Childhood comics: FONTO FORCE #1 – The Fire Power

James / July 3rd, 2011

In 1993, I drew a monthly comic series called “Fonto Force” inspired by sword & sorcery movies and video games. There were 7 in total, with the 7th never being finished. Only the first one is in color, because it was too time consuming. It was all done with colored pencils. Now the first time, they’ll all be seen publicly. In the next 7 weeks, I’ll be posting them all.

This is a PDF file, you must scroll down to read. (16 pages total)

Pretty well drawn for a young kid. It was pretty interesting to see this. Running from the dragon was priceless; I actually laughed out loud a bit.

i cant hel, but seing the green dragon it reminds me of the dragon in the playground james used to go to it sure as followed him in his life.
I drew similar “comics” when i was little to, i remember in class we had to write a series of a bunny and i did a godzilla series of it.
Unfortunately i dont have them anymore =(
Good comic by the way! i really enjoyed it actully and looking forward to the rest of the series

I used to make comics as a kid too, wished I kept a few. One was about a breadman who owned a bakery and a thief used to keep trying to steal his bread but the breadman could stretch his arm (like Mr Fantastic) and always foiled the thief’s plans.

I did a lot of drugs as a kid.

What I love best is how every odd numbered page has crisp, clean frame lines, and the even numbered pages have squiggly pencil-drawn frame lines. Why would they not make the comic book paper 2 sided?
