I’m wondering the same thing as MotherfuckerAndy.

  • October 2, 2010 at 3:22 am

I’m glad you’re posting your videos so late. It doubles my chances to be the first one to see them (it’s morning where I live).

  • Dr. Forrester

    October 2, 2010 at 3:25 am

Good show. It’s a shame the werewolf costume was so shoddy

  • October 2, 2010 at 3:30 am

Yeah! Anthony Fracassi is right. What the hell is Twilight?
It was so strange to hear James mentioning it. But I actually would want to hear his oppinion about that shitty movie. But if James one day says something good about it, my respect for him will fall down.

  • October 2, 2010 at 3:30 am

There is just something about October. The setting sun right at dinner time. The sudden cooling of the air. And the sounds of bleachers filling up every Friday for the high school football games just down the street.

I went to the store today in hopes of finding a dvd of some great horror movie. Nothing. Screw it. I’m going to watch Burnt Offerings and go to bed.

  • October 2, 2010 at 3:36 am

    great work as always james

  • WatchmenFTW

    October 2, 2010 at 3:55 am

I wish there was a Universal monster crossover where the monster was actually played by Boris Karloff.
But that’s another story, good work James.

I’m really liking the on-screen bits. Makes it feel more personal, plus you’re able to do some sight-gags like the fog thing.

    October 2, 2010 at 9:41 am

Thats not enough, you need even more FOG!! This Movie doesn’t look to bad.

  • October 2, 2010 at 10:10 am

Twilight is fucking bullshit and any horror movie fan, World of Darkness player, and anybody who has delved into the lore of vampires, werewolves, or both knows it. I’m all three. How dare you James, it was Underworld that had both vampires and werewolves in the same movie and scenes.

And actually the cape trick started in Dracula 1931 when Dracula encounters Van Helsing, Dracula tries the vampire Jedi mind trick on Van Helsing, after it fails and Dracula tries the more direct approach Van Helsing whips out a small cross to repel Dracula, with actors directly in front of the camera Dracula does the cape trick and with the camera in it’s position you probably didn’t notice.

  • frostare

    October 2, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Bela´s talking… just wow. I now see the scene where the “children of the night” reference comes from. The only thing I like about Twilight is how much people are obsessed in loving it… and even hating it, none of them are anything original but some people do so more than others. To me, that is amusing and the movie, indifferent.

  • MisterE

    October 2, 2010 at 1:02 pm

it cool to see about more similar yet kind of obscure (compared to the well known universal classics) horror films from this era. from the looks of it, you could do an extended video, or series of videos, just detailing for example all of the appearances of Lugosi in his role as dracula. or all movies featuring dracula or frankenstein, etc. i’m sure there would be plenty of obscure films uncovered that way. anyway, monster madness rules and gives us all something to look forward to each year. great job james!

  • Mojomaker

    October 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm

  • Madpotator

    October 2, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Watched yesterday’s Monster Madness with today’s, because I somehow forgot yesterday, even though I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Both videos are awesome and great start for the month. I’ll probably hunt down some of the films after this is over. :)

  • October 2, 2010 at 2:38 pm

Good review but it needs more fog and cowbell…at least more fog

  • October 2, 2010 at 3:39 pm

    October 2, 2010 at 4:58 pm

    Good review.

  • Rasengan999

    October 2, 2010 at 5:13 pm

Oh, don’t you talk about my fog! I LIKE FOG! (Altered line from AVGN VS NC)

Also, Hey James, if you didn’t already make every episode, you should totally make a Monster Madness video on the Tremors series! It’s defiantly a Cult Classic, and it is AWESOME! So, if you need an extra idea, there ya go. But I’m sure you already have too many ideas to handle. Hey, you’re awesome, and keep up the awesomeness good work. ^_^

  • John07

i thought this movie was going to be a shitty one, but is rather good. U need more fog and more… cowbell LOL

What this set needs is more fog! lol! Reminds me of the SNL joke about more cowbell. lol!

  • william0wilson

    October 2, 2010 at 8:20 pm

personally, i didn’t like your reviews in this october so far. they seemed rushed and lacking of emotions which set the tone of your usual reviews. (ok, publishing a review every day for a month probably is very time consuming. but for me, it seems to tend towards a quantity over quality type of tone.). overall, i like your videos, but your last reviews didn’t get me interested in the movies at all.

  • nimm99jd

    October 2, 2010 at 8:24 pm

    October 2, 2010 at 10:26 pm

I heard you say something about Twlilight. Why would you compare Twilight to any of the classic horror movies. Twilight is garbage.

  • sastath

    October 2, 2010 at 10:48 pm

You have been watching films from the days ago I’m watching modern films… and I have to say these films suck donkey shit.

Watched Mirrors, Parnormal Activity, and Quarantine/REC, and they all sucked so much ass.

Didn’t Dracula cover his face with his cape in Dracula (Lugosi version)? When Van Helsing pulls a cross on him?

  • October 7, 2010 at 4:00 am

Kinda weird, but kinda great, reminded me of all the spoof films, come to think of it http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/vizzedindex.php?ref=65348

  • October 7, 2010 at 12:32 pm

I really like the opening and closing titles of these videos.. very neat stuff. Also, how you’re sitting there with the projector.. nice touch.

This movie looks so cool! The set-pieces alone make it worth watching.

  • Ben_from_G-town

    October 19, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Great review of this movie as well. Also fun to hear all the Vampire vs. Werewolf factoids as well. And when you brought out the fog machine that made it for me! Hahaha.

And yeah, I thought he covered his face with the cape in Dracula too.

  • im-ho-tep

    October 25, 2010 at 11:33 pm

TCM showed this last night. Andreas, the werewolf, is a joke! He is always walking around with a grocery bag or laundry, and in one scene transformed from human to wolf offscreen in about 3 seconds. Lugosi was great, however.

  • ddt_Eagleeye

    November 3, 2010 at 9:10 pm

    Maybe you didn’t know, so…

there’s a german punkrock band called “Die Ärzte”. On their album “13″ is a song called “Der Graf” (The count) and it starts with Bela Lugosi from the 1931′s movie Dracula saying “Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make!”.
And – on a side note – the band’s drummer artist name is Bela B. His actual name is Dirk Felsenheimer but as a huge fan of Lugosi and his movies he went with the name of Bela.

    Cheers!

    March 21, 2012 at 4:14 am

I would so totally support an Angry Movie Horror Nerd. Hell, we all should help you in give that spin-off a shot!

I can’t believe i’m gonna say this, but this Monster Madness Series are way, WAY much better than any AVGN video i’ve seen so far. -And i’m the kind of dude who thinks videogames will kick movies anytime off its place  as the massive entertainment in no more than 10 years from now-

You’re THE man James. I cannot find proper words to pay you the proper respect you deserve for your passionate work. Thank you so much!

    October 30, 2012 at 6:02 pm

If James likes fog so much I hope for his sake he’s seen Horror Hotel with Christopher Lee, I swear they just dumped a load of cotton wool on the set of that movie.

  • October 9, 2013 at 9:11 am

    We need more fog!

  • October 30, 2013 at 3:18 am

This movie is fantastic for its time. In fact its fantastic for any time really. And as old as this movie is, it has one of the most cold-blooded lines I’ve ever heard to this day. I won’t say the line but it’s basically tesla telling andreas to go die. Not just what he says but how he says it, it’s cold as ice.

  • November 8, 2013 at 10:20 am

Dracula also fights a werewolf in the movie Vanhelsing, by Universal Studios.
