Nice job! Those clips were pretty darn miniscule!
You gotta do AC/DC next. I’d probably ace it, as I’ve listened to every album (including rare tracks & demos) ’till they burned a hole in my brain…
December 18, 2012 at 1:32 am
Dude, stuff from Tyr or Born Again I would be completely lost. Actually any Martin/Gillan/Hughes, I would be lost with. For the idea of the game, you did pretty damn well though. This is a little more difficult than the original “Name That Tune” though. Perhaps in the future you can get these down to more of a science and bet on how many chords you can guess from the initial clip.
December 18, 2012 at 1:51 am
Led Zep for the next vid!
December 18, 2012 at 2:03 am
There’s a Daffy Duck cartoon parodied off this name.
What kinda clue is that??? hahahahaha

There is a problem with the comment system. I always get an error message saying i am an spambot on older entries.
The correct pronunciation of Ryu is the way you first pronounced it, James. However, in Japanese the R is always soft, like in “i.rate”.
December 18, 2012 at 5:04 am
led zep or pink floyd for the next vid
December 18, 2012 at 7:21 am
There’s a DVD game called Riff That is kind of an open ended rock and metal trivia game. i know its some where around my house if i can find it ill send it to you. But that is one worth trying. most trivia games like it are DVD games
December 18, 2012 at 7:30 am
This is a pretty good thing! I like it. Next time you should do Iron Maiden or Pink Floyd

There is a Heavy Metal Trivia board game called “Metal Mental Meltdown”. It’s set up a bit like trivial pursuit, but the cards are ranked by difficulty rather than category (and you play on a giant pentagram). The hard questions tend towards the very obscure (“Who played session guitar on ____ or Who produced ______ album or Name five drummers of ______. You’re supposed to play to 666 points, but playing it a few times, it seems like that could take days or weeks.
It’s likely way out of print, but I do have a copy. If you guys ever end up in the Pittsburgh area, I can bust it out and we can throw down…

Sounds awesome, If you ever happen to meet me at a convention or somewhere, feel free to quiz me.
December 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm
An Iron Maiden vid would be sweet
December 18, 2012 at 3:40 pm
Nice dude! I didn’t know you were THAT much of a fan of Sabbath! I was guessing them right along with you; I couldn’t get the ones from Cross Purposes/Forbidden either…
December 18, 2012 at 5:08 pm
SWEET! .Check this out James, this was a heavy metalboard game made back in 1999. Its pretty rare with only 2500 copies made. I will aquire this board game someday. I heard alot about it since back in the days. If you ever aquire it on ebay would you please make a video for it.http://heavymetaladdiction.com/2008/01/16/cd-scavenger-hunt-metal-mental-meltdown-heavy-metal-trivia-board-game/ Btw you gotta do Slayer Maiden,OZZY and DIO next ,thad be KIller!! Metal till you die!!
December 18, 2012 at 7:27 pm
Black Sabbath rules! Ozzy and Dio eras are classic, but I feel as though the Tony Martin era doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. The Eternal idol is an amazing album and has really heavy-ass songs like The Shining, Glory Ride, and Lost Forever. It’s also the most 80’s sounding album Sabbath ever did. Good shit!
December 18, 2012 at 7:44 pm
hahahah!! i actually got it AFTER Mike gave the Daffy Duck clue! i feel like a dick! lol
December 18, 2012 at 7:45 pm
Next time you should do Van Halen or Lynyrd Skynyrd.
December 18, 2012 at 9:02 pm
Considering I was the one who emailed you about seeing all the Sabbath CDs in the Mr. Bucket video…this is awesome.
December 18, 2012 at 9:43 pm
I love Ozzy-era Black Sabbath to death. It’s got so much character . . . you just blip that old Sabbath, and immediately, you know it. Something heavy and mystical about it that goes way beyond lyrics. I don’t really know what the later stuff (beyond DIO, which I like) even sounds like . . . makes me curious. I doubt they’re as great as the old ones, but maybe I’ll find some aural treasure if I take the time to dig.
December 18, 2012 at 10:58 pm
Try it with DragonForce (P.S.: It doesn’t work).
December 18, 2012 at 11:41 pm
I’d like to see you do Van Halen. DOOOO EEEEET.
December 19, 2012 at 12:33 am

December 19, 2012 at 7:10 am
Weirdly, the ad that played before the video featured Deep Purple’s Highway Star (both a crappy pop version and Glenn Hughes’ awesome version). Great vid, guys! I only recognized a few of them 😛

December 19, 2012 at 8:39 am
The classic rock station where I live actually has a contest that they started a few months ago called “Every Second Counts”, where they play the first second of a song and people have to call in to guess the song and win money. Every time the song is guessed incorrectly, the prize money increases.
December 19, 2012 at 1:50 pm
Impressive James, I’m a Sabbath fan as well and couldn’t get half of those.
December 19, 2012 at 3:10 pm

December 19, 2012 at 10:25 pm
I did this type of competition (2sec challenge) with another techno nerd with Infected Mushroom songs. I got 28/30.
December 20, 2012 at 9:00 pm
Great job James! I’m a HUGE Dio Sabbath fan and you did great with the songs Ronnie did with him. I like to see you do album reviews, I’d like to hear your opinions on some classic stuff. Next time you play this game you should really challenge your mind and try someone like King Diamond.
December 20, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Epic! this was fun, I love Black Sabbath, Master of Reality being my favorite album and After Forever being my favorite song by Ozzy Sabbath (Heaven and Hell by Dio Sabbath). Man these were tough, I only got the obvious ones. You should do Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, and so on. This was a awesome video, Good Job guys!!!!
December 24, 2012 at 2:19 pm

James, you asked for a Metal trivia book. Pick up The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal by Daniel Bukszpan. EXCELLENT book. It goes for something like $20 on Amazon.

February 8, 2013 at 6:56 pm
You should do Led Zeppelin.
March 28, 2013 at 6:03 pm
I’d get my ass kicked on this quiz since I’m pretty ignorant of any BS album post-Heaven and Hell.
May 22, 2013 at 8:17 pm
your should try pantera.megadeth
June 10, 2013 at 6:19 pm
You must talk about the new Black Sabbath album when you get your hands on it.
Ozzy’s back, baby!
June 13, 2013 at 4:21 pm
August 18, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Already did it.
You dudes should do a mix of thrash or just plain Motörhead.
December 17, 2013 at 7:27 am
Just thought it was funny Mike said Elvis for what kind of music he listens to, not funny like there’s any thing wrong with that cause Elvis rules, but what about the other great fifties rockers? Like Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochrane, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, maybe some Les Paul stuff??? So like just Elvis or 50s rock/rockabilly in general I wonder?
February 17, 2014 at 8:06 pm
I just registered to the site today and it ROCKS! Great job on the Black Sabbath! IMO Cross Purposes and Seventh Star are underrated albums in their catalog.
