@Jingleboy Keep in mind that I’m pretty sure they have more than that $300,000, because James also raised money for a month on Cinemassacre.com beforehand via PayPal. True, a lot of that probably went into the new equipment he bought like better cameras and stuff. But I’m sure there’s at least a bit more there than $300k. But yes, he’s gotta stretch that out, and make it count.
I get a kick out of these “offer” actors, as If It’s them being generous enough to be In you’re movie. I’m sure you guys are picking the right people for the job though. Keep up the great work and the updates are most excellent and appreciated! ~Tye
@PoLaR_IV I’m pretty sure some of the “offers” are from actors that James and Co. would LOVE to have in the film, even as a cameo. In fact, he didn’t say so, but I’m sure a few of those “offer actors” will in fact wind up being in the film. Not with huge roles, but likely cool cameos like “Oh hey, that guy”. Also, keep in mind that having a “name” in Hollywood does mean that you can command a bigger asking price, which is part of the point of getting into the movie business to be a success in the first place. Sure, some actors can get a big head and be a dick about it. But in general, many of these more known actors have a schedule to build and maintain, so telling someone like James to “make them an offer” to be in his film, is their way of gauging whether or not it’s worth it to them to take the time to be in a small film by a (relatively) no-name first time feature film director, in lieu of accepting some OTHER offer they have to be in something else that might have a higher profile, be more the kind of project they want to do, and/or of course probably pay better.
i would`ve liked to see mike in the movie as the best friend or a lunatic villan (think joker in batman AVGN) but im sure james will pick other great actors for those roles
IDIOTS. If you guys are true fans of Cinemassacre, then you would already know that MIKE has already said that he IS NOT an actor and that is the reason why he IS NOT IN THE FILM.
I’m glad that Mike isn’t being cast as the Nerd’s friend. I like Mike, but after watching all the other videos on the site and knowing that Mike is James’ friend in real life, it would have kind of ruined the feel of the movie. The movie isn’t about James Rolfe, it’s about the Angry Video Game Nerd. If Mike was there it would be too much like a movie or board game video and it wouldn’t have felt like the character.
@DrDoug I still hope Mike has a cameo. Mike has never really been in the Nerd episodes as “AVGN’S Friend”, however he has been in a lot of them as various characters. It would be nice to see him play some character.
I really am excited about seeing this movie. Man, it’s been so long for this movie. I hope I can see it in any theater. Will it be a movie in all theaters?
@TheCrazyEinstien Problem is, to have distribution in theaters, a film has to get picked up by a larger distributor, like Paramount, or Universal, Sony, etc. It doesn’t HAVE to be one of those huge top companies, but you get the point. You can’t just get into regular theaters without a bigger studio picking your film up and paying to distribute it. A lot of smaller films, especially if there is high demand or even more if they have won awards, will be shown in smaller “art house” theaters which most bigger towns and cities have, though.
@Devil_Rising @TheCrazyEinstien yeah but we made a zombie film and showed it at universal in florida?

@TheCrazyEinstien P.S. And don’t even get me started about submitting your film to the MPAA for an official rating, if you want your film to be picked up by a distributor and put into theaters. THAT’S where a lot of cuts sadly come into play in the movie business. *sigh*
So the first question is, who are all the big actors who’ve come by? Yes, we want names! : ) Second, how does the wife feel about James acting with hot Maxim Models? I’m sure she isn’t too happy seeing hot models swoon all over “The Nerd”. lol!
Bruce Campbell is a name that comes to mind for this movie. Whether they asked or he offered, or even considered, he seems great for a role in this project.
I can’t wait for this film. I’m willing to travel to a nearby theater to see it! Take your time with it, but hurry the hell up! The suspense is KILLING ME.
Best of luck, not just with the casting, but with the whole film. I, like many, wanna see it. Thanks for the insight on casting in LA, too. Sounds very believable.
I don’t want you to ruin the surprise of anyone that is or even might be in the film, but can we get names of some of the people that were rejected or made offers to act in the movie but only for $25 a day? No spoilers, just something to tide us over.
I’m sorry but, this is a low budget movie and you’re shooting most of it in LA? likely the most expensive place in America to shoot a movie.
I would guess you need it to be in the area for maybe the last half of the movie where the nerd finds the dumping site of the copies of ET in the desert or something like that, but besides that you should of just of stayed in PA , take a lesson from Kevin Smith, shoot locally with local actors and your friends, like you have for every other past project, that would save you a lot of time and money trying to cast and nobody would be charging you $2500 a day to be in it.
Finally, like everyone else I’d like to see Mike in this movie, I hope that he can , I know he has a lot going on just keeping the website up, but it would be nice.
I’ll go with everyone else and say that Mike should most definitely have a role in the movie, but my guess is it wouldn’t be a large role. My guess is Mike would probably be happy with just being a small bit part / cameo while you do cast someone that will work as the friend character. I hope this all goes well and we can start seeing some of the final product.

@josh587 “TRUE FANS” CAPS LOCKS! Is James an actor?
Shut up - Mike is part of the website, he’s funny,. why shouldn’t he be in the movie. AVGN movie, serious business
@Stonen80 @josh587 Josh is right. Mike is not going to be in the movie. I dont think Mike wants to be in it anyway.
Stonen80

@Stonen80 @Doogrisa Okay I found where it was and he said….
- I do NOT plan on being in the movie. I am not an actor.
- I am NOT going to be taking over for AVGN. James will return to AVGN episodes at some point once the movie is shot.
- I will be working on Movie reviews for the website while James is away filming.
Go to Nerd-Log Packing and search for it. Therefore i am right.

@Stonen80 This guy gets it. Exactly. Acting for fun in free videos over the internet is one thing, but being in a feature film is another. Anyone who’s modest enough to admit when they’re not good enough for something is okay with me. It’s the over confident douche bags that make asses of themselves that I think are retarded. You’ve gotta know what you’re good at and what you’re not. While Mike is a very funny guy, I agree, he’s no actor. Then again neither is James, and I’m sure he’d admit to it and agree. Just because you appear in front of a camera, that doesn’t make you an actor. Are you a chef just because you can boil and egg? Fuck no. Theres a difference between doing something and doing it well. James is a fantastic director and behind the scenes guy. His work in that department is fantastic and I love his style, and while I LOVE the avgn videos and laugh my ass off, its clear that he;s just having fun and not necessarily taking it really serious. That’s what its all about right there.
Johnthegamer
March 7, 2012 at 1:47 am
@josh587 He’s been in just about everything else James has done why not this? go back under your bridge troll, be gone!
@Johnthegamer You can’t be fucking serious what you just said? Just because they have been in nearly every video together doesnt mean Mike has to be in the movie with James. You trolls are like forcing him to be in the movie even though Mike has said he will not be in the movie and he is not a real actor.
kazekirifx
March 8, 2012 at 1:02 am
@josh587 Hey! Wait a second. From the AVGN Wiki: “Mike Matei is an actor, writer and illustrator…”
@kazekirifx @josh587Now this is just arguing semantics. Yes, Mike’s been several on times on camera performing the role of a character, which means that he did some acting and that may be enough for some people to call him an actor.
However, normally when we say that one is an actor or actress, it’s implied that he/she performs this craft on a more “serious”, professional level. It may be pretty hard to draw the line, and sometimes it boils down to whether one thinks of him/herself as a real actor/actress or not. Mike does not and that’s about it, he’s not going to be in the movie.

March 7, 2012 at 12:25 am
I didn’t realize that the angry nintendo nerd movie is going to be a decent budget movie. What is the movie’s budget going to be?
@bioject He said the budget was originally around 75 grand but the donations totalled to somewhere over 200 thousand, and he plans to use it all. In fact he found that 75 grand wasnt going to be near enough anyways, so he was happy with the 200+ result for that reason. I think even 200 is very little to work with, though im sure much appreciated. Just think how much those big hollywood pictures cost. MILLIONS. even a 200K movie is going to be low budget. But hey, I love amateur/B quality movies. Those are the best kind. I’m sure James will be great with using the money wisely though. He knows what he’s doing, and he’s going to make it the best he can with what he has to work with. So no need to worry.
@CraigMillar I’m pretty sure the total earned was 324k or something like that. I’m hoping for a total homage to all things B movie!! He’s gonna rock it.

March 7, 2012 at 12:33 am
James, you need to cast Ron fucking Jeremy. He is desperate for some real film action and bet he’s cheap.
SoI have a question and I always wondered if this was ever answered. Is this AVGN movie going to be free on here for the fans, or are we going to have to pay for the DVD. I hope I don’t seem like I’m coming off as a snobby person by asking if we need to pay for it or not.
So I have a question. I hope this doesn’t sound snobby of me to ask and I don’t know if this was ever answered. Do the fans get to see the AVGN movie for free on here or are we going to have to pay for the DVD. Again I’m not trying to sound like I’m being snobby, it’s a question of curiosity and I’ve been watching these for a while but I never saw if that question was answered before.
@FoxD89 That’s something I’d like to know as well. I know people were suggesting that IndieGoGo investors should get a copy if they donated $50 or so, but I don’t think that ever transpired. Hopefully it’ll be on here but keep in mind that it’s bound to cost a lot more to film than TGWTG’s Kickassia or Suburban Knights, so if he feels he has to distribute it immediately then that’s his call.
@A Person Yeah in the end it is his call. I hope its free, lets be honest who doesn’t. However the fans donated their money to him so he could create it and in the end that’s his project they helped with so if he wished to sell it than by all means. I know the fans who funded him would pay for it in the end. Long story short, I hope its freeeeeeeee
Johnthegamer
March 7, 2012 at 1:45 am
@FoxD89 My guess is yes, you likely will have to pay for the DVD, seems only right to me after all it’s fans like you and me who wanted it and James is spending his time and money to make this, so paying like $20 dollars for a DVD is the least I think we can do.
@Johnthegamer If everyone was like you we’d never have anything cool in this world if no one took risks. He’s shot movies locally with his friends in PA all his life, he’s had enoughand wants to risk something bigger for a potentially much bigger payoff. You cant get that if you do the same thing over and over.
I keep seeing “AVGN movie” but for some reason I always say “The Angry Video Game Movie” or AVGM. I don’t know why but it flows better in my head. It’s probably best to have it be “The AVGN Movie” though, for brand recognition and all.

@josh587 “TRUE FANS” CAPS LOCKS! Is James an actor?
Shut up - Mike is part of the website, he’s funny,. why shouldn’t he be in the movie. AVGN movie, serious business
March 7, 2012 at 12:20 am
@Stonen80 @josh587 Josh is right. Mike is not going to be in the movie. I dont think Mike wants to be in it anyway.
March 7, 2012 at 12:30 am
@Doogrisa @Stonen80 @josh587 He may not be,. however,. this is an AVGN movie right? No MFer mike, it would just be MFin’ mediocre.
March 7, 2012 at 1:19 am

March 7, 2012 at 1:47 am
@josh587 He’s been in just about everything else James has done why not this? go back under your bridge troll, be gone!
March 7, 2012 at 4:33 am
@Johnthegamer You can’t be fucking serious what you just said? Just because they have been in nearly every video together doesnt mean Mike has to be in the movie with James. You trolls are like forcing him to be in the movie even though Mike has said he will not be in the movie and he is not a real actor.
March 8, 2012 at 1:02 am
@josh587 Hey! Wait a second. From the AVGN Wiki: “Mike Matei is an actor, writer and illustrator…”
March 8, 2012 at 3:41 pm
@kazekirifx @josh587Now this is just arguing semantics. Yes, Mike’s been several on times on camera performing the role of a character, which means that he did some acting and that may be enough for some people to call him an actor.
However, normally when we say that one is an actor or actress, it’s implied that he/she performs this craft on a more “serious”, professional level. It may be pretty hard to draw the line, and sometimes it boils down to whether one thinks of him/herself as a real actor/actress or not. Mike does not and that’s about it, he’s not going to be in the movie.

I didn’t realize that the angry nintendo nerd movie is going to be a decent budget movie. What is the movie’s budget going to be?
March 7, 2012 at 12:31 am
@bioject Over 9000 billion dollars!
March 7, 2012 at 12:46 am
@bioject $325,000.
March 7, 2012 at 12:28 am
I didn’t realize that the AVGN movie was going to be a decent sized movie with real actors. So what is this movie’s budget going to be?
March 7, 2012 at 2:17 am
March 7, 2012 at 2:54 am
@CraigMillar I’m pretty sure the total earned was 324k or something like that. I’m hoping for a total homage to all things B movie!! He’s gonna rock it.
March 7, 2012 at 12:33 am
James, you need to cast Ron fucking Jeremy. He is desperate for some real film action and bet he’s cheap.
March 7, 2012 at 12:40 am
Good Luck!

SoI have a question and I always wondered if this was ever answered. Is this AVGN movie going to be free on here for the fans, or are we going to have to pay for the DVD. I hope I don’t seem like I’m coming off as a snobby person by asking if we need to pay for it or not.
March 7, 2012 at 1:16 am
So I have a question. I hope this doesn’t sound snobby of me to ask and I don’t know if this was ever answered. Do the fans get to see the AVGN movie for free on here or are we going to have to pay for the DVD. Again I’m not trying to sound like I’m being snobby, it’s a question of curiosity and I’ve been watching these for a while but I never saw if that question was answered before.
March 7, 2012 at 1:24 am
@FoxD89 That’s something I’d like to know as well. I know people were suggesting that IndieGoGo investors should get a copy if they donated $50 or so, but I don’t think that ever transpired. Hopefully it’ll be on here but keep in mind that it’s bound to cost a lot more to film than TGWTG’s Kickassia or Suburban Knights, so if he feels he has to distribute it immediately then that’s his call.
March 7, 2012 at 1:27 am
@A Person Yeah in the end it is his call. I hope its free, lets be honest who doesn’t. However the fans donated their money to him so he could create it and in the end that’s his project they helped with so if he wished to sell it than by all means. I know the fans who funded him would pay for it in the end. Long story short, I hope its freeeeeeeee
March 7, 2012 at 2:00 am
You should of just shot this locally in PA with your friends and local actors, you would be saving yourself a lot of money.
March 13, 2012 at 2:22 pm
@Johnthegamer If everyone was like you we’d never have anything cool in this world if no one took risks. He’s shot movies locally with his friends in PA all his life, he’s had enoughand wants to risk something bigger for a potentially much bigger payoff. You cant get that if you do the same thing over and over.
March 7, 2012 at 2:01 am
I keep seeing “AVGN movie” but for some reason I always say “The Angry Video Game Movie” or AVGM. I don’t know why but it flows better in my head. It’s probably best to have it be “The AVGN Movie” though, for brand recognition and all.
