thumbelina is supposed to be in the middle of the movie. santa is telling her story to the kids, but apparently in the 1987 released version of the movie, they put all the story at the end of the movie, making it a complete no sense
Awesome! Keep up the Brilliant work James! I’m a new YouTuber trying to get my channel out their! Please help by sharing! I Got a new video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_0Dg4GC2m0
OMFG!!!!!!! This was the very first movie I am told I rented when we got our first VCR back in the 80′s. I don’t remember the event specifically, but my dad often comments on how I chose this movie and it was terrible. This is the only other time I’ve seen anyone other than him mention it. Ever.
I followed James work for quite a while now and I have to say that these videos get more and more boring. When James said “Which is clearly just some asshole in a costume” / “Did she break into a fucking zoo?” I just stopped the video. Really? It was so forced and scripted and it’s not even funny. Do vulgar words make this video any more funny anyway? If he would’ve said “guy in a costume” or “into a zoo” it would’ve been funny enough because we see his point but this stuff is so getting old. If other find the repeating saying of dirty words funny then OK… but it’s still old.
At the moment there’s some guy on Youtube making Minecraft tutorial videos and I’m far more impressed and entertained by him that the latest stuff there on the site. Why?
Because he’s creative with his jokes he puts here and there in his videos. There’s a chicken looking at him he says “These chickens look at me as they were spies. They plan something.” or he has to kill an animal to continue his review he says “I really don’t wanna kill you but I have to. Sorry.”
It’s simple little stuff like that that makes me laugh and watch the video. If he were uncreative like James and Mike lately he would’ve said “These fucking damn chickens look at me like assholes” or “Now you’ll die you motherfucking cow cocksucker!” But he’s not like them. The 95% of people that need to say “fuck”, “shit”, “crap” all the time just to get some giggles from their 12 year old fans. I remember that in the last years James didn’t need to use these worlds in his Santa Clause reviews but this is just painful.

Cinemassacre, TGWTG, The iRip-off Gamer. What’s so funny about some guys saying “fuck” all the time anyway. And you give them money for that. It’s sad and pathetic.
@LulzFactory91 This is his style of makeing a video and if you dont like it dont watch it. I heard that there was a guy on youtube who makes good minecraft tutorial videos maybe you would enjoy them.
@LulzFactory91 There are only three vulgarities in the ENTIRE video, and you switched it off after only the first two? If you’re so prudish over language, how the heck did you even end up on this site to begin with?!
@LulzFactory91 Me personally, I don’t have a problem with this video, but you may have a point about the trend of ‘gratuitous swearing’ in internet reviewers… but this was probably the less appropriate video to voice that opinion :/ Of ALL the videos on the site, this is one you can’t hardly acuse of gratuitous swearing. Sorry, but it makes you look nitpicky.
@LicaWolf@LulzFactory91 I’m on the fence. On one hand I don’t have a problem with a little swear here and there now and again. I watch TGWTG and AVGN all the time. But I do feel James goes overboard on swearing from time to time. Look if the video contained as much swearing as one of his Nerd videos yeah I can see it,
I would like to see less swearing in the reviews, but I’m not going to whine and complain about it. It is James’ style to swear up a storm as the nerd. Doug does a lot less in his, so I enjoy him a lot more. To each their own.

If you think that the chicken jokes you mentioned from the Minecraft guy are funny, then you obviously have a sense of humor that differs from someone who would enjoy this site. I would suggest maybe checking out old Sinbad or Jeff Dunham stand-up videos or perhaps check out “101 knock-knock jokes” from the children’s section at your local library. These seem more your speed. @LulzFactory91
@drsid67@LulzFactory91 The few curse words that are in this video aren’t there to make it extra funny or something. It’s just part of our normal vocabulary.

@gamez Yeah you have a point. And Mike does too. I think part of the problem is originally James got famous doin AVGN stuff and has since branched out doing the other skit shows and a ton of video reviews, and he hasn’t clearly defined the line between howmuch of his celebrity persona is the AVGN and how much is just.. James. I’ve seen him comment various times that he is not the AVGN and that the nerd is overly harsh and critical and stuff for the sake of the character and entertainment. Yet it seems like whenever James does othr videos a lot of the nerd creeps in.
This means people watch his other work because they get glimpses of the nerd even though he isn’t there. But then they realize it ISN’T the nerd and end up not really liking the video content because it’s not as over-the-top or racy or crude.
Honestly I don’t care if there is swearing or not, I didn’t feel it was forced for the sake of humor in this, I would go with Mike and say it just feels like a part of James’ normal speech. And that doesn’t bother me, I enjoy a number of reviewers that use more rugged language because it feels less “packaged and processed” or homogenized for the general public. Down and dirty talk feels like he’s keepin it real.
But despite my enjoyment, I am beginning to see more and more that James will likely always be seen as the AVGN and so there is this conflict of interest. There is a little Nerd in all his current work, and you could say ” well yeah there is a little AVGN in all of us gamers”. But really the fact he does a lot of the swearing, line delivery and execution of narration/dialogue the same between the nerd or not the nerd makes him look like a one trick pony and some folk get bored, some get confused, and some just hate it.
James- I love ya man but.. I think you need to step up the game a bit and either create a few other alternate persona’s or find a line to better define between “James” and “Nerd”. Without it you’re going to keep getting these hot-and-cold comments threads where lots of folk love it, more and more folk hate it and a few people are stuck in between in the luke warm territory, slowly moving to one side or the other. I’d hate to see the polarity get any worse.

Lol, that “drug trip” thumbalina story is actually how one of the older versions of the story goes. Although it does seem less creepy when you’re reading a book and can’t hear that mole’s pedo voice.
I like this style of movie reviews. Fast paced synopsis of the movie, highlighting some funny scenes, pointing out some of the randomness and problems with it and simply let the movie make fun of itself.

Have a look at Rare Exports for 24th! It’s a finnish movie (with english subs ofc) and some english in it. About the original Santa! Most def you should make a video about it some Christmas.
Never seen this film before, it was from 1972 made by some company known as Pirates World. That theme park no longer exists, just like Freedomland closed down back in around 1964. Freedomland was an ill fated theme park located in the Bronx in the 1960′s, and Pirates Land didn’t last long than Freedomland. “Thumbelina” was added there, there was animated version by former Disney animator Don Bluth and it was made around 1994 or 1995 which is even better than “Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny”. Consider yourself lucky!
I actually bought the Rifftrax DVD of this a week ago, and thanks to the extra bit of info James gave on Pirates Island, I discovered that during Christmas we’ll be 12 minutes away from where this was filmed! So it’ll make the holiday viewing all the more special!
could you revew et for atri 2600 also revew scobby doo games because i have scooby doo for n64 and it sucks please revew it from your biggest fan ABKER DEMON
Imagine if I was watching “Annie”, it was a good movie, but when Annie and her friends are going to the movies and they thrown in a bonus film which is an excerpt from a 1937 film “Camille” with Greta Garbo. That was a nice addition when they saw a movie in a film. Just like they did with “Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny” with “Thumbelina” thrown in.
My grandmother jumped off a roof with an umbrella before the age of 10. And that was before the influrnce of television, though without television, there wasn’t much else to do back then.
So, if SOPA is passed, the only movies AVGN will be able to discuss is Night of the Living Dead and Turkish Star Wars. Oh, well. The greatest movie ever and the worst movie ever. Should be interesting.
December 19, 2011 at 10:15 pm

TL;DR version at the bottom
Sorry.”

The theme park that appears in and apparently sponsors the movie:

Never seen this film before, it was from 1972 made by some company known as Pirates World. That theme park no longer exists, just like Freedomland closed down back in around 1964. Freedomland was an ill fated theme park located in the Bronx in the 1960′s, and Pirates Land didn’t last long than Freedomland. “Thumbelina” was added there, there was animated version by former Disney animator Don Bluth and it was made around 1994 or 1995 which is even better than “Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny”. Consider yourself lucky!

BTW, there was a song called “Thumbelina” by Jimmy Boyd. It was on the flipside to “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”.

What a shitload of fucking bulshit. This is a vomit powder.
December 20, 2011 at 11:15 am
I actually bought the Rifftrax DVD of this a week ago, and thanks to the extra bit of info James gave on Pirates Island, I discovered that during Christmas we’ll be 12 minutes away from where this was filmed! So it’ll make the holiday viewing all the more special!

my god i thought you were kidding when you said this was a movie ..i was wrong rofl !!
December 20, 2011 at 1:14 pm
I really hate these crappy campy movies that look like they had a budget of about 30 bucks.
December 20, 2011 at 2:06 pm
Imagine if I was watching “Annie”, it was a good movie, but when Annie and her friends are going to the movies and they thrown in a bonus film which is an excerpt from a 1937 film “Camille” with Greta Garbo. That was a nice addition when they saw a movie in a film. Just like they did with “Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny” with “Thumbelina” thrown in.
December 20, 2011 at 2:14 pm
It’s clear the producers spent every penny of their $12 budget on this movie.
December 20, 2011 at 3:12 pm

My grandmother jumped off a roof with an umbrella before the age of 10. And that was before the influrnce of television, though without television, there wasn’t much else to do back then.
December 20, 2011 at 4:35 pm
So, if SOPA is passed, the only movies AVGN will be able to discuss is Night of the Living Dead and Turkish Star Wars. Oh, well. The greatest movie ever and the worst movie ever. Should be interesting.
December 20, 2011 at 4:52 pm
That is definitely bizzare
December 20, 2011 at 5:03 pm
