    the wait was worth it. it is like going to a buffet and just pigging out, and then you walk home and wait for several hours before taking a shit but it wants to come out but you tell it “no i have to let it build up” and when you finally take that shit it feels so good to be done with it and then you reward yourself with something awesome like Castlevania 4 or Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

    Funny shit James. This ep seemed light on overacting and came off a bit less straight off a script…love that stuff, classic nerd. The little off the cuff jokes and oddball touches really distinguish the nerd. The only thing ive been missing lately is the occasional rolling rock chug and some more doo doo turd content. Merry Christmas man and good luck with the movie.

    Well now that you have rounded out the Xmas bible game trilogy, it will prove intereswtng to see what tradition you have next for the coming holidays. Will 2012 mean reviewing games that take place at the end of the world? (or better yet, just after?) .

    As much as I love the AVGN and your work, this video felt a little less heartfelt and fun. It had more of a hint of “need to get it done and get back to what I really want to work on” than “this is just too much fun to stop”. I figure at this stage you have really moved beyond these short one off video’s and are craving far more juicy tid bits to sink your teeth into.Knowing the movie is on it’s way, I would say you have a healthy distraction on the horizon. Not to mention, you will always keep the best jokes and riff’s for the film so it makes sense to hold back a little. But… Don’t hold back so much that you are just making a handful of AVGN videos to appease your voracious fans and keep AVGN relevant for the movie. It’d be a shame to see the property get too stale and hurt your movie when it hits…

    Maybe have the AVGN do some reviews in arcades. Do you know anyone with their own arcade cabinets for popular (or even slightly obscure) games you want to try? I’d love to see you pull the nerd out of his basement(and thus, his comfort zone) and slap him into a random person’s garage, arcade or bus station where there is a game cabinet to be enjoyed. Then you have fertile ground to try all kinds of jokes, have the nerd rage on the cabinet and trash it, beat up little annoying arcade rats trying to kick his ass at a game.. or .. meet the angry video game nerdette.. lol… (or.. is this what the movie is going to do? haha).Heck he could even upper-deck a cabinet and drop a deuce down th whoel front/joystick/coinslot. lol.

    Either way I hope you haven’t grown tired of your own creation and just ache for doing something else.. I would understand if it happened.. but .. it sucks to come to such a realization.

    James I do have to say that “Adam and eve” is a blatant ripoff of Balloon fight, which is a rehash of Joust. So it’s actually the least original ;)

    The adam and eve game is a “balloon kid” rip off! That game is obscure, but it was great. I found the gameboy game in the snow in elementary school, turned it into lost and found, then was thrilled to have been given it at the end of the year!

    While I liked part 2 the most because of the section on Menace Beach/Sunady Funday this was still a pretty good review. All those endings for those games sucked, however. I hate games that just have such abrupt endings to them. You go through all that Hell (pun intended) and have nothing to show for it.

    Small complaint, but Gametrailers.com is terrible. I’ve never liked their video player, and the fact that my high speed connection at 1:24 a.m. on a Thursday has to buffer is a testament to that. I ALWAYS HAVE TO BUFFER AT GAMETRAILERS.COM.

    Yes I can understand why James would be getting tired with these videos (I still love them though). It seems like he’s toned down the anger in these newer ones, and what little he has sometimes seems forced instead of natural. This is probably because he’s run out of games that he’s hated from his childhood, thus he doesn’t have as much rage for the [newer] game built up in him. He’s just doing it to please the fans. He is also working hard on the movie.
    Regardless, I still LOVE his reviews (even the newest ones) and this was still an entertaining review. I love the character and the show. Keep up the good work, James.

    the ending was great and had the traditional nerd feel! And the christmas theme was present but not overpowering. Also I liked the fact that you dove back into “Flight to Egypt” just to get a bit of the nostalgia of the first episode if anything else!

    Just a random thought. If Folks comments ever get under your skin remember they are just comments and the people are lucky they have the chance to let you hear their thoughts. Not bcuz your the Nerd or Cinemassacre guy no! But because you are a modern day artist who has to deal with every fucking hack critic out there (myself included).

    I imagine the reason some madmen like Ed Wood managed to keep their drive and passion for what they did was (for one reason) the fact they did not have to constantly hear the reviews they got and things were watered down by professional media and the like making the Actor/Director’s choices feel more free. Basically Ed Wood did not have the whole world telling him 24/7 that he was a hack and a weirdo! And as a result he was able to thrive at what he did best. And to this day many of us get to enjoy it now. Whereas in the world of today a man like him would have been driven out of the public eye in a flash and doomed to obscurity.

    All I am saying is you have a unique vision and many people enjoy watching you do what you love. But always remember to shut the peanut gallery out from time to time and allow yourself to brood and get your creativity flowing.

    This episode was entertaining. But it certainly feels like the Youtube era of the AVGN is coming to a close, and it’s probably for the best. Quit while you’re ahead, so to speak. We already got more than 100 episodes, that’s plenty.

    Besides the movie (which I’m really excited for, by the way), I’m looking forward to more videos from Mike, like the glitch videos. Hopefully there will still be James movie reviews, and James and Mike Commentaries as well (love those videos). Who knows maybe the Nerd will pop his head out from time to time as well.

    Fucking fantastic. I’m mega happy that a new AVGN came out. And I don’t care that it was more basic than your other december themed episodes, I’m just happy that an episode came out! You know, you can probably just churn out a bunch of audio only episodes a la episode 1 and that would kick fucking ass. We just love hearing your voice and your opinion on these shitty games.

    And although there wasn’t a title card for this episode, that’s okay too. As much as we love and appreciate Mike’s work (and he’s a fucking brilliant artist) I realize how much fucking work it is to draw out those super detailed cards and then coloring it all in. It takes a lot of fucking time. So, although we love Mike’s work, it’s okay if he wants to take it easy too.

    This made my day :D thanks a lot dude! I just want to say, throughout my life i’ve had different shows kind of represent the era to me. Teenage mutant ninja turtles was my early childhood, then power rangers when i was a bit older. The spider-man and x-men cartoons were my younger teens, Simpsons and southpark were my later teens and early twenties, and honestly AVGN has been the show I will remember of my mid twenties. I can’t wait for the movie, and thanks for releasing episodes during the making! Long live the nerd

    I liked this one. It wasn’t quite as good as the other Bible Games episodes, but it was still funny nonetheless. The anger left just a bit to be desired, but it’s completely excusable since James is working on the movie. Overall, I’d say a nice episode. Nice job.

    Funny, the cover of King of Kings makes it look like the game may be a racing game (with camels). And I can’t help but notice that Wisdom Tree spent more money in the illustrations of the covers than in their actual games (well, in some of them at least).

    growing up I had the bible game with noah david vs the giant and baby moses baby moses for nes and when I saw the avgn vid on youtube I was hooked.       @JonnyKeuneke You know, I could see James submitting this to a number of film festivals in the indie circuit. If he managed to get this piece enough attention to be shown at the Sundance or Cannes Film festivals.. it might actually then tour europe and the U.S. as part of a package of noteworthy or award winning films.

      THAT would be awesome. James could see the world a bit and get some serious recognition. I’d love to see that happen, and I’d love to possibly see it shown at my local indie movie house.

      But if all else, we always have dvd.

    It took you a moment to mention Balloon Fight, James. I was almost shocked if you were going to call Adam & Eve “original” without noticing its extreme similarities.

    As always though, great episode. You don’t have to make big giant episodes, that takes too much time I’m sure. The simple little episodes like this where you play shitty games so we don’t have to (and give us insight to games we’ve probably never heard of) are the best ones you can provide.

    I know you’re r8 busy with the movie and other things and all, but bring more of this more often! I was dying there without a new episode.

    somehow, i like the “bible-games-reviews”. Isn’t it funny that some game-factories think they could have an income by selling biblegames? Many of them are not allowed to have fun except praying and do penance. And think about, how frustrating it must be for religous people to play a biblegame which has nothing to do with the bible but more with food and balloons, as example? Sometimes, I think it is a joke by the gamecompanies itself. Anyway, I am shocked how violent some of these religous games are although they are intended to be played by kids in religous families. Oh boy… What do they thinking? Like James said in one Episode: “If I’d be God i would be pissed.” or like I say: “… I would laugh out loud.”

    I just got a reply from someone in regards to my message? They said ‘He’s too busy to make mind blowing videos, he’s working on the movie.’ Dunno who sent it, but – I already know that! I didn’t criticise the vid. It wasn’t the best ever, but I dug it. I thought that Contra vid was cool too. I could relate to that one. I remember finishing Time Crisis 2 on a credit in the arcade when I was ten. The workers were waiting for me to finish so they could go home >< Still, I’ll bet a lot of gamers could relate to that Contra vid :)

    It’s ok that you finished the Bible Game series. But I have to be honest here. This is the first AVGN video that I really found bad. (Not power glove bad, but still bad) Several times in the video you say “I showed you this and that” “you have seen this in the last BG video”. Yes, I know I have seen it, as a long time fan I’m watching AVGN episodes almost every day. I’m still looking forward to new AVGN videos, but if you are too busy please take even more time. I don’t mind waiting for months as long as the quality is good.

      Ouch, you just laid it right on him, huh? AVGN definitely had some episodes I didn’t like either (just like every series I come to like). I did like his style better back when he did the double vision episodes, but I still enjoy AVGN episodes because he keep originality and it’s still funny in my opinion. As many of the other fans mentioned, though, production of the AVGN movie has significantly limited his time. Therefore, I’m just thankful he still is releasing episodes, which is more satisfying than shows I payed money for in the past. @JimmyBeaulieu

Look im a huge fan, actually donated money last week for the movie, and spent most of christmas day showing the family nerd videos…However what I have noticed is that , that crazy energy, passion and most of all “angryness” is missing. Seems like he is tired. Also whats up with that jacket (Please dont say you doing sponsorships now?) Look I know all great things end up going this way (Facebook, Microsoft, Apple) all start with the passion and end up with something different (not always bad though)..Guess I personally dont dig change that much :) . James Nerd, Dig your work, just do us an old school review…one for the fans!

That was one of his best work, and it was made this year :) I admit Bible Game 3 might not been a lot of people’s favorites (including me), but I think overall he is pretty consistent with the quality of his videos. Especially considering AVGN is not his main source of income. He haves to make time and put a lot of energy to make these videos… Just for us viewers (to watch it for free.)

I’ve never been the biggest LOTR fan, so I’d have to do some thorough research of the char, one wants to be popular, but popular for the right reasons! I love the nerd’s videos, but I must admit the vulgarity of them has worn on me, which is why I went so soft spoken in this. Plus, hey, it was an excuse to wear an awesome suit! I think next I’m going to review two pretty rare atari games, Out of Control and Shuttle Orbiter, I found both of them in the basement (no joke!) recently, and before I auction them away for textbook money, I figured it’d be worth doing some sort of review around them. And man, AVGN should review these games, they’re TERRIBLE, and well over $200 each to obtain.

    I played through all the three games of bible adventures (and I liked it^^). You said that david and goliath is all about sheep collecting. but if you get on top of the mountains you come to fight goliath :) . you just have to throw a stone into his eye to beat him. ok it doesn’t take much time (only one minute or so) and against five hours of sheepcatching…it’s a joke. but it’s funny to see :)

    Noah’s Ark on Bible Adventures is actually pretty fun. If you’re the kind of gamer who grew up to love games that prey on your OCD it’s actually entertaining, not to mention playable unlike almost every other one of these games. Sure, it’s no technical marvel but it was some good mindless entertainment.

    I do have donated but the choice of  five new episodes of the AVGN or vs dl the new Bond flick (or even the new AVGN flick or something even the cat even dont touch beound of the AVGN cult).     You now have to go through all 3 games and tell us if there is a final ending. You left us with as much a cliffhanger as with the “Flight to Egypt: game did for it’s ending screen!
