James / September 13th, 2011
Wow, this is WEIRD!
September 13, 2011 at 9:04 am
The costumes are better than Coming out of Our Shells… I guess… Nah, no they’re not… They’re awful.
September 13, 2011 at 9:06 am
Well, the costumes are a bit better than they have been, I guess.
September 13, 2011 at 9:14 am
i remember that street show from when my family went to disney world, yeah it was corny but not that bad
September 13, 2011 at 9:18 am
Anne Murray! I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
September 13, 2011 at 9:22 am
The saddest part is that these aren’t even teh worst costumes we’ve seen c/o Turtle Tuesday. WTF.
September 13, 2011 at 9:35 am
Looks like something I would force my mom to stay on the channel for way back then. Like when Barbara Walters interviewed the Turtles before the Oscars one time.
September 13, 2011 at 9:40 am
It’s still better than the Coming Out Of Their Shell Tour.
September 13, 2011 at 9:52 am
I remember that interview. That was actually pretty cool. @adamtalley
September 13, 2011 at 9:57 am
wow that was corny
September 13, 2011 at 10:26 am
Lol! They look like caricatures >.<
September 13, 2011 at 10:27 am
And thanks James for fixing the comment system 🙂
September 13, 2011 at 10:28 am
OMG xDD This was WEIRD XD
September 13, 2011 at 10:29 am
I’m trying really hard to like this, but wow that was awkward and weird.
September 13, 2011 at 10:33 am
I remember seeing this on Disney long ago. I almost expected all of them to start singing Songbird. By the way, I didn’t see the Barbra Walters interview, but I do remember an entire Oprah show dedicated to the turtles… can’t find any footage of that anywhere, but I swear I wasn’t dreaming. Anyone else remember that?
September 13, 2011 at 10:47 am
This raped my childhood in the way nothing else ever has.
September 13, 2011 at 10:52 am
Damn the lady who introduces the ninja turtles to Anne Murray couldn’t even recall each turtles name without looking at the letter on the turtles belt buckles. > . <
September 13, 2011 at 11:03 am
Sick! But i guess all this shows how incredibly popular TMNt was back in the day, I mean It rised so high that It had to go down to the pits of hell
September 13, 2011 at 11:07 am
Is it me, or did all these Turtles have the same voice?
September 13, 2011 at 11:19 am
Oh man, this was painful to watch. Those costumes must have been heavy because all those martial arts moves looked really laboured. And Andrea Martin was totally embarrassing.
September 13, 2011 at 11:27 am
This was filmed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the Streets of America. Used to, Disney had the rights to use the TMNT in their parks for meet and greets. I used to work there, but it was long after the Turtles disappeared. Apparently, they would show up in the Turtle Van and greet guests in the parking lot before they came into the actual park.
September 13, 2011 at 12:53 pm
Dang, Anne Murray, Andrea Martin, the CBC, cant get more canadian than that! What were they thinking!!!!
September 13, 2011 at 1:41 pm
September 13, 2011 at 1:52 pm
That just made me feel all kinds of awkward.
September 13, 2011 at 1:54 pm
Yeah we know you like ninja turtles, James 😀
September 13, 2011 at 2:12 pm
TURTLE POWER! lol wow
September 13, 2011 at 2:13 pm
September 13, 2011 at 2:14 pm
and I thought their appearance on Oprah during the “coming Out of their Shells” tour was bizarre
September 13, 2011 at 2:16 pm
yeah, it was during the concert tour. I remember actually watching it when it aired. @shawn.tewes
September 13, 2011 at 2:17 pm
There was a lot of strange things with TMNT. This is the strangest thing. I’m serious. I’m serious, shit!
September 13, 2011 at 2:40 pm
What the hell did I just watch
September 13, 2011 at 2:42 pm
Wowzers… That’s somthin’ alright.
September 13, 2011 at 2:47 pm
…..they look like the action figures.
WTF did I just watch?
September 13, 2011 at 2:49 pm
September 13, 2011 at 2:50 pm
@AndreasPerssonFondell …..they look like the action figures.
September 13, 2011 at 2:55 pm
@ScottChurchson Really? After Turtle Christmas, Coming Out Of Our Shells, Next Mutation, and that Turtle Tunes special, this lame, nothing little 5 minute appearance on a local Canadian station that was brief and maybe 10 people ever saw from 1990 is what rapes you? Uh. Ok. Little bit of an exaggeration, man. Don’t ya think?
September 13, 2011 at 2:56 pm
If I’d seen this as a kid, I’m sure I would have been excited about how popular my favorite cartoon had become, but I’m also sure that I would have been very embarrassed at seeing a grown woman trying to get into it.
@AndreasPerssonFondell But seriously. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a stupid segment.
September 13, 2011 at 2:58 pm
@Ike88 Something dumb.
September 13, 2011 at 2:59 pm
@LisVender I know. It’s about as bad as in the second movie, when April pretended to play with Mikey’s nunchucks. “I like to do a little chucking now and again.” Except this was played straight.
September 13, 2011 at 3:04 pm
@You Only Life Thrice They were probably thinking “Well, we’re at Hollywood Studios park, and we’ve got these Ninja Turtles park greeters in costumes at our disposal. Why dont we just throw them into our program for about 3 minutes, for the kids Kids like that Turtles cartoon. We’ll have our host do a ninja routine with them, while we’re at it. I mean, c’mon, nobody watches this shit, amirite? Let’s just film this crap, and go out for drinks.”
September 13, 2011 at 3:06 pm

And so they did.
September 13, 2011 at 3:09 pm
I don’t know what’s more baffling. The fact that whoever watched this actually recorded it…. Or that they actually skipped the rest of the show and THIS was the thing that they kept on the tape.
September 13, 2011 at 3:11 pm
That was painful.
September 13, 2011 at 3:12 pm
“You were great… just great…”
September 13, 2011 at 3:14 pm
@Reputator Personally, i’d say more “lame” than “painful” Like the kind of thing that you see, and then go “huh. …well THAT happened.” and then going back to what you were doing beforehand, like nothing ever happened. The kind of thing that’s so forgettable, that you don’t even remember…..
…Wait, what video was posted here again?
September 13, 2011 at 3:16 pm
@BarryHarmon I especially liked how her second “just great” was delivered with all the soul-crushed enthusiasm of someone who just realized in that microcosm of an instant what her career was destined to forever be, from that point on.
September 13, 2011 at 3:22 pm
This was when the Disney MGM Studios from Orlando had the TMNT show…Now it’s called Disney Hollywood Studios and the TMNT show isn’t there anymore.
September 13, 2011 at 3:28 pm
Weird… Which looks better, movie TMNT or those TMNT?
September 13, 2011 at 3:32 pm
the costumes..are better than the tmnt movies 10 times better. disney actually knew what they were doing. Great job disney
September 13, 2011 at 4:27 pm
how did she go from not knowing who the turtles where to knowing them all by name?
September 13, 2011 at 4:39 pm
there do i begin
September 13, 2011 at 5:00 pm
I must say… that was probably the most embarrassing thing on TV that… year? No, make it month.
September 13, 2011 at 5:01 pm
my jaw is on the floor
September 13, 2011 at 5:27 pm
Why did Disney decide to this abomination of a special? I grew up with Ann Murray’s music, and she just looked desperate for money in this. And who the hell is that Andrea? God she was a dorky broad, lol! And if any of these comments I’ve seen here really think the Turtle costumes are better than what was created in the first movie, well they’re dumber than they look.
September 13, 2011 at 5:30 pm
I like how she (obviously) looked at their belt buckles to remember who was who when introducing them. lol.
September 13, 2011 at 6:07 pm
I love live action tutrtles, its just so fucking funny
September 13, 2011 at 6:11 pm
This shows the beggining of the end of times as we know them.
September 13, 2011 at 6:16 pm
I agree with Reputator…I’m going with “painful”.
September 13, 2011 at 6:35 pm
This day was the best. Just the best.
September 13, 2011 at 6:42 pm
I’m pretty sure I remember this…
This was a television aired Disney Promo included in a live Disney celebration. I think it was a either a Christmas, new years, some sort of anniversary thing. You can also find that clip in an old Disney Promo tape.
As for the video…yeah…wtf?
September 13, 2011 at 6:44 pm
I just found it funny haha
September 13, 2011 at 7:29 pm
Holy crap that was hilarious! The turtles looked like they were on crack! xD
September 13, 2011 at 7:38 pm
That was the aunt from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Anyone else notice that?
September 13, 2011 at 7:39 pm
September 13, 2011 at 8:15 pm
No, but I noticed it was Hedwig’s manager from Hedwig and the Angry Inch lol.
September 13, 2011 at 8:59 pm
I saw this TMNT “show” live when I was a little kid! It was the most awesome thing ever at the time. In retrospect it really sucked. It was performed at what used to be called Disney’s MGM Studios; in recent years the theme park has been renamed Hollywood Studios. The new “updated” TMNT (as well as Power Rangers) show up for autographs in the theme park now in the backlot section, each with their own silly little show.
September 13, 2011 at 9:04 pm
0.0……. what……. the fuck… just happend
September 13, 2011 at 9:20 pm
@joelpettit25 Yes, that’s Andrea Martin from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She was a popular commedianne in the 80’s. I am disappointed, when reading other comments, how so few people even recognize her.
September 13, 2011 at 9:26 pm
@AlexMcmullin I agree.
September 13, 2011 at 9:38 pm
Interesting find……………I guess.
September 13, 2011 at 10:22 pm
WHAT THE MOTHER FUCKIN FUCKIN FUCK??? double plus STUPID
September 13, 2011 at 10:40 pm
I assume this is some kind of Canadian thing?Since Andrea Martin and Anne Murray are Canucks
September 13, 2011 at 10:42 pm
that wasn’t THAT weird……….at least, not until that freak in the dress showed up! seriously, what the fuck!?
September 14, 2011 at 1:00 am
Holy crap! Clearly this is in Orlando, Fl! Andrea Martin and Anne Murray in a Disney special? SCTV was off the air for like 6 years at this point!
September 14, 2011 at 1:03 am
Wow that was kinda weird. Still though, the turtles make everything better. Even if they are a crappy copy lol
September 14, 2011 at 1:07 am
how come they didnt talk?? plus those turtle costumes were scary 🙁
September 14, 2011 at 1:11 am
TMNT really was that huge. It was everywhere and into everything. Between Anne Murray and Andrea Martin, I thought this was from some sort of Canadian sketch show.
I still like these costumes better than the ones used in the Coming Out of Their Shells Tour.
September 14, 2011 at 1:34 am
Dear CinemassacreThere has been a brain cell genocide in my head and I’m holding you responsible.
…..me…what’s my name again?..2+2=7…dammit
September 14, 2011 at 2:25 am
-Head slams desk- brain no nuffin no mow O-o
September 14, 2011 at 2:30 am
In the song.. Raphael is what? She messed up the lyrics xD
September 14, 2011 at 2:43 am
I still say that monorail/train service thing was ten times more bizarre and scarier than this
September 14, 2011 at 2:49 am
The way the shells moved in the video was a bit disturbing. If I would have seen that as a child I probably would have needed therapy for several years.
September 14, 2011 at 2:50 am
Wow…nice two-tone suit.
September 14, 2011 at 2:58 am
The blasted turtles surrounded her but she’s too lame at fighting back.
September 14, 2011 at 3:03 am
@MikeFalcione wow You caught onto that good eyes
September 14, 2011 at 6:00 am
On the plus side…the costumes are well done 🙂
September 14, 2011 at 8:13 am
Wow never saw that as a kid but I think that year or the next they appeared at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Which was also awful.
September 14, 2011 at 8:46 am
She’s mostly well known for SCTV. Classic show. It’s kind of a shame she’s been reduced to making appearances in crap like this. @Zantara @joelpettit25
September 14, 2011 at 8:57 am
these costumes make the ones in tmnt 3 look good. THATS HOW BAD THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 14, 2011 at 11:31 am
September 14, 2011 at 11:38 am
Wow this is really weird
September 14, 2011 at 11:40 am
Keen-eyed viewers will know Andrea Martin not just from SCTV, but also from the classic ’70s horror film “Black Christmas,” with Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, and John Saxon.
September 14, 2011 at 12:43 pm
Biggest WTF ever :O
September 14, 2011 at 1:41 pm
Their faces… DON’T CHANGE!!!
September 14, 2011 at 2:07 pm
Hate to break it to you, but she sings it correctly: http://www.ninjaturtles.com/cartoon/theme.htm
These should have been the costumes for the movies.
September 14, 2011 at 2:20 pm
@NotInMyHouse Guilty. I posted the video on YouTube. I would’ve been less than 3 year old at the time this aired, so either my mom recorded it for me or I asked her to record it. I had the same reaction when I came across it on a random tape a few months ago.
One wouldn’t know before it aired how lame it turned out to be, and it’s only a few minutes so I guess not worth recording over.
September 14, 2011 at 2:24 pm
@NotInMyHouse Just a minor correction, CBC is the equivalent of BBC is Canada. It’s a national TV network, and being government-supported has the widest reach.
This thing also aired on Disney Channel in the US at least twice, according to what I found when trying to determine what the hell it was.
September 14, 2011 at 3:20 pm
Thanks a lot, James. I just had flashbacks to all the crap I had to put up with on the CBC as a kid. This is pretty much par for the course. Americans have no idea how good they have it with their awesome cartoons and interesting children’s programming.
September 14, 2011 at 3:29 pm
Uh, most of the programming I grew up watching in Canada was American. We got most, if not all the great shows they got. But even CBC had some great Canadian shows, The Kids in the Hall for instance. We didn’t have it bad at all.@murphy2112
September 14, 2011 at 3:52 pm
why did they re-record the theme tune ?
September 14, 2011 at 4:11 pm
this is actually awesome!
September 14, 2011 at 5:35 pm
@Basement Steve You may have, but I grew up with rabbit-ear antennas that only got the CBC. I don’t care how funny Kids In The Hall is (and it is very, very funny), when you’re a kid it doesn’t exactly compete with Power Rangers.
September 14, 2011 at 6:29 pm
They’re not NINJAturtles: they’re ninja (pause) turtles, with slight emphasis on turtles.
Dumb ugly-80s-hair-wearin’ goof. I bet she says “sAYga” too.
September 14, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Power Rangers… You were still using rabbit-ears in the mid-90s? That sucks dude. Sorry about your luck. @murphy2112
September 14, 2011 at 7:39 pm
A woman dressed up as April O’Neil would “sing” this song to an audience while the characters did moves on the Disney-MGM stage. There are videos of the full thing on YouTube. It actually includes a guitar solo.
September 14, 2011 at 8:34 pm
LOL, wtf, how’d James come across this, so weird.
The turtle costumes/muscles look sooo odd.
September 14, 2011 at 9:46 pm
Wow. Weak sauce.
September 14, 2011 at 11:08 pm
@Basement Steve Yeah, it was pretty awful.
September 15, 2011 at 12:18 am
September 15, 2011 at 11:14 am
September 15, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Did anyone else notice the lady had to look at the letters on their belts to remember which turtle was which?
September 15, 2011 at 4:05 pm
September 15, 2011 at 4:25 pm
You know what!? I remember them being at Walt Disney World. I was there when I was 5 and we were walking around. I saw them from far away and ended up running away from my mother to see them on stage. When she found me, I was in so much trouble I couldn’t stay and watch anymore. I remember crying and ended up poking my eye with my neon glasses. Ahhh, memories!
September 15, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Anyone else find it weird that she said NINJA turtles, instead of Ninja TURTLES? Why is there a stress on NINJA?
September 15, 2011 at 11:19 pm
Am I the only one who thinks the costumes look realistic?
September 15, 2011 at 11:37 pm
So bad…. just couldn’t finish…
September 16, 2011 at 2:17 am
This totally reminded me of going to see the Ninja Turtles at my local Burger King…almost the same costumes!
September 16, 2011 at 3:28 am
teenage mutant fucking ninja turds
September 16, 2011 at 3:54 am
this video gave me pelvic discomfort.
September 16, 2011 at 10:53 am
Ninja Turtles and Disney. 2 great tastes that taste like shit together.
