  • MattHerrick

    March 27, 2012 at 9:15 pm

James, I highly, highly doubt this has potential to be the worst movie ever. Tommy Wiseau has that claim.Do what you can, cut corners if you have to, and take your time. There’s no rush here. Not to mention, we’ll be behind you the whole way. 😛

    • Nanofuture

      March 27, 2012 at 9:59 pm

[email protected] Well he can’t really take his time.  Time is money, literally, especially during shooting when he has to pay for locations, actors, crew, etc.

    March 27, 2012 at 9:20 pm

Yeah man LA and California in general is fucking awful in regards to taxes and regulations. Essentially they just want as much money out of you as possible, regardless as to whether or not it hobbles or just downright prevents you from making a film. Great example of this is how Breaking bad was originally supposed to be shot in Riverside but because of all the BS imposed in the form of fee’s, reg’s, etc it’s shot in New Mexico. Good luck brother with your movie. Here’s one Southern California Fan who’s rooting for ya.

i’ll go to Britain when im good and ready. this ad is way too long.
what can i say? we’re all behind you James. no matter what this becomes, i’m sure it’ll make all your fans happy as shit. Mike is holding down regular videos nicely, and i’m still happy watching the old nerd episodes. i’ve even got my girlfriend into the nerd (high praise, she hates pretty much all the other online critics).
hope you’re all having a blast down there. good luck!

[email protected] LMAO! Love how you threw in the bit about the ad. It made me never wanna goto Britain. PS: You can skip it about halfway through. Theres a barely visable X in the top right that appears haha. JUST in case everyone’s wondering.

I guess you’re also going to release DVDs at one point.
Will the people that funded some more money (I made a 200 USD donation via IndieGoGo) get a free DVD or at least get it cheaper ?

Good luck James! Looking forward to the movie and I hope it goes well.

  • andregnreis

    March 27, 2012 at 9:40 pm

James, two things i would like to say or ask:
    1) I first donated to the AVGN movie, using the PayPal button, and then, when you began the IndieGoGo i couldnt help again. The thing is, right now Kickstarter projects are receiving a lot of attention because of Tim Schaffers game and also Wasteland 2. What i mean is, i think if you create a new fundraiser campaign, with different or even the same rewards, everybody would win: those who helped back at the day could help more, who lost the opportunity during IndieGoGo would have another chance to help and get nice rewards, and also NEW people would take notice of what you are trying to do! Since you would receive the money this year, and use it to film this year, you wouldnt lose so much with taxes like you said in a movie before.
    2) Do you plan to attend E3 2012? I went last year and hoped to find you there, but then i found that last year was one of the few years you didnt attend… then i hoped to find you this year again, but you are saying you are going back home on may 5th… i am a huge (international) fan of cinemassacre, and would be REALLY cool to meet you and motherfucker Mike… also, it could be a nice place to spread the word on AVGN The Movie and get some attention from the media and gamers.
Thats it! thanks and kick some ass with the movie!!

    • Nanofuture

      March 27, 2012 at 9:45 pm

[email protected] I really doubt that he’ll be at E3 2012.  He’ll be way too busy with the movie.

  • StephenReed

    March 27, 2012 at 10:26 pm

James, you should be able to get most of that tax back when you file your 2012 tax return.  You’ll have all the movie expenses but little to no revenue.  Therefore you’ll have a big loss that can be carried back to claim taxes paid in 2010 and 2011.  I think your mistake was having indiegogo remit funds to you in 2011.  You should of had it set up where none of the funds transfer to you until 2012, that way your income and expenses would be matched in the same year.  You may want to get a new tax advisor or at least consult with one before making a decision that will have a major financial impact.
Good luck on the movie, can’t wait until it comes out.

  • Yowza

    March 27, 2012 at 10:27 pm

My favorite part of any AVGN episode are the angry expressions on the Nerd’s face.  The ROB and Spielberg episodes had great instances of silent stares of pure anger.  That is my only request before the movie starts – please hold back nothing when the cameras start to roll!

  • FiftyQuid

    March 27, 2012 at 10:57 pm

Are you still accepting donations?  I have money burning a hole in my pocket and it sounds like you need more.  Let me know.  My wallet is ready to take a hit.

    • March 27, 2012 at 11:58 pm

‘ @FiftyQuid I’d send a message to Mike’s profile on here. James isn’t gonna get it, but Mike might get a chance to read it.

  • NightPhoenix

    March 27, 2012 at 11:25 pm

It really is hard to do things legit in LA without a ton of money. I wish you the best of luck, and even if this doesn’t make it to theaters, I hope that you at least are able to sell it to Netflix and that it will open many more doors for you!

  • NightPhoenix

    March 27, 2012 at 11:28 pm

Haha oh man I was just thinking… what if James really took that first mailbag to heart and we are about to witness the most bizarre and perverse pornographic re-imagining of AVGN?

  • Reputator

    March 27, 2012 at 11:38 pm

If this movie turns out half as good as you are as a person, we’ll be talking about it for years to come.

  • Thrashing Deth

    March 27, 2012 at 11:41 pm

James I gotta tell ya, don’t worry about how it turns out. If it’s sooo bad it’s good, then it’s still rewarding (even more rewarding that you will gain so much knowledge and experience and you be doing the very thing you “dreamed” of). Even if the movie ended up like a regular AVGN episode but at a movie length I’d still enjoy it man. Anything you do on the films is enough entertainment for me. It’s like making music, just have fun doing what you like to do and not change so much for other peoples standards (if it comes down to it). But yeah man that’s all I gotta say, good luck, best wishes for you, and thanks for all the years of entertainment.

  • ShinodaCM

    March 27, 2012 at 11:47 pm

Don’t rush it.. Oooh please don’t rush it! Don’t set out any hopes for a concrete release date and take your time. We will wait as long as we can get some sort of updates once in a while showing that it’s still in the works.
A good movie is a movie well produced. This is your first “Big” movie so mistakes are expected but don’t intentionally add factors that may hurt it. Take your time and give us the movie from Kevin and your minds.

  • AMillah

    March 28, 2012 at 12:19 am

I think it will be hard for this to turn out bad. Even if it turns out not how you envisioned because of budget and constraints, I have a feeling it will still be gold. Constraints can make a person think more creatively and determined, so it puts that pressure to cause a creative spark. We all know you guys have a solid story and script, so even if you have to obliterate the original script, it will probably still be great.

I think it would actually be pretty funny if the movie opened up like a typical AVGN episode, with the title music and all. Starting a review for ET, and then like 5 mins into it, he can’t finish the review due to how bad it is, and then the narrative starts and the atmosphere changes into a legit movie.

    • Elyjaah

      March 28, 2012 at 1:25 am

[email protected] Yep, they’ll probably add it to the Screwattack store. And all their other DVDs are not region-coded, so I’m going to assume that this one won’t be either.

  • March 28, 2012 at 12:28 am

Mannn, James you look so burned out. i bet the rest of the team are feeling the same, but I know and many of your fans will know you’re putting in a lot of effort. I can’t wait to see your movie. It’s going to be great whether or not it goes how you planned. I’ve loved every single AVGN episode you’ve made surely your movie will be fantastic. I’ll go see rain or shine 😀

  • nowhere4321

    March 28, 2012 at 12:30 am

If you have to delay a couple of months to shoot more scenes in different locations, then you should do that.

  • TheGunflyer

    March 28, 2012 at 12:55 am

Oh God… I would so go for the AVGN movie coming out in theaters December 25th. It’ll be the best movie of 2012… yes, even better than The Dark Knight Rises… well, maybe not… but then again…nah.

  • germanium28

Can’t wait for the film, James.  Best of luck while shooting.  Break a leg!

  • JeramieKruger

    March 28, 2012 at 2:17 am

Only a months worth of shooting? I always expected this to be a much longer process. Oh well, not like I am complaining!! Can’t wait to have James back at the forefront of Cinmassacre.

  • March 28, 2012 at 2:19 am

I believe in you James, this movie is bound to be a great success! Even if you think it may be ‘the worst movie of all time’, you’ll know all your fans will love and appreciate what you’ve done. I hope you have great success in filming, can’t wait for the movie!

  • March 28, 2012 at 2:29 am

That’s a good Boo!!! Sending my best to all of you. Stay positive!

  • Lanlost

    March 28, 2012 at 3:00 am

Stop saying the movie WILL be a massive success and hyping it up. Just stop!.
I love that he is getting to do this, but the best we can do is wait with as little of expectations as possible. I’m not saying that because I think the movie is going to suck. No.. I am saying this simply because IF you hype it too much you will be disappointed NO MATTER WHAT.
Wait for it, like an extra special episode, with no other expectations except to see James live his dream, be happy he got to, and everything else is bonus.
THEN — If the movie is shitty, you will still feel proud for him and he WILL get to go on any way with all the knowledge he will have and make something better.
If the movie awesome, you will be blown away because you didn’t expect the greatest of the great movies..
I’m thinking it’s going to be one hell of a ride by the time it’s done either way, for both James AND US and CAN NOT WAIT. I can not wait, however, SIMPLY with the intentions to have a fucking blast. I absolutely guarantee that _I_ personally will be THRILLED to see it and WILL have a great time. I’ve never been one of the people here to bitch about his later episodes ‘not being as good’ as his earlier ones. For everything that got ‘worse’ something got ‘better.’
So let’s crack a bottle for James on April 1st and wish him the best. Isn’t the internet amazing?

    • NewQuinn

      March 28, 2012 at 6:32 am

      [email protected] Well said, man.

    • startugofroblox

      March 28, 2012 at 10:31 am

[email protected] well said, my good sir. I’m excited for the movie, but not being too hyped. Even if some of the later episodes were a bit weak, they got much better nearby the 100 episode mark. Every time I saw “AVGN EPISODE # – TRAILER” on YouTube, I’d be really excited and I’d watch it in support as a fan.

    • StilesCrisis

      March 28, 2012 at 5:36 pm

[email protected], agreed. I’m trying to keep my personal expectations low so I can be blown away when it comes out. Honestly I’m more a fan of the reviews themselves than the crazy over-the-top shenanigans like SMDC3K, so the movie might not be for me either way. I’ll still buy the Blu-ray though.

  • CurtisSchneider

    March 28, 2012 at 4:24 am

This makes me even more excited for the movie! Whether it’s a blockbuster masterpiece or a Cinemassacre it doesn’t matter. I actually a hope it turns out to be raw and hilarious like an Ed Wood flick. With a touch of Wayne’s World where it isn’t afraid to make fun of itself.

  • Bronson

    March 28, 2012 at 4:31 am

Just release the movie before the end of the world. Thanks.

  • CurtisSchneider

    March 28, 2012 at 5:26 am

For the release James should tour major cities around the world and rent out a theatre room at each location for a night or more(depending on demand). And he should sell the Blu-Rays and DVD’s with him at a merch table after. And then just release it to buy online. If he does that independently he wouldn’t have to share as much with Uncle Sam(The government) or Uncle Scrooge(The corporations involved in movie distribution). James has more of a following than most Indie DVD distributers anyway. I know if he did that, I would be able to set up a sold-out show at a local theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It would be about $2500 for him before selling merch.

    • StilesCrisis

      March 28, 2012 at 5:35 pm

[email protected] would still be illegal to sell merch and not pay taxes on the revenue. If he made enough on it, the IRS would catch on quick.

  • NewQuinn

    March 28, 2012 at 6:30 am

Hate to be sentimental, but the more I watch these logs, I start feeling like I’m more just happy for James and excited about what he is doing than watching the movie itself. Even if the movie “sucks” I think I will still thoroughly enjoy it, just like some AVGN episodes that I don’t really care for, I still enjoy them because you know James is behind the scenes working hard and doing what he loves. Cinemassacre is beautiful, not just because of the face value product that comes out of it, but the inspiring person that is James Rolfe, a man who we can all look up to and identify with.

    • abakereins

      March 28, 2012 at 8:09 am

[email protected] agree with this 100%. As an aspiring filmmaker myself, I can only imagine how happy James is to finally be doing this. Ever since I’ve found this site, he has quickly become my favorite director. I’ll dish out whatever it costs to see this movie no matter how good it is!

  • BradCunningham

    March 28, 2012 at 6:53 am

Wow, taxes suck.  But you will persevere!  My family and I are so excited for you, and can’t wait to see the movie!  Good luck James!

  • JelwynnKain

    March 28, 2012 at 6:55 am

too much taxes for average people, and not enough for the richest ones (let’s go back to 90% for them).Good luck on this movie.

    • Jarnor

      March 28, 2012 at 4:48 pm

[email protected] do realize that’s why he was taxed so much… $300,000 or so of “income” will magically make him one of the “1%” this year that some people love to hate so much.  On paper anyway.
Nobody should pay 90% of their income to the government.

      • StilesCrisis

        March 28, 2012 at 5:33 pm

[email protected]@JelwynnKain The maximum tax bracket, even in the worst case, is nowhere near 90%. He might end up paying half. Which is still pretty catastrophic; if he expected to need $200K, he will only have $150K or so to work with, and it sounds like he might not have budgeted properly to begin with so that $200K figure is called into question.
The sad thing is that if he had consulted an accountant beforehand, there were undoubtedly countless ways that this could have been mitigated. It’s an unfortunate blunder. He’ll know better next time, I guess.

      • Devil_Rising

        March 29, 2012 at 1:49 am

[email protected]@[email protected] I was under the impression film-makers could get slight exemptions on some of their film funding being taxed…..but I guess maybe through things like IndieGoGo, it doesn’t work that way.

      • Devil_Rising

        March 29, 2012 at 1:49 am

[email protected]@[email protected] But also, considering he only asked for $75,000 in the first place, even IF he only wound up getting about $150,000 of that to work with, he still has more to use than he probably imagined.

  • GregorMorehead

    March 28, 2012 at 7:02 am

James the donation was totally worth it just to see how excited you are about this and that it’s such a great learning experience for you. I can’t wait to see the finished product but I also hope the joy and excitement can last as long as possible for you. Good luck with everything and we all believe in you.

isn’t plan 9 from outer space the worst movie ever so i don`t think  the avgn movie going to near that though im looking forward to it:)

    • WillieLogan

      March 28, 2012 at 9:27 am

[email protected] Plan 9 has been trumped by Birdemic : Shock and Terror. That movie makes Plan 9 look like Terminator 2.

      • March 28, 2012 at 10:02 am

[email protected] You guys know that James Rolfe is in the upcoming PLAN 9 remake as a police officer right? Not a joke. Awesome.

    • Devil_Rising

      March 29, 2012 at 1:47 am

[email protected] Oooooooh no. Trust me. There are far, far worse movies than Plan 9. Plan 9 actually has some charm and entertaingment value. Go watch Creating Rem Lezar. Or Manos: The Hands of Fate, or Hobgoblins, or many OTHER horribly made films out there. Compared to a lot of shit out there, Ed Wood’s movies are masterpieces. lol

Wow man, gonna be a hell of a month!  I’m glad to hear your appreciation of the time and effort of what you’re doing as it relates to your professional experience; as a software engineer my best times were really my hardest times.   Getting thrown to the wolves is often the best thing that can happen to us, as long as we don’t get eaten 😉
Good luck with filming, I hope everything goes as smooth as possible!

  • TommyO'Neil

    March 28, 2012 at 7:15 am

This looks like it’s gonna be freckin’ amazing dude, thank you so much.Only thing I wanna say is, it’s probably a bad idea to try to rush the movie out during the editing process.Don’t overwork yourself. I spoke to one of the guys that worked on the unreleased Sonic game for Sega Saturn, and he worked so many hours on the game trying to get it finished that he actually became very sick, and his doctor told him he only had like 5 weeks to live or something like that. xDSo, take your time, take breaks in between. I’m a very patient person, and the world isn’t gonna end for me if the movie isn’t out by the end of this year.

        1. It references not only his video on Bart Vs. the World but also Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World which in itself largely references video game mythology. His films are often satirical and use parody so the title fits.
        2. As you know, many older school games such as Mario are notable for their use of “worlds”  which could be interesting if it ties into the script at all.
        3. James likes B grade films and they tend to use wacky titles so this seems appropriate.
Anyway, he didn’t destroy ROB to save the world, he did it so that he could get all the crappy games back.

This is very exciting. I have no expectations of what the finished product will be. I have been a fan of yours for the past 5 years and it has been a pleasure to watch you James and the AVGN character mature into what you are today. There is no denying your love and passion for what you do. And that is the reason that in my eyes, no matter how positive or negative the reception is, this film will be a success. The fact that you are following your dream to completion is very inspirational. Good luck with everything, and keep up the good work. Thank you for the years of entertainment, education, and inspiration.

  • TheShervinator

    March 28, 2012 at 12:19 pm

    See what you’ve done, James?
So many people you’ve never met support and love you.  They want to see you succeed as they wish to see their parents or children or friends succeed.  Can you believe it?
You did it by being a good person, and it’s really hard for a lot of people (especially here in America, and ESPECIALLY in the times we’re living in now) to accept the fact that there are people out there who rise against greed.
People care about you because you care about them, and any non-cynic can realize that.  And these are people who don’t know you and people who will only ever get to admire you from afar.
You’ve given the people someone to trust, and that’s the real gift, more so than anything you could ever film.
Congratulations on succeeding, James.  There’s a much grander picture to what you and people like you have done, and I hope you never stop.

Good luck James, I know this movie will be awesome. I’ve been a fan for years, not just AVGN, but all of your movies. You have proven a hundred times over you have the imagination, vision, and drive to pull this film off. Also I feel ya on having a unlimited imagination, but a very limited budget. When I tried to make a short film myself, I had all these great scene in my head, but when I actually went into production I found it was nearly impossible to do with the money I had (like 50$), and the people I had. I didn’t turn out as good as I dreamt it would, but I’m still proud I made it.  Also, ignore all the hate from trolls, it was all started by a arch-douche on youtube trying to get more views on his pathetic channel. You did nothing wrong asking us for the money, thousands of indy artist do it everyday. It builds a stronger relationship between fan and artist, and keeps greedy corporate middle-men out of the picture. I’ve given money to indy artist before, and I was more then to do so. So next time you’re feeling stress and down while making this film just say to yourself “I Believe”. Because We all, your fans, Believe in you.

      March 29, 2012 at 1:42 am

[email protected] People who think that creators owe them something, just because they may have spent money to BUY the creations they enjoy, are pathetic, and misguided. It’s a two way street. Yeah, you as a fan are paying your money to support an artist, but in turn that artist is CREATING the things you enjoy and are willing to spend your money on. It’s a symbiotic relationship. The artist needs fans to support their work, and the fans need things of beauty, and things of entertainment, to help inspire them and enrich their daily lives. So people who get greedy, and demanding of artists, is pretty silly. And ESPECIALLY in James’ case, where he’s been giving us 99% of his creative output for FREE all these years…how can any self-proclaimed FAN actually have the gaul to get pissy with him OR Mike OR this site, and act like they are owed something. Artists you claim to enjoy, give you entertainment. They don’t owe fans for anything more than enjoying their work. Period.

[email protected] I agree. I’ve wanted nothing more than to be a published author for a living for years. I’m still far away from that dream a decade later as I was when I was 20. But you’re right, seeing someone like James work and struggle and SHOW that you can get things done with a little help and with hard work, if you just stick with it, that really helps. It is really inspiring, which is why I like when he reads the “nice letters” (and not just the funny ones that SOME selfish fans think are all he should read), when he does the Mailbag episodes. It’s great to hear other people’s stories, and relate to how his work has helped them, made them laugh, or inspired them also. Anyone who enjoys anything that someone else creates is ultimately touched and affected by that creator. But with James, he’s so down to earth, so real, so “one of us”, that it’s even moreso the case, because you really get the feeling that “hey, if he can live his dream, so can I”. Life is rough man, but I’m halfway through a novel I’ve been writing for the last couple years, and I’m hoping to speed up the process and have it done and ready to publish this year. And seeing James do his thing, definitely helps me feel like I can do mine as well.

And about that “e-begging” Nobody was forced to pay. we did it because we wanted. Supporting something you like cannot be called as e-begging.  If those who are so critic about all that stuff, would do something cool Like James did and still does, then those people would have fans too 🙂 but instead of doing they make youtube videos about how bad everyone are.  So sad. James in the future Please write a book too. Would be cool to read about your thoughts and experiences etc.

    • Devil_Rising

      March 29, 2012 at 1:33 am

[email protected] Yeah. I resent this “e-begging” notion people put out there. Like “Hey, make us shit we like that entertains us, but HOW DARE YOU ask fans to help financially support the end-product we’re demanding?” Really selfish and silly. I think sites like IndieGoGo are a great thing. Look at some of the indie games that recently are getting funding through that type of means. Those games would not even be getting MADE for fans that want to play them, if the fans hadn’t been willing to help out. I think it’s a perfectly good idea for smaller, independent creation projects, by it music albums, comic books, movies, games, you name it. If fans want you to make something, but don’t want it to get ruined by corporate interests changing things and making demands that alter the product, then why NOT help fund it themselves, assuring they’re going to be getting nothing BUT what the creator actually wants to create. I think it’s perfect, honestly. So Kudos to James and anyone else who takes this avenue.

I know nothing about making movies, but I’m a little surprised that you were surprised about the cost of things in LA. Shit living in southern california is expensive enough, let alone paying people to shoot on their property and all the other costs involved.
I’m glad to hear that everything is going well, and know that all of your fans are behind you to support you in any way we can. I am no actor but I am an event manager for a Company that works for associations to run conventions. Rent, cigarrettes, food; they weren’t offering a place to stay, nothing.  Just come out here and start working.

James, as a long time fan, I want you to know that there is literally no way on earth that this could be “The worst move of all time”. Not even close. Even if you were only able to do nothing more than what basically equates to an hour/hour and a half long version of one of your regular AVGN episodes….you know what? Your TRUE fans are going to love it. And I have complete faith that you’re going to give us one hell of a movie. But from one creator to another, I’d just like to say that, while I know I don’t need to tell you this, keep in mind to stick to your vision, and stick to your convictions. Remember to make this movie for you, James Rolfe, because that’s what any great creator does. Artists create for themselves, and then they share that creation with others, some of whom enjoy their work, some of whom don’t. There is something to be said for appreciating, valuing, and “Staying true” to your fans. But there is also something to be said for not merely producing what you think the fans want to see, just to make them happy. In my mind, if they’re TRUE fans, they’ll like, or at least respect and appreciate, what you produce no matter what. So with that said, don’t worry about certain fans and whether or not they think this movie will be awesome. Because I can assure you, MOST of us will love it. And so long as YOU also love it, then that’s all that matters. So go kick some ass and  take some names my friend. Hopefully the shooting goes as smoothly as possible, and like you said, the knowledge and experience you’re gaining out of this will only make you an even better director/creator, meaning your future films will be even better than this will be. We (most of us) will be eagerly awaiting the finished product, so take your time, and most importantly, have fun!

Hey James, LA Native here.  Would love to volunteer on the movie shoot.  I have a bachelors in film production, so I have some capable experience.  I also work in an entertainment law firm and have represented filmmakers taking their product to the market.  Let me know if I can help in some way, as I would love to be a part of this project.

I believe The movie will live up to the hype and if not then oh well, I’ll still watch it. All I can say right now is take your time and don’t over work yourself.

    March 29, 2012 at 7:52 am

    Dear James,
I can’t speak for all the fans, but I think most would agree that whatever this movie turns out to be,, you have the spirit, drive, vision, and determination of a young Orson Wells.
We’re all very proud of you for taking this leap, and through you, and your efforts, all of us at home get to live vicariously, cheering you on.
Even though there is obviously obstacles you are fighting right now, this movie is YOUR vision, YOUR passion,,, YOUR  movie.
For us fans, this is YOUR Kane.
      Peace brother.

I’ve been following your progress over the past four years, but never sent you an e-mail or even posted a comment to show my appreciation for what you’re doing. There were times when I felt sad because of real life issues that we all have from time to time, but whenever I watched your videos be it AVGN, Monster Madness or Board James, it made me a happier person even if just for a brief moment.
I really enjoy what you and your friends (especially Mike) are doing and I’m looking forward to buy your movie once it’s released. I admit that I didn’t buy any of your previous DVDs, but I hope you forgive me for that as with all the issues we have with postal service in Russia I doubt I would have ever received the package anyway. But for the movie I’m willing to take the risk, as I feel like I owe you for all the fun and great videos you’ve done over the years.
I wish you best of luck with your production and I believe that you will do just great. Even if you shoot the worst movie of all times, you will still have a big cult following.
Thank you for all the hard work!

    Hi James
Don’t be nervous man!… and on’t worry about the hype… AVGN: The Movie will not be a Phantom Menace!… I have only been following you for a few months, but have never ever followed anyone anywhere near as much as I follow you (Although I am now following that guy but only because you introduced me to him)… You’re AVGN episodes are genius, so well made and always make me laugh… I feel like I know you even though I have never met you… Plus I’m a huge Jackie Chan fan… Good luck with the movie and look forward to seeing it some time in the future…

My favorite episode would have to be Superman 64 (buts that only because my favorite superhero is superman) but ya im really hyped about the movie but dont say its gona suck. Your movie will be great. Im trying to be a filmmaker myself and i understand the pressure. But besides that im really looking forward to the movie and hell maby a sequal. Ive also enjoyed alot of your movie reviews (but again getting off topic). By the way when the movie is finished will i be able to watch it on cinemassacre? But to the main point the movie will be great im looking forward to watching it.

AVGN movie plotline: the nerd goes to Mexico in search of the lost landfill of E.T. games. I`m calling it now, come at me bros.

    • March 29, 2012 at 4:59 pm

[email protected] Grice replace “Mexico” with “New Mexico” and you pretty much predicted at least part of the movie’s plot that we all knew about for several months.

Hey James, I’ve been a huge fan of Cinemassacre for years but untill now I’ve never actually commented.  Im currently in college and taking as many game design courses as I can as making video games has pretty much been my life’s dream, however I lack experience and am just an amateur.  As I started work on my final project today I realized that due to the lack of experience of my team and I finishing this game in time might be completely impossible.  All day I have been carrying around the feeling of being completely and utterly fucked, event to the point where I considered giving up on game design in general. That was until I watched this video, something about seeing how you’ve come from just some guy who made funny youtube videos to making an actual movie, and just how you jumped into this thing head first and balls deep even though there was alot you may or may not have been anticipating has given me completely renewed motivation in my own goals and as a long time fan I just wanted to say thanks!

Your cheap broke movie will be 100x more interesting than most of the 100-200 million dollar titles that Hollywood shits out regularly. So much money is thrown at stuff like Transformers and Avatar but it ultimately does nothing but disappoint since the characters and plot are always utter garbage. Their logic is that special effects will just CARRY the movie and that’s all that matters… but sadly, they’re right. They’re profiting off that shit and are all rich, so how can you say they’re wrong? You can hate things like Twilight all day long but in the end that bitch behind them is EXTREMELY RICH now. The entertainment industry has just gotten stupid… people make and worship trash and the pubic at large just eats that shit up like it’s good. I’m still waiting for movies to be good again. Your cheap work is a beacon of hope, really. Someone has got to be the one to stand up and state, “There are more important things than just how much money can be thrown into special effects”. If not you, then who?

I think Boo wants to be an internet celebrity like his dad 🙂
I like having the nerd blog, but  I’m happier to hear you’re going to focus entirely on the movie. The only think that saddens me a little… does that mean you’re not going to have your “obligatory” cameo in TGWTG anniversary this year? (since I heard they’re in the process of producing it right now). It won’t be the same without Board James to explain how to play Risk or the Voice of the Ancient World telling Angry Joe to go fuck himself 😛
Even with all the budget limitations and obstacles, I’m sure you’ll find your way around them somehow, James, that’s the Cinemassacre’s spirit, and I’m also sure all that you’re learning right now will get reflected in your Cinemassacre works and all the work you’ll do in the future.
The best of lucks to you, James and everybody, and looking forward to see you back in summer.

Here I thought I could never be a much larger fan of James, this just made me find a new found respect and love for this guy. He is a rare commodity in society by just doing what he loves and as always has the worst fan-boys and the worst haters who just insult him for doing what he enjoys and can’t afford it and asks his fans for help. Asking for help is never wrong, it is only wrong if you don’t appreciate your fans or what you have done. So he does great and is probably going to have his film in The Independence Film Festival and might win. Just imagine having this guy in the Oscars lol.
    Much love from Los Angeles.

James>> Like everyone here, I’ve been a HUGE AVGN fan for years. It’s true, in life, with reality, sometimes there are mistakes and setbacks. And just made things don’t always work out 100% as you planned or envisioned. But, I’m sure I’m safe in saying, for all us fans of your work… we now that you care, your friends care, and have worked, are working, and will work as hard as you can on this film. It’s clear to tell your heart is really in this. Rest easy, James. We find your 8-15 min AVGN vids a blast, so I’m sure however the film truely forms in the end, we’ll love it, and we’ll certaintly love you for it! Best to you, the wifey, your frends, and the crew! ;D
