Here’s something my wife would like to post for you. Enjoy.
———————————————-
Yes, James is married.
* shock, horror, surprise, fainting, screams, sighs, pants-shitting, mass hysteria ensues
* the interwebs explode
* dust clears, life goes on…
Hello, I’m Mrs.Nerd. As you all know, until this very moment in time, I’ve kept a rather low profile. I feel, however, it is time to officially introduce myself. “Why now?” You may be asking. Well, there are a few things that led me to this decision…
The first thing I realized is that you all seem to really enjoy the “behind the scenes” type videos and glimpses into James’ “real” life that he occasionally posts here. I don’t blame you one bit. As a “fan” myself, those are the things I go batshit over. I love blooper reels, extra features on DVDs, and weird little glimpses into the making of things and the creative process. The fact is that I live with the mad genius himself and have been witness to some crazy and interesting stuff over the years. I have a lot of fun stories to tell and it just seems mean of me not to share them with you. I want to assure you that I don’t plan to diminish the “magic” of what James does or to get too “reality TV” by giving away all the secrets and airing all our dirty laundry, but I do feel I have a unique perspective that you all may find interesting.
The second thing that has become apparent recently is the lack of diversity on Cinemassacre. In its beginnings it was James and only James, so diversity wasn’t an issue, but now as the site expands to include new shows like OverAnalyzers, Mike’s Glitches, guest actors on Board James or AVGN and fun little videos like the TMNT Pizza Party its all too clear that this site is a caucasion sausage fest. While I can’t help to add any ethnic diversity, I can bring a female perspective to things that I think all 10 of the female viewers will appreciate.
Next, as I touched on above, Cinemassacre is expanding as a site. While James takes a “break” (I use quotations because I’m not sure James truly knows the meaning of this word) from the AVGN series to work on the upcoming feature film, telling my stories can help the fans get a “nerd fix” and also provide content for Cinemassacre’s loyal visitors. NOTE: I’m telling you, this movie is so worth the wait!
Lastly, as I mentioned before I’ve always kept a low profile, but I have to say it is nice to “exist” in some capacity. For years the rumors have stirred about James’ marital status and it feels good to clear it all up. I do want to be perfectly clear though. I’ve been around since before the beginning of all this and have been quite happy to remain two steps off camera doing my own thing. I have no interest in being on camera and my personal creativity is expressed through non-performance art like drawing, painting, cooking and writing (hence the written format.) I am doing this to tell my stories and provide a unique perspective to the site. I hope that it will help to satiate your need as faithful fans for new content and glimpses into what goes on at Cinemassacre Central.
I’d like to kick it off with a good old fashion Q&A. Leave your questions below.
UPDATE: Forgot to clarify. The questions will be answered in a second post. No exact time. We’ll be on a cross country road trip soon. The second post with the answers will come in at least a week from now. She will select a handful and answer them in a separate post.

As one of the few female fans with a unique endearment for James , I have to say Mrs. Nerd's post is very welcoming. To believe a 23 year old woman such as myself would find AVGN's videos to be hilarious is an understatement. With such creative talent and a positive outlook on future prospects, James will always be my role model, and like the Energizer bunny, I hope he keeps on going and going.

LikeWow. Well first off, as of right now there is 1,297 other comments so I know mine won't even get read, so, really, I'm talking to myself. This is the coolest post I've seen in awhile. I have a friend..of a friend who actually knows James, so I knew he was married, but that's all I knew. I didn't know you've been around since before it all started. I would ask a question but..again, this'll never be read. I'm one of the few people who have been a fan since before Screwattack, or gametrailers...any of that, before The Nerd was ever popular. I remember those first few videos. It's pretty amazing, I've watched James go from a unknown kid who made movies, to quite literally, a celebrity. I think people tend to forget James is well..James. He's a regular person. I think that tends to happen to famous people, we forgot they're normal people. Normal people who you don't get to talk to but..regardless. I owe him a lot. His various projects have been there for the worst time of my life..which is still ongoing but, anyways. I'll stop rambeling to myself. I'm glad the movie is finally underway but, I do have to admit I can't wait for my monthly dose of The Nerd to be back, His 100th video was released on my 21st birthday last year. James, you have got a pretty amazing wife, hope things stay well with you two.

LikeJimmyTheFish um, speak for yourself? The fact that there are only white men in AVGN is not the reason I like it. I like them because they are fucking entertaining... I'm also quite partial to other online reviewers like Obscurus Lupa and Rap Critic that star non male and non white reviewers respectively.

LikeMattyPerronJimmyTheFish I think it's pretty obvious that race shouldn't be a deciding factor in anything. However, if the fans are mostly white, and the people in the show are mostly white, it's not because James is being ignorant or deliberately excluding other races or whatever. If anything, it just shows who's more interested in the subject matter. It is what it is. Why change the formula just to get a more diverse following?

I look forward to finding out more stories and stuff. We finally know more beyond the random convention picture and the vague notion that you exist, haha! Thanks.

Likeman you've opened the floodgates now...but I'm sure you know how the internet works...guys who never get laid hate women and will take it out, anonymously, on you, because they have no dicks. "James is a nerd, but a girl likes him? How...why?" and they just implode with sexual frustration and nerd rage. But good luck to you, Rolfe's!

LikeTo mrs Nerd , a question....;
What's it like to have a person as pasionate about movies and games as james is in your life as a husband ? Doesn't he drive you mad with playing games and watching movies, when he's not making them ? I imagine he doesn't have a lot of time left in the day to spend on you for instance . And you have to be willing to play "secdond fiddle " a lot .
What is your take on this ? I ask because woman who will put up with a gaming adult male are scarce at best . And woman mostly think gamers are freaks at best , who should grow up and face " The real world .
(A phrase i got a lot )
I think it's great that you stand by him and support his "career " . A man is only as good as the woman behind him .
and yes,i am a man !

Likelunalicrichard What are the rules on girl gamers? Are they supposed to think guys that play games are freaky, but it's okay for them to do it? Or are guys freaked out by girl gamers a) 'cos it's switched the other way round or b) 'cos girls aren't supposed to like games. I live for games :D They are what keep me going :) Either there are many more girls that like gamer guys than you think or girls in the US are a lot different to the UK.

LikeRosinaLucyCalypsolunalicrichard Well said ^^ -- But I'm a guy also.. I respect all female gamers I just don't know why people view them differently.. Like they ghosts or something.. Girl gamers are awesome and I have more fun playing with them online then hot headed males who abuse other players..

LikeHeXiGONlunalicrichard Are girl gamers viewed differently? My boyfriend thinks it's awesome I like to play games with him and are into all the classics. I wouldn't know a lot about online gaming (Xbox live or otherwise) as I'm into the kind of games James reviews, I think the most modern gaming system I use regularly is my PS2 (I do have a Wii, but don't play much on it), but I'm sure that's true of girls being cool to play with and not as short tempered. I think society doesn't know how to deal with girls that are the stereotypical "perfect girl", 'cos when a girl with a sense of humor and pacman bed sheets comes along, they don't know how to deal and think it's strange. In short, they don't know what they want. And I know people will think I'm being sexist, I swear I'm not. I think this rule just generally holds true with guys mostly, there will be guys that are different. 90% of my friends are guys, I'm one of the boys, so please don't think I'm being derogatory.

LikeRosinaLucyCalypsolunalicrichard First ; I love girl gamers and have no prejudice on the subject . Let me explain a bit what i mean , since there seems to be some confusion . I am 41 years old , so woman my age are NOT into games and gamers , and do think we are some form of alien . with young girls it's totally excepted and normal as far as i can tell .
But even woman say 10 years younger then me ,don't like a gaming man .
as i said ; I would love to have a girl with whom i can share my passion for games . Old and new and as i said : A man is only as good as the woman behind him !

Likelunalicrichard Yeah, I think you're right, sorry, I never meant to imply that you meant any kind of prejudice, I was just interested in what you thought on the subject. Also, I know plenty of women in their 30s and 40s who like to game still, although, as you said, the ratio of older girl gamers to older guy gamers is aroung 1:9. I aim to be part of that 10%. I like that you have a lot of respect for Mrs. Nerd and women in general, you're one of the good guys :D

LikeRosinaLucyCalypso By the way ; I am Dutch , not English . And girls are different in the u.s then in any other country . But that is not a negative thing . American girls are really open and friendly for the most . that is very different then let's say dutch girls on average ,or German and English girls.
Or girls just hate my guts ...... witch is always an option ofcourse :-)

LikelunalicrichardRosinaLucyCalypso Ahhh right, sorry for assuming that you're american, I shouldn't assume things like that. I guess it's just 'cos AVGN doesn't get much mention in countries other than the US. Saying that there must be fan bases in many other countries, I'm English and love the nerd so that's proof. I must have been american in a past life 'cos I don't fit into the moody English girl stereotype. You're really nice and fun to talk to too.

LikeRosinaLucyCalypsolunalicrichard My girlfriend loves to game. In fact, she is more passionate about gaming than I am. She is also a model, and also an artist. Which leaves her little time to play games. However, she is also batshit moody at times, and doesn't want me to play games she hasn't finished. In other words, if she can't play Monster Hunter on the Wii for a month, I'm not allowed to progress any further than she has. We do have pretty much every gaming console since the PlayStation (the older ones are stored because of our cats), and whereas we mostly play new-generation titles (we are mostly RPG fans), that does retract me from gaming as well. We pre-order and have pretty much every note-worthy (99%) import and domestic RPGs since the PlayStation2, and that comes mostly from her wage, and I still hardly find the time to play games at all.What I mean to say is that "having a gamer girlfriend/wife" isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Being a SINGLE adult gamer is already hard if you're into the more lengthy adventure games, let alone when that time has to be partitioned between two people. Of course, our relationship takes priority as well, and that will also take up some time that could be spent gaming. In conclusion, "real-life" kicks in at one point or the other, whether we want it or not. Unless you're filthy rich and don't need to work or have responsibilities at all, "having a gamer wife" isn't that much different from having the Average Mary kind of girl. All that changes is that I can boast about the large amounts of games we've both finished, while satyrically pointing at her boobs and smirk, saying: "Perfect package" (of course, I would never do that), but the reality of the situation is that we are both adults and responsibilities make us less gamers and more adults all-in-all.Sorry about the lengthy response. Just thought I wanted to give my two-cents about what a lot of the younger audience today thinks about "being an adult gamer", and how they are sometimes illuding themselves.

Likehimawaririkulunalicrichard I work, go to college and have a long term relationship to maintain. I also care for my mum and little brother. I have responsibilities, I just choose to use the time I have left from doing my homework and everything else to play games. When I'm with my boyfriend we play mainly two player games just for fun, and I play my platform games in my alone time. Real life kicks in, when I have the chance video games, I can escape from real life, even if it's just for an hour or 2. James is lucky 'cos playing games and filming etc. is his job, he's doing something he loves :)
