Damn, I love these series. Maybe Judas Priest or Iron Maiden next?

    • BaconBoozer

      January 16, 2013 at 12:51 pm

      Iron Maiden would be awesome!

      • January 17, 2013 at 1:53 am

Fuck yes, up the irons, we demand Maiden…but you know, only if you want to…

This one is going to be impossible…90% of all AC/DC songs, while awesome, sound exactly alike.

      totally agree

      August 6, 2014 at 5:50 pm

I actually knew a lot of them. Not all of them though like how the song “Got You By the Balls” sounds like “Rock N’ Roll Train”. But James really got stumped on the “Blow Up Your Video” album. I was screaming “Mean Streak! Mean Streak!”

i LOVE these videos. PLEASE do a LED ZEPPELIN one!!!!!

  • Dore

    January 16, 2013 at 1:25 am

I’m noticing that your last couple of videos have been being posted, then taken down again. Everything ok over there, James and Mike?

    • January 16, 2013 at 10:35 am

I had a few tech issues. Like audio being out of sync so I had to fix the videos. Thats why it disappeared for a bit. No big deal.

      • January 17, 2013 at 2:09 am

Oh man I know that feel. The frustration of having to re-encode and re-upload..

  • January 16, 2013 at 1:41 am

AC/DC has gotta be hard. I can listen to half a minute of a song and be wrong on which it is. Unless of course it’s one of the singles Q104.3 plays nonstop.

  • January 16, 2013 at 2:06 am

you guys should really invite a third party to come in and be the judge in a name that tune head to head.

    • Tommy Goodlet

      January 16, 2013 at 4:38 am

I agree with this. Or find some way to do it via webcam for a fan or something.

By the way, I’ve noticed some of the comments from people about AC/DC. I’ve noticed going through life, they’re considered by everyone as being “loved.” However you ask someone their favorite album, and they’re always like “whatever’s on the radio.” So your entire basis is either from 1976, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1990, or 2008

Look, they have so many good songs and albums that have went unheard of. Idk. Maybe i’m just some loser who sits around and has ntohing else better to do.

      • January 16, 2013 at 7:22 am

I’d agree with you. Albums like Ballbreaker were mostly unheard of even though Hail Ceaser and Boogeyman are both incredible AC/DC tracks. And even off the popular albums, some of the best songs never got a lot of radio play. I never heard The Razor’s Edge on the radio even though it was the title track and the best song (in my opinion) off that album.

This is great and all, but I for one agree that we are all gamers here and maybe do a video game version of Name that tune for like nes and snes games, that would kick ass.

Heres a few sites that do this already check em out!

one is for nes and the other is for snes

    January 16, 2013 at 3:19 am

I didn’t think you do AC/DC, they are impossibile.

    • Tommy Goodlet

      January 16, 2013 at 4:10 am

not if you listen to every album over and over again over a period of 21 years. I literally have named almost every song, even the ones he’s missed, quicker and with precision than James has.

This is NOT impossible. I actually watch these videos and you’re thinking too long and too hard on a lot of these songs, as you did in the Metallica video as well. I’d love to actually go against you on a similarly known band that we both knew. I’ve been keeping score along with you, and right now as I post this, I am 3 up on you.

i thought the first song was money talks too, however i did know the title of the song lol, i had a money talks shirt from the concert, on the front was angus young in a dollar bill, and in the back it had a woman bending over and showing her panties on the shirt, my parents went to the show and bought me that shirt, i went to school in it and got suspended for wearing it, my parents couldn’t be too mad since they bought it for me and knew i was wearing it

  • Tommy Goodlet

    January 16, 2013 at 4:20 am

We at least both believe that Flick of the Switch, their 83 album, is highly underrated. However, you couldn’t think of the title track. And you’re having a hard time with Go Zone. Come on dude.

  • Tommy Goodlet

    January 16, 2013 at 4:27 am

Rock and Roll trian starts totally differently than Got you the By the Balls. I honestly would love to have a showdown somehow between us because Im sure I look like some dipshit who’s giving you a hard time and is like talking about this after teh fact. But reality is, I guess I just know more thant you (or anyone) about AC/DC songs. you play me anything from the Beatles or a band that’s made more contributions to people’s lives, I’m done for. I just like AC/DC. The Metallica episode we were about evently matched on.

  • Tommy Goodlet

    January 16, 2013 at 4:33 am

By the way, the one you said no way on at the end was Ride On.

  • Tommy Goodlet

    January 16, 2013 at 4:37 am

So, pinnacle of my life is AC/DC. Anyone who knows me, first band I ever name off as a favorite is AC/DC. I don’t honestly try (anymore) to convince people they’re the best simple rock band out there. But anyways, AVGN does the name that tune.

First track, I get it. He doesn’t. I got it on the first play, he even had to get more of the song and STILL couldn’t guess it. 1/0

Sin City, got it. He didn’t.

Kicked in the Teeth, neither got

Meanstreak, he didn’t get, I did

Tommy Goodlet Money made, neither got.

Money Talks, I got it. He didn’t.

Flick of the switch, he didn’t get. I did.

He didn’t get go zone, I did. However I will say that I got fucked on hail ceaser as I guessed too quickly.

Rock and Roll train? Really? It’s Got you by the balls. Duh.

He got dog eat dog. I thought it was off Powerage

Really, coulnd’t get shake your foundations. Sounds nothing like Fly on the Wall

Neither of us got there’s gonna be some rockin

Nice job. I did better overall, but you did beat me on a couple. I got the Blow Up Your Video ones easily (the production on that album is so horrible, it makes it very distinctive). Got You By The Balls was tricky, but I came through on it. First one sounded like You Shook Me All Night Long, personally. Nice job on Love At First Feel (definitely a track for the more dedicated fans). πŸ™‚ A shame that there weren’t more Powerage tracks (quite a few sound-alikes on there)…

  • January 17, 2013 at 3:37 am

Hey James and Mike, as ive been a viewer from 2007 ive heard james mention SLAYER! countless times, why not do that next, would be awesome, im pretty sure James would also agree on doing it

Even though AC/DC is my favorite band I guessed the least songs.

Love these videos! Perhaps Judas Priest now?

  • January 17, 2013 at 10:32 am

What the hell man? You remember a random song off Ballbreaker but not “Moneytalks”. Come on bro.

    • laser

      January 17, 2013 at 2:42 pm

      Hail Caesar’s better than Moneytalks.

      • January 18, 2013 at 10:07 am

Despite that, it’s no question Moneytalks is the more popular song.

  • January 17, 2013 at 4:38 pm

    January 18, 2013 at 8:43 pm

i’m not that big into AC/DC. I like their music , but it’s not one of my personal favorites. when it comes to rock or metal , I tend to like Dream Evil , Dark Tranquility , Fear Factory , Nightwish , Amon Amarth , Dokken , Pantera , even Dethklok. oh man , I would love to see James & Mike’s opinion on Dethklok.

  • LordJason1986

    January 18, 2013 at 8:46 pm

I personally think their next name that tune should be Motorhead. another kick ass band from the past.

Name That Tune – Alice Cooper

Man, having listened to the majority of AC/DC’s catalog for the past 14 years of my life, I highly enjoyed this video, and got all but Flick of the Switch. I don’t blame you not getting Go Zone and Meanstreak off of Blow Up Your Video, that album gets absoulely no love. Meanstreak is one of my all-time favorite songs, though.

Love these videos, James & Mike! I always play along, and James always kicks my ass. This time around, I’m ashamed to admit that I only got 13 out of 33, as big a fan of AC/DC as I am…

And I agree, Gameslavegaz, Blow Up Your Video was highly underrated in my opinion.

  • February 4, 2013 at 10:16 pm

Out of all the Name That Tune’s so far – AC DC is the one I’d excel at the most, then TV shows and Metallica, if you did a LED ZEPPELIN episode then it’d be over…Also, I thought the first one was MONEYTALKS too James!!

  • February 4, 2013 at 10:23 pm

I still have the WHO MADE WHO VHS tape with the music videos on it of Who Made Who, You Shook Me All Night Long, Shake Your Foundations, For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). I’m not sure how many times I watched it as a kid and i’m talking when I was young like 3 years old, ahaha and if you’ve seen those videos they sure can leave an impression on a kid. I wanted to be Angus Young as a kid dancing in my dad’s bar, spinning on the dance floor like Angus used to do whenever an AC DC song came on. People would throw me money for dancing and rocking out. AC DC is memories for me, the first band I truly loved.
