The full Picard Song is by DarkMateria. The same guy also did The Worf Song and a song called Frame of Mind based on the Riker-centric episode of the same name. Just looke up “DarkMateria” on Youtube and you’ll find all three.

If you haven’t noticed, the only people that supported that bill are the major Movie and Music corporations that have already made tons of money off of us. Online piracy only levels the playing field for us, the people that already gave enough of their hard earned money so that those assholes can be that rich in the first place. They still make more than enough money in theaters and try to milk the poor even more with DVD sales. If you don’t know, there are people in America that are poor. People that can’t afford to go to the theater. So for some people, this is the only way they get to see movies or listen to their favorite songs. I’m not saying that everyone should download movies and music for free, because if everyone did that. the artists would never be able to make a living doing what they do. If you can afford it then buy it. But If you can’t afford it because of how fucked up the American government is, then there is no other choice.

If people have the option to download shit for free versus actually supporting their favourite artists they’ll choose the former unless it’s NIN or Radiohead or some other pay-what-you-will nonsense. Of course Trent Reznor doesn’t give a fuck if you pay or not, but struggling local acts who very well may kick ass (I know!) are getting fucked by people like you. And, it’s less about poverty than it is about greed, isn’t it? You can afford to pay an ISP, can you not? Or your parents can, rather? The government, fucked as it is, has very little to do with the economy; there’s a very clear distinction due to, well, people who want government out of “their business.”
Bottom line (no pun intended): don’t worry about what ignorant assholes like jemis say. It’s not that big of a deal. What you’re talking about is far more insidious.

Wow, Mike, that Star Trek convention story is pretty messed up. I’ve been to a few conventions myself, and the first one actually had the security dressed as klingons. I found it pretty funny to see klingons smoking outside. Of course, there was also the time when they announced over the loud speaker: “please refrain from taking photos of Michael Dorn…the camera flashes are blinding him.” Anyway, that story of yours has to be the ultimate convention wtf.

I wonder if there is something like “Sinnlos im Weltraum” in english, too.
If you don’t know it, Sinnlos im Weltraum is a German resynchronization that makes the characters talk stupid things that match gestures/mimic while its lipsync is better than the original German sync. They also rewrote entire episodes to have different contents, in one they talk 2 straight minutes about coffee and all they get it’s just dark black, boiling hot, real tasty, extremely black… and it won’t be black if you put milk in it.
They didn’t only put care into resync and mimic/gesture matching, they also made sure that whatever they say is nonsensical, as well as perfectly inverting the personalities of the bridge crew. Picard is now a violent hobby-alcoholic, Riker has an IQ of 3 (while a dead rat has one of 10), Worf behaves like a four year old sissy, Data has one bit of storage capacity and can get any one-digit addition to a wrong result within 3 hours.
