@Jingleboy If I just had money to burn, I think one thing I would probably do, is build up a collection like this. Not QUITE like that. I wouldn’t bother with some of the real crap he’s been sent or gotten over the years like the CDi or some of the old Colecovisions or whatever. But I would bulk up my NES and SNES collection, try to get a working old Game Boy and get more games for that, Master System, Genesis, Atari 2600, probably a Saturn, stuff like that. Just to have them. I mean, my friend and I have a pretty decent NES and SNES collection, and even N64 going on. But only a fraction of that. Man…..to say that you pretty much literally own every NES title ever release in the NA, and some even from Japan and EU……crazy.

Honestly, I’m all for Star Wars 3D rereleases. I’ve seen The Phantom Menace 3D, and I believe it has plenty of potential with the later entries. At least, it gives me the chance to see Star Wars on the big screen just for the experience.

Ah yes, the Sega 3D Glasses. I had these as a kid, but the only 3D game I had was Missile Defense 3D. It was pretty cool, you got to use both the 3D glasses and the light gun.

3D was a huge fad when it first came out in the 50s. Then it faded out. It became a huge fad again in the 80s, around 86 or so when I went to Disneyland and saw Captain EO. But then it faded out. Certainly there’s something to be said for the new 3D technology being a lot better, and of course IMAX has been around since before this new fad took hold. But I still feel (and honestly kind of hope, personally, that it fades out again. It won’t ever truly make movies “better”, and it will never honestly be anything more than a gimmick. Maybe not as cheap a gimmick as it was in the past. But still just a gimmick.

I wonder if this works at all like the 3D dvd set I have. There used to be a Japanese Laserdisc format entitled VHD where 3D movies like Dial M For Murder, House Of Wax and Friday the 13th part 3D were released on this format except, instead of stereoscopic Red and Blue 3D it was anaglyph 3D with clear glasses that you would electronically hook up to the player and would digitally pull the two fields together. It worked great on standard televisions but not on flat screens, using the curvature of the screen to its advantage.
Sometime in the early 2000s there were a handful of direct to dvd b movies that were produced specifically for a 3D dvd viewing system that basically used the same technology. I have a rip of the Friday the 13th part 3 VHD formatted to this system and it works great!

The 3D wasn’t all that bad for the Master system. Blu-ray 3D now is only marginally better. I remember Missile Defense 3D and Maze Hunter 3D were the best 3D games on the Master System. As James said, it’s better than the Rad Racer Red & Blue crap.

After her first posting, so many guys were negative to her. In her second posting she seemed to have ignored them as she didn’t address any of the comments and simply talked about the topics at hand. The first post was titled “Mrs. Nerd Speaks” and the second one “Mrs.Nerd Responds”. If James feels that this negativity directed towards his wife is too much I’m sure he would let us know in a video posting.

I thought this was a legit video review on the 3d glasses… Instead I got small-talk and an abrupt ending… I am trying to stay away from this site until the movie is complete in the hopes the website will get the attention it used too. This could have been saved and used in a much more worthwhile way in a future “AVGN” but I feel silly even saying that. I feel like ignoring the nerd episodes for so long while working on the movie is going to mean one of two things. The film is not going to focus on the Nerd like we all thought and instead will be more about the actual James Rolfe and his back-story… OR it will be about the nerd as expected, and only the die-hard fans who could maintain an interest in a series that seems dead in the water will be buying the film. (hopefully not the case)
I am not trying to be a little troll and say More AVGN! I fully understand how the project could become tiresome, trite, and overdone to the artist. But I also think it is James’s claim to fame whether he likes to admit it or not. And “AVGN” is in my opinion the best possible viral marketing he could possibly have for his future movie project. It brings in the viewers! I started out with AVGN and later moved on to watch all his horror reviews and indie films. And I enjoyed them exponentially! BUT!!! It is just as disheartening to see that James clearly has a case of “Spock Syndrome” where he seems tired of the one thing that got him his acclaim. That and his tireless work and effort of course!
I am still a fan and still have faith the site will return to its former glory AND I have faith that no matter what. The film will be a vision of James’s. And that alone is worth witnessing. That creative spark is what inspired many of my newer hobbies, and rekindled a few old ones!
If James can just have fun with the AVGN series like he clearly used to… Instead of making each new episode bigger and better than the next just focus on the game and not the video itself. James is naturally talented and now has fame and standards. But that does not mean you have to stop having fun!
Sure us fans are loudmouths and jerks with kind and nasty things to say… But before we were around it was just James and a fun idea that grew and grew. Keep that idea your own and always let it be what YOU want it to be. Not us. It might bring back some of the fun that was lost along the way…

James has stated a thousand times that it will be about the Nerd character going out into the world, so saying that it’s gonna be another James Rolfe backstory thing, even though he’s moved out to California and begun casting and location scouting for a feature film about the character makes this option pretty unlikely. He’s also stated that if you want a “cinematic” Nerd episode, reminiscent of the movie, check out the Rob the Robot or Nintendo World Championships episode.
More Nerd episodes would be great marketing if it weren’t for the fact that he’s still got to film the movie, itself, which is both time-consuming and expensive. Maybe he’ll do some small Nerd videos during the marketing phase of the project and make appearances in other videos. That’d be great.
He’s obviously /not/ tired of the character, because he’s essentially putting together an entire film production based on the character, which isn’t an easy thing to do, and to make an entire feature film with a quarter-million dollar budget *funded by fans* is a pretty ridiculous thing to do if you want to get away from said character.
Lastly, he makes his videos bigger and better not because he feels he has a standard to set, but because he wants to make them bigger and better, because he’s always said he’s a filmmaker before a gamer and that’s his passion in life.

@BrandonSmith For the most part I appreciate the input and criticism. But the last line has me scratching my head.
That aside I also hope for the best when the movie is finally finished.
Thanks you for being clever and not just jumping down my throat for posting something other than “I WUV IT” I cant stand when folks rage at a post that is something other than repetitive ass-kissing. I compliment James constantly but I also like to share thoughts on here as well. I make a effort to be kind and offer support as well as criticisms. And any intelligent reader will see this.

@DaveMcGrath first off, the movie is going to be very much focused on the nerd, not james. the comparison he always makes is wayne’s world from snl to the wayne’s world movie. secondly, it’s a pair of fucking 3D glasses, what else is there to say? and did you not just see that 15 minute long review of the VR stuntmaster? sheesh how needy are you?

@KohlDayvhis I actually said I am not on the site often. So no I have not seen the VR review. Thanks for being a butthead about your response though. All that aside I will check the video out.
