Mike / October 23rd, 2010
To add to the overwhelming popularity of Troll 2, coincidentally a few days ago, it was mentioned on the Spike TV Scream Awards.
Also, as commented below, apparently “Lort” (one L) means “Shit” in Danish. That’s hilarious!
October 23, 2010 at 3:00 am
First! Another long night thanks to James… I am sure it will be worth it though
Noooooo dang it Oh well
October 23, 2010 at 3:04 am
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!! I Hate Commercials – - I understand having them every other video or So – -But Every Vid I watch on here is a Video !!
October 23, 2010 at 3:11 am
I always wanted to see James reviewing this movies! Oh My God /
October 23, 2010 at 3:12 am
“OHHH MY GODDDDDDD”
October 23, 2010 at 3:13 am
Man, the troll series rides the line of being so-bad-it’s-good and so-bad-it-hurts. It’s also funny to note that the troll series has gotten a lot of attention from internet reviewers this year. If MST3K ever came back, they’d have to do at least one of the troll movies
October 23, 2010 at 3:22 am
I like the poster who thinks they’re ‘first’.
Why doesn’t anyone ever call ‘last’? lol
October 23, 2010 at 3:25 am
You know, James? Why don’t you do PuppetMaster? I know it’s got a lotta sequels and it’s not really campy and stuffs… But I think it’s worth talking about
Troll…trilogy!?! Yes! My wish this Monster Madness has come true! :’)
October 23, 2010 at 3:32 am
Don’t forget that Troll 3/The Crawlers were also named Contamination .7
October 23, 2010 at 3:48 am
Troll……hehe. Yup could not help but laugh.
October 23, 2010 at 4:03 am
James. I appreciate your review, and I know you’ve seen far more movies than I have of varying quality, but I have to say I don’t share your opinion about Troll 2. In my mind, Troll 2 isn’t even a horror movie. It is one of the greatest comedies of our time. If only I could purchase the soundtrack. It’s up there with The Horrible Doctor Bones in my book. Thank you for reviewing these films nonetheless.
October 23, 2010 at 4:09 am
Yes! I totally called it!
October 23, 2010 at 4:35 am
I can’t believe James didn’t allude to the Rifftrax of Troll 2. Especially after interviewing Mike Nelson himself!
I mean the riff was just Mike Nelson and Lowtax from SomethingAwful, but that shit is hilarious!!
October 23, 2010 at 4:48 am
The OMG guy was so irritating when he played Harold Lauder in The Stand
October 23, 2010 at 5:03 am
the scene in the original Troll movie where sonny bono turns into a giant plant freaked the shit out of me when I first saw it as a kid
October 23, 2010 at 5:07 am
Trolls are big i Norway, its part of our folklore.
If you want a good Troll movie…you should look up “The Troll Hunter”, its a movie thats being shown on cinemas over here right now..it is awesome! And yeah…it shows how trolls really are.. (Its filmed like blair witch)
October 23, 2010 at 5:17 am
Troll 2 for life
October 23, 2010 at 5:47 am
Damn. I guess I’d better stop watching these reviews during lunch-time
October 23, 2010 at 5:55 am
I lol’d when i saw the title TROLL TRILOGY cuz i thoght about troll’s in internet bu good review James
October 23, 2010 at 6:01 am
I usually don’t leave comments but for this one I just had to. Troll spelled backwards > llort > Lort means shit on danish!
October 23, 2010 at 6:07 am
Wow didnt know julia dreyfuss was in a troll movie
October 23, 2010 at 6:17 am
The Troll movies rock…I also always wanted to see your take on these so bad theyre good films James and you didnt disappoint.
LOL at the” first” trolls battling it out to comment a TROLL movie…classic.
October 23, 2010 at 6:28 am
That “Oh My God” kid made me laugh. One of the stupidest and lousiest acting ever.
October 23, 2010 at 6:41 am
Corin Nemec wasn’t in Troll 2. He was not the “Oh My God” guy.
But I do agree that he was irritating in The Stand.
October 23, 2010 at 7:12 am
Very nice, James. It’s amazing having a new episode every day. Thank you for your hard work.
October 23, 2010 at 7:17 am
Best review yet.
October 23, 2010 at 7:20 am
I saw the first TROLL movie because of the documentary THE 50 WORST MOVIES EVER MADE. My note: D-, because it has some good effects but it isn’t very thrilling.
TROLL 2 is one of the worst movies ever: F! If you are a trash fan who loves bad directing, bad scripting, bad acting, cheap special effects and silly monster costumes, when this is the movie for you! If you only watch good movies: Stay Away! (P.S.: It has nothing in common with TROLL, because it was made by Joe D’Amato and should be called GOBLINS, but the marketing people of this shitty flick were very tricky!)
TROLL 3 is not so horrible as TROLL 2, but also bad: E!
Thank you that you didn`t forget my first request, James!
October 23, 2010 at 7:42 am
It´s funny because LLORT is spelled the same as LORT in dänish wich is a word for SHIT in dänish. A shitty movie in a shitty town.
October 23, 2010 at 7:46 am
It was only a matter of time before “Troll 2″ would get a Monster Madness video. Excellent job.
October 23, 2010 at 8:08 am
What’s that movie in the intro at 0:02 with the eye getting stomped? Anyone know?
October 23, 2010 at 8:17 am
Looking forward to “Troll Hunter” movie, the trailer looks really promising! Trolls are totally coming back!
October 23, 2010 at 8:35 am
LEAFY GREENS IS PEOPLE!!
i actually saw part of Troll 2 as a little kid, and it freaked me out, particularly the end where the kid starts melting. Really funny part is a few weeks later, we were on vacation, stopped at a Denny’s i think, and the dessert i got had minty GREEN syrup on it. wouldn’t touch the stuff.
October 23, 2010 at 8:45 am
When I saw this on the website, I smiled and thought “Of course”. I didn’t know too much about the first Troll and the third Troll movies, but I was familiar with Troll 2. One time, my sister showed me the “Oh my god!” scene, and we still joke about it til this day. Have I seen the movie? No, but I definitely plan on doing so.
October 23, 2010 at 9:33 am
oh, thanks. Stand corrected.
October 23, 2010 at 9:38 am
Should have beem more like the trolls of Finntroll. Then we would at least have some good music.
October 23, 2010 at 9:48 am
I think the reason they didn´t call nilbog llort is ´cause lort means Shit in some countrys
October 23, 2010 at 9:51 am
hehe yeah it means shit on Danish
October 23, 2010 at 9:52 am
Check out the trailer of norwegian mockumentary “The Troll Hunter”, to be released October 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy2nAOdBUlw
October 23, 2010 at 9:56 am
“Goblins are better than trolls!”…anyone?
The clip at the beginnig is from James Rolfe’s movie,’The Deader the Better’ (2005).
October 23, 2010 at 9:57 am
Great Review James, It was really cool to know about all the troll movies,
The Thing I love the most About your reviews is when I learned stuff I couldn’t possibly learn any other way, I LOVE THAT!
This review had me laughing so bad, Great way to sum up the movies, I was always curious what they were about, but you sum them up perfectly,
Is so fucked up they called the other movies troll 3 specially the one about the plants, Why the hell would they call it that, that is so stupid
Thanks James, great way to start the day
October 23, 2010 at 10:08 am
I’ve seen the first Troll movie, that was so bad that it felt like a waste of time.
October 23, 2010 at 10:17 am
Troll 2 another “classic” from Joe D’Amato’s production company Filmrage.
It’s sad that Troll has to forever be linked with Troll 2 because Troll was actually a fun movie.
October 23, 2010 at 10:56 am
I mean the part at 0:02 with the eye.
October 23, 2010 at 11:28 am
There is a new norwegian troll movie comming up! its called “the trollhunter” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy2nAOdBUlw
October 23, 2010 at 11:51 am
That’s funny to see Julia Louis Dreyfus (and Kramer from a previous review) in these dog shit movies. I saw her in a Family Ties episode recently.
October 23, 2010 at 12:33 pm
Dan Brown reviewed troll 2
October 23, 2010 at 12:35 pm
The Cinema Snob has done reviews on the Troll Trilogy, including “Quest for the Mighty Sword.” He also reviewed “Porno Holocaust” in one of his earlyest reviews.
I also find the Harry Potter thing baffling, and the Harry Potter films are one of my favorite film series.
LLORT. XD Good one, James.
4:36- THESE MOVIES SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!
October 23, 2010 at 12:40 pm
That scene where the guys screaming “Oh my god!!” musta been magical for the director to be fortunate enough to happen to have a fly land on the dudes forehead while they were filming…lmao…
October 23, 2010 at 1:16 pm
In the name of all that is sacred! Not. These. Films!
October 23, 2010 at 1:31 pm
Who the hell is Ator and theres three of them OH MY GODDDDD!!Those Italians really know to mix things up, come on James you could make a legitimate troll 3 better then the so called troll 3′s. Troll 2 rulz!!!!
October 23, 2010 at 2:50 pm
from this review i would have 2 say the original was the best. but i guess that scene from the second one became a meme in recent years so it made that one popular
October 23, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Troll 2 has deff been getting hyped everywhere.
October 23, 2010 at 3:09 pm
We want Bad Taste! Have you seen the Cinema Snob review of these films by the way?
October 23, 2010 at 3:11 pm
OMG the troll’s food is made from HUMANS!!!
October 23, 2010 at 4:04 pm
oh my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!
October 23, 2010 at 5:10 pm
If I was any sort of film maker I would take this video as a challenge and try to make a good horror movie about trolls.
October 23, 2010 at 5:12 pm
My wife and I just watched Troll 2 off of netflix with the Rifftrax,it was very funny and with out Mike, and Lowtax we wouldn’t have finished it.
October 23, 2010 at 5:17 pm
This was the best yet!
On a side note, I am a vegetarian and I wouldn’t eat plants converted from meat.
October 23, 2010 at 5:19 pm
“Something has to be said about plant matter converted from meat. Any vegan opinions on that?”
“Fuck it, it’s the first Harry Potter movie. Spread that around!”
Great review James. These movies have been covered a lot already, but it was still fun to hear your perspective in this short review.
October 23, 2010 at 5:41 pm
Troll 2 has gotten too popular. I was one of the original Troll 2 boosters. Time to move on to a place where the crowds ain’t. I nominate “Black Devil Doll From Hell” as the new Troll 2.
October 23, 2010 at 6:30 pm
OMG Thank you….I saw like the last 30 minutes Many years ago and never learned the name of the movie(Troll 2) I had only remembered the scene at the end. It freaked the Heck out of me!
October 23, 2010 at 6:45 pm
The main smiling troll in Troll One looks like Hoggle from The Labyrinth!
Here’s a google image of him: http://www.freewebs.com/s1mpsons2005/HOGGLE.jpg
October 23, 2010 at 6:49 pm
I do hope that the word Troll will soon be redeemed when the Norwegian movie “Troll Hunter” comes out. The Norwegians have a rich culture based on Troll folklore and the movie looks really cool. Otherwise great review James, thanks for all you do.
October 23, 2010 at 7:03 pm
Hey James, remember how you did the ed-wood a-thon? Well, i had an idea! Have you seen any akira korusawa movies? I would LOVE to see a “Sawa-Thon” or something like that. Reviewing Seven Samurai, Yojimbo And it’s sequel, Sanjuro. And my all-time favorite film, IKIRU(To Live). Thanks!
October 23, 2010 at 7:05 pm
And did you know that most of leones money went to korusawa for fistfull of dollars? He copied yojimbo.
October 23, 2010 at 7:13 pm
There is a troll movie coming out that actulally looks good, link to trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy2nAOdBUlw
October 23, 2010 at 7:28 pm
I was disappointed that any of them were not in your top 30 movies.
October 23, 2010 at 7:42 pm
Back in 2007-2008 news of a Troll remake with Ali Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s little sister, was released. Little has been said of the production since, to my knowledge. It’s on IMDb as a 2012 release. So, I guess we’ll see if it comes out then.
October 23, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Woah wait a minute that chick was making out with the troll WTF. This is one of my favorite reviews from this years monster madness. This movie looks dumb and I will do my best to avoid at all costs!
October 23, 2010 at 8:17 pm
The second movie clip on the Beginning (foot stomps on eye) is from “The Deader The Better” from James himself!
October 23, 2010 at 8:58 pm
is it just me or does the main troll look like the same one used in leprechaun lol
October 23, 2010 at 9:02 pm
It was obvious that James makes a talk about this movie, cause it’s so bad.
October 23, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Could a troll movie be taking seriously? When I think of troll I think of “Ernest Scared Stupid”. So trolls are never scary and to SIYRAAS I agree with you.
October 23, 2010 at 9:49 pm
i never saw the first movie bt i think i have see the second one was scary when i was a kid bt now mmmmm well is just shit ….anyway nice review keep it going
October 23, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Whoever said to play Warcraft is a loser. He reviews old games, not piles of ass like that, and he doesn’t just review shit for the sake of one “fan.”
Also, quit referring to him as “James”, yeah its his first name but you refer to him like you frickin’ know whim personally. GET A LIFE.
Anyway, yeah Troll 2 is no where close to being the worst movie ever made, nor the best worst movie ever made. If it was the worst you wouldn’t be able to laugh at it. Bad movies are ones that have no entertainment value what-so-ever… like Jeepers Creepers, why did anyone think that was scary, IT SUCKS!
October 23, 2010 at 11:21 pm
I find the movies almost impossible to watch, but your review almost always convinces me otherwise.
Torrents are up.. also Troll 3 streaming for some reason.
October 24, 2010 at 4:07 am
Ah the famed Troll movies. I’ll get to watching them someday.
The Italians released so many fake sequels in the 80s and 90s. La Casa was the name for The Evil Dead and same for Evil Dead II (La Casa 2)
Yet Army of Darkness was not translated to La Casa 3. That didn’t stop them from making La Casa 3, La Casa 4, and La Casa 5 which have NOTHING to do with the Evil Dead trilogy. Oddly enough La Casa 5 was ALSO called House 5. Retarded! Since it had nothing to do with the House franchise either. There was also three Demons 3 released and none were true sequels.
When you explained that Joe D’Amato had something to do with the fake Troll 3, that made perfect sense to me.
October 24, 2010 at 4:18 am
Havent heard of these at all, im surprised that they are well known, yet I have never heard of them. I have no desire of watching them anyway, but nice vid!
October 24, 2010 at 4:48 am
Perhaps there’s finally will be released a desent Troll movie this year..?
Found this trailer on youtube, and it looked a little interesting..
October 24, 2010 at 6:30 am
Hi, greetings from Finland.
Just wanted to stop by and tell you how much i enjoy your work.
So keep on going!
October 24, 2010 at 8:48 am
This version was good but i liked phelous’s review better
October 24, 2010 at 8:56 am
By the way, the idea behind Troll 2 is actually pretty frightening. Eating food that turns you into green jelly to be devoured by little hairy bastards doesn’t sound that pleasant.
October 24, 2010 at 10:11 am
In minute 2:18 the hat Harry Potter wears is of the Football Club “Real Betis” from Sevilla, Andalucia, Spain. I know because I’m from Spain look:
October 24, 2010 at 10:14 am
A little upset that the time for “Bad Taste” has come and gone (1987), but “Troll 2″ makes up for it, and “Brain Damage” looks awesome. Can’t wait to watch that one. Swell!
October 24, 2010 at 11:28 am
Yes, “Lort” is “Dirt” also in Swedish. A fitting name for the town. Did JK Rawlin’s see the first movie? It gives you a whole new perspective on the Harry Potter books, doesn’t it? Anyhow, I find these smiling, drug growing, vegetarian/humitarian (Is “humitarian” even a word?) trolls sympathetic in a certain way.
October 24, 2010 at 11:53 am
So this where YouTube trolls came from.
October 24, 2010 at 8:11 pm
The first 2 movies were so very scary to me as a kid. I miss having the lack of ability to tell what’s reality and what’s make-believe, when I was a lot younger. I can’t take these movies seriously now, but back then, oh man…
Oh yah, and the leader of the “trolls” in the second movie… as a kid, I had the opinion that she was pretty hot in her glasses and suit, despite the nasty green teeth and stuff!
October 24, 2010 at 11:45 pm
Troll 1 looks vaguely familiar, but I don’t think I saw the others at all.
October 25, 2010 at 2:02 am
I kinda want to see the first one. Is that bad? But not the second
Maybe troll 3 number 1 too
October 25, 2010 at 4:11 am
Just want to point out something from a previous post, the guy in Troll 2 that screams “OH MY GOOOOOOOOD” is not the same guy who played Billy in Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. Two different actors. IMDB that! :p
October 25, 2010 at 7:54 am
LOL! Man, The Troll movies suck canned ass.
I have to laugh at this shit. So awful. It’s one of the few, shitty, horror films I have nothing, positive, to say about.
Whoever made this shit, obviously, never played the game “Wally And The No Gang” because they were fucked up on drugs when they made this shit!
October 25, 2010 at 10:28 am
That OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOD is fucking classic!
October 25, 2010 at 11:16 am
Troll’s they remind me of boom, can’t say way, but have oyu ever expereinced a bad attack of the trolls, I know I have boom!!! http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/index.php?ref=65348
October 25, 2010 at 2:02 pm
Here is a new Troll movie from norway:
It’s shot in a documentary point of view, and it looks rather good i think.
The trailer is subtitled so i advise you to check it out
sorry for my bad english btw
October 25, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Yeah when I saw trol I was so grossed out by it I had nightmares for a week after that!! Especially after the girl/troll turned that little person into a monster! FUCKING GROSS MAN!!!!!!
October 25, 2010 at 2:49 pm
Should have had the Trolololo clip at the end when talking about saying the word “troll”.
Great job, James
October 25, 2010 at 6:48 pm
OOOOHHHHHH MYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDD!
this review is amazing James!!!
October 25, 2010 at 8:22 pm
I have to dig these movies up, if only for the cheese factor. Holy shit, that is BAD acting.
October 26, 2010 at 9:14 am
Really bad acting and plenty of boom, what were you thinking James?> ttp://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/retro/game.php?id=1864&system=gb&name=Duck-Tales&ref=65348
October 27, 2010 at 8:15 pm
Ha Ha!! I catch you promoting a TGWTG member: The Cinema Snob.
I don’t think the Nostalgia Critic would like that
October 28, 2010 at 5:50 am
ha ha… (L)LORT means shit in danish!!
October 29, 2010 at 2:13 am
(L) Lort means shit in danish!..
October 29, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Lort also means “shit” in Sweden, and probably in Norway as well, since Danish, Swedish and Norwegian languages are pretty similar.
…But we use “Lort” just about as often as you would say “I’m gonna pick up the droppings from the cat”, where “droppings” mean shit.
BTW, I just love the line “YOU CAN’T PISS ON HOSPITALITY. I WON’T ALLOW IT!!” !
October 30, 2010 at 5:46 am
There’s actually a Norwegian film called “Trolljegeren” (“The Troll Hunter”) coming out and from what i’ve heard it’s has received praise from critics around the world, so trolls in films might not be a dead thing afterall.
October 31, 2010 at 1:08 am
Yo James. I think I figured out the forest in the apartment. In Changeling the Dreaming and Changeling the Lost, There’s a dimension that only Changelings can go to called Arcadia, with a barrier between this world and Arcadia called The Hedge. If any mortal who passes into or out of Arcadia (also the amount of time spent in Arcadia) the mortal loses his or her soul and become a Changeling. Depending on the Storyteller The Hedge my be weaker in some areas than others. If the building is a gateway to Arcadia without the Hedge, it’ll make it easier for the trolls to pass through without penalty. Trolls are sometimes considered fae creatures. Turning people into plants, for the first movie I can think the trolls want to make their gateway bigger. The second, honestly I don’t know. Maybe the “trolls” need to convert people into goblinfruit to eat. Not sure I’ll be able to figure why on the second movie.
November 11, 2010 at 5:41 am
Thus the internet troll
November 13, 2010 at 1:28 am
That. Was. Terrific James! Great reviews!!!^_^
December 4, 2010 at 9:49 pm
I now know how to say s–t in four languages (ca-ca, majerd, and now lort).
December 14, 2010 at 1:38 am
I Know They Put Troll 2 out on Blu-Ray
December 17, 2010 at 11:51 am
Yeah it has the same use in Norway as well. Lort ain’t popular here either, but the majority of the people would know the meaning of it.
January 25, 2011 at 10:32 am
5:07 what was the music playing in the background?
February 28, 2011 at 9:05 am
lort is more like excrement… At least in Norwegian…
March 28, 2011 at 2:24 pm
Troll means turd in dutch.
(it’s actually spelled drol, but that doesn’t matter)
April 15, 2011 at 12:36 am
Troll 2 might’ve sucked to alot of people and it kinda does looking back on it, but i swear that mirror scene scared me more than any other horror movie when i was little, man did it make me afraid of mirrors for awhile lol
June 12, 2011 at 4:14 am
Well, I guess you could call Iron Warrior Ator IV since it doesn’t have the official title Ator III. But since it came out three years before The Hobgoblin you could call it a… prequel maybe? Or Iron Warrior could be called Ator IV: Part 1 and The Hobgoblin could be Ator IV: Part 2. Screw it. now I’m confused
July 12, 2011 at 8:07 am
they’re eating her! And then they’re gonna eat me! DURP! I’ma just stand around instead of running away.
July 13, 2011 at 5:14 pm
James, you should check out a Norwegian movie called “Trolljegeren” (“The Troll Hunter”) it’s really great, and it’s available with English subtitles.
August 17, 2011 at 2:11 pm
I remember Troll as a child and resaw it as a teenager in the 90′s before the Harry Potter books came out. It was only last year when I saw the end of it on cable that I realized where Rowling got that name from!!
:40: oh yes, James, people SHOULD view the place they’re going to rent or buy. Funny to bring it up! But why ARE people so surprised about their new places unless they just bought it over the phone, or in todays lifestyle, over the internet.
Never saw Troll 2 as a kid, but I might need to see it now for camp value.
Learned from Phelous and others on TGWTG site about the two Troll 3′s…yeah. Way to mess that one up! Glad you brought it up here, James.
I guess these series messed up the troll’s likeability in that now we refer to internet baddies as “trolls”. Wow.
August 17, 2011 at 8:16 pm
haha Llort. In Swedish lort (real spelling) means shit. So fitting.
September 3, 2011 at 7:57 am
you should review
