Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job Ive had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringin home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, http://www.g00.me/Work
If only you played mutant league football for the genesis . Atari boxing is a cult classic, play it with a bunch of friends tournament style if you want a good forearm workout.
LOL, great episode. The first 4 minutes were hilarious, especially the football title rant. Nice honest finisher. Long live nerds. I think this should definitely lead into a review of Mutant League Hockey and Football. Love those.
Oh my god, I can’t believe how loud I was laughing at this.
I played most of these games: Boxing, Basketball, Tennis, Soccer. We had one cartridge with all of them on there.
I’m getting so old. Great Stuff.
FUCK YEAH YOU ROCK JAMES THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT EPISODE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! (sorry for the caps i just get really excited everytime there’s a new episode)
I’m having trouble here, I can tell from the comments that the episode is in HD but I can only see it in a really poor resolution. I even downloaded it with Real Player expecting it to be around 80-100MB at least, but it’s only 23MB meaning the quality is still low. Very confusing.
Maybe it’s because you have the same attitude towards sports that I do, James (I don’t give a shit about them), but I thought this was genuinely one of the funniest Nerd episodes you ever made.
I work in a Liquor store and I’m the only one there who doesn’t follow sports. I’m glad to see that there are other people like me.
Great video and great references! I was a huge RPG and sports fan growing up, and so when the two semi-merged in the mid-90s, where you could create your own players and level up stats, I was in heaven.
This is one of James’ best intros ever (Not the intro itself but before he starts reviewing). Also, to me, it’s very clear how much fun he had with this video. The sound in his voice is pure delight, that I’ve not heard for a while. Great episode.
I too hate sports games. Luckily Baseball and Football are mostly played only in the US (where I come from Soccer is called Football and what you call Football is “American Football”), so I don’t come across those games so much. And by the way, why don’t you use the AVGN theme song anymore!?
Alright, another new Nerd video to hold us over until the movie comes out and a really good one too, more like the early days with you and the camera and some gameplay footage.
Holly fuck James, that was really great episode That new camera is awesome and humor in this one, just crazy Correct me if I’m wrong, but that was the first episode with Rollin’ Rock in can isn’t it
I am seriously shocked that he didn’t even mention hockey. There are so many hockey games on the playstation and dreamcast. I love hockey to death, in fact my NHL series is my 2nd biggest game collection, behind just Mario.
I totally feel the same way about video games, in that I like playing games that let me do things that I can’t do in real life (or would never get away with). Sports games can be fun an all, but I never get it when sports video games are the only types of games that someone plays. I look at their video game collection filled with nothing but football and basketball games and am like “Dude, you don’t play real video games?”
I’ve played NHL games so much when I was little. Probably from lack of games to play and the high replayability of sport games. I had more fun getting hundreds of body checks and wounding half of the opposite team.
Really enjoyed this episode, the opening rant was really funny especially when you slammed the game into the system. I’m with the other fans in wondering where the theme song is. The theme song can get old listening to it 109 times, but it always gets me in the right mood to watch AVGN, especially when I first put on a new episode.
Great review, James. I was literally as shocked as you were on the Golf games. What the hell did M.I.M.A.L. have for a club? A whip?! When I was a child growing up in the 80s I had a few sports titles on the Sega Master System. I played Great Baseball, Great Football, World Grand Prix (even my mom used to pronounce it pricks like you do James, lol!), and Hang-On/Safari Hunt. When I got a Genesis in the early 90s I played sports titles like Arch Rivals, David Robinson’s Supreme Court, Tecmo Super NBA Basketball, and Mutant League Football and & Hockey games. I loved the Mutant League games most of all the sports titles because there was an element of fantasy added to them. I loved the fantasy side of video games a lot more than the sports side of games, just like you James, but I can’t deny the fact that I did indeed play sports titles as a kid too. Watching your videos always makes me miss the childhood I had in a good way. It was a wonderful time growing up when we did and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the nostalgia you bring to my life, James. : )
I can tell you spent a good amount of time on this video James, and I appreciate the effort you put in! The anger and aggression was at a maximum for this one and it really made me laugh.
The “Football” cursing rant was instant classic. Loved the episode. The only sports game I ever got into was the Punch Outs (if that counts), NBA Jam for SNES was kinda fun too “He’s on fire!”
Best part was the John Madden rant… MADDEN 91, MADDEN 92, MADDEN 93… HE DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE AN ATHLETE!! lol so true… I will never understand the fascination with football.
Good video. I always found it funny how the ball was square in the atari basketball game as well. I’m not sure if you’ve played it or not but you should check out Cyber Stadium Series Basewars for NES. I’m not much into sports games either but that one is one I can pick up and play any day due to its futuristic interpretation of the sport.
As much as I agree with most of it, the argument of “Go outside and do that that” is kind of lame. Many that play sports games do so for:
1) The fact they can’t hit a 350 yd drive, return a punt for a TD, pitch a 98 MPH slider, etc.
2) Play in a group settings or online with friends just to have fun
If you only pick out Atari games, of course they will be lame compared to many greats on various consoles. I also enjoy the RPGs, etc, WAY more than sports games, but you only showed the most boring. Ideas for equal comparisons:
*Ice Hockey for Nintendo
*Punch Out of Super Punch Out
*Ken Griffey Jr. Slugfest
*Actual NBA Jam with cheat codes
*Laundry list of others for sports and consoles that really are fun.
Again, love pretty much all your stuff and been following since 07, but only showing Atari sports games is like only showing the N64 Superman game when talking all superhero games. There are many that are fun and well done. I would pay money to watch you and Mike square off in a tourney of various games (a Sports Game Decathlon if you will).
It’s okay, sports aren’t for everybody, but I love me some NFL football. But I love me some Earthbound and some Zelda. I bet you like RC PRO AM though. That is one of the best sports games/racing games of all time for the NES.
Great video guys! I go to your site everyday to see whats new, so keep the material flowing.
James, interesting episode. Not the best one, by any stretch. (It feels a bit flat, toward the end), but it’s brought back that spirit that was missing from recent episodes. Great to see the nerd rage is back! Loved the Madden rant, too, priceless! But I miss hearing the nerd theme song. Bring it back, please!
bring back the theme song! …. and I did enjoy this, but it just seems like James reviewing old games, it doesnt seem like an AVGN. There was no hate for specific games, no story, no games coming to life attacking him or anything …. Just James in a white shirt talking about sports games …. = \
He reviews bad games, what’s the problem? why would he review a good sports game? Plus he’s a character, he’s going to say obnoxious things. Kinda like giving out to Edward Norton for those hate crimes he committed in American history X… Analyse and interpret
sports are bullshit. the desire to play sports is merely a vestige of a primal instinct to form packs and compete for territory in order to achieve an adrenalin high. Awesome to see you tapping into that anti-sports nerd rage.
Good video James. Always a nice surprise to come here and see a new episode.
I do have one criticism and that’s the lack of music. The video feels a bit lifeless is the best way I can describe it. Music helps set the tone and keeps the energy going and without it the jokes don’t quite have the punch they should and this reminds me of the earliest videos.
I understand you’re probably busy with the movie, your pregnant wife and the holidays and adding music would have been time consuming and you wanted to get the video out for us so I understand not including it. Maybe you could revisit this one for the eventual dvd release and add the theme song too? If not its still a good episode so no worries either way.
I’m only 3 minutes into it, but I have to say this is a wondrous return to form! Thanks James! Also your new camera equipment is ace. I love the rough and ready feel of your older videos, but you’ve definitely made the right choice with your new equipment. Everything looks great. Thanks again, you made me a happy man today.
I think the Pelé game looks more like it’s based in table-football, than actual soccer. In table-football, just touching the ball causes it to move all over the place xD I used to play it all the time when I was a child
It was a nice episode, I enjoyed the angry rants. It felt like you were going a little fast at the end, but I guess the games really didn’t have that much to be said about them.
Just a comment, I felt this video was very silent, I guess it’s partly because the games didn’t have music, but it felt like it lacked some music in the background (and if I dare say, I also miss the theme song).
I didn’t realize you weren’t into sports that much, but I understand it. In high school I didn’t like sports that much either, much less any sport video games. But as the years passed by I made different kinds of friends with different interests, and eventually American football kind of grew on me. The Madden games can be kind of fun if you give them a chance; also they can be kind of educational and teach you a thing or two about the game, while at the same time having fun as you learn. I suggest you sit down with Mike and try playing one sometime.
However, like you, I love fantasy games and sci-fi games most of all, so I have fond memories of things like Zelda and Metroid as well. Not to mention I still play video games like Skyrim or Call of Duty.
I have always felt that too. That is, sports are just another thing to be nerdy about. Especially the fans who can recite the stats for their favorite team roster.
Who was the first NBA player to win 5 season MVP awards?
How do you get the first Warp Whistle in Super Mario Bros 3?
Baseball Stars on Nes is a classic, like NHL 93 on Genesis. But Madden and NBA was always the game in Canada where you said: “Oh no, this is only game here for 3 bucks, we didn’t give a damn.” We respect your sport in USA, but that was a pain in the ass for all gamers in Canada when you want to buy a sport game.It was always the fucking Madden or NBA. NHL’s games was always 2 times the price.
Awesome episode man! The football thing got me laughing, I personally could never get into it, up here in Maine (Patriots) it seems to be every other word out of guys mouths.
But THIS was always my biggest beef of Genesis vs. SuperNES. Growing up I chose Genesis, while my friend chose SuperNES. On Genesis, it seemed every other damn game that came out was friggin’ sports!
LJN should marry Electronic Arts, creating the perfect union of crap. They could rename the company like a law firm, with two identical names; terds & terds inc.
I think its funny as hell that with all of the praise/shit talking going on here on the Cinemassacre forums, the only way to actually elicit a response from James or Mike is to either be astronomically stupid with your posting, or to accuse them of missing something when they obviously didn’t. Way to be thorough and not let shit slip through the cracks.
Great video btw. I used to play the shit out of miniature golf when I was a kid back in 1986. I loved that game but then again, I had no idea what the hell golf even was. I just remember it being more fun than throwing a tennis ball at the wall.
I think this episode has kind of proved that you don’t need insane amounts of FX, cameos and random pie-throwin’ action to make a great episode! All you really need is conviction and your natural charisma, James!
well done james. while I enjoyed this new episode , I do think that it’s not the best episode you’ve made this year. firstly , I feel that you kind of overreacted at the beginning during the football discussion. personally , I emjoy playing Tecmo Super Bowl on the SNES as a kid while my family were too busy watching real football. but I think overreacting to the numerous titles of football games was a bit over doing it and it could be a case of james over acting. it wouldnt be the first time someone overreacted to something mentioned in the discussion of football (cough janet jackson cough). secondly , where’s the avgn theme? 3 episodes of the year , and all of them are missing the avgn theme? it’s the theme we all recognize in these episodes , and 3 episodes of 2012 doesnt have the avgn theme? that’s like watching Halloween without the John Carpenter score. it shouldnt be that hard to use an older intro with the avgn theme james. even when I made music videos , I kept using the same intro video I’ve made in order to continue with a pattern. but since you’ve only made 3 episodes in total in 2012 with either more or less predicted for 2013 , there’s no excuse to not have the avgn theme since it’s the thing we all recognize with your videos and it’s always been the start of your videos in an episodic fashion. just like Star Wars. that’s just my major grip with the recent avgn episodes , but beyond that , I think you still got the hang of it and they are still funny. I just hope you can learn from this and rectify this mistake in the future. maybe in 2013 , we can see you play more games based on other topics like fighting games (Killer Instinct , Clayfighter , Bio Freaks , Primal Rage) , topics based on video game movies (Super Mario Bros , Mortal Kombat , etc) & video game tv shows (Earthworm Jim , Sonic Sat AM , Double Dragon , Mortal Kombat Conquest , etc) , or maybe a follow up to the steven spielburg episode (Hook snes , Jaws Unleashed , universal studios theme parks adventure , Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine). hell , there’s even a video game based on John Carpenter’s The Thing. either way , great episode james , see you again in 2013. Happy Hankwamas!
we need the Kyle AVGN theme!! the music intro put us in the mud!! thats your mark! ITS NOSTALGIC!
if u are thinking like, ohh we need to go strait fwd and show what ppl want.. without an intro ppl who dont know the character will not close the video.
Then i suggest u do as Linkara do.. make a talktive intro, and then the theme song comes… i was thinking about it a long ago, and i found it very cleaver..
btw, i liked how u bringed the old nerd style back.
About 3:20 to 3:30 there’s some pops and clipping with the rapid audio cuts. You should consider cross-fading the two audio tracks into each other at each splice in the future, or if not possible ADRing the whole thing I guess. Great video btw, cheers.
Wow, what a return to form. The nerd has been gettins soft in the recent years, which is defeating the whole purpose, but this one was angrier than ever. Rage on. Those piece of shit games won’t hate on themselves.
Thanks James! A lot of signature AVGN character stuff in that one. Plus, even though the games suck, it looked like the AGVN was having a little bit of fun at times in there, especially the laughing at the squares in mini golf. I like that touch. Balances out the video and character and makes it fun to watch.
And count me as one more vote for bringing back the intro to the videos.
Wonderful video. It contains my two favorite Angry Video Game Nerd scenes ever – when throw your games and crush a can of beer on your forehead and when you scream like a crazy maniac : TOUCH DOOOOOOWN ! These scenes are so hillarious, I’ve been watching you going mad over and over and over. It’s like when you love a good part in a song, you just play these 10 seconds again and again and again. Once more, James, you scored in my heart.
Because we don’t have gladiatorial combat anymore, that’s why.
Football is War made safer. Each game is a battle, each season is a War. Playing football through a whole season is a strategic effort, and every game is tactical combat. You have casualties, and you and your team has to deal with that. And even if you have a good team, you can still lose to shitty teams. War is like that. In football, every game counts (well, sort of; the NFL’s last week often doesn’t, but in college ball, every game counts). If you lose a game, that could spell the difference between you getting into the playoffs, and you having a shorter season. This means you got to play your best if you want to win. Unlike baseball, basketball or hockey, it’s one fucking game for all the marbles, because football is that brutal.
Thank you for the comment about the pussy half-time shows on the Super Bowl. For me, the Super Bowl has jumped the shark that I couldn’t care less about the game than I do about the commercials. And I never bother with the half-time show. In the 80s and early 90s, the half-time shows were something rather elaborate. Disney made quite a few, and they always had themes. They were fun and imaginative. Now, they put on these fake concerts that are about as patronizing as a dental dam. Fuck that. Put on a real concert, with someone who kicks ass.
Fuckin’ hilarious. Great video James. That Golf game was hysterical. What’s with the bizarre limp-dick club the player uses? I guess they literally couldn’t program a straight line. And that’s Atari in a nutshell.
I think this review sucked and didn’t even seem like a real AVGN video. I’ll never watch it again. Well maybe once more just to confirm how much it sucked. Is this a different James Rolfe than the one that used to make AVGN videos? Seems like a totally different character.
December 17, 2012 at 1:26 pm
Oh my God, it’s a new Nerd episode.

You think those fantasty football guys aren’t actually nerds? Totally are. They just consider anything sports can’t be nerdy.
December 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm
LOL, great episode. The first 4 minutes were hilarious, especially the football title rant. Nice honest finisher. Long live nerds. I think this should definitely lead into a review of Mutant League Hockey and Football. Love those.

December 17, 2012 at 3:36 pm
I’m having trouble here, I can tell from the comments that the episode is in HD but I can only see it in a really poor resolution. I even downloaded it with Real Player expecting it to be around 80-100MB at least, but it’s only 23MB meaning the quality is still low. Very confusing.
December 17, 2012 at 3:36 pm
I think that’s his first pokemon refferance ever. That’s pretty awesome.
December 17, 2012 at 3:36 pm
Ignore all of that, for whatever reason it’s now working absolutely perfectly.
December 17, 2012 at 3:39 pm
You were so on a roll in this one X’D
December 17, 2012 at 3:45 pm
I loved this episode! But I couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the theme song? Did I miss an update about not having it or something?

Lost it at the Les Claypool stomping reference.
Great video and great references! I was a huge RPG and sports fan growing up, and so when the two semi-merged in the mid-90s, where you could create your own players and level up stats, I was in heaven.
December 17, 2012 at 4:10 pm

December 17, 2012 at 4:27 pm
This was pretty funny, some of the games where just hilarious for themself and then you came in with your initial madness. Nice.
December 17, 2012 at 4:29 pm
man James as a long time fan I honestly think this is one of the best episodes you’ve done in years buddy. i was yuckin up a storm
December 17, 2012 at 4:55 pm
I too hate sports games. Luckily Baseball and Football are mostly played only in the US (where I come from Soccer is called Football and what you call Football is “American Football”), so I don’t come across those games so much. And by the way, why don’t you use the AVGN theme song anymore!?
December 17, 2012 at 5:01 pm
That football rant might be the best rant so far. I laughed for a good while at that rant xD
December 17, 2012 at 5:10 pm
Alright, another new Nerd video to hold us over until the movie comes out and a really good one too, more like the early days with you and the camera and some gameplay footage.
December 17, 2012 at 5:11 pm
Possibly the best intro ever to an AVGN review. Solid episode !
December 17, 2012 at 5:20 pm
Holly fuck James, that was really great episode
That new camera is awesome and humor in this one, just crazy
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that was the first episode with Rollin’ Rock in can isn’t it
December 17, 2012 at 5:45 pm
I do believe I just saw the first fighting game, my life is complete
December 17, 2012 at 5:46 pm
Does Kyle still live behind the couch? It would be cool if he came out jammed the theme song again sometime!!
December 17, 2012 at 6:01 pm
Nerd didn’t bash Hockey, woot!
December 17, 2012 at 6:04 pm
I am seriously shocked that he didn’t even mention hockey. There are so many hockey games on the playstation and dreamcast. I love hockey to death, in fact my NHL series is my 2nd biggest game collection, behind just Mario.
December 17, 2012 at 6:06 pm
Another great episode.
December 17, 2012 at 6:11 pm
@gaminggod7
Yes I did. “Ice Hockey.” It’s in there. It’s probably nothing like your Playstation or Dreamcast games though.
December 17, 2012 at 6:31 pm
Awesome video, even if you hate sports games. lol.
And yet another Killer Instinct reference… Can’t wait for the video of you guys playing it.
December 17, 2012 at 6:34 pm
Hilarious and interesting video! Great job.
December 17, 2012 at 6:36 pm
The more angry the nerd is, the more funny the videos are ^.^
December 17, 2012 at 6:36 pm

What happened to your theme song, James? Why don’t you use it anymore? Good episode, though.
December 17, 2012 at 6:58 pm

December 17, 2012 at 7:50 pm
I’ve played NHL games so much when I was little. Probably from lack of games to play and the high replayability of sport games. I had more fun getting hundreds of body checks and wounding half of the opposite team.
December 17, 2012 at 8:05 pm
Not one of your best episodes, Nerd. But I still enjoyed it. I’m the same way; I never liked playing sports video games. I never saw the point.
December 17, 2012 at 8:16 pm
Really enjoyed this episode, the opening rant was really funny especially when you slammed the game into the system. I’m with the other fans in wondering where the theme song is. The theme song can get old listening to it 109 times, but it always gets me in the right mood to watch AVGN, especially when I first put on a new episode.
December 17, 2012 at 8:26 pm
Someone’s gonna say it, so it might as well be me.
Miniature Golf for the Atari is for squares.
December 17, 2012 at 8:36 pm
gaminggod7 must be new here.
This is about going back to the PAST.
To play the shitty games that suck ass.
December 17, 2012 at 8:38 pm
Great fun
but does this counts as the christmas episode this year?
December 17, 2012 at 8:51 pm
@gaminggod7
Yeah he did. the one where they were low on budged and they had to share the same stick lol.

December 17, 2012 at 9:03 pm
I can tell you spent a good amount of time on this video James, and I appreciate the effort you put in! The anger and aggression was at a maximum for this one and it really made me laugh.
Loved it!
December 17, 2012 at 9:17 pm
The “Football” cursing rant was instant classic. Loved the episode. The only sports game I ever got into was the Punch Outs (if that counts), NBA Jam for SNES was kinda fun too “He’s on fire!”
December 17, 2012 at 9:20 pm
Best part was the John Madden rant… MADDEN 91, MADDEN 92, MADDEN 93… HE DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE AN ATHLETE!! lol so true… I will never understand the fascination with football.
December 17, 2012 at 9:25 pm
December 17, 2012 at 9:35 pm
Dude,
Keep doing these any once in a while…
Nice to see sports views from the other side…
James, are you yourself a sports fan at all and that was just the nerd?
Good point about Star Trek uniforms and Football Jerseys…we all have our things!
December 17, 2012 at 9:50 pm
This Video was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

December 17, 2012 at 9:50 pm
what camera did you use?
December 17, 2012 at 9:56 pm
Ah, just what I needed after a shitty day. I’m still hoping for an AVGN episode based on NASCAR/racing games.
December 17, 2012 at 10:03 pm
January 6, 2013 at 3:05 pm
Well, as the title says he would only be scratching the Atari games, in no way did he say that all sportsgames suck or that they are boring.
December 17, 2012 at 10:13 pm
Fishing Derby is another good one. I like to pop that one in now and then.
One-one-One basketball for Atari 7800 is my favorite
December 17, 2012 at 10:15 pm
*One-on-one Basketball*
December 17, 2012 at 10:18 pm
It’s okay, sports aren’t for everybody, but I love me some NFL football. But I love me some Earthbound and some Zelda. I bet you like RC PRO AM though. That is one of the best sports games/racing games of all time for the NES.
Great video guys! I go to your site everyday to see whats new, so keep the material flowing.
December 17, 2012 at 11:02 pm
James, interesting episode. Not the best one, by any stretch. (It feels a bit flat, toward the end), but it’s brought back that spirit that was missing from recent episodes. Great to see the nerd rage is back! Loved the Madden rant, too, priceless! But I miss hearing the nerd theme song. Bring it back, please!
December 17, 2012 at 11:05 pm
Great classic AVGN, love these kind of episode, when james just make quick reviews of very, very old games
(like the double vision one)
December 17, 2012 at 11:18 pm
bring back the theme song! …. and I did enjoy this, but it just seems like James reviewing old games, it doesnt seem like an AVGN. There was no hate for specific games, no story, no games coming to life attacking him or anything …. Just James in a white shirt talking about sports games …. = \
December 17, 2012 at 11:27 pm
@GopherKills
He reviews bad games, what’s the problem? why would he review a good sports game? Plus he’s a character, he’s going to say obnoxious things. Kinda like giving out to Edward Norton for those hate crimes he committed in American history X… Analyse and interpret
December 17, 2012 at 11:34 pm
sports are bullshit. the desire to play sports is merely a vestige of a primal instinct to form packs and compete for territory in order to achieve an adrenalin high. Awesome to see you tapping into that anti-sports nerd rage.
December 17, 2012 at 11:35 pm
Thanks for the entertainment Jams.
December 17, 2012 at 11:36 pm
Just some random trivia: the last “e” in Pelé’s name is voiced as a open-mid vowel (more specifically: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-mid_front_unrounded_vowel), which sounds more or less like the “e” in “Bed” or the “a” in “Fat”.
December 17, 2012 at 11:44 pm
I’m only 3 minutes into it, but I have to say this is a wondrous return to form! Thanks James! Also your new camera equipment is ace. I love the rough and ready feel of your older videos, but you’ve definitely made the right choice with your new equipment. Everything looks great. Thanks again, you made me a happy man today.
December 17, 2012 at 11:52 pm
Wow! The quality of the image is insanely good!
Thanks for the episode
December 18, 2012 at 12:05 am
December 18, 2012 at 1:01 am
you’re a square, pushing a smaller square towards another square. FUCK that craked me up!
December 18, 2012 at 1:24 am
I have always felt that too. That is, sports are just another thing to be nerdy about. Especially the fans who can recite the stats for their favorite team roster.
Who was the first NBA player to win 5 season MVP awards?
How do you get the first Warp Whistle in Super Mario Bros 3?
Same level of obsessive knowledge.
December 18, 2012 at 2:41 am
Baseball Stars on Nes is a classic, like NHL 93 on Genesis. But Madden and NBA was always the game in Canada where you said: “Oh no, this is only game here for 3 bucks, we didn’t give a damn.” We respect your sport in USA, but that was a pain in the ass for all gamers in Canada when you want to buy a sport game.It was always the fucking Madden or NBA. NHL’s games was always 2 times the price.
December 18, 2012 at 4:59 am
This might be my new favorite AVGN episode. Wow. But nah, it’ll never beat out Action 52…
December 18, 2012 at 6:22 am
James is probably not that into sports games because he is a “real gamer”. (See elsewhere on the internet for that debate.)
December 18, 2012 at 6:50 am
Now i know what to watch christmas evening <3
December 18, 2012 at 7:03 am
Awesome episode man! The football thing got me laughing, I personally could never get into it, up here in Maine (Patriots) it seems to be every other word out of guys mouths.
But THIS was always my biggest beef of Genesis vs. SuperNES. Growing up I chose Genesis, while my friend chose SuperNES. On Genesis, it seemed every other damn game that came out was friggin’ sports!
LJN should marry Electronic Arts, creating the perfect union of crap. They could rename the company like a law firm, with two identical names; terds & terds inc.
December 18, 2012 at 7:03 am
This was a very good episode, James. Congrats!
I was laughing like a crazy person at the beginning when the Nerd lost it with all the Football.
I do miss the theme song too, though.
Good job!
December 18, 2012 at 8:14 am
Amazing Video James! as always! Can’t wait for the movie!! hope it comes to the UK!!
December 18, 2012 at 8:22 am
I think its funny as hell that with all of the praise/shit talking going on here on the Cinemassacre forums, the only way to actually elicit a response from James or Mike is to either be astronomically stupid with your posting, or to accuse them of missing something when they obviously didn’t. Way to be thorough and not let shit slip through the cracks.
December 18, 2012 at 8:24 am
Great video btw. I used to play the shit out of miniature golf when I was a kid back in 1986. I loved that game but then again, I had no idea what the hell golf even was. I just remember it being more fun than throwing a tennis ball at the wall.
December 18, 2012 at 8:42 am
I think this episode has kind of proved that you don’t need insane amounts of FX, cameos and random pie-throwin’ action to make a great episode! All you really need is conviction and your natural charisma, James!
Frickin’ amazing work! Keep it up!
Regards,
Azdrerios Entertainment
December 18, 2012 at 8:44 am
” Which one’s Pele’? ”
-LoL
-Nice episode (a little tame, no Nerd-rage) but way to tip your hat to the sports gamers. Can’t wait for the movie.
December 18, 2012 at 9:14 am
well done james. while I enjoyed this new episode , I do think that it’s not the best episode you’ve made this year. firstly , I feel that you kind of overreacted at the beginning during the football discussion. personally , I emjoy playing Tecmo Super Bowl on the SNES as a kid while my family were too busy watching real football. but I think overreacting to the numerous titles of football games was a bit over doing it and it could be a case of james over acting. it wouldnt be the first time someone overreacted to something mentioned in the discussion of football (cough janet jackson cough). secondly , where’s the avgn theme?
December 18, 2012 at 9:18 am
well , at least he finallydid an episode about sports games. I’d say , he was being a real sport about it.
December 18, 2012 at 9:36 am
we need the Kyle AVGN theme!! the music intro put us in the mud!! thats your mark!
GJ!
a Brazilian fan!
December 18, 2012 at 9:55 am
I hadn’t laughed this hard in weeks. Everyone in Starbucks is staring at me. I really needed it. Thanks James for the great video!
December 18, 2012 at 10:00 am
About 3:20 to 3:30 there’s some pops and clipping with the rapid audio cuts. You should consider cross-fading the two audio tracks into each other at each splice in the future, or if not possible ADRing the whole thing I guess. Great video btw, cheers.
December 18, 2012 at 12:21 pm
Wow, what a return to form. The nerd has been gettins soft in the recent years, which is defeating the whole purpose, but this one was angrier than ever. Rage on. Those piece of shit games won’t hate on themselves.
December 18, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Nice, I always like your atari videos!
December 18, 2012 at 1:42 pm
Thanks James! A lot of signature AVGN character stuff in that one. Plus, even though the games suck, it looked like the AGVN was having a little bit of fun at times in there, especially the laughing at the squares in mini golf. I like that touch. Balances out the video and character and makes it fun to watch.
And count me as one more vote for bringing back the intro to the videos.
December 18, 2012 at 5:39 pm
Great video! but, what ever happened to the intro?
December 18, 2012 at 5:43 pm
Hi James !
December 18, 2012 at 5:48 pm
Why Football?
December 18, 2012 at 5:56 pm
I miss the Angry Video Game Nerd theme…
December 18, 2012 at 6:07 pm
New AVGN means awesome!!! James, you’re are awesome!
December 18, 2012 at 7:23 pm
Well.. looks like I’m the odd man out in this comment section, because I think this video was one of the worst avgn reviews.
Still a huuuuuge fan though
Can’t wait for the movie to be out
December 18, 2012 at 7:23 pm
Fuckin’ hilarious. Great video James. That Golf game was hysterical. What’s with the bizarre limp-dick club the player uses? I guess they literally couldn’t program a straight line. And that’s Atari in a nutshell.
December 18, 2012 at 7:39 pm
I think this review sucked and didn’t even seem like a real AVGN video. I’ll never watch it again. Well maybe once more just to confirm how much it sucked. Is this a different James Rolfe than the one that used to make AVGN videos? Seems like a totally different character.
