I am glad to say that I have been attending Camp Cult this year! lol…Lovin’ this year’s Monster Madness James! There should be a hat that has the “Cinemassacre” Logo on it and then a Camp Cult Patch!

    October 8, 2010 at 3:17 am

lol The ending is the best part. AHHH ITS THE SCREAMING SKULL! Have you ever seen brainscan? yea i know random 90′s? (not sure) movie abotu video games and horror! But its awesome. Keep up the good work. I think your vids are a reason to go about the day!

  • Cory Power

    October 8, 2010 at 3:19 am

Man, I could listen to James talk about monster movies all day. If he just sat down and talked non-stop about movies for 5 hours I’d listen to it all in one sitting…hey James go talk about movies non-stop for 5 hours!

    October 8, 2010 at 3:37 am

    James you are awesome!
I am from Spain and I give you the title of a spanish terror movie:
    “Karate a muerte en Torremolinos”
    In that film you´ll find:
    -Karate-zombies
    -Catholics Surfers
    -A Sea-Monster
    -Teenage virgins

I hope you “like” it :D

    October 8, 2010 at 3:40 am

This is one of my favorite MST3K episodes, and I didn’t even think for a second that it would make it into Monster Madness. Also, this is the first time I can think of where he actually used a clip of MST in a video, which is awesome. I’ve always loved that when Eric hits the ghost with the stool her arms just shoot out sideways

  • GoldRoger

    October 8, 2010 at 3:50 am

They even offer free burial services in case you die of fright ??

    THAT IS AWESOME

I remember another spanhis terror movie not famous:

“El Ataque del Pene Mutante del Espacio”
(Attack of the Mutant Dick from Outer Space)

    That one is hilarious.

  • October 8, 2010 at 4:11 am

Maybe they meant “died of fart?”

  • Tempest

    October 8, 2010 at 5:39 am

I gotta say, James, I love the feel of all these reviews. The camp fire and film reels, it’s all great. I can tell you put a lot more work into it this year.

The intro to this years Monster Madness is awesome. That it’s new persons saying the title every episode. Epic.

  • GialloHorror

    October 8, 2010 at 7:57 am

1958 was obviously a great year for shitty horror films lol! I own this one, and to be honest with you I didn’t find it too horrible. I’ve certainly seen worse.
I always laugh at the intro.

I wish every month was October so I could see some “Monster Madness” every month.

I’m really hoping we see “Beast of Yucca Flats” in this shitfest lol!

Seeing MST3K and seeing jump cuts reminded me of “The Girl With Gold Boots” “I’m Back!” LMAO!

I LOVE this shit! Thanks James

HOLY SHIT! Bro I own the SAME exact DVD pack! HAHA! A lot of shitty stinkers on there, although there are some good films too like “Night of the Living Dead”, and “Nosferatu”. I also like the Price films on that pakc like “Last Man on Earth”, “House on Haunted Hill” and “The Bat”

    You’re the man dude!

  • CaptnHowdy

    October 8, 2010 at 8:12 am

There’s a really odd jump cut in Poltergeist when there talking to the family next door and being bitten by bugs.. always thought that was strange.

Never knew that Murray had his own role in a movie. Guess he needed some cash for his world domination

  • Vlorsutes

    October 8, 2010 at 8:54 am

I was expecting, instead of the whole skull in the cooler at the end, that you would have had a random cut in your post-review dialogue. This movie, like all the others you’ve reviewed for this year, has its own “charm” that you just can’t get anywhere else, that it’s so bad that it’s somehow good. Look forward to seeing tomorrow’s release.

    October 8, 2010 at 9:32 am

This is one movie I have seen. Because of Mystery Science I have it on a VHS tape I recorded off Scifi. I remember the best part is the Gumby short before the movie, where gumby uses robots to do his work, pretty darn funny. YEeeeeeasss mother.

    October 8, 2010 at 12:36 pm

This is the best “Cinemassacre’s Monster Madness” voice so far. OMG, Mystery Science, I thought I will be looking for this show for all eternity!!! Thank you James!!!!! 50 cents? It did worth it. Now THAT is a shitty horror movie.

  • Schloss Ritter

    October 8, 2010 at 12:44 pm

Did you knock over your beer at the end? Heh.

  • October 8, 2010 at 1:30 pm

The plot is a little but like the plot of Hitchcock’s ‘Rebecca’. Anyone else notice?

  • October 8, 2010 at 1:33 pm

(It may KILL you) “If you watch it in front of a moving bus.”

“Yup, when you think shocking horror, you think german oomp pah pah music.”

The episode also had that great Crow’s laughing skull prank skit and the Gumby short. BEST EPISODE EVER!

  • Monstermash

    October 8, 2010 at 1:39 pm

50 cents , ask for your money back and get two gum balls out the candy machine. You’ll enjoy the cheap non lasting then that bad flick, lol. Who I’m kidding , If I made a movie it would turn out the same way maybe even worse ,lol .

  • RoryVideos

    October 8, 2010 at 1:51 pm

The director of this movie had to be a real “numb skull” to make a movie like this. You would have to be a complete “bonehead” to buy this movie after seeing the review for it. I’m glad this movie kept “quiet” because I’d probably “scream” if I saw it.

  • October 8, 2010 at 2:09 pm

Is that laugh at the end the laugh of Thriller.

  • Butch Bitch

    October 8, 2010 at 3:43 pm

@Marcus S W McLean- Yeah I did. Except Rebecca is obviously way better than this piece of shit!

    “The Screaming Bitch” haha.

  • svmazuk

    October 8, 2010 at 3:49 pm

your titles of the movie cracked me up

  • October 8, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Hahaha, I saw this on MST3K too the first time. I thought they did a great job with it.

I always felt kinda sorry for Mickey the gardener :/

  • October 8, 2010 at 4:01 pm

I wonder how many skulls they broke during the making of that film.

  • sutekh22

    October 8, 2010 at 4:02 pm

50′s were THE decade of cult horror movies for me. I was a Teenage Werewolf (still not on DVD), House on Haunted Hill (did James already cover this one in a past year), the Tingler (ditto?), The Alligator People (great suggestion!) and tons more. You had so many goofy bizarre what the heck were they thinking horror movies. And yet I love em all.

  • October 8, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Is that the skull from the Dr.Jekyl and Mr. Hyde AVGN review? :)

  • October 8, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I’m really enjoying these. but skulls are not scary. If there was some rotten flesh on that skull, or an eyeball in the socket. Then it would seem a bit more scary. but a skull on it’s own aint scary. We had one of those in biology class, I was never asacerd of that. :-)

  • Attack of the n00b

    October 8, 2010 at 6:24 pm

I havn’t seen a skeleton scream that much since Paris Hilton’s last music video.

  • October 8, 2010 at 7:47 pm

I’ve always been scared shitless by horror movies, but I’m so facinated by them. I want to know more about them without the clinging fear. Your Monster Madness videos helped me with that. Thanks, James.

  • October 8, 2010 at 8:09 pm

    Dear James,
I love all your videos weather its monster madness, board james , especially AVGN, but i think a feature you should add onto the website is related videos.
I watch video to video only having to go back to the same page before it and select another one to watch.
Now, i dont want to be a pain in the @$$ but i think you know what I’m talking about.

    Thanks James.

  • JarradReynolds

    October 8, 2010 at 8:37 pm

This year’s Monster Madness is coming along really awesome. I wonder if James will get into some of the horror B movies from the 90s like Castle Freak (1995) or arguably one of the most grotesque movies of the mid 90s (The Dentist); I suppose we shall see…

  • volt28

    October 9, 2010 at 1:19 am

Okay…I laughed hard at this one. Good job.
The plot reminds me of Rebecca. My mom loved that movie and book and iIwas named after it. Go figure. Thanks mom

This film was on a recent DVD I purchased called Drive-In Classics. It made my day to see james review it!

  • October 9, 2010 at 4:07 am

Yeah, as mentioned above MST3K did a great job with this one. It was the only way I could stand to watch it.

  • vinetari

    October 9, 2010 at 8:44 am

Producers were supposedly offering a free coffin and burial service to anyone who died of fright during the movie’s climax. There’s no documentation regarding if they ever had to make good on the offer, though one wonders if it would have stood up if you died of *boredom*… which was far more likely.

    October 9, 2010 at 10:19 am

I thought of Rebecca as well, actually. Pretty interesting considering i just saw Rebecca for the first time yesterday morning.

    October 20, 2010 at 2:16 am

I still need to get those fifty horror classics!

Oh yeah, and that is one of the best MST3K’s ever… love that you did a review of the movie as well… and when you got attacked by skull at the end… too funny.

Seriously, you have an old film projector, a smoke machine, and now a skull? WTF? :D

  • Blaine

    October 23, 2010 at 9:30 pm

Haha this movie is brilliant! Bought it today for £1. had drinks and a few friends over to watch it! Some movies are just so bad they’re good!
Keep up the epic reviews man!

  • October 26, 2010 at 12:05 am

Looks like someone fucked up making the DVD, because the missing footage is intact in a version I found here – http://retrovision.tv/freevideo/the-screaming-skull-1958/

I guess whoever put out the DVD just grabbed any old copy of the movie they had and didn’t even watch it.

Oh wow, the chick who did the intro voice on this one did a good job.

    December 19, 2010 at 2:01 am

I hope this clears up everything to everyone and James. I watched this movie earlier today, and my DVD copy is only the movie itself. No double-pack, or in a collection. I watched it, and went it got to the jump cut scenes, they didn’t jump cut. The first jump cut you show is her walking up to the window, then she closes it. Right as she closes it she turns to the right and saw the portrait of Marion for the first time and was frightened. The second she says she wants her husband to take her to the Doctor in the morning, while he refuses. Hope this helps.

I actually saw this movie and two other bad horror movies being sold in a Poundland store (a shop here in England were everything costs £1, it’s a popular chain store). It’s a good thing I watched this review XD

  • January 13, 2011 at 9:04 pm

    I think I have that 50 Horror movie pack…

Nope, same company, but mine is a “Chilling Classics” 50 movie collection.

  • TheBeatles4ever

    January 29, 2011 at 2:15 pm

@Allen Lucas No problem! I found my copy of this in a Barnes & Nobles. Here in Florida we have this like really nice, two story Barnes & Nobles. With a whole room dedicated to Music and Movies. I found my copy there, for about $4 or $5. Along with other movies that were there, which I was surprised they were. Hope this helps! (:

Keeping old paintings of the old wife who died? Sounds like the poem “My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning. I wonder if they got inspiration from that poem. Maybe they should do something on “Porphyria’s Lover”. Read it, and you’ll see what I mean. Robert Browning had some issues with women, it seemed, based on his poetry.
