Straight, to the point, and a good episode in my opinion. The 7 sins was a great way to summarize the control problems. Loved the throw to the can at the end, as well as the ending that said you didn’t do it ‘perfectly’ (like bart vs the world).

Great job on the scaled down AVGN. It doesn’t even matter that you didn’t make it a full length episode, which I imagine means you didn’t spend nearly as much time on the production. It was still just as good as all the other episodes that I love. What a nice surprise indeed to see a new/awesome episode.
And I agree with Mike….if you think this game is amazing you REALLY need to take off the ole’ “nostalgia goggles” and take a close look at the absolutely HORRID CONTROL!

I’ve seen many games with a lot of potential be ruined simply by bad controls. Its very unfortunate when it happens, but I guess it makes you appreciate the good ones.

Though the game has it’s flaws (the top of the screen scroll being annoying as hell, but liveable in the end) and the controls being bad, I simply love sitting down and playing this game. I’ve spent countless hours playing this game on my NES (and that was with good old NES roulette where any pet who walks by might nudge the console and send the game into glitchy hell).
Still, I love sitting down and playing Kid Kool, but I’m still glad there was an AVGN episode on it, cause even if it’s called bad game I still like playing it, but AVGN is always so hilarious to watch.
Also, for any curious, I doubt I’m seeing this game through nostalgia goggles, as I had only gotten the game two or so years ago and still play it every so often on my Laptop (thanks to losing my NES and my Games in a move).

As soon as I visit Cinnemassacre and see that there’s a new video I’m like “fuck yeah”..but when there’s a new AVGN video I’m like “FUCK YEAH”…I admire your hard work and dedication to everything you are doing..keep kicking ass and saying fuck!! (by the way James..since your first ANN video you have dug into the wretched catacombs of deplorable video games..many of which I have never even heard of..but Simon’s quest I remember as a child and I agreed with all of which you pointed out in your video..but recently I played it again, and..well..once you understand the nature of it, it’s actually a very good game..I mean, yeah, it’s bad..but not the kind of bad where you’re not even interested in playing it through ..the gameplay, the scenery and the music all kick ass..but the day/night bullshit..oh God..long live

That was a pretty good AVGN. A throwback to the older episodes, which is great. Although I really do love the bigger production episodes. But you can’t pump those out as often, plus I bet you’re saving any big stuff for the movie. Thanks for continuing the AVGN series, I would’ve been cool just waiting for the movie, but you’re a real trooper, man, and you obiviously care for the fans, so once again, thank-you!
P.S.: Do you know where I can find a copy of ‘Dr. Claw’s Pump N’ Dump’? I’d like to try it out sometime! LOL. XD

I used to play Psycho Fox on my master system, and the controls were pretty fucked too. I remember liking it as a kid though, besides never being able to beat it.
We do have a new perspective of the episodes after the making off, and I may say I enjoy it even more now.
We, kids of the 80′s, are actually special.

Excellent. I realize you are only doing episodes that are more barebones then some of the technical fx monstrocities of the past, but I actually still love these.

Great review James! I vaguely remember hearing about this game but never played it back in the day. Vic Tokai certainly made some weird games…Clash at Demonhead was a favorite of mine as was Golgo 13 (and one hard fucking game to finish!)…but this one looks like they really unloading the shit wagon on it. ^_^

Oh god, finally paid a visit again to see a new AVGN episode is at the top of the list instead of all the turtle stuff or whatever:
Watching this almost makes me feel aggressive… this game must really be annoying to play with all this screen freezing when jumping and the invisible stuff. And if you get this feeling and know that you’ll never ever want to touch this game, you know that AVGN did a good job.

For a while, I thought there was something wrong with the newer AVGN videos, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. It was like something was missing. Now that I’ve seen the good quality of this latest video, it finally hit me: it was the Nerd’s attitude towards the games he reviewed. The name of the character is the Angry Video Game Nerd, but in the newer videos, he might as well have been called the Bored Video Game Nerd or the Apathetic Video Game Nerd. He tossed out phrases like “who cares” or “I don’t give a shit” like they were confetti. Maybe it’s just me, but when I watch an AVGN video, I do it with the expectation that I’m going to see the Nerd blow his top and give a bad game the full lashing it deserves, not see the Nerd reluctantly phone in a review. I mean reluctance has its place in the character, but it shouldn’t be overdone. The Christmas episode that was based off of A Christmas Carol summed up the Nerd perfectly: he doesn’t want to play shitty games, but somehow he’s drawn to them like a moth to the flame.
