Yes, I remeber this catoon, here in Mexico we used to watch that shit, in fact, sometimes it was so boring and somethings was interesting, but it brings great memories of childhoud and it doesn’t compares with the movie. HAPPY NEW YEAR JAMES Y MIKE, GREETINGS FROM MEXICO!!!
Wow, I never thought i would be happy that I watched this Series in German. I never noticed voice differences, because we dub everything and for us it was all done by the same Voiceactor.
Mike, you’re pointing out plotholes in a cartoon that happens to be based on a movie where people slowly fade away from a photo simultanously set to when someone alters history so that they’re not born. Do I need to point out what is wrong with this?
Damn it, Mike. Even motherfuckers should spend a little time on research before reviewing something.
A “melvin” is a frontal wedgie. He’s saying people would always give him an aluminum wedgie from the front. Not a boner.
The kids are saying “because his brain’s on Venus”. It seemed pretty clear to me.
None of the examples you gave actually break the fourth wall. In order to do that, the characters would have to admit they’re cartoon characters, or speak directly to the audience.
@ClevelandRock I know a melvin is a wedgie, and I know the kids are probably saying Venus. It just sounds like it could be “penis” the way they’re saying it. It’s just a joke.
As for the fourth wall, the characters are making fun of the fact they are always meet another Biff or Marty in another century as though they’re aware they’re in strongly contrived show. If they know they’re in a show, then it’s breaking the fourth wall. That’s how I saw it anyhow.
@MotherFucker Mike@ClevelandRock Was it supposed to be a joke when you said you played it several times and still heard penis? It’s just that at that point, it kind of tipped over the scale and became kind of…contrived.
The deal with knowing what electricity is possible to explain it with some info from the movie, since in the movie people slowly fade away from a photo simultanously when someone alters history, so it could be said that changes are do not happen right away, that is how Marty may have the idea of electricity. By the way, I remember watching this cartoon as a kid here in my country.
i dont think it´s a mistake for marty to continue reacting as he does whenever someone calls him a chicken. i mean, it´s entertaining industry, this animated series doesnt have to be 100% loyal to the movies.franklin didnt create electricity!i love the movies though.
I remember watching that cartoon back in the day. I don’t remember any episodes though. I completely forgot about Christopher Lloyd’s little scenes. I wish they’d release this and the Bill & Ted’s cartoons on DVD.
I loved this show as a kid. All these errors and such are obvious now but as a kid you don’t tend to over think anything. Just just want to see some action and fart jokes.
It seemed this was a heavy “edutainment” time, with shows like Captain Planet and Widget the World Watcher being out around the same time all having facts intergrated into the show. Which I remember I hated.
Bill Nye the science guy was awesome and I remember trying as many of these as I could as well as the ones he taught on his show.
I imagine when James is 65 he will be telling his grand children about the rage he had with the back to the future and hyde games in a very long tale like it was a war fought in a long away place called the land of nintendo.
I loved that cartoon. Especially the Ancient Greece episode. I also tried that same hot air balloon trick with similar results. I think I used a grocery bag…
i dont think it´s a mistake for marty to continue reacting as he does whenever someone calls him a chicken. i mean, it´s entertainment industry, this animated series doesnt have to be 100% loyal to the movies.franklin didnt create electricity!i love the movies though.
Talk about pathetic…nothing more entertaining then grown man children getting upset at plot holes for a television show targeted to kids. I mean seriously guys, I agree, the voice actors who happened to be the real live action movie actors should have spoken up about the contradictions in relation to the movies. I sure hope someone got fired for that one!
@jimjones If you think it’s ‘pathetic’ that James does, then why the hell are you on this site? They talk about dvd – menus that suck, movies that suck, board games that suck, games that suck…..
@jimjones “nothing more entertaining then grown man”? Apparently, you should be more worried about your “pathetic” excuse for English. Correction: “Nothing more entertaining than grown men”. Before insulting the creators of Cinemassacre, please learn proper English and have relevant accomplishments (such as owning a website). Every Human being is entitled to their own opinions, but you did not have to offend Mike and James, primitive filth.
Quality video, mate. Highly entertaining. Very, very clever. Giving James a run for his money here. Keep it up, mate—you just earned yourself a lifelong fan.
BTTF was my favorite thing as a kid but I never got the chance to watch that show, now I see how hit-and-miss it looks! I’ll give a try and I’m sure that I’ll end up analyzing it to death like the BTTF geek that I am, even the Telltale game got that treatment!
@AndreanneAndiDion If you’ve played the game you know that the Delorean was a temporal duplicate made at the exact same time that the Delorean got struck by lightning. While the original was sent to 1885 the duplicate was sent to 2025. Doc traced the temporal distortion created by that Delorean, retrieved it with the Time train, fixed it, and improved upon it putting an automatic return on it for just such an emergency that happens at the beginning of the Telltale game.
Mike Matei did a fantastic job here. Content-wise, this is one of the best videos yet, regardless of host. Such an excellent variety. I usually feel that Mike relies too much on his script, which is a shame because he is great in every one of the unscripted videos he’s in. While that overreliance was still the case here, the scripting and organization were top notch. The video had a very natural flow, which isn’t exactly common. VERY well done.
Mike, I love ya but I just can’t agree with this review as a whole. I’m not gonna hold it against you but I feel like questioning the logic of an 80s cartoon just seems pointless. I’m sure you’ve got plenty of great reviews ahead of you but I’m not gonna consider this one of them.
Just give me a BTTF Part 4! If only that was possible……..GREAT SCOTT! It is. If i just go back and tell the producers to…..damn! Im out of plutonium…. =(
I must watch this series, IT IS TIME! Kinda like the ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ tv series, it’s not as good as the movies but when you’re a fan, you have no choice!
I remember when this aired on TV. Funny you didn’t bring up the future space episodes and how absurd that reality would be… and who’d be named “Ziff”? I do agree that the PeeWee episode does ignore a fundamental moral from the BTTF movies and I felt that way at the time too but I feel there is far more that could’ve been commented on or analyzed as a best/worst episode for those reasons. Don’t you think even going into the Cretaceous/Jurassic era even for a moment would cause untold damage to evolution on this world? And the power going out episode, You need to do more research on quantum mechanics and timestream mechanics and impacts. The further back in time you go, no matter how small the change, it can be far more devastating a thousand years ago than a major change 30 years go. Jeez, and you call yourselves nerds…
Wow!… It’s been ages since I’ve seen this Cartoon. It wasn’t all that good but having Doc Brown show up to do little experiments at the end was pretty cool.
The Boston Beaneaters existed from 1883 to 1906. While it’s true that there is a team known as the Orioles now, and they’re in the same league as the current Boston team, they only coexisted from 1902 – 1906, and during that time the Orioles were actually the St. Louis Browns. However, there *was* an American Association team called the Orioles from 1882-1899, located in Baltimore. From 1892 – 1899, they were in the National League… just like the Boston Beaneaters (now the Atlanta Braves) were.
So… did the cartoon get it right by picking an old Boston team that was in the NL, and showed them playing a game against another AA or NL team, the Orioles? Or did they get it wrong, choosing a current American League team (the current Baltimore Orioles, formerly the St. Louis Browns) to play against the Boston team, which is now in the American league?
Either they got it right, or they got it wrong but by an amazing coincidence it looked right. The world may never know.

LOL Sounds Like Homer When he Say Doh
January 2, 2012 at 2:29 am
This series may hold a place in the BTTF canon-line, like how Doc got the Delorean back in the Telltale game, he built another one, why of course!
January 2, 2012 at 3:20 am
@AndreanneAndiDion If you’ve played the game you know that the Delorean was a temporal duplicate made at the exact same time that the Delorean got struck by lightning. @Cole_Patrick It was Bill and Ted’s bogus journey, not excellent adventure.
