AVGN Movie Update
Mike / May 25th, 2012
May 25, 2012 at 9:06 pm
What about people who don’t live in America, but live in Canada?
May 25, 2012 at 9:20 pm
You seem refreshed to be home. Mike did an excellent job while you were away. I am glad you had a positive experience. and look forward to the fruits of your labor.
May 25, 2012 at 9:21 pm
Awesome updates James!!! Can’t wait for the movie and new AVGN!
May 25, 2012 at 9:27 pm
Living in Oblivion. Wow, if you ran into those kind of problems then I commend you sir. You gottta have a lot of faith in the dude holding the boom mic.
May 25, 2012 at 9:29 pm
First, i have to say i’m glad everything is going smoothly James. About the AVGN episode, i would rather you get Monster Madness done before the episode. We’ve been without an episode for some time so a few more months aren’t gonna be an issue, Monster Madness though that’s something that happens once a year and i also cannot see October without it. At least for me watching Monster Madness has become like a ritual for me, along side watching some horror movies (i watch one horror movie each day of October). I know this may sound selfish but i would rather have Monster Madness than an AVGN episode, would be awesome to have both but with everything you have going on i would be best if you don’t take on so many projects at the same time, unless you’re 100% sure you can do them without any kind of drawbacks/issues
May 25, 2012 at 9:31 pm
This year, I think Monster Madness should cover films dealing with possession. People possessed by ghosts, demons, turned into mindless zombies, etc.
May 25, 2012 at 9:32 pm
Monster Madness; instead of doing a month, maybe a week? 5 days? Top Ten? Anyhow, for the remainder of October, I recommend having fan-submitted videos with clips\history\discussion. I think everyone who loves Monster Madness has had an idea for a single or series of videos. So we should make that ourselves. Maybe you and Mike can hand pick what you like and showcase a new one each day. And anyone else who participated can get links placed on a thank-you-for-participating-page on Halloween.
May 25, 2012 at 9:33 pm
first of all james you inspired me to make films im about to write a double feature more of a double short. would your fans in new zealand be able to buy the movie on this site? anyway you can make more features we all know you can good luck!!!!!
May 25, 2012 at 9:34 pm
please please PLEASE let there be CINEMASSACRE’S MONSTER MAAAAADDDDNESSSSSSSSSS!!!! I look forward to it every year, and there’s so many great/shitty horror movies you haven’t talked about yet! There isn’t much respect out there for horror movies, and you’re the man for celebrating them every year!
May 25, 2012 at 9:41 pm
Awesome Job James can’t wait to see it sounds like you and Kevin put alot of time and hard work into it looked like he was along side with you the whole time. Nice to see some feedback for people who want to make movies. @ Omar James said it will be released international Dvd most likely I live in Canada too I’m sure we will be able to see the movie if not order it off the site. Excited to see some new content from the nerd some video reviews will be well worth the long wait thanks again for the update.
May 25, 2012 at 9:42 pm
Video Game reviews i mean.
May 25, 2012 at 9:47 pm
So James, how bad did Mike fuck up your house? lol jk. Can’t wait for another AVGN/Board James!
May 25, 2012 at 9:53 pm
Great update on the movie, I’ve sent it out to a few friends who do movies and I think they would enjoy it too
Just wondering with the AVGN episodes are you going to start making them after the movie is released? (Been hanging for a new one)
May 25, 2012 at 9:55 pm
your movie is gonna be great james keep up the good work. i cant wait for another avgn
May 25, 2012 at 9:58 pm
James when the movie is up and ready, i own a local cinema, and you can show the movie there. It is in Miami,FL. Free of charge of course.
May 25, 2012 at 10:06 pm
I’m glad to hear that you will do more AVGN reviews, cause there’s tons of other hard or bad video games out there to review. Whatever game you choose to review, I’ll be looking forward to it.
May 25, 2012 at 10:07 pm
Thanks for the update. I’ve been checking every day since you got back, so it’s nice to see.
When you say DVD, do you mean just DVD or do you also hopefully mean Blu-Ray? I mean, you did shoot in HD, so a Blu-Ray version would be great.
Also showed one of your videos to a friend who was visiting. He seemed to enjoy it, so hopefully you’ve got another fan there.
Good luck with getting everything sorted out with the film. Congratulations on getting to this point in your career. It’s pretty cool to see.
May 25, 2012 at 10:11 pm
So he said they may do a tour, at some theaters maybe. Does that mean you will have a print on actual 35mm film? Or will use a dvd and projector?
May 25, 2012 at 10:12 pm
Hope to see you at ConBravo.
May 25, 2012 at 10:17 pm
Can you make the movie downloadable?
May 25, 2012 at 10:18 pm
James i got a question is about makeing a movie script and my movie script has a back story to introducing a villain but the villain is not evil in the back story so how could i make the villain not so obvious like something not too cliche
May 25, 2012 at 10:21 pm
hey your movie will be in canadian teaters? will it be translate? will it suck? will it become the worst hamster shit of all time? give me no details
May 25, 2012 at 10:24 pm
Nice to have you back James, you fuckfart!
May 25, 2012 at 10:25 pm
I can’t wait for all the hardcore movie “fans” to be pissed off that you didn’t inject a ton of CGI into every minute of the movie. Looking at some of the shots, the nerd looks way different with those glasses, I’d love for that to be the new look for every new AVGN episode.
What one scene took the most number of takes to film? Was it a funny or serious moment where the actors were trying to hold in their laughter, or was there any technical difficulty that forced a dozen or whatever takes of one scene? If it spoils a key moment in the movie then it can be answered in the DVD ( or bluray?) release.
As for monster madness, if time gets way too packed I’d suggest one video per week leading up to Halloween night. Each one could be a series retrospective, pretty much how last year was with one movie series each week.
In any case, congratulations on the movie. Did you write down the time spent each day like you logged for the AVGN episodes? I’d like to see a list that showed the total hours, and the big “editing – 490 hours” final tally.
May 25, 2012 at 10:28 pm
James,
Great to see you back. Making your dreams true is very inspiring to a lot of people (including myself). I hear a lot of honesty in your words, keep your great work!
And fuck those squirrels xD , use them to knock off those fucking lions
Greetings from Chile, South America
May 25, 2012 at 10:29 pm
And WOW, using animatronics will have a very good reception, those fucking CG characters really sucks
May 25, 2012 at 10:29 pm
Here’s a question, though it has nothing to do with AVGN The Movie.
When you first announced the AVGN movie, you said you also wanted to do a scary horror film and a funny horror film. Do you still intend to do that or has your time in Hollywood killed those dreams?
May 25, 2012 at 10:30 pm
good to see the nerd is back in the hq
do you deliver the movie to germany too??!!
think so but i wanna get sure i not had to download
it from any filehoster…. naaahhh just kidding
also i would like to know… is there a chance to win a signed
copy of the movie when its released?
since i life in germany its hard to meet you at
events to get an autograph
greetings from germany
May 25, 2012 at 10:31 pm
Awsome James.. i cant wait to see the movie!!! and more AVGN episodes. keep up the good work.
May 25, 2012 at 10:33 pm
QUESTION: What do you think of Mike’s work while you were away, and his repeated use of saying “Genesis Does, What Nintendon’t”?
Will Mike still be making game videos?
May 25, 2012 at 10:36 pm
You’re going to love Canada! We have plastic $50 and $100 bills (and soon the $20, $10 and $5 are going plastic as well). Just come here in the summer, winter is a bad idea… If your movie comes to any theater in Montreal you can have all my money! I look forward to all your future achievements. Good luck with everything.
May 25, 2012 at 10:38 pm
You didn’t mention Comic Con as one of the conventions you were going to. I know you have gone to it for the past few years so I was wondering if you were going to it this year as well.
May 25, 2012 at 10:47 pm
This was probably answered before somewhere else, if yes I apologize for not doing research: Will we see Nostalgia Critic in the movie? Not full length obviously, but I expect a piece since I’m a big fan of both for many years now, it would blow my mind.
Also thanks Mike for keeping us entertained while James was gone, that was really nice of you.
P.S. You went up on my list of “Gotta meet” people, you’re next to Eddie Vedder. \o/
May 25, 2012 at 10:48 pm
I live in Greece. I love ANGN and admire James Rolfe and the team behind AVGN and Cinemassacre. I’d love to hear people talking about this movie. It’s a movie the production of which i’ve been watching since the begining. You sould try to present it in some european film festival. There should be one that could support such movie (you know, without strange, hidden meanings, depicting the relationship that could develop between people, using only two or less collors…. that shit) . This way it could attract attension of my (and other European) country’s local media, and perhaps play in some local theatres.
May 25, 2012 at 10:51 pm
Keep up the great work James!
May 25, 2012 at 10:51 pm
Ba da da da da da! IM HYPED AS EVER!
I’ve been kind of losing intrest in cinemassacre latley, which is something to say as I’ve been following it since 2010. But I’m sure it’s gonna be worth the wait! Also, please, get it released SOMEHOW other than DVD in Australia. Us Aussies over here need our AVGN shit man! especially me.
Just wanna say thanks for bringing me back to the past so I can watch the nerd rage at the shitty games that suck ass.
-Your friend, Awe
May 25, 2012 at 10:56 pm
NO. WHY BURLINGTON?!

May 25, 2012 at 11:01 pm
I hope this years Monster Madness is like great horror classics that don’t get enough recognition or most Underrated original /great horror films or something like that. But I have faith in your judgement James. But yeah, you doing all this just for the fans. What more can a fan ask for? All I can say is thanks for all the years of entertainment, I hope many good things and more have come in your lifetime in result of all this. I can’t wait, \when that Movie is ready to set in release, the first thing I’m gonna do is shit myself and skyrocket to the moon.
May 25, 2012 at 11:03 pm
Dude, if you could tour with the movie, and come to somewhere in Ohio that would be amazing! Because not only would I get to see the movie, but I could see it in the presence of The Nerd himself!
May 25, 2012 at 11:10 pm
Welcome Home too Phila James, and hope U had a blast out there in Hollywood.. I know it was hard sacrifice for U.. I also glad U didn’t disappoint.. No matter what happens I gonna see Ur movie.. No matter what Platform, Theather or DVD.. Watch too much of Ur stuff not too see the movie.. =]
May 25, 2012 at 11:12 pm
WELCOME BACK JAMES!!!!!!!
Sure is nice to see ya back in the nerd room. I am a bit taken aback by the fact that you are expecting a Summer 2013 release, but don’t rush it. Glad you had a great time and I look forward to LOTS of videos in the VERY NEAR future.
Board James, OverAnalyzers, anything from Mike, and I would love if you did your own Mailbag segment away from ScrewAttack.
May 25, 2012 at 11:19 pm
Thanks so much for the update! Monster Madness is something I look forward to all year! If there is anything I can do to make sure this continues in 2012, post it here! Thanks for your dedication to your fans and thanks to your love of film making! Looking forward to seeing the results of all your hard work in L.A.! I know it couldn’t have been easy but thanks for your personal sacrifice and look forward to the final result!
May 25, 2012 at 11:20 pm
I don’t have a question but I would just like to say that it is great to have you back. I’m glad that everything went good out in LA and I’m looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out. You mentioned that you will be working on a new AVGN episode and possibly a Board James episode….THANK YOU!!! I’ve been going through withdrawals sense you’ve been gone. I’ve probably watched every AVGN episode at least 5 times in the last couple month’s, along with Board James, and That’s Bullshit. With that said it will be great to finally get a few new episodes of those to watch. Mike has done a great job sense you’ve been gone with movie & game reviews and other things to keep us all watching. I appreciate all the work he has put in keeping Cinemassacre going and giving us all new material to watch 2-3 times a week. Any way I’m happy your back as I’m sure everyone else is too. Can’t wait to see a new AVGN episode, keep up the good work.
May 25, 2012 at 11:20 pm
Did you film in HD? If you did, is a Blu-Ray release in the cards? Hell is a Blu-Ray release possible anyway?
If you’re shooting for a Summer 2013 release, we’d love to have you in Phoenix for the Phoenix ComiCon in late May!
May 25, 2012 at 11:34 pm
Nice to see you back James !
May 25, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Now that I think about it, I do have a question. Is Mike still going to be making video’s for Cinemassacre now that you are home? If he is going to continue to make video’s will they still be released every Monday like they have been over the past few month’s? Keep up all the good work James, me and all the other fans support you in every project you work on. Can’t wait to see some new material, it’s good to have you home.
May 25, 2012 at 11:43 pm
Thanks for all the hard work James. I admire you, and wish I could get to the place you are, just creating and enjoying your career. Someday.
It’s going to be really hard for you to do any videos, especially Monster Madness, with all the work you still have left to do on the film. But you surprised me with just how much stuff you got done last year ahead of moving to CA, so whatever you manage to produce for us will be more than enough.
I hope it doesn’t take till next year for the AVGN movie to release, but no matter how long it takes, it’ll be worth the wait.
May 25, 2012 at 11:44 pm
Welcome back from L.A. !! It hasn’t been the same without an AVGN episode, but I must say that having Mike doing his Monday movie reviews has been quite fun, so I was wondering if he will continue doing them?
Ah, I can’t believe 4 months and you have most of the movie already filmed!! Quite pleased to hear that and I look forward to the finished product (not to mention my behind-the-scenes dvd!!)!! If you do do the tour, may I suggest Florida? More specifically the Orlando area… Since there are tons of people there… That’s why… And if you wanna make another movie, it’s good here too… Granted the weather can be iffy, but lately it’s been behaving!! (o^.^)b
As for any other questions… Will your wife continue to add her written thoughts on Cinemassacre or was that only for the time you were away? There weren’t many, but they were fun to read (^.^) Also, for those who donated enough, the promised copy of the script: will that be delivered before the movie is released, as in a day it’s scheduled to come out, or will be sent out the same day as the movie is released? I ask mostly because, if possible, I’d like to be a nerd and follow along the film to the script ahahah (^.^;;)
Thanks for your hard work !! I just love AVGN and I know this movie will be fantastic !!
May 25, 2012 at 11:44 pm
Hi James I just registered to tell you this and I hope you receive message. I currently work for AMC Theaters and we do show independent films at all of our locations I did some research on how they do this all you have to do is submit your film for consideration if considered AMC would contact you back so once the film is done and you have a screener I hope you submit your film. you can find more details here http://www.amctheatres.com/programs/independent/submit-your-film
I’m sure many of your fans including myself would love to see you get a wide of a release as possible.
best of luck with finishing your film cant wait to see it
May 25, 2012 at 11:51 pm
Thank you for finally coming to Cananda! I’m totally coming. Is it going to be a Q&Q? Thanks.
May 26, 2012 at 12:03 am
hey james;
are you coming to PAX prime in seattle this year?
thanks
steja
May 26, 2012 at 12:05 am
Welcome back James!!!! i cant wait for that behind the scenes video and a new AVGN!!! and of course the awesome movie that you and your crew are making for the delight of our hearts!
May 26, 2012 at 12:14 am
Oh how I always hate the “when its done” statement in film making, but I have high hopes for the film! Keep it up James!
Oh and my question is what is your favorite type of pie and do you feel having an extra arm would come in handy?
May 26, 2012 at 12:15 am
keep it up james ^.^
May 26, 2012 at 12:16 am
Hey James,
Did working on the movie give you a kinda renewed since of inspiration with the Nerd character.
BTW can’t wait to help contribute in purchasing the DVD. Hope this becomes a profitable endeavor for all your hard work on both the film and over the years.
May 26, 2012 at 12:23 am
nice to see more updates of the movie, i want to really see this movie but there is 1 broblem i live in europe and its pretty hard to get the dvd here cause all the postal things so i would love to get digital download of it so we would get it much easier here in europe
May 26, 2012 at 12:25 am
So fuckin’ happy to have you back on cinemassacre. Make sure to include Mike on a cameo in the movie!
May 26, 2012 at 12:27 am
Hey James,
Awesome updates, I can’t wait for this movie! Highest anticipated future film along with The Dark Knight Rises! I appreciate you uploading videos even though you’re obviously super busy at the moment. You’re the man.
I was just wondering when you and Kevin sat down to write the movie, did you guys go back and watch individual AVGN videos to try and capture certain classic nerd things and lines or did you guys just trust yourselves and write from what you know and love about the character and not look back at any of the videos? I find this to be the most challenging aspect of making a movie based on an established thing. Thanks for all the hard work, James!
May 26, 2012 at 12:42 am
Wooo! Glad to see you back and that you made it safely. Can’t wait to see the movie when it’s finally done and definitely can’t wait for some new AVGN videos in the mean time. Good luck with the rest of development!
May 26, 2012 at 12:44 am
Home sweet home, eh? Hope you get some good, long sleep before working on the rest of the movie. Good luck, and take care.
May 26, 2012 at 12:44 am
Hey James! My name is Sergio Badillo, and I can’t tell you how glad I am by seeing you accomplishing every objective you have in your life and every step to achieve your whole life’s dream. I’ve seen recently your 200 Cinemassacre film and I now realize how great it must have been for you achieving such a goal as making a ‘BIg Scale Film’ as you calledl it, so deepest congratulations for that. But as well as to greet you I’d like to offer my services as Sound Engineer and Musical Producer. I don’t know if I could ever help you, because I live outside the US (as you might think for my lack of good writing). But if I could help you in any way, in editing, making the foley, mixing, mastering, in 2.0 or 5.1 or whatever activity related to Sound Engineering… please contact me and let me know about it, at laxerton@gmail.com. Thanks for every laugh you’ve ever got out off me and keep the accomplishments coming!
May 26, 2012 at 12:53 am
Yay, new AVGNs on the way. =)
May 26, 2012 at 12:56 am
As far as Board James go can I suggest Axis and Allies. I have many fond memories of this game with friends but dear God did it take forever to play.
Also I donated to the movie but I recently changed my email, is there a way I can still get the behind the scenes vid?
May 26, 2012 at 12:58 am
Will this be released on Blu-Ray?
If not, it’s no big deal.
Also, does Mike get much screen time in this movie?
Is he in it?
May 26, 2012 at 1:21 am
There’s gonna be robots, zombies and even a freaking TANK in the movie?! Awesomesauce.
May 26, 2012 at 1:22 am
Welcome back from Hollyweird,….hope all is well.
-waiting for the movie with a fist full of popcorn.
May 26, 2012 at 1:25 am
Awesome news James! Glad the shooting went well. Really excited to see new AVGN after all these months. And PLEASE go back to doing more You Know What’s Bullshit. I miss those.
May 26, 2012 at 1:33 am
will it be in stores worldwide or in screwattack store with international shipping?
May 26, 2012 at 1:41 am
Man filming in Los Angles is such a catch 22. It’s damned expensive , but you get the professionals and the weather. I live in L.A. and yeah its crazy but there is nowhere else where so many people know there stuff.
May 26, 2012 at 1:54 am
I was wondering if Mike was going to make a cameo in the movie? If not, you should have a 5 or 10 minute mini video of him at the end of the movie or as a bonus scene on the dvd.
While you’re away in L.A, Mike’s having some fun at the AVGN house. He sleeps in your bed, moves your stuff around, sells some games for hookers, fixes your Jaguar cd then breaks before you come home, has a house party, eats your food, snoops through your unmentionables and other things with hilarious results. Then end it with you arriving home not knowing about anything that happened while you were gone!
May 26, 2012 at 1:56 am
You need to use eventful.com (what Paranormal Activity used) to have people sign up to get a screening of the movie in their city/town.
Also I see there are things like distribber.com (that Indiegogo runs) that let you sell the movie digitally on ITunes/Amazon and/or stream on Hulu/Netflix in HD. It looks like that costs about $2700 on distribber for all that. They claim you keep 100% of what they get from those services after that fee on distribber. Obviously you’d need a lawyer to go through all that and to make sure you retain distribution rights, etc. That’s something to look at if a traditional film distributor doesn’t pick up your movie. People are definitely going to want other options beyond DVD (and I hope there’s Blu-Ray too).
Also, you could go through a service like Tunecore or CDBaby to sell the movie soundtrack on ITunes/Amazon, have it on spotify, etc. I’ve got some good friends who have a band in Nashville (they’ve been working with John Carter Cash) and that’s one of the ways they’ve sold their latest album.
May 26, 2012 at 2:13 am
Hi James
I’ve been a huge fan sinse like four years from now and i wantes to say first that you’re awesome.
I was wondering about international release. The worst part is that i live in Spain and i don’t know if will be able to read the DVD because of region protection.
Anyways, have you tried to submitting it to sites like Netflix, Voddler or even Steam?
May 26, 2012 at 2:27 am
Come to Norway aswell.
Bergen international film festival

May 26, 2012 at 3:08 am
Welcome back James! Good’tah hear from you again!
May 26, 2012 at 3:17 am
Question: Are you going to critique movies differently, now that you made your own first big movie?
May 26, 2012 at 3:29 am
Third!! Oh man I can’t wait to see this film. I think all us fans have ants in the pants
May 26, 2012 at 3:55 am
Burlington? I’m from Welland, Ontario! Maybe a half hour drive! I might come see you man! That being said, I would LOVE more episodes of “You know whats bullshit”, but Board James would be fantastic, as well as more AVGN! Pretty much anything you do would be great! Glad you had a blast in LA, must have been amazing being able to live your dream, awesome man!
May 26, 2012 at 4:06 am
When the AVGN movie comes out will it be released on Finland theaters?
May 26, 2012 at 4:33 am
what a nice guy you are, james. you must have some nice parents or good genes or something. You are hardworking, have humility and integrity. Your character alone merits success, but you are so prolific and dedicated to your fans that I am certain you will be a big name in film direction one day. Your wisdom shared in this video is inspiring and makes the task of filmaking seem far less intimidating . Thank you for giving us so much for free!
May 26, 2012 at 5:04 am
You’re visibly happy in this video.
As for me, I’m super excited for the movie!
May 26, 2012 at 5:27 am
Hey James,
Can’t wait for when your movie is released, and I have a question.
If you were given an unlimited budget to make your current movie would there be any changes you’d make and why?
May 26, 2012 at 5:36 am
James, please seriously consider distributing your movie among European cinemas. You have a huge fan support in this continent. Greetings from Lithuania.
May 26, 2012 at 5:36 am
Congrats on getting back home. Can’t wait to see the final product.
As far as theater showings and whatnot for the movie, have you tried talking to Kevin Smith? His SmodCo company supposedly is meant for smaller Indie type releases. Just thought I’d let you know if you haven’t heard it yet.
May 26, 2012 at 5:41 am
So glad that the shoot went well. Amazing stuff. just from the pics in your video it looks ace. The fact that ur still trying to do your other vids is great. but don’t burnt yourself out mate. Im sure most understanding people will unstand they need to wait maybe a little longer due to u having 4months making a full film.

Keep up the great work
May 26, 2012 at 5:44 am
You mentioned DVD, but what about a Blu-ray release?
May 26, 2012 at 6:00 am
Well james i just hope that your movie won’t end up in a box office bomb that’s not what i want to see.
May 26, 2012 at 6:06 am
Welcome back james, hope you had fun shooting the movie over there and hope Mike didn’t trash the place
May 26, 2012 at 6:12 am
Yeah. I was hoping too, to see the movie in cinema, here in Finland.
I know MANY friends, who would definitely go and see the movie (including me).. But I will anyway buy the DVD, even though I haven’t bought any of yours yet.
May 26, 2012 at 6:15 am
Glad to hear you’re back, James.
Regarding Monster Madness, I do enjoy it and you’re right that it wouldn’t feel like a Cinemassacre October without it. But given the constraints on time, would it be possible to compromise and maybe do a weekly series with a Halloween special? Perhaps talk about more recent horror films.
As far as the AVGN movie goes, I definitely think you should offer up a DVD and a digital format. DVD could cost more, but come with extras like storyboards, deleted scenes, commentary, etc. Or even a riff of your own movie.
Actually, you should contact Rifftrax, see if you could be a guest riffer on a movie and see if you can promote your film as well. I imagine the fanbase from Cinemassacre and Rifftrax overlaps somewhat so it could be pretty good.
Your talk of L.A. seems to imply that, while it was enjoyable, it’s probably not going to be used again for another film. Am I correct? If so, we’d love to see you here in Michigan.
Finally, you talked a lot about things you enjoyed about filming the movie. What was the worst thing? Or what was something that went catastrophically wrong, if anything?
Thanks James, keep up the fantastic work.

i always knew you would make it throught filming that movie; great news !

I second Lietuvis’s comment. There are a lot of independent film festivals in Europe, such as the Gothenburg (Sweden) International Film festival, A friend of mine played a small part, (Fredrich the German Pervert, which is funny because he is neither German nor a pervert) in an indi film produced by a Danish production company. After the showing, the film maker and some of the actors did a Q and A session with the audience.
By the way, I’m not Swedish. I’m an American ex-pat who has been living in Gothenburg, Sweden for the last seven years. I just know your film would be popular here. Swedes love anything American and they love video games.
Anyway, good luck with the continuing project.

Is the movie going to have surround sound (5.1 or better)?
Another idea is (again, if you’re not picked up by a distributor), is have fans work with you on subtitles for the movie in French, Spanish, German, etc. I was pretty surprised that you have some videos on nicovideo.jp that folks have subbed into Japanese and they have 100,000+ views.

I hope this isn’t a stupid question but, what are the odds of a Blu-Ray release?
May 26, 2012 at 7:01 am
Welcome back…. I have a question/suggestion. In some of the AVGN videos, I see orange cart SNES games… What are these and maybe review them? Seems odd to request this but I own a lot of SNES games, 80ish or so.. And I never seen one, I also searched around on the net and can find no info…Anyways, I ask because it bugs me, they catch my eye in the AVGN videos every time =)

It’s nice to see you back home, James. We followed every step in the movie making, can’t wait to buy the DVD… I hope they’re going to ship it to Italy. From what I’ve seen, the movie has a certain “Be Kind Rewind” mood in it, I’ll love it for shure. Take all the time you need to complete it, don’t rush!

Oh James! you made my fucking day when you said fuck CGI characters
! CG for fixing up screen details is totally fine, looks like you’re living up to what you’ve said before “CG can be a good thing, when used right”.
Now for my question:
Is there gonna be any inventive sort of cursewords in the film we’ve never heard? I’m talking about some really insane ones we’ve never think to come up with.

I don’t want to complain as I’m a big fan and you work so hard, but I do a feel a little let down in one respect. It seems the Indiegogo donators get all the perks but the people who donated via the Cinemassacre site get let down.
I donated via Paypal on your site when it was first announced that all donations for those 2 weeks would go to the movie. I would love to have donated again when the Indiegogo fundraiser came round but unfortunately I work a minimum wage job and couldn’t afford to at that time.
So I feel a bit let down that people who donated to the movie but didn’t do it via the Indiegogo site are not going to see the behind the scenes footage. I really didn’t want to type this and I’m glad I still donated but, c’mon, don’t just favour those that donated via Indiegogo, give those Cinemassacre AVGN movie donators some love too.
That said, still can’t wait to see the movie and the other new stuff you’ll release in the future.

you’re a busy busy man. well this is your JOB now. so enjoy doing what you love

James, I was wondering if there is anything us fans could do to help try to get your movie into theaters even locally. I felt like I should go o the local theaters and tell them about your movie and ask them if they were going to be showing it. Or maybe it’s better just to try to get the buzz out there over the internet to groups that maybe haven’t heard of you yet. Perhaps Mike could design some kind of poster to fit on a standard piece of paper that people could print out and start covering telephone polls with, ala Andre the Giant’s “OBEY”.
Any ways I think even the best hollywood movie still needs allot of advertising and buzz built up before theaters will show it and people will see it, so let us know how we can help that side of the film.
Best of luck,
-Mike Bevi

I’m wondering how prepared James is for the poor reception his movie might receive. Either from fans, critics, or both.
May 26, 2012 at 11:01 am
welcome home James cant wait to see the finished product i was wondering if you will release the movie on this site or another like this? as i dont have a bank card credit card paypal or anything like that (due to bad experiences) and im sure some of your over fans dont ether
May 26, 2012 at 11:10 am
James! Always been a big fan. Awesome to hear how much of an experience you had. Being an aspiring film maker myself, I definitely took in all the crucial advice you gave in this video.
It’s sweet that you’re coming to visit Canada finally. I have to recommend attending FanExpo in Toronto August 23rd-26th. it’s easily the biggest one in Canada. I’m sure myself and many fans would want to get a chance to meet you.
Good luck with the editing process.
May 26, 2012 at 11:36 am
All I want is if you do a tour around with the film to please come to the Boston Area. This is all. I donated too much to have to watch on DVD.
May 26, 2012 at 11:43 am
Hi James, I´m a very big fan of your work (have been for years now) I ´m MEXICAN so i’m interested to know if the movie could have subtitles when it comes out on dvd, i mean, obviously I’m able to understand english but this time I wanna make sure that I don´t miss a thing (the cursing can be tricky).
Good luck with the final work of the movie!!
May 26, 2012 at 11:47 am
Thanks for the constant AVGN movie updates, working on your movie must be really stressful, and the fact you do that as well as upload other movies really shows your dedication to your fans, so just wanted to say thanks for that.
By the way have you thought of doing a review for the old Metal Gear games? I know they’re not bad games, but they sure can be stressing, not to mention it would be great seeing you and Mike in costume for that game.
May 26, 2012 at 11:48 am
i’m gonna show your f>!”ing movie around here in Buenos Aires, Argentina!
May 26, 2012 at 11:51 am
Hey James,
I’m an aspiring audio/sound engineer, and I’m just wondering how closely the audio industry is tied in with film. You mentioned that music and audio is a whole different story, and I’m curious as to how you are choosing to approach that spectrum of the filmmaking process. I know I would love a career working closely with independent filmmakers.
Best wishes,
Joel

…I admit there are times I have my doubts about the movie, but when I hear James talking so passionately about his work, I feel more confident.
I’m excited to hear we’ll have new AVGN and Board James episodes soon. I really hope we can have Monster Madness this year too.
Thank you for sharing some of your experience with us, James
It’s great to see you back!

Thanks James for sharing your insights.
When you say LA is expensive, can you elaborate in what way exactly?
I am in the Netherlands, and over here equipment rental (for example) is much more expensive (because there is less competition). I also think that since many new and eager acting talents are drawn to LA, it would be easier to find good actors willing to work for less (so they can prove themselves). Or am I totally wrong on this?
May 26, 2012 at 12:10 pm
There ain’t half some miserable comments on here today. I have to wonder why ‘Bigdaddyclean’ even bothered to donate anything to the film if he’s going to whine about wanting his money back before the damn thing’s even been released.
