Great review! Are you guys going to review The Room ever?
July 28, 2012 at 10:42 am
Put it on the app please!!!
July 28, 2012 at 11:28 am
meh i liked ghouies better!
July 28, 2012 at 11:52 am
I watched C.H.U.D. with my bud Jason back when we were young punks in the early 90s. I couldn’t remember anything about it except that I thought it was boring. This review has reminded me why. Cheers, Mike!

So, first James was saying that there’s no point in remaking popular movies since they are already good, then Mike says there’s no point in remaking non-popular moives because no one knows of them?
Why making remakes at all then? Make up your mind guys
July 28, 2012 at 2:28 pm
Well, keep in mind that James and Mike, until further notice, are two separate people with differing opinions. They both seem to agree, as do I and many other classic movie buffs, that classics shouldn’t be remade. I think James’ point was, if you’re GOING to remake an old film, at least do it with some obscure one that wasn’t very successful or good to begin with. Though in my personal opinion, even that has it’s limits. For instance, Plan 9 From Outer Space is universally considered one of the “worst movies ever made”, though it has it’s own charm, and it’s own cult following. I always say, if you enjoy something, it’s not “bad” after all. But to remake it with modern effects and modern technology, which I’m aware they’ve done and that James had a cameo in, I personally feel defeats the point of Plan 9 as a movie in the first place.
In general though, I do have to agree that I just don’t think movies should really be remade. ESPECIALLY not the classics that were actually perfect as they were.

Mike – I really enjoy your movie reviews, they are the spotlight of my internet entertainment during the week. Can you please review “Human Centipede” ? It seems to have horrible reviews, and I mostly ignored it.. but recently I was in a room full of people discussing it and one girl had to run out of the room at the mention of the title! How crazy is that? Maybe it’s ripe for a realistic review and not just hype.
July 28, 2012 at 2:50 pm
Awesome review Mike, I actually did my own review on this a couple weeks ago and totally agree with what you said. All I wanted to see was monsters eat people but NOPE! Still planning on skipping Bud the Chud.
Here was my take on it:
July 28, 2012 at 2:52 pm
Why would anyone want to remake this movie? Maybe because the world is bigger than your opinion.
Listen, I get that not everyone is going to like movies like this one, but C.H.U.D. is considered a cult classic… which you failed to mention. There is a lot of comedy in the movie as well… which you failed to show. Easy to make your point when you don’t even show all the elements of the movie you are putting down.
Again, this movie is not for everyone, but this is one of the worst reviews that this site has posted yet. Please, just let James do this from now on. At least when he doesn’t like something that I do, he makes valid points as to why he doesn’t like it.
July 28, 2012 at 3:05 pm
When are you going to review videogames based movies?? ive been waiting that for almost a decade! i want to see your reviews of Super Mario Bros the movie, Street Fighter the movie, Mortal Kombat, etc. Please guys, do it soon.
July 28, 2012 at 3:06 pm
By the way, that Son_Of_Jack_Deth that just posted before me is a real asshole…
July 28, 2012 at 3:09 pm
Wow, what is wrong with some these people who post comments? some of you guys take the reviews too seriously. Why get so sensitive over a movie review. son _of-Jackrelax it is only a a guy’s opinion – relax. also, what is with people like Devil Rising who post long-winded comments. Comments are brief, not paragraphs.
July 28, 2012 at 3:25 pm
i stop watching a movie 20 mins in if its sucks and boring
July 28, 2012 at 4:57 pm
Classics should never be remade in my opinion. However, there is one good thing I could say about it, and that it exposes the newer audience. Believe me there are people who never saw Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm street who thought those were original and thanks to the internet they discovered the older versions and come to enjoy those more. So that’s pretty much it other that, everything remade only makes the movie look like shit. Now as far James comment about “If your gonna remade a movie, at least do an obscure movie”. Although I respect Mike and James opinions, I think Rob Zombie should have remade C.H.U.D I mean honestly I never heard about this movie but that’s only because I was born in 93′. So if the the movie itself is boring maybe a remake can do something to make it more interesting that way the C.H.U.D series can be an actual good series. I thought the first movie had good ideas about the monster but yeah less camera time makes it boring, although a remake is questionable seeing how if this movie is remade then it’s most likely gonna be all CGI. And we “ALL” know how amazing CGI is.
July 28, 2012 at 5:08 pm
Loll…. When you get a Good movie and someone remakes it you’re mad because it’s bad, for once someone remakes a movie that was bad so the plot that was basically good is remade into something more decent… that’s logical to me
July 28, 2012 at 5:09 pm
if rob would’ve actually remade de chud i mean
July 28, 2012 at 6:15 pm
the first chud film sucks because it has horrible fucking pacing. The first time I watched it, I fell asleep before the chud even makes its onscreen debut
I am so glad that I havent been subjected to the second one. It looks fucking horrible and stupid.
July 28, 2012 at 6:37 pm
You need to make another Board James.
July 28, 2012 at 7:27 pm
I really like CHUD. Lots of top quality actors such as that guy from The Wizard, and that guy from Frankenweenie. I was never really disappointed with the lack of creatures and gore since the whole hippy-takes-the-law-into-his-own-hands scenes were so much more appealing.
July 28, 2012 at 8:03 pm
The monsters actually look good in C.H.U.D, but yes. Ultimately it is a bore. Then the second one is a complete comedy that really has nothing to do with the first. I could see remaking the first film, mainly because it was not that obscure back in the day and they did good promoting it showing a scene where a woman was dragged into the sewers in the trailers. The movie just did not have enough to offer, get someone who has a warped mind and knows that a pregnancy plot point and zero monsters in the final act of a monster film is a bad idea and I think it could be a pretty good film. If they do not make the C.H.U.D’s obviously CGI, which they probably will so skip it.
July 28, 2012 at 8:31 pm
I reckon they should remake movies that have a GOOD premise, but for what ever reason at the time, shitty dialog, low budget, bad acting or whatever resulted in the movie licking balls. BUT still the core premise was good…
Like take C.H.U.Ds premise, that human toxic waste being thrown into to sewer has spawned mutents evolved from our waste (Discarded Feaces and tech alike). maybe maybe creating high tech cybornectic shit monsters!
Now go and re make that movie.
July 28, 2012 at 9:15 pm
I agree with Son_of_Jack_Deth. Mike seems like a nice guy, but he just doesn’t make very good reviews. He isn’t funny, his jokes are very juvenile, his reviews don’t seem very focused, and he constantly repeats things he already said. I don’t want to be overly harsh but his reviews are a little irritating to me. I just watch them because each time I’m hoping that, with experience, he can make better reviews, but he so often doesn’t. James is just so much more natural.
Also I would much prefer for them to remake cult classics rather than movies like Psycho.
July 28, 2012 at 9:40 pm
Whoa whoa whoa… C.H.U.D. kicks ass. Not to mention the DVD commentary for it is hilarious. A horror movie can be more than monsters killing people for an hour and a half, you know.
July 28, 2012 at 10:45 pm
Nice movie review, Mike. Now I know what the hell a CHUD is.
July 29, 2012 at 12:14 am
I’m digging Fulci’s “Zombi 2″ theme at the beginning of this review.
I love that track!
July 29, 2012 at 12:17 am
Dude! Now you’re using the opening theme from Day of the Dead.
What, were you on a zombie kick when coming up with the ambient music for this review?
July 29, 2012 at 1:00 am
I must say I don’t understand how so many movies like this were made at all. Everyone in hollywood in the 80′s was on some seriously good cocaine.
The Dr. has spoken.
July 29, 2012 at 2:58 am
This Springboard player is horrible. I can’t watch it.
July 29, 2012 at 3:13 am
Okay, while the first one looks like a horror flick that tried and failed, that second one didn’t even look like it tried.
They took the name of another horror movie that had nothing to do with it, and then made it a whacky comedy minus being funny? That’s even worse than a failed horror movie.
July 29, 2012 at 4:01 am
HilamQ brings up a good point that I failed to mention… that Mike seems like a very nice guy, and he probably is. So I would like to amend that I do not dislike him as a person, just as a reviewer.
Also, my comment about the remake is not in hopes of a remake, I was just referencing that Mike is ignoring other people’s love of the movie.
Again, if he hates it, that’s fine. But this review attempts to say there is nothing for anyone to enjoy, and the fact is, he is wrong. The monsters look incredible. Many of the performances in the film are a blast. Plus there is some very funny satire going on in this film. If he had at least covered those aspects (as he has in the past when he praises some really awful films he likes) it would at least been a fair review.
July 29, 2012 at 4:59 am
The CHUD’s in the first movie do look awesome. The problem is that you hardly see them.
July 29, 2012 at 5:42 am
Yeah, shitty horror movies were all the fad at my local video store in the mid ’90s. I’m pretty sure they had CHUD as well, because I remember seeing that creepy creature from somewhere. Still, I’m glad I didn’t rent it back then… looks boring as cow droppings.
Oh btw, how do you get a profile picture up like Mike has?
July 29, 2012 at 6:30 am
haven’t seen the second one yet, but I gotta say i personal enjoy the first CHUD.
If nothing else I guess it’s watching it with commentary, which basically consists of Daniel Stern(who also helped write it) and the dad from Home Alone, just bashing the movie and making cracks about how awful it is
July 29, 2012 at 11:05 am
I disagree Mike, C.H.U.D seems like the perfect movie to remake
It has an enormous amount of potential in the idea and characterization, but doesn’t need to live up to the original like most remakes
Remaking say, Nightmare on Elm Street will always go down since it’ll never be as good as the original, C.H.U.D on the other hand could be brilliant, same with that Vulture movie which James reviewed
July 29, 2012 at 11:18 am
I JUST watched C.H.U.D. a few weeks ago, and thought, (why hasn’t Motherfucker Mike reviewed this yet” …
… well, slap my grits ….
July 29, 2012 at 2:30 pm
I will give you that Mike, as a monster fan myself I would have enjoyed seeing them more.
July 29, 2012 at 2:42 pm
A Rob Zombie remake of CHUD would be awesome! Would you rather him re-make an already awesome movie, like Halloween, and make an okay version, or take a piece of shit and re-make it into something better?
July 29, 2012 at 4:23 pm
While C.H.U.D II looks like a ridiculous movie it at least looks entertaining. You want to review a BAD movie try Melancholia. What a boring piece of garbage that was.
July 29, 2012 at 9:20 pm
“Oh btw, how do you get a profile picture up like Mike has?”
You don’t, they are not currently enabled for the basic users in the wordpress control panel.
July 29, 2012 at 9:37 pm
Isn’t that “recent” Simpsons episode about 15 years old?
July 30, 2012 at 4:14 am
marv the wet bandit and the photographer were both in home alone one and 2. The photographer who is havin the baby wit that blonde is kevins dad in home alone
July 30, 2012 at 4:19 am
ok mike i have to say that was really stupid wat u said. Why would anyone want to remake a movie. O idunno to make it better. The chud was a good idea and rob zombie could have made it into a good creepy ass movie. I dont understand why u would even as such a question
July 30, 2012 at 5:15 am
‘Chudified’ is a play on ‘zombified’? That’s really quite an assertion and I can’t see how you could possibly be so sure (and you do seem sure; there’s no ‘I think…’ or ‘probably…’). This happens with a number of nouns and adjectives.
July 30, 2012 at 5:35 am
Ghoulies IV music in the background. I can’t believe I actually noticed this.
July 30, 2012 at 11:19 am
Could you please review a movie called Hobo with a Shotgun? It’s awesome .
July 30, 2012 at 12:46 pm
James or Mike should do a review of “THE STUFF”.
July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm
I second “The STuff”, it is a bit like C.H.U.D in that there are a few stars of note in it and it isn’t nearly as boring. In fact, it is a rather fun horror movie.
July 31, 2012 at 5:21 am
Oh no, it won’t buffer! :’(
August 1, 2012 at 5:03 pm
The Gaslight Anthem! Whoooooooooooooo!
August 2, 2012 at 11:43 pm
u should do the jaws sequels they are the worst!!!!!
August 3, 2012 at 2:27 pm
Those CHUD movies don’t seem very worthwhile. The CHUDs in the first one look awesome, but apparently you hardly ever see them, and the movie is boring. The second one looks like more fun, but the CHUDs look lame in that one.
I thought CHUD 2 actually would have been more funny if it was another one of those “hide the monster” type movies. I’m thinking along the lines of Harry and the Hendersons. The idea of a goofy, lovable zombie that some people adopt sounds pretty good.
August 4, 2012 at 7:42 pm
The Gorillaz did a song on there first album called M1A1 and in the beginning is that song, and someone screaming “hello, is anyone there,” as least I think its from this movie but either way I heard that beginning part in this video and assumed it came from this movie. I always thought it was from like Day of the Dead or something.
August 5, 2012 at 4:51 am
Pimps vs Chuds?
August 6, 2012 at 4:27 am
the M1A1 “HELLO” is from day of the dead ,
wow i was always planning on watching this film but im not now thanks for sparing me some wasted time mike lol
August 7, 2012 at 2:15 am
Nice use of the theme from Lucio Fulci’s Zombie. I like the cover version.
August 7, 2012 at 9:13 pm
Talk about real stinkers of film, P.U.!
August 9, 2012 at 11:18 am
Love your reviews…
However I am a little disappointed that you would be unhappy with a C.H.U.D. remake, because it is too obscure.
I guess you are more the fan of the unnecessary mainstream remakes like Spider-man, Total Recall, and the Karate Kid.
Your buddy James has the right idea… They should only remake crappy movies… Why mess with classics!
August 11, 2012 at 4:38 am
You’re unhappy Rob Zombie would remake some piece of crap nobody cares about? Others complain about remakes of good movies, like why make a remake it, if didn’t suck?
One reason I’d remake it, would be out of disappointment, and show what I wished it would’ve been.
September 23, 2012 at 4:00 am
His reasoning is flawed, but Mike has a point. Why bother remaking the CHUDs? They’re ultimately just glorified zombies of the “toxic waste” variety, with nothing substantial to differentiate them. Something stories simply aren’t worth retelling.
November 8, 2012 at 12:06 pm
For some reason the chuds in the first movie make me want to play the Dead Money dlc in FNV… Great reviews, Mike.
January 6, 2013 at 2:16 am
I will say that the DVD commentary for “C.H.U.D.” is pretty entertaining; I think the viewer/listener gets the impression that the rnd film wasn’t what John Heard, Daniel Stern, and Christopher Curry signed up for. Overall though, the film is very dull.
