1.21 Gigawatts (Redux)

Mike Matei / November 8th, 2010

This is an experimental tribute to Doc Brown from Back to the Future. It was originally edited in 2003. Non-linear editing software was something new and exciting for me. As you can see, I was just playing around and having fun with it. I re-edited it in 2006 and re-uploaded now, so I think it’s the first time it’s being seen without looking like crap.

    November 8, 2010 at 4:44 am

hey james u should do an audio commentary about the whole trilogy, like you did for the dracula movie

  • brainofjtd

    November 8, 2010 at 4:54 am

Sorry, bro. Maybe you should’ve left this one in the “failed” vault.

  • November 8, 2010 at 5:05 am

OMG!” HAHAHAHAHHAHAHhahahahha :D, EPicly funny.. awesome work dude ;P

  • November 8, 2010 at 6:16 am

I’m sorry to say, but this movie is from somebody else ! I already saw this one 2 years ago on YouTube.. But it is still funny ! But don’t put ‘CineMassacre presents’ on top of it when it isn’t yours..

  • November 8, 2010 at 6:19 am

Oh sorry, you re-edited it ! Please remove my comment !

  • siilarsi

    November 8, 2010 at 6:53 am

  • Punkspring

    November 8, 2010 at 7:19 am

hahah this is the funniest thing i ever saw. and i agree with.. Gonzalo_vm

  • lfgubrs

    November 8, 2010 at 7:42 am

    November 8, 2010 at 9:33 am

    IT’S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF BOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!

  • November 8, 2010 at 10:36 am

From 1:35 to 1:46, I could never get enough of that!

I don’t know if this question was asked to you a hundred million times already, but have you ever seen Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and how do you feel about Lloyd’s Judge Doom?

The way I see it, Doc Brown is a cute puppy dog compared to Doom as a devilish hound from Hell. If you don’t know what I’m saying, watch the film!

  • November 8, 2010 at 10:45 am

I love the Doc!!!!! he is the master and we are his illegitimate children of the future yet to be born… “hold on what am I talking?” ” Yes you guessed it!” “BOOM!” like the way that Monster Madnes went, come on lets go back to more AVGN episodes. http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/vizzedindex.php?ref=65348

Hasn’t this been on youtube for about 4 years?

  • November 8, 2010 at 12:20 pm

darcman0: Haven’t you read the description? “It was originally edited in 2003. Non-linear editing software was something new and exciting for me. As you can see, I was just playing around and having fun with it. I re-edited it in 2006 and re-uploaded now”

  • SpeedyEric

“Damn. (Gasp). Damn. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!” XD XD XD

This is a work of a comedic tribute, James. The Back to the Future Trilogy is one of my favorite film series of all time, and you made a fan/nerd happy today.

    November 8, 2010 at 5:39 pm

lorebf: Did you bother to even check if darcman0 was right? Check the youtube link out, you’ll see its the same as the one posted here.
Maybe James uploaded the wrong or just forgot he even posted it before?

  • November 8, 2010 at 5:46 pm

This was very very funny. 🙂 Let me just say, great work, James, and what a great trilogy and 1st movie they were.

  • SpotXSpot

WAAAAaaaAAAAAaaaaAAAAAaaaAAAAAAAAYYYY OVER THERE!!! that was my favorite part.

  • November 8, 2010 at 6:34 pm

WARNING TO ALL VIEWERS OFF THIS PARTICULAR PROGRAM: This video contains 1.21 Gigawatts and is going at 88 Miles Per Hour with a weight of Heavy. Use caution when approaching the epicness.

  • JayRam

    November 8, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Oh, yeah. Saw this on youtube last year. Some parts were funny, acutally.
BTW, Edie Falco looks like a man! And when did a 3-4 minute stand-up act qualify as a commercial? It’s not even funny.

  • Cory Power

    November 8, 2010 at 9:23 pm

What’s not to understand? He has re-uploaded it. The one on YouTube is shitty quality because of YouTube’s standards at the time. Plus he probably wasn’t making money off of the one on YouTube.

  • November 8, 2010 at 10:59 pm

I saw this one a while ago and I still like it.. I wento to se the movie to the Cinema last saturday
I can’t discribe it.. It was more than AWESOME !! I want to go again..:D

  • Will

    November 8, 2010 at 11:20 pm

    LMAO!! That was awesome!! =D

  • November 9, 2010 at 1:25 am

We played this at the opening celebrations of the Terrorist Chase Scene Re-Creation and Movie Screening at Puente Hills Mall on Friday November 5, 2010 at approximately 9:30:PM.. Sorry, the events didn’t happen on time and everything got chaotic and unorganized…

  • moomba

    November 9, 2010 at 2:13 am

This video always brings a smile to my face. I like how its constantly playing the back to the future music alongside all the crazy shit going on. Some of the funniest editing I’ve seen in a while. I’d say this video is a classic.

  • pskeen0927

    November 9, 2010 at 7:09 am

FUCKING HILARIOUS. Isn’t NLE the greatest? Gives you a new perspective on Christopher Lloyd’s performance. He really is brilliant.

  • checkthisflickout

    November 9, 2010 at 11:20 am

That actually gave me a headache. But I enjoyed it none the less:-)

  • November 9, 2010 at 5:38 pm

    R.I.P. Christopher Lloyd

  • Belligeron

    November 9, 2010 at 9:20 pm

NilVlrod, who the hell said Christopher Lloyd was dead lol? BTW anyone notice the older he gets the more he looks like a turtle? If he ever voices a turtle or I find out he has already, I will probably die laughing.

  • November 9, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Did he also star as Uncle Fester in The Adams Family? He’s bald there, though.

  • November 9, 2010 at 10:08 pm

Nice I swear I have seen you do some of those faces in you AVGN reviews =)

  • November 9, 2010 at 10:13 pm

Thanks, that was a little less annoying the first time I saw it. LOL

  • November 9, 2010 at 10:44 pm

What is this a YouTube poop?

  • catboyjeremie

    November 9, 2010 at 11:30 pm

Good old Cinemassacre goodness. Its kind of funny to realize after these years that this definitely quality as a YouTube Poop.

  • November 10, 2010 at 1:46 am

I saw a commercial for the Back To The Future Trilogy on ION TV that seemed similar to this 1.21 Gigawatts video (and the original ones)… was this made by James?

I took the video with my camera and the audio (and video) quality are pretty horrid, nothing I can do now though.

  • Speed_Racer

    November 10, 2010 at 2:51 am

glee sucks please switch to vimeo or youtube or something without ads lol. good video though.

  • Phill6

    November 10, 2010 at 11:26 am

LoL this is the first and only video of James that I didn’t finish watching,
Is not Jame’s fault, I Just Hate when they do that repeat thing, specially in songs, Drives me crazy!! they also did this crap for the Home Improvement Commercial for TBS They would make the Characters repeat their phrases, it drives me nuts, 🙂
I hope there is some new videos coming!!
James, after Monster Madness I feel bored and sad, I need some Video Nerd Goodness!!!

  • November 10, 2010 at 5:51 pm

1.21 Gigawatts fed into a DeLorian car, fill it with petrol and what do you get? Yes, you guess it BOOM! http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/retrotoons/Index.php?ref=65348

  • November 11, 2010 at 2:54 am

Yeah he plays Uncle Fester as well, putting his own spin on the character much like Raul Julia did with Gomez. Hey James, great vid dude. I’m pretty stoked about the new game.

  • November 11, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Love this short. Great job guys.

  • asnaes1981

    November 12, 2010 at 8:34 am

If you speed up his voice, Christopher Lloyd sounds like his character, Judge Doom, from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”.

  • Ben_from_G-town

    November 12, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Haha, he does sort of sound like Judge Doom from Roger Rabbit if you speed up the voice!

But yeah, enjoyed seeing this tribute again. I could have sworn I already watched this on your Youtube channel, so I am not sure if this is new to us, or not… but, certain editing perhaps is stuff we can’t always notice. Was fun to see again, in any case! 🙂
