@metalcommand What, that last glitch is totally useful. If your sibling is refusing to get off the damn NES, grab the controller to show him a “cool trick”. The game will freeze, and he will lose ALL HEART. Now the TV’s all yours, and only at the cost of your younger brother’s happiness!
@Yomamasauce I wasn’t trolling, I just know James never uses roms and the ways the recording was you can see a line down the side like if he recorded off one… I’m just amazed, that’s all…

@nowhere4321 @AndyGarner @Yomamasauce You know, ROM is an acronym for “Read-Only Memory”. All Nintendo cartridges are in fact ROMs. The word ‘rom’ just got popular with web sites/ftp servers/etc. spreading ROM Images (as files), and for many people (who obviously didn’t know or care) the word ‘rom’ or ‘ROM’ started meaning ‘a game file’ or ‘a file version of a game that can be used with emulators’.
The separation between a ROM Cartridge and a ROM Image (of a cartridge), or a ROM File / File as a ROM got blurred and the way masses always misinterpret and misunderstand previously clear terminology took care of the rest of the confusion.
It used to be common knowledge that there were two types of memory: ROM and RAM. ROM is a ‘permanent’ memory that you cannot alter (like a Kernel or BIOS), while RAM means “Random Access Memory” and can be freely altered. But when mainstream got interested in computers, it all went down to sewers, as usual.
So saying what many people here are saying about ‘ROMS’ is false, inaccurate and a little bit unintelligent (for the lack of a better ‘non-insulting’ word). If you want to use the word ‘rom’ to refer to files, why not just use a more proper term “Rom File(s)” or “Rom Image(s)”? You could even use a term like ‘Game Files’, perhaps. But using the term ‘rom’ or ‘ROM’ to describe files only is just plain wrong (in so many levels).

Hi I’m Yomamasauce! Long time viewer, first time poster! Love cinemassacre, cant wait for more soon. I’ll be in touch!
Mike your videos are fuckin awesome. I don’t expect you to act a certain way or talk a certain way like fast or slow,..(wtf was that btw) or to teach me helpful hints and shit. I like your videos their funny cause your just being…well …you. And that my good friend is why your good at what you do. Kudos to you. (like the ones off of Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast)
@gamers_love_sprite I don’t know about “the easiest ever. I think you meant to say, the FUNNEST ever. But hey, it’s an easy mistake, so I’ll forgive you.
Keeping Cinemassacre alive while James is away and working on the movie is a big responsibility. Taking time out of your own schedule to do these things is great, especially since you really don’t have to.
Mike dont listen to the trolls, no one here is watching to get helpful advice lol.. this is glitches and its just fun seeing what shit u can make the game do
i like it and keep it up, but pls dont get down on their level
It`s so funny how some people really seem to believe that these kind of sites
are meant to provide some kind of consumer service. The funnies example i`ve seen is in the comments to Spoony`s “Party Mania” review, a dating board game for girls from the 90`ties with a hilariously stupid video enclosed. Spoony mocked it relentlessly (in drag, mind you..) Still lots of people was like:”This was stupid how about the gameplay?”…
These are really fascinating to watch! I have a recommendation for a future episode, too — an NES glitch I’ve never seen anyone else talk about. In Rygar, enter the final stage (the floating fortress), and immediately jump off the screen into the sky to the left of the entrance. Rather than plummeting to your death, you’ll wind up walking on top of the fortress walls and glitching all over the place. If you remember the way you came, you can actually jump back, too — but it’s more fun to explore parts of the fortress you were never meant to see until you inevitably fall through an invisible hole and die. (:
I never realized there was so much backlash about the ‘usefulness’ of these glitches. I personally found that mysterious HAL tribute/glitch when I played this game many years ago, and I thought the rest of the game was filled with tons of other quirky things if you could get the star to disappear in other stages.
Therefore anything shown, no matter if it crashes the game or actually helps you, is something I always wanted to see in as many games as possible. So keep this series going!
I’m guessing there’s a lot of morons out there who don’t seem to understand the difference between a “glitch” and a “trick” within a video game context. Sorry bout that Motherfucker Mike….not everyone grew up in the awesome 80s when we did. So…you know….they’re dumb.
All I get from recent videos is a springboard loading screen. Before anyone asks, no, I don’t have adblock enabled on any of the cinemassacre pages and quite simply never have.
I used one of your glitches and died. ass munch. LOL JK. These glitches freaking rule. Don’t know who would complain about them considering very few glitches are ever helpful period.vShould do Mega Man X next. That is full of glitches.
I get the feeling that people have been complaining about the glitches not being helpful . I don’t personally care if they are helpful or not, I just want to see glitches
I wouldn’t deign to call it a request, but consider it a suggestion, if it wasn’t already on your proverbial plate: Wizards and Warriors (1). It’s an awesome game, and I already know of at least one specific glitch that turns the game on its head–and it certainly seems you typically cover glitches that haven’t been widely documented yet, so I’d be interested to see others.
I mean…. christ, I don’t mean this to sound insulting but it will anyway, do you have a day job? The glitches you’ve demonstrated on this show have almost all been ones I’ve not previously heard about, and that’s the sort of thing I specifically look for in my spare time. If these are things you look for in your spare time too, you should really try to convince people to give you money for finding them, if you don’t already. If you could monetize it, I would probably pay for it. I love this sort of stuff. Be a professional tester.
That motherfucking mike glitching again huh And the useless gamebreaking glitches are always the most fun to see in my opinion. I love your glitch show and your monday schlock movie show!
my guess is that he must have been getting complaints in the comments of other glitch videos from dumb fucks that didn’t understand the premise of what makes a glitch…apparently they thought it had to be a useful glitch in order to count. Alot of people like to criticize and complain, but never bother to make their own videos.
I really like the glitch videos. Mike does a good job and he has a the patience and the skill to show us the glitches. Honestly, in many of the games I couldn’t even get to the places where the glitches are let alone have the patience to try over and over again to get them to work. PS: Just gotta say, Mike is fucking awesome. I find him to be somewhat of an amazing actor too somehow lol. I know that’s odd to say, because he’s mainly behind the scenes and plays random characters here and there, but my god…the man has a great understanding of the characters he plays. It’s not like he’s never seen the shit before, watches it once and goes “yeah…i can pull this guy off” No, you can tell he studied the shit out of these characters. For example, when he played that psycho dude on the texas chainsaw avgn episode. Not leatherface, but the other guy? Like wow…that was the best re-enactment of that weirdo ever. Looked exactly the part, had the same laugh, the same mannerisms. What a professional! I love Mike, maybe almost just as much as James. They’re both creative geniui (plural for genius’s lol) and both a very entertaining pair on this website. Mike has my seal of approval. =)
@CraigMillar The crazy thing is that he said somewhere, that he isn’t an actor. I think that was the answer to the question wheter he is going to be in the AVGN movie or not.
Mike is too humble if you ask me, he always did a great job as an actor in the AVGN episodes. My personal favourite is Mike as “The Joker” that was awesome.
I was playing Double Dragon (NES) the other day. When I came across the Abobos at the end of level 3 I moved to the far left of the screen. Consequently, the Abobos walked off screen to where they couldn’t be seen when I moved back to the center only one of the Abobos followed me back, and after I beat just the one Abobo the cave opened and I progressed to the next part of the stage.
And yea, i have done one glitches, what Mike shows: Mass use Microfon. I did that back then accident. If i remember right, it can use about 250 times and then it will disappear.
@TH93Fin Should be 255. Byte underflow means that when you subtract 1 from 0, it wraps around from the minimal value of a byte to the maximal value, and the result is 255.

Have you every thought of teaming up with Zero Punctuation from Escapist magazine who does funny reviews of newer games?
I don’t know what this Springboard BS is but it never seems to work on any compuer I try. I always get a 303 error saying “Failed to load a resource”. Please stick to blip!
@ljngamessuck @FelixErik Or people who are not registered just don’t bother. I’ve missed multiple videos because of this, but I really wanted to see this one so I figured I might as well finally say something.

@MrMurderx1221 @CraigMillar I, for one, enjoy any glitch, whether they’re useful, pointless or end up crashing the game. I wonder why we like fucking around with the games we love so much… maybe we just do it out of love, I know I do, haha

Kirby’s Adventure… In my childhood i didn’t own many Nes games
But i got Kirby’s Adventure, Super Mario Bros, Metroid and some other…
Kirby’s Adventure is one of my fave Nes games i have ever played, also it was those games, what i beat easily in my childhood, like SMB.

And yea, i have done one glitches, what Mike shows: Mass use Microfon. I did that back then accident. If i remember right, it can use about 250 times and then it will disappear.
Was that right, Mike?

@TH93Fin Should be 255. Byte underflow means that when you subtract 1 from 0, it wraps around from the minimal value of a byte to the maximal value, and the result is 255.

Have you every thought of teaming up with Zero Punctuation from Escapist magazine who does funny reviews of newer games?

Mike needs to have his own tab at the top of the website. That would be helpfull to find all of them.
January 28, 2012 at 1:31 pm
@YourBiggestFan He kinda does. If you put you crusor over the AVGN tab, Mike’s Game Videos is on the list.

If you use anything that blocks adverts, that is probably what is causing it.

@FelixErik
Yeah , I have trouble with the spring board thing, MOST days as well.. try using a different browser. Try clearing ya cache and see if that helps. ALso most of the vids will have another lil link where u can watch via blip.tv (its hard to locate) , thats how I had to watch a few of the vids

Most of these are premade its just something to keep the fans quiet till the movie comes out or till James comes back to New Jersey.
January 28, 2012 at 2:13 pm
