Reviewing horror films all around the month of October has been a tradition on Cinemassacre since 2007. It’s been a tough year for me personally to be able to continue it, but I love doing it so much, I can’t let it go. It’s the least I can do to celebrate the Halloween season. So yes, it’s happening. It’ll be sort of an economy version. The videos will be less frequent, although the total running length of all videos combined won’t be any shorter than the first year. Keep checking in for the video promo later this month.

September 10, 2012 at 11:06 am
Yay! Monster Madness really puts me in the right mindset to get excited for Halloween. Glad to see you’re willing to devote some time to it even with your busy schedule.
September 10, 2012 at 11:06 am
Yes, so happy to hear it James! I always get in such a halloween mood when the Monster Madness starts. I watch it every year and when I want some extra Halloween feeling I watch the old ones. It’s a tradition, and I hope you keep going as long as you love making them.
September 10, 2012 at 11:07 am
Awesome. Workin’ your ass off James, I love it
September 10, 2012 at 11:15 am

Looking forward to it big time! on of the highlights of the year, thx James!
September 10, 2012 at 12:23 pm
So it’s not going to be 1 movie review per day? more like 1 movie review per week? Well either way, we apreciate all the effort and love you put into Monster Madness
September 10, 2012 at 12:29 pm
Excited you’re going to keep Monster Madness going, even with how busy you are. Thanks James.
September 10, 2012 at 12:36 pm
Thanks James! We all appreciate the work you put in to this site!
September 10, 2012 at 12:59 pm
Excellent, I have learned a lot and I’ve become a classic horror films fan myself thank to this, I apreciate the effort.
September 10, 2012 at 1:12 pm
Nice, glad you’re still gonna do it. See ya in October. Cheers!
September 10, 2012 at 1:44 pm
When I think of a event from last year, I always think of Monster Madness..
September 10, 2012 at 1:49 pm
AWESOME! I can’t wait!
September 10, 2012 at 1:51 pm
When you say the videos will be less frequent, do you mean it won’t be every day in October?
September 10, 2012 at 1:52 pm
I appreciate all the work you put into the videos, James!
September 10, 2012 at 2:02 pm
Dear James greetings from Mexico!! I’ve been your fan for 6 years and I’m also a big horror movies fan; every year I organize a sort of Marathon of horror movies, this year we will do it on november 2nd (Because here in Mexico we celebrate the Day of the dead) and we will have an internet page, if you wish you can check it at http://www.deslizateinteractivo.com/terror Hope you like it… have a nice day and we’ll know from each other again… in a closer point to our death…..
September 10, 2012 at 2:35 pm
Thank you James. I just want you to know that Monster Madness is sososooo important to me. It’s one of the major reasons October is my favorite months and you’re my favorite internet personality. I registered just to thank you, so thank you.
September 10, 2012 at 2:40 pm
YES!! YOUR THE FUCKIN MAN JAMES!
September 10, 2012 at 2:49 pm
MM has become a tradition for me every year too james. me and my friend johnny love watching and discussing the movies you review every year.
i hope a new halloween avgn happens too! i know its a lot of work, but its always worth it and appreciate all your hard work.
September 10, 2012 at 3:19 pm
Im glad you wil make monster madness because I discovered the halloween series beause of it
September 10, 2012 at 3:24 pm
Monster Madness is easily one of the best internet video series, right next to AVGN (although we can’t really compare the two). Glad to hear you love making it as much as we love watching it.
September 10, 2012 at 3:43 pm
So psyched for this
It’s one of my favourite things about Halloween. Definitely gets me in the Halloween spirit. Keep up the great work James!
September 10, 2012 at 3:44 pm
With all the chaos, I completely expected you to take the year off. The fact that you are pushing through it shows ULTIMATE committment to your fans. Let the madness countdown begin!
September 10, 2012 at 3:53 pm
Awesome James! Funny I was just at work earlier today and sat there thinking: I wonder if James will do Monster Madness this year? It’s something on this site I’ve never truly followed because I was always either late to the show, or just wasn’t in the mood for it. This last year or so you’ve really gotten me into classic horror type stuff and can’t wait for it. No need to stress yourself out for it though, just have fun.
September 10, 2012 at 3:54 pm
Alright! Thanks James! Wouldn’t be October without Monster Madness!
September 10, 2012 at 4:37 pm
Oh, YES!
I love the October marathons. They’re awesome and they can be tiny little shorts, but it’s goodness for a month which wouldn’t be spooky for me otherwise.
September 10, 2012 at 4:57 pm
Glad you decided to stick with Monster Madness. Look forward to it every October for 3 years now.
September 10, 2012 at 4:58 pm
Not much of a halloween fan, but a great fan of monster madness nonetheless.
September 10, 2012 at 5:02 pm
This is great news! I can’t wait to see what the theme is this year and I hope you know how much the fans appreciate you doing this despite your schedule. The little simple videos to stave off our ravenous hunger are a nice snack but things like Monster Madness are a real special main course.
September 10, 2012 at 5:33 pm
I’m gladd. I can’t imagine October without Monster Madness.
September 10, 2012 at 5:57 pm
Fall is my favorite time of the year, Halloween is my favorite holiday (tied with Christmas, actually), and Monster Madness has become an indispensable part of the Autumn for me. This is cool news.
September 10, 2012 at 6:04 pm
That’s cool news…it would have sucked if you didn’t do it this year, as I have only recently been frequenting the site.
September 10, 2012 at 6:10 pm
This is truly some awesome news to hear. Last years monster madness was my first one. After the first few episodes I went back and watched every single installment from the previous years. I absolutely love this series and really appreciate you finding the time this year to make it happen! Keep up the awesome work James! I can’t wait for October.
September 10, 2012 at 6:28 pm
Do Ghostbusters I and II No they are not scary but it fits.
September 10, 2012 at 6:43 pm
I’m calling it: Gamera-thon! Now that every Gamera movie can be bought on DVD in North America in their original forms, & the 90s/Heisei Trilogy is on BD, James should totally do a Gamera-thon. As much as I enjoyed the more “traditional” horror movie reviews during Monster Madness, I simply loved the Godzilla-thon & it would only be proper to do a marathon for the green guy’s biggest non-Toho rival.
September 10, 2012 at 7:24 pm
OMFG ITS ALMOST TIME FOR MONSTER MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (you really dont know how good this news makes me feel) THANK YOU James for all the hard work and the love you share for halloween!
September 10, 2012 at 7:40 pm
Well…. I waited the entire year for this confirmation…
Best news all month
September 10, 2012 at 8:34 pm
Glad to hear it! I’ve been looking forward to MM since July or so hoping it would happen this year. You should find Joe Bob to do a cameo!
Congrats on all your success this year and thanks for the great content!
September 10, 2012 at 9:42 pm
James, this is one of your gold pieces of authenticity of your site. If you feel like youll halfass it, share the load with Mike. We like him too and wha-la, we get as many video reviews, you get your rest, Mike has some air time, everyone wins.
September 10, 2012 at 10:01 pm
I look forward to Monster Madness every year and major props for being able to push through and make it happen. Great to have you back James!
September 10, 2012 at 10:04 pm
Hell yeah! I would like to see you review some British horror film companies work. Maybe an awesome Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde movie with Christopher Lee called, I Monster by Amicus films, Tyburn films Legend of the Werewolf with Peter Cushing would be cool. Regardless, any Monster Madness videos are my favorite thing about Cinemassacre.
September 10, 2012 at 10:06 pm
An Overanalyzers episode dedicated to shitty movie monsters would be awesome.
September 10, 2012 at 10:46 pm
fuck yeah man me and my girlfriend love monster madness lemme slurp on that crazy dong. but really, thanks.
September 10, 2012 at 10:53 pm
Awesome news James, October just would not be the same with out it!!!
September 10, 2012 at 11:20 pm

jp
September 10, 2012 at 11:59 pm
So happy to hear that you’re doing Monster Madness this year! It always makes October that much better. Keep up the great work, James!
September 11, 2012 at 12:09 am
Fuck yeah , MM 2012 is gonna be the bomb…
September 11, 2012 at 12:58 am
Before Cinemassacre, Halloween was just some annoying time when I had to shoo kids away from my door. I didn’t much care for horror movies or anything kin to them, but finally, 27 years later, I’m a Halloween junkie and it’s all thanks to James. Keep changing lives, man.
September 11, 2012 at 1:10 am
You are my hero
September 11, 2012 at 1:11 am
James you’re awesome for keeping it up. Worried you will run out of movies worthy of review one day but let’s hope not!
September 11, 2012 at 1:21 am
Your Monster Madness videos are brilliant. I’ve learned more about horror and cinema history in general from watching them over the years. Keep em coming. Can’t wait for October
September 11, 2012 at 2:13 am
Gotta love being born in October (27). You always make me happy with Monster Madness before my birthday, Monster Madness is like, one of few video reviews, that i watch since first time, and still looking forward to watch. I hope in this year, you’ll make even greater videos, but it will be hard, since i think all of the Monster Madness videos are ones of the best videos you ever done.
September 11, 2012 at 2:47 am
thanks james
September 11, 2012 at 5:11 am
Thanks james, i celebrate the decision, but just dont stress yourself too much man
September 11, 2012 at 5:16 am
Your Monster Madness was what made me interested in horror movies, both old and new. Keep it up!
September 11, 2012 at 8:59 am
Hi James, I’m a fan of your work … of Argentina, well, look, you should know that there are a YouTube user, not if one is done by the videos, but this posting some videos very similar to yours, stole up to the song of your intro, here is a link you can see in the robbery as well to a picture of the joker batman your video … also copied to the nostalgia critic … but that’s another topic, someone who reports this youtube user … is a thief!
September 11, 2012 at 9:04 am
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUTKlcq6T6M… this is the motherfuker!!… kill him!
September 11, 2012 at 10:18 am
@metalero-a-220 I think “Kill him” is a bit harsh. But you’re right, he is stealing other people’s stuff to make his (comparatively poor quality) videos and should be reported for it. But why did you post this in the Monster Madness comments and not e-mail James directly?
September 11, 2012 at 10:32 am
Hell yes! I’ve been eagerly waiting to see if you would be able to do it this year. Monster Madness is easily my favorite series (all respect to the Nerd which I have been enjoying since the beginning).
September 11, 2012 at 10:32 am
Yes! I’ve been hoping you’d do one all year.
September 11, 2012 at 12:40 pm
YES!!! Monster Madness forever!!!!
September 11, 2012 at 12:51 pm
Fabulous! I was hoping to be able to follow Monster Madness this year by watching all the films you review throughout the month. So this news is very welcoming. Keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated.
September 11, 2012 at 3:11 pm
Monster madness. my favorite thing on cinemassacre.
September 11, 2012 at 4:01 pm
Monster Madness…Nobody reviews crap better than you. I can hardly wait to see what you have picked for this years line up! WOOO!!!
September 11, 2012 at 4:18 pm
my favorite thing to do in october, come home from work and watch the newest Monster Madness, have you thought about doing on on the House of the Long Shadows…good movie nearly impossible to get
September 11, 2012 at 4:35 pm
I’ve scrolled through your site and saw every monster madness, loved the crap out of them even though horror scares the living shit out of me.
Thanks for putting in the effort, and take the time to do them.
September 11, 2012 at 6:24 pm
sorry, im new… como puedo hacer para informarlo directamente? es que publique en donde pude primero… y estaba furioso, ya que este sujeto me segura que james es quien le roba las ideas… en su pagina de facebook: huerfano producciones.
anyone can help me?
September 11, 2012 at 6:27 pm
sorry, im new … and I can do to report it directly? is that post where I first … and was furious, because I sure this guy is james who steals ideas … on his Facebook page: huerfano producciones.
anyone can help me?…
sorry for the inconvenience of my comments where they have nothing to do
September 11, 2012 at 8:02 pm

September 11, 2012 at 8:08 pm
James, you are our hero
September 11, 2012 at 8:09 pm
I am so glad there is Monster Madness. October is not the same with out it. I’ve learned to love some of the movies James has mentioned during this time of the year!
September 11, 2012 at 8:58 pm
This is excellent news! I’m greatly anticipating Monster Madness. An economy size MM is just fine! Thanks James!
September 11, 2012 at 10:05 pm
its a shame so many kids are out of the circle.
September 11, 2012 at 10:32 pm
So So excited for this! This is my favorite time of the year.
September 11, 2012 at 10:57 pm
Great news because after watching that “Scary Moments” video it got me thinking about monster madness and really all things Halloween. Can’t wait.
September 11, 2012 at 11:02 pm
Thank you, James! Your Monster Madness videos are what attracted to me to this site. They are short but brilliantly narrated. This is something I look forward to every year!
September 11, 2012 at 11:40 pm
SWEET!!!
September 12, 2012 at 1:24 am
I wonder if James is going to focus on The Hammer ?
September 12, 2012 at 3:22 am
i want MM dvd’s to go with my nerd dvd’s.
September 12, 2012 at 5:09 am
JOY!
September 12, 2012 at 6:43 am
Wow. I thought for sure you would forego doing Monster Madness this year, what with all the work going into the movie. I’m impressed! You really are a workaholic, and your fans appreciate it! Just don’t work yourself to death!
September 12, 2012 at 6:56 am
Yes!! Monster Madness has been integral to October and Halloween the past few years.
September 12, 2012 at 7:45 am
I totally look forward to Monster Madness every year.
September 12, 2012 at 10:04 am
James you must run on energizer batteries.
September 12, 2012 at 11:03 am
Yeah, new Monster Madness – episodes! I am so happy! Because without it, Halloween could not be the same.
September 12, 2012 at 11:10 am
Good to know, maybe you can get Mike to review some horror games across multiple platforms. I’d love to see you review more horror comedies this year as well if possible. I’ve been watching a bunch and I’d like to see content based on that personally.
September 12, 2012 at 11:18 am
Glad you are going through with it. I have no issue with the format where the videos might be a little longer but less frequent. I find when you have a chance to really discuss a topic and sink your teeth into it for a while it ends up being a really great discussion, and you bring in tons of insight and details that normally might not pop up in one that is half the running length. It is those details I appreciate (as well as the humor, but short or long you always manage to slip that in).
And even if you re-use the old monster madness opening animations from a previous year (or cut a montage between the last few) instead of dedicating a ton of time animating a new one.. I appreciate what you are doing as I know between these videos and finishing off the many aspects of the film has you really insanely busy. Jees do you even game anymore?! (I do miss board james.. lol)
September 12, 2012 at 12:47 pm
I can’t wait James!
September 12, 2012 at 12:48 pm
THANKS JAMES WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 12, 2012 at 2:48 pm
Hey James if you need some help doing the intro voice for the videos and need a preety creepy one I could help
September 12, 2012 at 5:08 pm
I CAN’T WAIT FOR MONSTER MADNESS!!! JAMES YOU’RE THE BEST!
September 12, 2012 at 5:34 pm
dude please keep monster madness going for as long as possible, its the only good thing about fucktober
September 12, 2012 at 7:09 pm
Looking forward to Monster Madness, James! Thanks!
September 12, 2012 at 7:38 pm
Though I’d rather have a video to watch each day, especially in the morning with breakfast, I’d rather have this version of MM than no MM at all. Thanks for keeping October awesome.
Cheers.
September 12, 2012 at 9:12 pm
You should Review The Loved Ones, great aussie slash flick.
September 12, 2012 at 10:05 pm
You should review the 1986 cult classic “Night of the Creeps”,which is a kick-ass movie and probably the inspiration for James Gunn’s “Slither”,another kick-ass fuckin’ movie you should review as well, lol
September 12, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Hey, do what you can James. We all know you’re hard at work on so many things. Anything you put out will be appreciated and awesome as usual. Keep up the great work!
September 13, 2012 at 12:12 am
I’VE REGISTERED JUST TO POST THIS: PLEASE review more classic movies (pre-60′s ones). They’re my favorites.
September 13, 2012 at 12:14 am
Mike is awesome as well, don’t listen to all the QQ’ers.
Keep up the good work guys!
September 13, 2012 at 12:14 am
Also, you should do more movie commentaries like the White Zombie one (another Lugosi movie? that’d be awesome). That was the video that got me into the whole horror movie genre, ESPECIALLY the classic monster movies.
September 13, 2012 at 12:25 am
More screen time for Mike! Thanks!
September 13, 2012 at 6:22 am
Less videos, more length each? I’m in.
September 13, 2012 at 7:15 am
Your dedication is astounding, James! Keep up the good work.
September 13, 2012 at 9:42 am
Im looking forward to it. Thank for everything Mike and James.
September 13, 2012 at 10:44 am
Thanks James! Those are my favorite videos on cinemassacre! I’m really excited and waiting anxiously to see what movies you will review this time! I am sure this is really time consuming and more dificult this time since you said this year is being a though one for you, so thanks a lot for doing this to us cinemassacre fans! You guys are awesome!
September 13, 2012 at 11:15 am
I know it’s a lot to ask, but I’d be really grateful if you could post an Avgn episode during october.

September 13, 2012 at 4:14 pm
I don’t know how much I can thank you , James. Watching horrormovies is one of my hobbies and with Monster Madness , I learn some new great ones.
So I really want to give you new titles to watch , but what havent you seen?
Maybe the Lucio Fulci-movies? I’d love to see them this year.
Sorry for grammar
September 13, 2012 at 4:20 pm

September 13, 2012 at 10:02 pm
Please review “The Sinful Dwarf”
Thanks!
September 14, 2012 at 12:35 am
It means a lot for you to still try to keep it up even though you’ve been so busy. I know what it’s like – sometimes it would be so easy to throw your hands up and just put it to the side, but you know that it means a lot to your fans. I thoroughly appreciate you for that. I look forward to Monster Madness every year, and it never disappoints. Thank you James!
September 14, 2012 at 1:12 am
Looking forward to it James! And keep Mike on Youtube, he is doing a fine job keeping the channel active. (I also love his title cards for AVGN stuff) I really want to see the movie, and I’m also going to buy the full DVD set as a personal Christmas gift to myself and you. Cheers from an 18 year old in Canada! (Also, I landed the Top Gun plane 1st try, LOL.)
September 14, 2012 at 1:31 am
I have being waiting for this videos all year long since the previous Cinemassacre Monster Madness. I can understand you guys don’t making them this year, and the fact that you aren’t, i mean, you aren’t giving up on them this year it’s just fantastic. I don’t care about the length, as long as you guys had fun doing them i’m sure they’ll be awesome, so thank you very much for continuing the tradition : D.
September 14, 2012 at 3:18 am
Can you do Peter Jacksons earlier work. Bad Taste, Brain Dead!, Meet the Feebles and then frightners.
September 14, 2012 at 3:25 am
Wait Braindead is called, Dead Alive in the states I think! Please showcase this movie to the world James.
September 14, 2012 at 4:43 am
don’t worry about having to do a redux version of Monster Madness, i’m just glad you are doing it this year too, at this point i see it as a tradition (also, thanks because MM really sparked up my passion for this genre), but i understand is hard to keep on working on it, if you work, have a normal life and stuff, you have very little time for “extras” like this.
But it’s great to see you have a real passion for this, and even if you’re busy, you’re gonna do it anyways, in a way or another.
Btw, nice video to get in the halloween/MM mood already.
September 14, 2012 at 4:45 am
Sorry, the last line was about the Universal Monster Family video, wrote it here by error. XD
