Mike Matei / March 26th, 2013
Mario Paint is also known as 瑪利歐繪圖, マリオペイント, Марио Пэитно
March 26, 2013 at 4:47 pm
First! great job, keep it up.
May 2, 2013 at 6:23 pm
as Clifford implied I didnt even know that any one can earn $6658 in a few weeks on the computer. did you look at this web page http://www.g00.me/Work
March 26, 2013 at 4:54 pm
Jurassic Park made by ocean used the mouse! atleast the PAL version!
March 26, 2013 at 5:16 pm
NTSC version as well. The FPS parts only IIRC.
March 27, 2013 at 12:18 am
I remember that, when I was a kid I noticed the game said the mouse was usable with the game… but any time I tried it would never work, so I always wondered what it meant.
Never did try the FPS parts of the game with it though.
February 22, 2014 at 1:14 pm
The Super Gameboy actually used the mouse in the drawing section.
Oh yeah, Mario Paint. Always a classic. I remember me and my buddy chris would spend hours drawing crappy looking boobs on it. I still have the game, but i don’t know where the mouse is anymore. Strangely, it do still have the mouse pad, though.
March 26, 2013 at 4:55 pm
a list of games that used the mouse:
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Eye of the Beholder
Fun and Games
King Arthur’s World
Lamborghini American Challenge
Lemmings 2: The Tribes
Mario and Wario
Might and Magic III
Super Game Boy
Super Noah’s Ark 3D
Terminator 2: The Arcade Game
March 26, 2013 at 8:53 pm
Also, Super Caesar’s Palace
March 26, 2013 at 10:23 pm
Oh man I remember as a kid trying to see which games my Super Scope worked on… Lamborghini was one of them, I thought it was so cool you could use the gun on a racing game haha. I guess I should’ve tried my mouse too!
March 27, 2013 at 7:03 am
That is kinda the same as playing Soul Caliber on Dreamcast using the Fishing Rod xD It works, but it’s so silly
March 27, 2013 at 7:10 pm
I own the Fun N’ Games cart and I was wondering if the SNES mouse worked for it (I don’t have the mouse). I figured it did because it’s almost the exact same thing as Mario Paint, without Mario of course. I actually bought it because it’s considered quite a rare cartridge, but it’s cheap because it’s pretty obscure and not in demand. I think I paid like 2 bucks for it.
October 19, 2013 at 9:02 pm
I never thought of that! I always noticed the box had slots for TWO mice, and wondered, what aspect of Mario Paint could possible use two mice?
March 26, 2013 at 4:58 pm
thank you so much for another great video so fast, this is what the fans love! Any possible name ideas for the baby yet?
March 26, 2013 at 5:00 pm
I also had a Player’s Guide for MP, which was basically just a book full of drawings, animations, and sheet music for you to try and imitate and recreate. Mine never looked as good as in the book, though.
March 26, 2013 at 5:01 pm
I still have that book.
BTW, is there a way to edit comment posts so i don’t have to keep double posting?
March 26, 2013 at 5:02 pm
You’re both very talented artists, in a very traditional sense. Kinda refreshing. Great stuff as always; you just made my Tuesday.
March 26, 2013 at 5:08 pm
one of my fav SNES games for sure. cant believe they never recycled this tile, since that seems to be all Nintendo does.
March 26, 2013 at 5:17 pm
Awesome job on the drawings mike
Mike those drawings were amazing. About how long per?
March 26, 2013 at 11:39 pm
About 45 minutes usually.
March 27, 2013 at 12:06 am
March 26, 2013 at 5:34 pm
March 26, 2013 at 5:35 pm
Yayyyy, I’ve been looking forward to seeing more of Mike’s drawings.
You’re one talented s.o.b.
March 26, 2013 at 5:45 pm
Always pretty jealous of people who can draw well. Those were pretty great drawings, especially considering the use of the SNES mouse.
March 26, 2013 at 5:46 pm
1. Best Desperado Impression ever. 2. I fucking love you guys, and mario-paint. And this video.
March 26, 2013 at 5:48 pm
Wow. Seeing Mike doing his drawings was simply jaw-dropping.
And what a great video overall, the music has been lacking in the latest episodes =)
I would love to hear what both James and Mike think about the remake of Duck Tales and if they could share with their fans some of their memories of the show and the NES-games. Or perhaps even make an entire review of all Disney-games including the Duck families!
Those drawings are amazing. I especially like the Doom 2 one. Right after Mike said the thing about the best death scream in a game I thought to myself “Impossible Mission” had a great one too. The one you showed was different than the one I remember. I had it for Commodore 64 and the scream sounded like a bad actor screaming. Like that paperboy that drove his bike off a cliff in the movie “Better Off Dead”. The one you showed is better though.
This is the commodore 64 scream:
March 26, 2013 at 6:02 pm
This game was my childhood, big nostalgiagasm. Awesome work by Mike there on the drawings.
March 26, 2013 at 6:23 pm
Wow. Just was opening the site to watch some old stuff and all of the sudden, there is a new video. Mario paint for sure. It already made me laugh bevor i even did click on it. Great video as always. You guys just have the flow. ^^
March 26, 2013 at 6:35 pm
I’m afraid to ask how long the drawings took with a shitty mouse. Great job with the drawings though Mike, very impressive.
March 26, 2013 at 6:49 pm
Wow. Just wow. Mike, I wish I was half as talented as you are as an artist. God, if I could draw stuff like you, I would just draw all day and do nothing else. Man, I’m just amazed. It’s like pure motherfucking magic to me.
March 26, 2013 at 7:11 pm
Mike, your drawings are awesome !!!
Well done !
March 26, 2013 at 7:32 pm
Mike is motherfuckingly good at Mario Paint!
Excellent video guys.-
March 26, 2013 at 7:49 pm
Mike you are one talented fucker. Awesome show guys.
March 26, 2013 at 8:22 pm
Mario Paint isn’t the only game that uses the mouse. Among others, Doom for SNES can use it.
March 26, 2013 at 8:26 pm
God damn you Mike Matei! I’m becoming a bigger fan of yours than James.
March 26, 2013 at 9:35 pm
HAHA the NES Speed board, this is the modern day version, they make these for PS3 and 360 for $10 what a shitload of fuck
March 26, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Mother… fucking… Mike…
You are an awesome artist!
March 26, 2013 at 10:16 pm
That has to be the best James & Mike Play episode. Mike can really draw. He is so talented.
March 26, 2013 at 10:29 pm
that was some darn good art
March 26, 2013 at 10:32 pm
Damn Mike, damn. I mean…
…damn. How did you?…
…on an SNES mouse?… damn.
March 26, 2013 at 11:40 pm
It was hard. I did one drawing a day. Each took about 45 minutes. My hand killed me afterwards.
March 27, 2013 at 7:47 pm
Nice! I actually envisioned you doing one a day. The end result definitely pays off because that was just awesome. It also reminds me how much I miss the title cards to AVGN, but hey, I know that takes a lot of hard work.
March 26, 2013 at 10:37 pm
You can use the mouse on Eye of the Beholder! I think….. I used to have Mario Paint way back in the day. Good times.
March 26, 2013 at 10:47 pm
Amazing job on the pics at the end by the way.
March 26, 2013 at 10:57 pm
oh man Mike you amaze me, your art is awesome did you take the images you made here and post them to a deviant art page or anything, I would love to save and favorite some of them
Always enjoying watching both your videos.
March 26, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Never fails. Stick these two in a room together with a video game & a camera, & suddenly they’re both 13 years old again.
March 27, 2013 at 12:05 am
If you’re interested, I have the snes fun n games. it’s like a mario paint rip off with a controller. I’d be happy to send it to you 🙂
Meaning you use a controller to paint, instead of a mouse.
March 27, 2013 at 12:19 am
VERY NICE video! This was always a favorite as a kid, I remember always loving the music bit and the animation feature too. Never was that good or creative though… Mostly just messed around and always felt dumb when my stuff wouldn’t turn out well :p
March 27, 2013 at 12:28 am
You two were high as FUCK when you made this!!!
March 27, 2013 at 12:33 am
I’m pretty sure you none of you know Mike did all those drawings with a ball mouse. I fucking ball mouse!!!
March 27, 2013 at 12:37 am
Awesome job Mike, really, your talent shun in this one.
March 27, 2013 at 1:02 am
I believe you said you have a Japanese SNES in one of your room tour videos. You should try and track down Mario & Wario. It’s actually a very good game that, for whatever reason, never got a release in the US or Europe. Oddly enough, the ENTIRE game is in English.
March 27, 2013 at 1:29 am
I remember getting this for Christmas the year it came out. I loved it. I made the Meowmix song, and a cartoon mocking some wiener kid I hated that my mom tried to force me to befriend (it didn’t work out). I believe the show was called “Bums Up Live with TJ the Poopmaster.”
March 27, 2013 at 1:46 am
Can someone please tell me who covers the AVGN theme that plays starting from 15:19 in this video?
March 27, 2013 at 4:29 am
I’m glad you asked 🙂 I did it, and the full song can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OgmJzemirU
March 27, 2013 at 11:41 am
Thank you so much! I love this type of music!
March 27, 2013 at 2:35 am
Wow those artworks at the end were amazing, I am loving these lets play type videos and I hope you keep doing them!
March 27, 2013 at 2:43 am
That was an awesome episode guys! I can’t believe how well mike can illustrate using that old nintendo mouse!! I loved it!
March 27, 2013 at 2:49 am
Haha that brings back so many memories! I remember my younger brother(RIP) used to make dirty cartoons on it.
March 27, 2013 at 3:04 am
Love Mario Paint! My brother and I used to use the stamp tool to create Final Fantasy characters (we were RPG nerds) and animate battles with original music scores! So many great memories!
I would also play that coffee break game all the time. Mario Paint is a classic!
March 27, 2013 at 3:05 am
Hi Nerd & Mike! Nice videos as always 🙂 Big big fan of you since years ago, but first time posting. I’d be pleased if you can tell me whats the song playing from 7:40 to 8:10? Greetings from Mexico!
March 28, 2013 at 8:39 pm
It’s one of the tracks from Mario Paint.
March 27, 2013 at 3:58 am
mike you are a fucking beast at drawing on this, holy shit, i can’t even do a smiley face
March 27, 2013 at 4:00 am
I know that you are an amazing artist, but here, you really show your talent! Great job as always! You guys are the best!
Regards from Mexico City
March 27, 2013 at 4:39 am
Omg that was great, the drawings were so good.. Mutherfucker has talent! The ending made me lol. What a treat to see that, thanks.
March 27, 2013 at 6:16 am
I registered just to say those drawings are AMAZING.
March 27, 2013 at 6:39 am
The mighty Speedboard returns 😀
Thanks for the video, great job.
March 27, 2013 at 6:40 am
Mike you are a genius. Thank you for creating all of those images for the fans. That TMNT one was perfect.
March 27, 2013 at 6:57 am
I absolutely LOVE the J&M Play videos. Keep doing them. They’re like a magnifying glass to your childhood.
March 27, 2013 at 7:24 am
Seriously Mike? Awesome job on the drawings. You have so much talent for stuff like that, great!
Keep it up!
March 27, 2013 at 8:35 am
I sent this Picture of AVGN which I created in Mario Paint to the website a few years ago, I was hoping it would have the honour of gracing the fan-art page.
March 27, 2013 at 2:34 pm
that’s amazing! good job!
March 27, 2013 at 7:49 pm
Wow, that’s pretty badass. Nice job!
March 27, 2013 at 8:47 am
hey, you forgot to catch the star in the opening menu 🙁
March 27, 2013 at 9:52 am
That mouse was awesome. I want one for my computer.
March 27, 2013 at 2:03 pm
Mike is ultra cool!
And James, the only way to play Civilization and Utopia is with the mouse!
(You can use the standard controller, but the mouse is much easier)!!!
March 27, 2013 at 2:04 pm
Forgot to say, does anyone else remember have to clean the mouse turds out of the SNES mouse? Any dirt on the plastic pad would roll up onto the sensor wheels inside the mouse and you’d have to take it apart every once in a while and clean them off…
Just like with a PC ball mouse!
March 27, 2013 at 2:22 pm
your incredibly talented mike 🙂
March 27, 2013 at 2:47 pm
Wow, amazing job on the drawings Mike ! I know what its like trying to draw with a mouse. Its difficult even on a smooth mousepad on a pc, let alone a piece of shit plastic board.
March 27, 2013 at 3:07 pm
Excelent video! I knew Mike was a hell of a talented fellow but watching what he can do in a software like this – its just jawdropping for me. Kudos to you man!
March 27, 2013 at 4:43 pm
As usual make my day. You could look all over the web and never find anything as good as these videos.
Great artwork Mike!
March 27, 2013 at 5:21 pm
Mike you are a fucking beast. I bet if you saved some of your drawings to a Mario Paint cart it would bring a fortune at ebay. Would also make an awesome giveaway prize!
March 27, 2013 at 6:25 pm
March 27, 2013 at 6:36 pm
Nice video! Wondering how I can get the whole AVGN theme song that plays at 15:18?
March 27, 2013 at 7:08 pm
damn I wish I could draw like Mike
March 27, 2013 at 8:59 pm
Holy hot damn. This is Mike giving a supreme demonstration of why he’s the man. Great job!
March 27, 2013 at 9:06 pm
The amazing art you did at the end Mike is exactly why you need to come back to doing title cards for the AVGN episodes. Your art always gave a personal touch of class to the show and made you feel like you were watching a television program. Please Mike, return to doing title cards for the show. I’m sure I’m not the only one who misses your work. : )
March 27, 2013 at 10:22 pm
Sick drawing skills Mike !!
March 27, 2013 at 10:32 pm
Excellent video gentlemen.
March 27, 2013 at 10:33 pm
Great video. That is the 1st time I;ve ever heard “stick the clock up the rhinos ass”. Classic!
March 28, 2013 at 6:32 am
I have a feeling James and Mike will like the Jim’ll Paint It page on facebook.
March 28, 2013 at 6:50 am
Even in Mario Paint, Mike does impressive drawings. Completely self taught or was there any formal training or classes? Either way there’s a lot of natural artistic talent. Miss the AVGN title cards, those were always great too
March 28, 2013 at 10:03 am
Worst scream ever in a video game: Robodemons when you die.
March 28, 2013 at 4:57 pm
UHHHHHH! James should review that one. Stupid ColorDreams.
March 28, 2013 at 10:11 am
They need to bring this out or a revamped version for 3DS or Wii U
March 28, 2013 at 3:43 pm
Hey James, I just met Sid Haig, and asked him some questions about Galaxy of Terror, you should check it out!!
March 28, 2013 at 8:08 pm
Thanks for all the videos! I watched this one 3 times already!
“dead guy behind the desk… looks so …. dead” Hilarious!
March 28, 2013 at 9:05 pm
Dont like Mike…
March 29, 2013 at 2:26 am
Go 69 a grizzly bear.
March 28, 2013 at 11:36 pm
Mike that’s Fuckin Deadly man!!
You must have some patients…..
March 28, 2013 at 11:38 pm
Spawny why don’t you fuck off……
If you don’t like Mike keep it to yourself.
Do you know him?
March 29, 2013 at 1:07 am
This is by far my favorite episode of NON-Nerd stuff.
The drawings with music part was amazing. Good work guys!
March 29, 2013 at 2:44 am
damn mike, how long did you send drawing those
March 29, 2013 at 3:34 am
Wolfenstein 3D on the SNES used the mouse too.
March 29, 2013 at 3:38 am
When I was a kid, we used to make animations where we just came up with creative ways for Mario to die (like having his head torn off by Yoshi). Did anyone else do silly shit like this?
March 29, 2013 at 8:22 am
haha funny shit guys! and mike you are the fucking man! you got a fucking insane skill!
March 29, 2013 at 9:08 am
Have you guys played Flashback? It’s an awesome game also available for SNES. Just thought I ask.
March 29, 2013 at 5:41 pm
I wish I could draw like Mike.
March 30, 2013 at 1:19 am
does anyone know the name of the artist who made the avgn song at the end?
March 30, 2013 at 5:41 am
Amazing art work Mike!!
March 30, 2013 at 5:47 am
You guys have to make more of these James and Mike play videos. AVGN is great, but seeing authentic reactions with the footage of you guys playing is really cool. Not to mention the funny banter between you two. Also, damn, Mike is a great artist, even with a mouse.
