class to the show and made you feel like you were watching a television program. Please Mike, return to doing title cards for the show. I’m sure I’m not the only one who misses your work. : )

  • Jargas

    March 28, 2013 at 6:50 am

Even in Mario Paint, Mike does impressive drawings. Completely self taught or was there any formal training or classes? Either way there’s a lot of natural artistic talent. Miss the AVGN title cards, those were always great too

When I was a kid, we used to make animations where we just came up with creative ways for Mario to die (like having his head torn off by Yoshi). Did anyone else do silly shit like this?

You guys have to make more of these James and Mike play videos. AVGN is great, but seeing authentic reactions with the footage of you guys playing is really cool. Not to mention the funny banter between you two. Also, damn, Mike is a great artist, even with a mouse.

  • An Heroic Hippo

    March 30, 2013 at 7:30 am

You know what’d be great? James & Mike play Turtles in Time! Surely one of the best two player games on the SNES. Come on guys, this one’s a must! Maybe even a two-part episode where you actually beat Splinter?

Hi James, hi Mike, your video is very good. I remember that my brother and me borrowed MARIO PAINT from a friend and it was very rad.

I have an question: On occasion of the start of IRON MAN 3 at 3rd may in theaters, could you make reviews of some Marvel Games that you missed or picked in “How the nerd stole christmas” and/or some crappy Marvel Movies like HOWARD THE DUCK or the 90ies CAPTAIN AMERICA movie? That would be interesting!

  • March 31, 2013 at 2:38 pm

haha, when james is being all sweet and saying “i’m going to put mario on the monkey” and mike just comes and says “shove a clock up the rhinos ass” hah, mike sounds a lot like me which i why i liked this video cause it shows a different side of him not seen in many other episodes.

I find that if a program/game is more advanced in regards to creating something (like creating a character, drawing, etc.) that doesn’t mean the game is any more fun. Sometimes, the simplicity and limitations make it a better experience. When anything is possible with the animation programs that are available today, that’s very cool. But it is still fun to see just how far you can push the limits on an older program. It can be very exciting. I mean, just look at Mike’s work here!

    April 1, 2013 at 11:16 pm

I remember wanting this game so bad when I was a kid. But when I got it, it reminded me that I had no artistic talent to speak of. Luckily through years of therapy, medication, wombat chasing, and beer (lots of beer, I might add), I was able to quell the thought that I had no abilities as an artist…

Then I saw this video. Mike, you motherfucker. You reminded me of those tumultuous years of elementary school art class where the art teacher forced me to stay inside from recess to finish up my art projects because I didn’t replicate Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” in pastel properly. “Short and Quick Strokes!” and “I can still see spots on the construction paper that haven’t been filled in!” “I swear to god, if you don’t finish this, you’ll NEVER be able to go outside and play freeze tag EVER again!” “One more artistic failure and you’re going in the BOX!”…but enough about my life in Wyoming.

In all seriousness though, I’ve grown to like the “James and Mike” series and “Board James” more than the “Nerd”. This may sound like Blasphemy, but it’s true. It reminds me of times when I would be playing games with buddies, just laughing, and having a good time. The Nerd is timeless, but at the same time, how long can that go? I think this is the next inevitable phase in the Cinemassacre game review cycle. And I must admit, I think the change is good.

  • April 2, 2013 at 10:32 am

That thousand-yard stare of concentration on mikes face as he focuses and draws…Keep up the good work, glad this game was finally made by this super creative duo.

I had Wacky World’s, being a Sega kid and all. It was fun but it looks like this game had a lot more. The humor and goofing off was funny in the beginning, but it was really great when Mike started drawing.

I can speak from personal experience, as an artist myself, that it is very very hard to draw with a mouse, compared to your hand, so that is some serious skill here!

How the hell can it be this much fun watching two guys play a painting game??

  • April 12, 2013 at 3:38 pm

This is completely awesome. I’d love to see Mike draw some stuff with Art Alive! on the Genesis. It’s a horribly crappy art package, but I bet he can do wonders even with that.

I Think you missed something kinda important on the titlescreen: if you press on The “O” you can listen to a nice little song called “totaka’s Song” … Nintendo Fans know what i’m Talking about 😉 but anyway, great Video and keep up with the great Work!!

James and Mike are great. I can’t wait to see the movie! My friend and I made a real life gaming sort of idea for Mario Paint for our youtube channel. We were pretty happy with how it came out and we got some solid feed back on it. Here’s the link to it:

I refuse to believe Mike really did those. It must have taken days to do all those.

  • November 7, 2013 at 5:53 am

I was having a totally normal conversation today with someone, and out of fucking nowhere, I remembered Mike saying, “Color in your monkey!” I couldn’t tell them why I was laughing for about 30 seconds.

  • November 8, 2013 at 4:40 am

Nice drawing Mike! can you draw Mighty Morphing Power Rangers?

  • November 21, 2013 at 4:10 pm

Every time I watch this, I am floored at how fucking talented Mike is as an artist. I swear, I would give my left nut just to have 1/10th of his talent. Nice fucking work, Mike!

My brother used to use this to compose in college. Unfortunately the video tapes of his work have all gone bad. =( Also, take the track ball out and clean the roller contacts with an exacto blade. I remember the days of trackball mice. I hated them.

Keep up the great job, James and Mike! Boy do I spend too much time on this website! 😀
