Over Analyzers has a high production value in terms of camera work. But the thing I like about your videos is the innocent kids room type of atmosphere. It’s like going to a friends house and hanging out. Like what you did with that Inspector Gadget DVD video. That was great. The way this is shot doesn’t give that “friends house” feeling at all and makes it unappealing to me.
I do think getting more people into your videos from time to time is a great idea and hope to see more of that. For example, when you had the Glitch Gremlin and the Ninja in the AVGN episodes – that was awesome. I guess it’s just a matter of incorporating people that don’t suck..
This episode is no improvement over the first. Susie still has that awful fake accent, which is totally unbearable. Lee once again adds nothing. You should put a dummy in his chair and it would do just as good a job. I did get a small laugh out of the part where Mike is talking about blood and eggs exploding from the bunnies chest, I’ll admit, but that was about it.
Most of the stuff you make is great. Loving the Ninja Turtles cartoon reviews. But this Over Analyzers show needs to go. These videos are just plain boring to watch. And at points (mostly with Susie) it’s just annoying.
You are capable of making much better material, as we see so often. What happened to “You Know What’s Bullshit” and “Board James” ? Mr. Bucket was probably my favorite video of yours of all time! And have been waiting to see more of that. But instead we get this junk..
I do like that you try new ideas all the time, sometimes it works, and other times it doesn’t. This unfortunately is a time when it doesn’t. I hope that you’ll stop making this show and focus on other things. Over Analyzers makes me cringe. Sorry. Peace out.

Great stuff. I had this exact conversation last Easter. Some asshole told me eggs represent life blah blah blah, and Easter is about life and the rebirth of JC.
I think the “bunny” is used, because rabbits are always having sex, and that’s how life is created… Through the act of sex.

Look James, I love your stuff. I’ve seen literally everything else you have made and put up here and have been following your work for a couple years now. I admire your work. I still have faith that OA has potential and might get better. The problem I see now is that you guys kind of ignored a lot of what people suggested after the pilot.
There were some really good comments and suggestions after the first show. I know there were also a lot of negative and mean comments–but please try to look past that and focus on the insightful.
For me, the single biggest thing is Susie. Look, you’ve been given the note. Please take it. Your accent is killing me. I just want to fast forward past everything you say. The problem is that it is too distracting because we all know it’s fake. It sticks out and draws the audience out of the show. This is not good. I understand that you are committing to the idea of your character (I get and respect that). PLEASE find a logical way to work your accent out of the character.
I didn’t laugh once watching episode 2. I’m sorry for that. I wish I could say otherwise. Personally the accent just killed it for me. Seems that just as I was getting into the debate the accent came in and pulled me out of the scene and suddenly I was focused on how much I disliked the accent instead of the ideas of the production. Hm.
Great potential. Please listen to your audience. Best of luck.

For a show like this, I don’t think the “characters” work. You’ve basically got Mike acting like himself, but Susie playing a character. It just won’t work unless you pick one or the other.
My feedback is this: Instead of writing scripts and playing characters, just film an improv discussion and try to keep things interesting. Cherry pick the best bits in editing. Things would feel much more natural and the show would attain that ‘hanging out with friends’ type of atmosphere.

though it’s only been two episodes, and i absolutely enjoyed the first one better than the second-i gotta say i adore these, and think it should definitely be kept up. yeah, the accent was a little irritating the first time i heard it, but, who cares, i don’t even notice it now. do whatever you want. i love it.

Don’t drop it. It’s a good idea. The fact that everyone’s being themselves and then one person is a character is kinda weird though…
If I were you I’d consider making some changes, but don’t give up just yet. I think people are being way too negative.

See, the thing is that I used to do this sort of thing with my buddies too. We’d analyze things like: If 7-11 is open 24-7 then why do they have locks on the doors, or why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways, or why is stuff you put on a boat called cargo and stuff on a car or truck called shipment etc. Those were good times.
With regards to the episode, it’s ok. I don’t know if you need a girl with the accent (god bless ya for trying). But more importantly, I really don’t know if you (other bloggers) need to go 45 lines to make a point.
James, you and your people bust your ass for this and I give you mad props. Keep doing what makes you happy and it will translate into your work.

Still loving the idea. I agree with many posters here- the basement atmosphere of AVGN is great, though I enjoy this other, more formal way. You guys go through topics in such a way I would have never thought of, but it fits it perfectly with you guys. I still think the accent is something to take the focus off, it is particularly jarring. Something I haven’t seen mentioned, is that not everyone is providing equal input. I can’t remember the guy to the right of James even saying anything.
To note to other fan comments, however, remember that these videos were shot nearly all at once- do not expect any of our fan criticism to be useful for quite awhile.

Mike? Perfect, as always. What more can I say? I would happily buy you a beer were I to run into you.
James, I’d actually like to see your character take a more active role in these. It seems like you’ll just kind of come in and say, “Hey, so what’s the deal with this?” and then as people come up with ideas, you’ll just restate their ideas, like, “So, it happens this way?” Your brilliance is not merely in directing conversations, but also in the active participation thereof. Let’s see you tear some ideas apart! Let’s see you ask some of those skeptical questions! You’re great at this stuff, so why deny it to us?
As to the blond guy, whose name I can’t remember (not out of anything he’s doing wrong, but just because I forgot his name), he’s good. coming up with ideas, asking questions, etc. I’d just like to see his ‘character-ness’ turned up about 150% so that he’s really more than just another person sitting in a chair.
Which brings me to Lee: Lee, you gotta do something! If you’re a friend of James and Mike, I have no doubt you’re a creative, funny person. Let’s see you bring it out!
Susie: You really, really need to lose that accent. Your acting is good. Your character is great. That accent is bad. In fact, it actively detracts from the interest I would like to give you, because bad russian accents are so painful to hear that I subconsciously tune out your lines. Understand, I’m not trying to be mean. But as a viewer, I’ll tell you; that accent is the only part of this show that I don’t like. You don’t need it to be interesting. You already are!
As far as the easter bunny is concerned, I had never thought that we’re eating his/her eggs…what a stupid method of reproduction!
If there were any non-fictional species of animal which laid eggs that were (a) very colorful (b) particularly delectable to children and (c) hidden no lower than five feet above the ground–where youngsters can find them without too much trouble–I see no way that species wouldn’t be extinct. Period.
The reason you never see Easter Bunnies is that they’re endangered! We keep eating their unborn young!!
Anyway, love the show. Just needs a few tweaks and then it will really hit its stride, I have no doubt.

I enjoyed the pilot pretty much, it made me laugh hard several times. But this second episode wasn’t so good. The “meaning of BADASS” video has the same idea of over analysing and it was much more funny. I have to admit though, that I like to see the faces and laughs of you people when you hear the crazy theories.

I know the answer. You know how a lot of people wonder how Santa delivers toys to all the Christmas-celebrating houses around the world, and they assume he’s going around Earth at warp speed? A much more logical conclusion would be that there’s a bunch of Santas, and they’re just deliverymen. But since he’s the one they see, and no one ever sees two at once, they think there’s just one and he’s the boss of the holiday. And the Easter Bunny is the same deal, there’s a lot of them and they deliver the chocolate in baskets, so people make the same mistake. So who is the actual boss of Easter and Christmas? Jesus, of course. I don’t know who makes the chocolate though, maybe it’s the 12 disciples.

It’s just a fact, you want to get into the debate, you want to join in with the group and think about the discussions while being entertained, participating as a viewer would….but then you get that phoney accent. I know part of this is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek and over-the-top but that accent still comes off completely out of place, and jars the viewer right out of the discussion. It draws unwanted attention to itself.
You could even turn it into a joke. One of the characters just yells out “hey, knock it off with the accent, alright? Please?” And she just responds with “oh, yeah, sorry” in a normal voice, and the discussion continues on like normal.

Murray at the top said this lacks the “hanging out at a friends house” feel, but I honestly think for me at least that has to do with the fake accent just listening to the audio for the video gives me that “friends house” feel until the accent kicks in.

Here’s the thing I don’t understand: James has said numerous times how making feature films is his true passion and AVGN kind of fell into his lap. So why spend time/effort/money on a project none of your fans seemed to be pining for when all that effort could be spent on AVGN, Board James etc or any of the films you’ve been wanting to make? I realize making films and making internet videos are two completely different animals but this just seems like a waste of your awesome talent. I vote you abandon ship on this on ASAP.

To the poster above, James said that Susie’s heritage was Hungarian (I think. Whatever the accent she’s attempting–that’s her heritage). But she doesn’t speak like that irl. We know this because we’ve seen here in a few of the Nerds other projects including the promo to this series and also a couple where a group of friends are sitting in a restaurant chatting up old horror movies. She spoke in a normal American accent in those bits.

This episode was senseless, but not in a good way. The idea of the show is good, the first episode had a good topic, this one didnt. Get rid of the girl, sorry but she is not either attractive or anything. My theory:
There is only one bunny that lays eggs, but that one is like a big ass qeen ant, laying thousands of eggs a day(preparing for each year easter) and it has an army of worker bunnies, who paint and decorate the eggs, and there are also deliverer bunnies, who deliver the finished eggs to children:D

The girl’s accent is pretty rough. If she had said the bit about the turducken in her normal voice I probably would have actually laughed. Instead I just felt embarrassed for her and thought about how hard she might be trying to pull off that bad accent. And at the end when I thought that mercy would be given, nope. She comes back again and I can’t focus on the joke. Just that god damn VOICE. Sorry Stephanie, no hard feelings – but why the accent? Who’s idea was it? SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.

Unlike some other people I really liked this. I don’t laugh often watching videos but the way Mike described the whole process made me laugh out loud. People, stop trying to ‘speak for all of us’. Just because you don’t like something, it doesn’t mean nobody else does. James has done 101 episodes of the Nerd, and even though they’re all good, it is time for a break from it. James has a lot more to offer than just swearing at games, you guys are just too ignorant and selfish to let him. A lot of you are treating James like he’s Adam West, and are typecasting him as the nerd. You know as well as I do that he has more to give than dressing up in that white shirt all day every day.
Doug Walker has Nostalgia Critic, but people love the other things he does. What makes James so different? And don’t use the fact that NC is still going as an excuse. James is still doing the Nerd show, but he’s put it on hold to make the movie. Do you want him to rush the movie and make it crap? Do you want him to entertain you? Well then, stop acting like jerks and give him a chance to try something new. Let him take this opportunity to put the nerd aside so he can make a great movie of it and still give us other things in between. He’s not a film maker, not a typecast game reviewer.
Seriously, what will happen if he does become a filmmaker or actor some day? Are you gonna keep bullying him into making AVGN when that happens? That’s the most selfish thing I’ve ever heard. You guys need to shape up. Your criticisms aren’t making James or Mike feel any better. No matter how you word your comments, constructive or not, all you’re saying is “All you’re good at is swearing at games and taking dumps on consoles; unless you do that every day, you’re nothing to everyone.” That is completely untrue, because most people like his work.
You call yourselves fans, yet all you do is slag him off every day of the week because he isn’t doing what YOU want. You’re no fans of his. The guy’s got himself a chance to make his lifelong ambitions come true, and all you want to do is destroy his dream just because you want your half hour entertainment each month. Woman come in many sizes, shapes, and flavors. I don’t find the type of voice I would expect to find from Susie, but I am always interested to observe females. I believe females are of interest to other commenters aswell and people focused on her and claim that they want something else. Anytime you fail to appreciate something it is at least your loss.
The point I’m trying to make is I’m going to watch Jame’s videos, because he is excellent at what he does, we are both 30, and have similar views in what is funny or f*cked up. I enjoy Susie’s character and would like people to respect her. If you are unhappy for some reason blaming her doesn’t help.

Actually I think the “Chicken was implanted in the Easter Bunny’ ass by Satan” then aliens makes more sense. Why? Because it ties into the reason why Easter is celeberated on the day of Jesus’s Rebirth. See Satan created the Easter Bunny AND Santa Claus as marketting tools to get kids and eveyrone else to focus more time on celebrating marketting gimmicks instead of Jesus. Since if you aren’t celebrating Jesus’s Birth or death, the lord looses power since God’s strength is determined now on if people believe in him. It’s the reason god connected the world through his son as a way of ensuring he would still have his power and not eventually start losing it as an immortal. But if god loses power Satan’s army would have a better chance of invader and destroying heaven,. So by giving kids false prophets and altering the meaning of the holiday, Satan’s genius mastermind plan is actually working.
Or it could be like in that South Park “Fantastic Easter Special” episode which I guess is refrenced at the end by Stepheanie and the peeps in the microwave (BTW does Stephanie have an actual accent or is that just something made for this show?).

It’s awesome because you guys are discussing what everyone’s thinking about, unfortunately though, Susie’s super fake German accent gives me a headache every time i hear it. As Susie opens her mouth to speak, my body tightens and my jaw clinches knowing whats coming. I understand you wanted to try an accent, Susie. But it seems to me you’ve tried. Everyone could tell it was fake from the very first word she spoke in the first “OA”. Susie, please stop the accent. We could really do without. Thank you.

I personally think she’s what’s holding the show back. She doesn’t have any sort of comedy coming from her ever. The fake accent thing just makes her even more annoying. I’m not too fond of the others, either. They just seem bland. The show could be fine with them, but my personal enjoyment (and evidently the enjoyment of other viewers) would come just from James and our favorite Motherfucker.

I don’t think the dislike has anything to do with “The Nerd”, I love The Bullshit series, The Board James series, The Monster Madness Reviews, The Spike Reviews, The Cinemassacre FIlms, but this just seems weaker. I realize it’s going for an unscripted feel, but I never feel like you’re having a realistic conversation. James has said that the idea came from him and Mike having ridiculous conversations, and maybe thats the issue. There’s too many people in the segment, and we don’t know enough about their characters’ quirks to fully understand their humor as we understand James and Mike. And the Russian accent kills any flow because it’s not believable, and by far weakens the sketch the most. However, this is only the second segment, so there’s a ton of room for improvement. ROme wasn’t built in a day, neither was Syracuse.

How’s this?:
Lose the “zany character” thing, and instead just have a group of friends having a discussion. Your fans like you for you, James. Whether you’re Board James, AVGN, Bullshit Man, or just Phillies favorite son, James Rolfe, we dig you. Why? Because you are frank and honest.
So why not just extend that mindset to this product? No cheesy accents, no prep, just an unscripted conversation?
Just try it for the next one and see how it goes. Call it an experiment, if you will. Just give it a try, ok?

I truly enjoy the productions that are made here. Just like the film industry, there are hits and there are misses, but all in all, the work that’s done here is fine work. It makes me laugh on a daily basis and whether I’m watchin AVGN, Board James, OverAnalyzers, or any movie review I enjoy it, I laugh and it gets me through the day.
It don’t matter what’s put out there (AVGN, Board James, Movie Reviews, or whatever) I know I’m gonna laugh my ass off.

Nice episode – great to hear a lot more dialogue from the new people. I also liked that you just went off on crazy tangents and didn’t mention any of the well known stuff about the origins of the holiday – I mean kids eating chocolate turd eggs is a lot more entertaining anyway.
And no mention of Passover from the Jewish guy…lol…I was almost expecting to hear some serious information but then happy that it stayed goofy and fun – thank you for some mid morning laughs!

Well, at least it wasn’t quite as painful as the first episode. I guess there was nowhere else to go but up. I think a talk show format would be a great way to handle this series. Maybe something kind of like The View but actually good.

I think for as many “OMG IT’S NOT AVGN” people as he gets he gets as many “HEY THIS IS FANTASTIC KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK”. Neither really are right. I don’t know if the in-joke of this episode is that they are all fucking stoned, but it sure sounds like it.
I mean the Easter Bunny has always had a BASKET OF EGGS and this episode focuses so heavily on the idea of him(or her) laying eggs that it ends up feeling very scripted. They just worked to the alien’s reference because they thought it was funny and the entire result was very forced. The only funny thing about it was mike freaking out.

I find it interesting all the levels of praise and disgust for James’ videos. I don’t know if you care about my opinion, Mr. Rolfe, but here it is, unapologetic, for better or worse.
I’d recommend Susie drop the accent. Seriously, it’s annoying and adds nothing positive to the experience.
What is up with Lee? Practically speaking, so far he’s done nothing. Like a fifth wheel, or something. “Shit or get off the pot.”
These things have not hit their stride yet. They aren’t clever. They aren’t funny. Have any of y’all taken improv classes before? Because it would appear you’re trying to do an improv show without having much improvising skill.
Also, your intro/outro statements/questions still lack punch when you say them.
I’m not writing off OA completely. I think the idea is good (even if it is being done elsewhere, like Cracked.com). But in it’s current state, the end product falls flat.

Honestly, here’s my criticism on this series:
It’s a ok series that has some potential but it suffers from the early stages of AVGN itself. its flawed yes, but its an interesting idea that just needs adjusting.
The room itself feels like a boring meeting and doesn’t help add to the show and the accents already has driven the entertaining meter to annoyingly dull. Now I’m not saying you should drop some people from the show but the conversation also is just focused mainly on matt and you while the others just adds little or hardly anything to the conversation.
The show itself feels like it should be in a open lab where you analyze all the obscure topics people don’t think about, not in a cramped office room that sounds like you’re trying to write the script of the show.
Other than that, there is some hilarious talk in the show so far but it just needs some major adjustments just like in the early days of AVGN.
Suggestion for topic: Cats or dogs, which are better.

Okay, here’s the deal. This isn’t a theory, this is acold hard scary fact. The Easter Bunny has these workers. These are baby chicks that he likes to call Peeps. He gives them this magic feed that makes them produce eggs at a young age. It’s one of the worst forms of child labors since Santa Clause and his “Elves”. He pays them in those chocolate coins that Jews get, paints them up, then gives them to children. That’s right kiddies, that’s child slave labor you’re hunting for on Easter Day.

1. I watch a lot of crap.
2. I got to the 2.22 mark of this video before I had to stop.
3. I’ve been coming to this site regularly for at least two years.

You can draw your own conclusions as to how bad this video has to be then.

I like the character interactions better in this episode compared to the last. Everybody contributed while the Batpole episode, to felt more like it was just Jim, Mike and Suzie and the other guys just added one or 2 lines.
Bottom line,great work. I like the idea and it seems to be getting better and better.

For the record, I just registered. I have been a fan of AVGN since day one, I love all the board james and you know what’s bullshit videos, and the movie reviews and random videos are always entertaining. But this…UGH, I couldn’t even make it two minutes. Seriously, this sucks big time James. Please stop wasting time on this garbage, I thought the first episode was bad. The chick NEEDS to go…and lose the accent, it’s stupid. The show is NOT funny. I give you credit for trying soemthing new and all, but for the love of god STOP this. Please go back to making other kinds of videos. I would love to see a sincere honest poll where people only had one vote and it could not be rigged to determine what a piece of unpopular crap this is. Seriously, with how much we ALL seem to be in agreement on here about where this show needs improvement, then if these things are not changed or at least tweaked, then it’s probably safe to say that most of these comments aren’t read. Only time will tell.
Oh, also, with all of the negative reception from the first video in regards to the chick and her accent, I cannot see any way in which the ending of this video is justified. These first two episodes have made me chuckle at times and be bored at times, but that ending just pissed me off. Imagine if at the end of Star Wars Episode 3, they interrupted the somber ending with Jar Jar Binks. It would piss you off.
I still think this show would be a hit if it were JUST James and Mike, but bottom line: get rid of the chick’s accent. Talk about out of place.

I’m surprised to see people actually criticize your, cause every time I check the comments, it’s full of yes men in total void of any critical sense. I love this site, but now and then stuff don’t come out as good as others. I think it says something when so many people suddenly are complaining about how this OA shit fuckings S U C K S. I have to say I love all of the productions that James does on here, all of them, minus this one. It feels like a bad version of The Office or something and yes I agree with the others that the accent is driving me insane. I laughed a lot more in the video where Mike and James were commenting on the Mario Brothers DVD menu.

I am not a fan of this series. I don’t see its purpose, and this particular topic of convo has been overdone by stand up comedians and generally isn’t very interesting. I also don’t understand why people are appearing “As” people when then only character that seems to exist on the show is the chick with the accent. Like, whats the difference between James and Mike in this and James and Mike bsing about the ninja turtles? A rare cinemassacre miss, but I guess everybody gets one.

How can they come up with the most random theories is beyond me, but is simply random how they can do it. There should be a low volume melody when they talk, because sometimes they pause to think and the silence that this cause is kinda boring. Still, nice show

Also, I forgot to mention earlier that I don’t know if it’s ever really said in any lore if the Easter bunny lays its own eggs. I think it just gets them from a factory. The character is from the Germans. Perhaps he lives in a Willy Wonka factory or something.

Well here i go!
Is pretty sad that such a good reviewer as James has lots of retarded fans who supports his falls, instead of giving some feedback.
OA is not funny, or clever, or entertaining is just bland and boring, kind of NC or IG Level.
AVGN, the Monster Madness series, MFM Glitches, and reviews like the TMNT, or the Inspector Gadget, are the things that both Mike and James are good at.
However, since 2009 seems like James is losing it, i think he needs some time separated of the AVGN persona, and refresh his ideas.
I know he has the potencial to give something as epic as AVGN.

Not great and not bad. Each person needs to have a turn to talk first then it should open up to everyone to debate what each of them said and go further with it just like you’re doing. It’d be nice if everyone had a distinctive personality like one persons always trying to base the topic on government conspiracy, someone has the common sense rational solution, another is always referring to comic books and movies for their ideas, and whatever else. Just have Stephanie get hit on the head by something in the episode and have her accent disappear. Please.

Maybe others don’t like it, but I actually enjoy the OA-episodes much. Like, it’s humour, and you guys are making up funny ideas. The same humour is the base of the You Know What’s Bullshit series, only a bit more unleashed. I must say, I laughed my face off during this one.
I say keep going on, it’s a great entertainment!

that is some harsh comments. James’ videos seems to appeal to a certain young audience, that don’t know why you do it, and don’t want to appreciate it for what it is. Free entertainment, made from two guys brilliant minds(james and mike). I don’t care what you make, just keep it real, and keep up the good work. I’ll choose to watch whatever i find entertaining, and so should all you other guys, whatever age. take it for what it is, you are not in a position to demand anything from this chap! he has proven himself already!

… You know that feeling you get when you’re talking to a friend on the phone, and it’s all chill at first, but then you reach a wall at that point, but you don’t want to hang up on them! so you start forcing another topic in to break the silence. It’s like someone videotaped this forced conversation with a side dish of bad accent.
If you didn’t read any of the overanalyzing comments from your first episode, then I forgive you for making an even worse one that didn’t produce one chuckle from me– not one. If you at least took some into consideration, then that’s a little hard for others to see– you know, seeing as how this one’s not any better. If you blatantly ignored our advice and hopes for this show’s success, then you know what? That’s just a big slap in the face.

I think this is supposed to have that somewhat slap-stick, and dry feel. It’s kind of a good idea, but I am not sure if it’s being presented well enough, and I feel there should be more animation, or movement for the characters; think a room full of generals moving pieces around on a simulated miniature battlefield. The characters just seem so bland that it doesn’t seem presentable. I like where this is going, but I would love to see it evolve into a more animated group of people rather than the sit around a boring table plainly grasping at air.
I would love to see Board James return instead of this. Board James is probably my favorite thing to watch besides the AVGN series. I also love it when James gives us behind the scenes material, or just shows us interesting things that he has collected, or shot.
