I only saw the original (8) and the remake (7.5), but the sequels look entertaining and funny!
October 25, 2011 at 11:27 pm
Everything after the original deserves a 2 at best. The original deserves a 9.5.

A 7 for part 2? I just can NOT understand that..
October 26, 2011 at 3:53 am
Part 2 is a GOOD movie, i dont know whats wrong with you guys. Part 2 is far scarier than all the other sequels, even part 3. Although i like part 3 better but that one feels more like an action movie, a good one of course. Part 4 is shit except for the intro and first the killings maybe, but all the rest just sucks balls. Part 5 and part6 suck from the beginning all the way to the end.
Freddy vs Jason doesnt even count to me as part of the original franchise, its like having a Superman and Batman crossover, they just make it for the sake of having the greatest heroes together but they know they cant exist in each others reality. And as for the remake, well, its just a waste of time.

Despite the remake being flawed, I thought it was a decent effort and I felt that they did enough new things with it to come off as a reasonably fresh experience, not a stale one as James said in his review. The real failing of the remake was that they introduced a major twist to the story, but then they chickened out and didn’t follow up on it. Even so, I think the remake is worth a watch and I absolutely disagree with James giving it a lower rating than 3, 4, and 5.
October 26, 2011 at 2:48 pm
Now, I’ll know which ones to check out and which ones to avoid if I ever decide to watch them. Thanks, James!

I love ANOES part 2, and it seems ALMOST everyone hates it. Why? Freddy is actually genuine creepy in this one like in the original and New Nightmare, not comedic Freddy that doesn’t deliver any little bit of horror.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (9.0) – Great start to the franchise, but I wish they started the series off where Freddy gets burned.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (8.5)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (6.0)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (7.0)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (4.0) – The movie was just ridiculous
Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (7.5)
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (3.0) – brilliant idea but the movie was just dumb.
Freddy Vs Jason (9.0) – I don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone says, this movie awesome, especially the fight scene with Freddy and Jason. But I have to say that Jason being scared of water is bullshit because I seen Jason in the water killing people in the Friday the 13th movie series
Nightmare Remake (2010) (2.0) – the actors suck, Freddie looks like an alien rather being burned. The only good thing about it is Freddy’s voice, which I was impressed with.

I must say you guys were on point with the ratings here great job
October 27, 2011 at 8:35 am
You know most people give Freddy vs Jason a ton of shit but it really wasn’t that bad.. Yeah the ending was a big cop-out because there was no definitive winner and those lame-ass teenagers ended up being the heroes as usual. But it definately delivered on the freddy jason fight sequences, and after all isnt that what truly matters with a movie titled “Freddy vs Jason”? Plus it has hands down the hottest heroin in either franchise. Heather Langenkamp is a better actor but nothing comes close to topping the massive awesomeness that is Monica Keena’s cleavage!

I really enjoyed Part 2. To me, its like Halloween 3, the black sheep of the series, but honestly, much better than any other of the sequels.
Nighmare (1984)

At least everybody agrees that the remake was a pile of hot ass.
October 28, 2011 at 7:34 am
You must’ve missed my earlier comment, because I don’t agree with your sentiment. Yes, the remake had its flaws, but calling the remake a “pile of hot ass” is, in my opinion, an absurd exaggeration and a statement without an explanation. The argument that James made about the remake being pointless because of a lack of original ideas at least has some merit. Like I said earlier, the filmmakers toyed with the idea of a major plot twist, but then they dropped the ball and didn’t pursue it, which would’ve made it a proper remake. The story would’ve been retold, but from a fresh new angle, one that could’ve opened up the possibility of Freddy targeting the parents instead of the kids.

TOP 5
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) My rating: 9.5 Classic.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) My rating: 9.5 just as good as the original.
Nightmare Remake (2010) My rating: 9 Apparently I am the ONLY person who liked this movie. Obviously not up to the original, however I got SICK of Freddy becoming a one liner machine. Different generation different views of what could be considered funny. I prefer a DARK/INSANE Freddy over a comedian.
Freddy Vs Jason (2003) My rating: 8 This was an ACTION movie no where near scary, but awesome to see them collide.
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994) My rating: 8 Great way to close out what was becoming a terrible franchise.
October 31, 2011 at 6:33 am
Actually, I liked the remake too (see my first comment). I thought it had some flaws, but I liked it.

I know that a lot of you say that Jason doesn’t fear water.
But the thing is that is while he is concious. He isn’t frightened of water (or anything) at all…however, he’s never actually been ‘asleep’ and terrorised by Freddy.
Freddy discovered that Jason drowned as a child and used water against him. As soon as Jason encountered the ‘water’ in his dream, because it was his deepest hidden fear in his subconcious, he became terrifed of it and Freddy had his fun torturing him.
