Future Plans – AVGN: The Movie

James / September 23rd, 2010

As hinted several times before, an AVGN feature film is planned. The script was finished two years ago, and it may still take another two years or so before it’s finally made. For the moment, my main priority is keeping up with the online videos. I know this will stir up some early hype, but I just want to let everyone know that it’s planned. The video explains it better.

What awesome news on my 32nd birthday.

James, all I know is this: There are a lot of people here who get really impatient waiting for each new nerd video, and I can understand why. I mean, I love them as much as anybody. You remind me a great deal of myself so watching them is almost like a slice of my own childhood.

Still, there are some who get really demanding and beg for this or that, or ask what the wait is all about, etc. Personally, I think what you do is really entertaining and I think that if it takes time, then I can wait. If there’s going to be an AVGN movie I think it will be great and I think you should take as much time as you want or need to make it exactly how you want to. I’m sure we’ll all love it.

I haven’t heard of this before so I’m stoked- but I’ll still be here excited to see it regardless of how long it will take.

I guess all this ass-kissing is just my way of saying we all love what you do, even if I think patience and gratitude isn’t given nearly enough. So keep up the good work, I think I speak for everybody when I say we’re all looking forward to this project.

  • September 23, 2010 at 2:12 am

AWESOMMEE!!! you really work hard to keep us entertained James. I hope your movie makes it to the big screens worldwide!

And you must have Mafat Conspiracy as you’re worst enemy !

  • September 23, 2010 at 3:00 am

Heh. I thought it was a joke when I saw the add for the Philly Cheese. But I have to say I’m both thrilled and envious of your James. Thrilled that a movie from a guy who’s got a terrifyingly similar taste if humor, drama, terror, suspense, and ect is making a movie that I could see along the lines of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure; is going to be interesting and different to see to say the least.

And envious… well. Your doing what alot of us wish we could do, and I won’t lie that I’m not one of them. But James, even though I’m no AVGN or filmmaker of your skill or passion, your still an inspiration James. And I know that this video of yours is going to inspire someone to do what they’ve always wanted to do.

Your great James, thank you for doing what you do.

  • ZombiePaul

    September 23, 2010 at 3:07 am

I thought of a structure similar to Wayne’s World as soon as I imagined How you could pull off the Nerd in a film. This sounds brilliant James! Good luck with this one; I’m sure I’m not the only one that is beyond psyched to see how this turns out!

  • September 23, 2010 at 3:12 am

Very awesome tease sir. And to those who are bitching about not getting more NERD videos sooner: STOP IT!

I mean, its a great thing to want to be in demand like this and its only through hard work that you cinemassacre folks have cultivated it. Its a great thing that you’ve built up such passionate users to you and your work. But to us passionate users: You gotta allow space for the creation to come to fruition. Some GREAT things are on the horizon. Patience will make it happen folks. In short, stop yer bitchin!

Now the potential of this AVGN movie and what it will/could be will be swimming in my head til the day I see it. This is the SGT. PEPPERS to your work. Everything is leading up to this. Good luck with it. Cause us real passionate users you’ve cultivated are now frothing at the mouth!

Keep up the good work guys! Can’t wait! My balls are erect with excitement for this news!

  • September 23, 2010 at 3:18 am

All I can Say Is that I never even tought of u lettin the nerd die, your videos have bieng twice as long regularly this year, and damn good! I did get a little worried about a nerd movie…. it was hard to embrace just by the title, kinda like the ATHF colon MFFT ( what a bunch of bull…) movie… that wasn’t that good, but not so bad either (pleased no one)… but after seeing all of cinemmasacre and your point of view in movies, im sure THIS is something u have your heart and talent on.. and will be worth watching, and from CR I hope you hit it big so you can make all of your projects bro.

PS, if u get to pic which countries this will show teathers on, pic Costa Rica, at least for a night, a have a handfull of friends that will go see it :)…. or.. I can just wait for the DVD……

WOW, great news James! Thanks for the info! For some reason I can’t help but think of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure when I try to imagine AVGN’s movie.

I really do hope you manage to get a wide release so maybe I could see it in Malta. I’m sure that if AVGN manages to reach a lot of screens he will become very popular!

Anyways, if you need anything, just ask. I can’t be physically present during filming because of the long distances but anything I can do online, I’m here to help.

dude…….. This is the best news ive heard in a long time.
If it does hit theaters, you can count on me being there opening night.
If it has a small release and hits select theaters, i will find it and be there opening night.
If it gets a Independent film release at a film festival, i will find the festival, make the trip regardless of how far and i will be there for the first showing.
    This is amazing news.
I cant wait to hear more.
This would be a awesome way to get the Nerd to appeal to more than just the internet audience.
keep us posted……. you have all your fans foaming at the mouth now.
The Nerd is my homeboy, consider the word spread.
Holy crap this is amazing, i just cant believe this is real.

    September 23, 2010 at 4:34 am

I’m almost a little sad for a couple of reasons… First, I’m all excited, and I realize it takes a long time to produce, like, years…. I wish it was in theaters, like, yesterday…

2nd, I realized that when this does hit mainstream, The Nerd won’t be ours anymore. Not our little internet secret. My mom will be quoting Nerd stuff, and my favorite ‘net character will be public property. That makes me sad…

Must be what Seattleites (people from Seattle?) felt like when the rest of the world discovered their music scene… sigh…

But, for now, you’re our Nerd! I’ll cherish all the remaining intimate time with you and the Nerd community..

I’ve been expecting something like this, i hope to see this at AT LEAST the sundance film festival :D

And as you where explaining it I was also thinking about peewee’s big adventure and saturday night life characters being enlarged on the big screen.

    Can’t wait to hear more!

  • September 23, 2010 at 5:01 am

Nice to hear that. I can already imagine what it is like, since you already spoiled the whole movie by comparing it to Wayne’s World.
Looking forward to it, I guess it won’t have a release schedule like Duke Nukem Forever ^^

I think an AVGN movie is the best way to start off your projects for a few reasons. For one, the AVGN has a great following on YouTube and GameTrailers/Screwattack. Also, with the rising popularity of video games, a video game centric movie could be a big hit.

Best of luck to you James.

  • Imgema

    September 23, 2010 at 6:25 am

This is very interesting. However, i would like to give you a small advice. If this movie is about AVGN, stay away from melodrama.

It doesn’t have to have any over-sentimental or emotional scenes. At all. This is a cliche and i know that you don’t like cliches in movies. I know that maybe you are planning to flesh out the character more, but there are other ways to do it.

For instance, i’ve seen a few fan-made video game movies like Megaman, Zelda, Street-fighter etc and they use so much melodrama and over-dramatic acting that they completely miss the point so much that they become ridiculous. Neither Megaman or Streetfighter were about emotions. And even Zelda could be just a little less than a drama. AVGN falls in the same category. He is a funny guy who lose his temper over shitty videogames. I’m sure nobody wants him to be some guy with daddy issues in the end or something. Its a mistake that many professional filmmakers also do.

But of course thats just my opinion, as a fan. You also mentioned Wayne’s World, so that means that i probably shouldn’t worry about this. Anyway, good luck James.

  • Fill

    September 23, 2010 at 6:28 am

i bet the game review is something huge like E.T.

  • September 23, 2010 at 6:32 am

I sure as fuck hope it’s not in 3D….god I can’t wait for that fad to end. I trust in James to make a movie with a engrossing storyline not something that relies on effects.

I’ve been a follower from the start, seen everything on this site at least twice and have been racking my brain on how I can contribute or work with these guys ( If I lived in the area I probably already would have ). So James, Mike or whoever is reading this…feel free to contact me at any time if you need anything at all for any project. I am a musician, comedian and a writer.

I’m ALL for this as long as it means we’re not going to lose the Nerd in the event James blows up and goes mainstream. That’s the only thing I fear. Not that I don’t wish him the best, because I do but his video’s have become such a staple in my life that I selfishly don’t wanna see them end lol.

Very nice, this is something I’m looking forward to, it might be a sad departure (community wise) but I think this won’t kill the nerd, or your moviemaking themes in any way shape or form.
I think you also mentioned something about making a funny horror movie? That’d be really great! We all remember how Mr. Bucket turned out, it was funny as shit but still kinda scary you know, when I first watched that I was at a friend’s place, and he said he had a Mr. Bucket in his closet so that was some scary shit right there, great confirmation James, keep up the good shit, we all love you!

Dude your truly one of the most talented people on the net. If Pure Pwnage could get a TV Show deal, i’m sure some distributor will pick it up!. I hope you have heard of Pure Pwnage, great web series turned TV show. The Nerd is a character with endless possibilities, could spawn sequels. One of my favorite reviews was the SwordQuest ep. the way you explain how someone needs to reclaim that sword, sounded like a movie all on its own. hell think about this, someone said heres a great idea, lets make a movie about star wars fanboys who steal Phantom menace! now thats a great movie, and having said that it reminds me of the nerd with swordquest. i know that wont be in it but it was a funny thought i had lol. keep up the great work James! cant wait for Oct. 1st!

James, that is the best news I’ve ever heard. I love your movies, as you may figure, but your real serious ones like The Deader the Better, Cinephobia and The Head Incident are my favourites.
I am also a film maker with huge passion for making movies and I can really see myself in your position.
To combine the nerd with your love for movies is a great idea and I’m really looking forward to it.

And, also, I’m studying film-making right now and has done so for the past two years (taking courses sence 2002) and if you want any help at aal from Sweden, I can do whatever you need.

Wow man. That’s pretty amazing that you actually got a script done, and 2 years ago! I mean, where do you find all this time to do all this creative stuff? Its pretty impressive that you are actually in some kind of planning stages for a full length movie and its obviously one of those thing that if you want it to get done, you just have to do it. So, for you to be on the verge of taking that plunge, and investing into a project on that scale, must be very exciting for you. Sure there are risks, but its something you have to do! It’s so cool to see someone who is passionate about what they do, and we can tell that this is why you do what you do, James. Good luck!

  • September 23, 2010 at 8:35 am

Holy crap. That’s all I can say. Holy crap. HOLY SHIT!!!

And if the movie requires a 14 or 15 year old (my approximate age by the time the movie starts being a full production), I’m definitely here. Seriously, I’m not kidding. I’ll act. Why am I still talking? I have no fucking idea.

I think this is a good way to get your AVGN fans interested in your other work as well. Anytime you put out a video or short film that doesn’t have to do with the nerd, I see too many comments along the lines of, “This isn’t AVGN you assclown!” which is rather annoying. I have yet to see all there is to see on your site, but I’ve seen quite a bit, and you are very good at what you do. I look forward to the movie, and anything else you get to do along the way.

  • September 23, 2010 at 9:26 am

I don’t know how you do it but thanks for doing it. Every week I get a small piece of nostalgia from this site and it is something I would never give up. Best of luck on the film and everything else.

This sounds great. It sounds like you’re on the right track if your using Rocky and Wayne’s World as the spark for the AVGN feature film. I have to admire people like you who chase after their dreams and don’t give up like most of us have. Keep making movies and keep pursuing your dream because if you don’t, the opportunity will pass you by and I know all about that.

As a fan, I want to see an AVGN movie that is true to the spirit and effort that you put into all your videos. Most other people would just throw something together with a few gross out laughs and turn it ino a Jackass-type movie. I know that’s not what you’re about. I enjoy low-brow humor just as much as anyone, but I think that if you really want to make an impression don’t make it the focal point. Of course, with AVGN you have to include some low-brow stuff but it’s hard to hit the right dramatic notes if you veer off too much in that direction.

I’m really looking forward to what you have in store. I’d be happy to help anyway I can once the time comes. I live in nyc so if you’re filming any scenes here and need extras or even volunteers to do some grunt work, I’d be happy to do it if time permits.

Good Luck James. Keep making movies and we’ll keep watching.

This is the big news about AVGN? I’m disappointed.

James says it right there AVGN was a side project that took on a life of it’s own. The problem is James could never just allow it to have a life of it’s own, even though AVGN is the biggest thing going on here James decided to use it to try and pull along the rest of the stuff he wants to do.

I mean really, AVGN should have a web site of it’s own, I mean what a brand disconnect that I have to go to cinemassacre.com to get updated on AVGN….

This “Movie” will probably end up playing out like Kick Assia on the nostaliga critic site. What studio would release a world wide movie about a character no one outside of the internet’s niche video game demographic?

Anyway, sad to see you flubbing up your masterstroke. You should’ve kept pumping out 2 episodes a week of AVGN and ignored the rest of your stuff (like board james and such) until you had the world by the balls and could do anything you wanted to.

If anything AVGN should be doing a documentary where James goes to all the video game devs and asks them about shitty games and how they got involved in making them, maybe even meet with LJN and make them apologize.

Instead we’re getting AVGN Wayne’s World with 0 budget. Awesome………………………………………………………………….

James has given you hundreds of hours of entertainment FOR FREE. Why do you act like he owes you ANYTHING?

QUIT BEING SO SELFISH. NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT PLEASING JUST YOU.

An artist has to evolve to stay relevant; and from an outsiders perspective, it is quite clear that James is giving us as much variety as possible to entertain us all.

If James ONLY did Nerd, it would get very stale, and fast. The move to 1 episode per month, even though the decision was a practical move, it was brilliant nonetheless. It has made each episode so much sweeter when it finally does co. This movie will be no different. I can hardly contain myself!

Although I thoroughly enjoy the AVGN series (as well as the videos you post on this site) and understand your work with Gametrailers.com and Spike TV helps pay the bills, I think the idea of a AVGN movie is something you should really reconsider. Nothing is wrong with being ambitious but if you’re absolutelty serious about filmmaking I would put this AVGN script back a drawer and focus one of those horror movies or any ideas you have for movies. What works about the AVGN series is that they are a series of small vignettes, tightly edited and produced (much like SNL skits) HOWEVER, anything beyond 10-15 minutes will seem convoluted, tired and redundant . Also for every Wayne’s World movie, there you have dozens of other SNL skits that bombed as
    feature films.

    September 23, 2010 at 12:28 pm

@Billistic: I see your point and I somewhat agree, but I think that, because AVGN is by far his most popular “brand”, it makes sense for him to expand on that. He can still do all the other stuff on the side, in fact, AVGN is what has made most of his other projects possible by ensuring some financial stability for James. So I see no problem with him giving the majority of his fans what they want first and foremost: more AVGN.

That’s when I thought you were going to get burned out on it, but, I’m happy to hear about your movie and I’m excited to hear (and/or see) what you come up with!

  • September 23, 2010 at 12:33 pm

    @Billistic
Do you honestly feel that I didn’t let the Nerd have a life of its own? When the Nerd hit big in 2006, I dropped everything to pursue it 100%. I was pumping out videos at a sickening pace. I’m one person, doing the gameplay, the writing, the shooting, the acting, the editing, and running this website.

Some nights, I barely ate or slept. I have a wife that would hardly see me. I rarely got a chance to breathe the outside air. After all the sacrifices I have made to keep the AVGN videos going and the toll it’s taken on my personal life, what more do you expect?

“2 episodes a week?” Did I read that correct? You’re joking. Or you clearly have no idea how much time it takes to make a Nerd episode. If I cut corners and made these videos quicker and cheaper, you would definitely notice a huge decrease in quality. Or do you prefer quantity over quality?

I have the given AVGN 100% from the beginning and allowed the character to blossom, while working on the feature film screenplay behind the scenes. Obviously, I have taken a lot of time on the script to make it good, and I wouldn’t be making it unless I thought it was a great idea.

You’re entitle to be a doubter and say whatever you want.

    @ Billistic

    Hi,
I think you should reconsider your comment. I don’t think you fully realize the amount of time and energy it takes to make all those AVGN episodes. You know, Mr. Rolfe doesn’t owe us anything. He’s doing all this only to entertaining us, his fans. He can’t keep on doing as many episodes as he used to, he’s a married man and he have a life outside Internet.

I’m limited to things I can say here because my English is not perfect, but you should really go and see his ”Cinemassacre 200” movie, in which you realize that Mr. Rolfe is not ONLY the AVGN, he’s a filmmaker. So, doing movies and such is more than just his hobby, and if he wants to make others things like Board James, well he can do whatever the fuck he wants to. After all, we’re on HIS site, where AVGN belongs to.

Anyway, I’ll stop my rant here, all I wanna say is that Mr. Rolfe can’t please everyone for sure, and if you want to only see AVGN, well go to Screwattack or Gametrailers…

And on this announce for the AVGN Movie, I can’t say that I’m not excited to see the project come alive, hope it’ll be cool to film it :)

I first heard about you web surfing on youtube, when I stumbled upon one of your videos (the chronologically confused about sequels one to be exact), and I’ve been hooked ever since. I regularly visit the site to see if any new videos have been posted, and re-watch past ones. Fuckin hilarious man!!!! Basically what I’m sayin is keep the vids comin, and I hope to see you as pissed off as ever lol. And good luck with the movie!!!

    September 23, 2010 at 1:04 pm

i’m sure this “movie” that’s still in work, would be great no matter what, cause growing up with the nerd, he’s still the same person that loves to review movies, board games, and hanging with friends, and video games from what I’ve seen, but if they really all are true fans, then they wouldn’t complain about what the movie is, and the pace of James’ videos not posting when they needed to be, and thus i am one of them, yet i do not complain and as long as i see his videos, i don’t really care when they show, cause i’m always glad to see his videos, new and old, and they still make me laugh every time. love your videos and and the wife does too, keep doing what u can, cause i’ll always watch what you post…
    your big fan always

  • September 23, 2010 at 1:15 pm

    Mr. Rolfe,
I’m happy for you, man. You’re living your dreams, which is more than most people can say. Just like you’re taking off in the film world, I intend to take off – quite literally – in the flight world. I take inspiration from this news, because it means you managed to become what you always wanted to be. Quite frankly, I’d still love this movie when I saw it even if it was just you screaming swear words while you take a shit on the toilet (don’t take that to serious, now!). You’re gonna go places, and we’ll all be watching. Well done, James Rolfe!

One of the most inspiring things in the world i s to see an artist that really loves what he or she is doing. This is why James has always been one of my favorite people on the Internet to follow, he always emanates with enthusiasm for what he’s doing. I’ve always enjoyed his videos, partially for their quality, but also because I enjoy seeing someone with that much passion for what he’s doing succeed.

For much the same reason I will enjoy seeing this project unravel. It really seems like he’s putting a lot of care behind this project, and it seems like he’s really excited about it. Few things could inspire a dude that much :D

Few Questions, James. First off, It’s great that you’re going to make an AVGN movie. Go for the dream. Now here my questions.

    1. I love your Top 10 Shitty Shatner Movies video and I was wondering if it’s going to be put on Youtube. Are you going to post it on Youtube sometime later?

    2. Are this year’s Monster Madness videos going to be posted on Youtube everyday in October like all the other years?

i fully agree what Elvanya has said cuple of comments ago, you can’t please everyone, James and some people aren’t able to realize what afford it takes to make all those great episodes like AVGN, Board James and all the other projects you’re doin’ or have done. i hope that the movie will be sucessful in a way you think it should be and know that we, the fans-of the man behind cinemassacre- support you as good as we’re able to.

keep up the really, really great work and greetings from a true fan living in germany^^

  • September 23, 2010 at 1:42 pm

oh, just noticed that i have a mistake in the first sentence :D:D, of course James is able to see the afford which it takes to create these episodes, he’s the man doin’ them :D, what i was trying to say is that ONLY some people can’T realize this afford^^. I hope you get my point :D

WOW. I cannot believe this!!!!! An ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD MOVIE. WOW. I’ve been a huge fan of the Nerd for the past few years, and this is just mind-blowingly awesome. I really, really hope you can get a theatrical release–I think there’s definitely enough fan support out there for you to make a pretty good proposal to a studio, or if it’s self-funded, to different distribution companies. Whatever the case, if it’s out in theaters near where I live, I guarantee you I’ll be there on day one.

I have to say your AVGN works are my fav so I thank you so much for giving us this truelly remarkable entertainment. I just remain disappointed that I cannot give you the money you deserve.

  • cwalrus23

    September 23, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Don’t listen to the doubters. Just make the movie you want to make. Just like Rocky, you gotta take your shot at your dream just so you can prove it to yourself. If you fail, you fail, but at least you failed knowing that you tried your best.

“It’s not about how hard you hit. it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

    Words to live by.

I think it’s only appropriate for James to do an AVGN feature film before moving on to his other ideas. It’s a good way to both give fans what they want and introduce James to new fans. I had friends who never watched SNL but watched Waynes World and loved that movie. It’s a challenge to make a movie that both hardcore fans and new fans will enjoy, but I think James can do it.

    ____

Oh just as an aside for James and any other aspiring filmmakers who want to try to make a low budget film. If you like Stephen King and want to adapt one of his short stories, he has a “Dollar Baby” program that allows up and coming filmmakers the rights to adapt one of his short stories for only a $1 dollar fee. This only applies to short stories written by Stephen King and NOT his novels. It’s a good way to get your hands on a good story for very little money, and perhaps a good way to exercise your craft if you like doing adaptations of stories especially of you like horror.

    September 23, 2010 at 2:06 pm

    @Billistic
    1. James is already doing more with AVGN than basically anyone else has done with something similar. I get the feeling that he is more into horror movies than video games but he made one youtube video about castlevania 2 and it just happened to get way more popular than all the stuff he really wanted to do so he just went with it for our entertainment.
    2. Kickassia didn’t really grab me but that doesn’t mean this will have the same success level.
    3. cinemassacre has lots of other great stuff. I don’t like interviews (period, I skip them on the Daily Show, Colbert Report, etc.) so I don’t watch those. The monster madness and other movie reviews are awesome. Board James is freaking awesome, why would you have him skip that? I will admit when I started the Mr. Bucket video and saw it was like 20 minutes long and dramatic I thought I was in for suck. But it turned out to be golden. Weapons and Warriors is one of my favorite James videos ever. When I saw the way James characterized the new character that appeared in Tornado Rex, I realized he is an outstanding writer and totally capable of making a great screenplay. A lot of video makers, like say Nostalgia Critic, or Cinema Snob, or Spoony or whatever are great at making hilarious responses to various things. But James actually plans, uses foreshadowing, builds up tension, writes a cohesive script for his videos. That’s why they take longer to make than a weekly Nostalgia Critic video or a 3 AM rambling Wrestle Wrestle video. I actually like those Wrestle Wrestle videos even though I’ve never watched a Wrestling Video in my life, so there is something to be said for other sites having a greater sum total after multiplying quantity times quality. James has the best overall quality score for sure, though.
    4. I would love to see a documentary with AVGN going after LJN and recovering the lost Sword Quest relics and whatnot but I doubt people would be willing to appear.

If the monthly nerd episodes would have to go on hiatus for who knows how long to make the nerd movie a reality, honestly I think I’d rather just continue to see the episodes. I’m sure the movie script is great and would be just as good or better than the episodes, but to go without anything new from the nerd for perhaps a year or more would be terrible.

James is right, all people are entitled to their opinions it is just sad that someone joins his site then rags on the individual, some people need to grow up and look how they are living their lives. I have to hand it to James because he pours everything into what he does, and what he enjoys to do. How many times can someone else say that about their job and or hobby. Keep up the good work James, the movie will kick ass, and Monster Madness will be religously watched in October!!

I always wanted to be a writer and after college, I thought I’d have all this time to practice my craft but life gets in the way. I got married 2 years ago and now have a 1 year old son, and my wife got laid off from her job so now I have to work 2 jobs and I really don’t have time to write anymore and I don’t know when or if I ever will. When I see someone like James doing what he loves to do and trying to achieve his dream, it really inspires me and makes me not want to give up.

Sometimes you have to put things on hold to fulfill your responsibilities but if you are true to yourself, you owe it to yourself to try for your dream and see if you can reach it. I give james a lot of credit for doing this. I only hope I’ll have to courage to reach back and try to achieve my own dreams when the right ime comes.

That’s kinda funny, because I was thinking about a Nerd movie equivalent as Wayne’s world since a long time. So it’s like a dream coming true !

  • September 23, 2010 at 2:42 pm

Cannot wait! I’m happy for him, it seems that he’s getting to do what he’s always wanted to do in life, (films) and on his own terms.

This is gunna rule, Go nerd go!!!

Aww you were so cute when you were talking about your dreams, that this AVGN movie might help you to make movies for bigger audiences. I can’t wait to see it and I hope for the best :) Good luck.

  • September 23, 2010 at 2:53 pm

James, take this with the best of intentions from one of your most hardcore fans, go for it! Don’t wait a few more years to start making it, just simply go for it man. If that means making an AVGN review every six months to get the project rolling, then do it. The real fans will understand, those who say you’re putting the AVGN out to pasture can suck on a frozen turd icicle! And once you get the film completed, take it to the Sundance Film festival in France. If it garners huge success then it could either go to the Sundance channel or possibly even movie theatres here in the US and around the world. I hope you get filthy stinkin’ rich off of the AVGN movie, James, I really do. Best of luck to you. I know I live in Texas, but if there is anything I can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask me. I’ll do anything to help make the film come to fruition and become a major success for you. Good Luck and best wishes James.

James has been making Nerd videos for over 4 years. I always look forward to watching the new AVGN, but I can only imagine that he would eventually move on. The videos require a lot of work, and he is limited to what he can do with them. The AVGN series was like a launching pad, and James is very lucky to have had the success he has. In my opinion, he’s paid his dues, and can retire the Nerd if he really wants to. I bet he’ll ‘retire’ the Nerd, and then bring the character back on special occasions. I could totally live with that. It will be a sad day when the Nerd does get retired, but I’m always happy to check out older videos. They’re all still very entertaining. Can’t wait for the AVGN movie!

I’m very excited to see how the AVGN movie will be! I’ve been following your videos since the early days (Angry Nintendo Nerd!). I’m an audio engineer and worked on a good bit of independent films, when the time comes for you to make your movie I would love to lend a hand in the post production… for free! until then good sir, stay angry!

Keep it up man! I think you are going in the right direction with this. I think the AVN will play up a lot like the Pee wee’s Big adventure movie or something to that crossover. Hey, if you ever need help, I actually have a lot of great contacts. Look up “Sockbaby” and I think you will see what I mean. I can give you more info if you ping my email. Been a fan since May of ’08 and won’t ever stop! Whatever breaks need to be taken from the AVGN series in order to get the film made will be no problem to me. Those who are complaining about such things should realize that those breaks, if he even takes any, will contribute to what will most likely be the best and (by far) longest AVGN episode of them all.

  • GrimGary

    September 23, 2010 at 3:39 pm

Go for it. I personally don’t get how a movie about the AVGN would work. I like the AVGN being angry at video games, outside of that…meh. But, if you can pull it off then go for it.

I have enjoyed all the projects so far you have worked on James. Just don’t go so far outside the box that it makes little or no sense to the source material…like an LJN game.

I miss Rolling Rock beers btw.

  • September 23, 2010 at 3:43 pm

Oh wow, an AVGN Movie! This is gonna be great. Yes, please don’t reveal anything for now. You’ll spoil the excitement.

I really want you to make a remake of The Head Incident. I love that movie. Using your skills and experiences that you’ve acquired over the years, I’m sure you can come up with something bigger, badder and better than the original. Make it the scariest movie you’ll ever make.

James, I hope the few people telling you to stay where you are and keep doing the same thing don’t get to you and make you resent the fans at all. I’m sure the majority of us think you should be pursuing your dreams and would love to see the movie come to fruition. I, for one, will be waiting anxiously for this movie as I do all your projects.
I have seen nothing from you to show any lack of creativity or talent and anyone doubting you is likely to be promptly proven a jackass.

2 episodes a week?? Dude, even if he was Flash, it wouldn’t happen that fast. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, there’s something called “a life”. Look it up and get one . The thing is pretty important. Oh, and there’s another thing called “knowledge”. It is something that few people these days have. You should get some.

@Comments similar in nature to: James owes you nothing. You’re an ungrateful asshole.

James owes me nothing, he owes it to himself to milk the right cow at the right time and get money get paid dolla dolla bill ya’ll. He can worry about all the other projects when he’s got time and money.

    @James:

“2 episodes a week?” Did I read that correct? You’re joking.

    - Yeah, I meant to write month, sorry man.

Or do you prefer quantity over quality?

    - Quantity. I’m bored and need shit to watch, think I’d stop watching if you shows sucked a little? Doesn’t stop me from watching Nostalgia Critic. I’d rather you sucked a little now and got major, then got paid, then got a movie going.

    @Pyrrhuloxia

    1. James is already doing more with AVGN than basically anyone else has done with something similar. I get the feeling that he is more into horror movies than video games but he made one youtube video about castlevania 2 and it just happened to get way more popular than all the stuff he really wanted to do so he just went with it for our entertainment.

You know they’ve made a tv show starring Shatner based on a Twitter feed?

    2. Kickassia didn’t really grab me but that doesn’t mean this will have the same success level.

I don’t think James’ budget will be much bigger.

    3. cinemassacre has lots of other great stuff.
Yeah, but AVGN is his big deal and he’s the star of it. If James says he’s taking on too much and all that then maybe he should be a producer for his other stuff and let his friends run the other stuff.

    4. I would love to see a documentary with AVGN going after LJN and recovering the lost Sword Quest relics and whatnot but I doubt people would be willing to appear.

Most of these games were made in the 80′s I’m sure people have moved on from them and are allowed to talk about the games and how they were back in the day.

    @Amber

Wow, Billistic really set James off! O_O

I usually do, but he knows I’m actually trying to look out for him.

    —————————————————-

Here’s the deal guys, you’re all looking at it from the feel good for James for chasing his dreams perspective.

I’m looking at this from a James is a married man perspective. I’m assuming James is going to have kids one day (maybe his wife says she doesn’t want to, but I’ve seen many wives turn right around on that one)

Think James is going to be able to do AVGN and all the other stuff and raise a family? Probably not.

He should focus all he’s got on the golden egg, get it big, get paid on it. After that do all the fun nice to have stuff. If Spike reviews makes him cash, that’s cool. You guys think Board James is going to become a major staple in the entertainment industry? You’re crazy. It’s a cute show but it doesn’t have the kind of future AVGN COULD have.

I mean AVGN should be done right, it should have it’s own site, it should have a wiki of shitty video games, on and on. Finally this movie announcement, again a total half assing of the AVGN property. Couldn’t even dress up like the Angry Video Game Nerd for this? See those movie posters behind you aren’t game posters, another example of disconnect. A movie would have been better announced with a logo teaser.

Honestly, the way James treats AVGN and I really really get this impression of watching him talk about it, he doesn’t really like it, maybe he’s sick of it, maybe he doesn’t want to get type-cast as the AVGN, maybe he doesn’t want people to not take him seriously so he can do other projects but this site always comes off that he’s desperately trying to get out of AVGN asap and on to other stuff he likes.

I want to see James on fucking TMZ. I want to see James collaborating with Rob Zombie on some fucked up movie. I fear one day James is going to wake up, find he’s kinda old, a little tired in the knees, working for some company as a writer like IGN with a lot of good web videos to look back on. He deserves better than that and someone that has released so much and of varying things and to be so creatively charged to have it all go to shit because he was focused more on the creative “making” aspect and not on the business aspect would be a tragedy.

Do you little kids understand what I’m saying? The world runs on money. James can get all creative and put his fingers in a bunch of fun little pies, but if he doesn’t focus on his core property it’ll fade out and he’ll be sitting there drinking rolling rock going “wha happened?”

I suspected something like this was going on. If this is from 2008 then it should be from what I call the “Golden Age” of Nerd videos. I’m not saying that the new videos aren’t good, I’m saying that 2007-2008 era was when you really hit it big and made the genius works that we know you for.

Also, be sure to have some guys from That Guy With the Glasses. Or a cameo, at least. That would be awesome.

AVGN, Board James, Bull$*! Man, or, just, Mr. Rolfe,

I have been watching your videos for quite some time now, but never really posted much on your site, as much as I have wanted to.

I’m an elementary school teacher, and I have recently started my own set of videos, similar to yours, called “Teacher Feature.” I’ve only produced 3 at the rate of once a week, and with just one series, it’s a lot of time and effort. You’ve managed to put together SEVERAL series on a fairly regular basis, AND done specials for Christmas, Halloween, and SpikeTV.

Nobody, and I mean, NOBODY has the right to criticize you for anything that you have done. This is something that you clearly love to do and if you need to breathe a little to keep yourself together, please do it. You have just as much right to take time for yourself to relax. TV shows take the winter/summer season off to re-group, but you, and many other critics, keep going. THAT is nothing short of remarkable.

Filming is your passion, and it shines through in each of your videos. Don’t feel like you’re being belittled by anybody because of being unable to get the things you want to do accomplished.

My hat goes off to you sir. Keep up the great work and do what you think is best for yourself.

    @James
I just want to say thank you for the time and effort you HAVE put into the Nerd. As a family man myself, I can respect the decision to have more time for your life and your family’s life. Plus, if you spend all your time on one thing you’ll never be able to wow us with all of your other projects and ideas!

Everyone: Just think, if James spent all of his time and energy on AVGN, we wouldn’t have Board James, Monster Madness, Shit Pickle, the Bullshit series, and all his independent films!

Thank you for not only pursuing your dreams, but for sharing them with us as well. This fan is behind you 100%

  • September 23, 2010 at 4:55 pm

    @ Billistic
James wants to please his fans. You can only take James’ word on this if he decides to reply, but I think James is concerned less about money and more about getting his dream. His dream isn’t to make money, it’s to make films. He LIKES doing AVGN. He LIKES doing Board James. He LIKES doing Monster Madness. He LIKES doing movie reviews. Why should he do it just for a couple bucks? Sure, he’s famous, but I doubt he’ll have more than fifteen million views. He’s gaining a fanbase. You know, he needs fans to watch it? You say you’re looking out for him, but you’re just concerned about what YOU want. What you want is the AVGN Movie right here, right now. You ain’t gonna get it, buddy.

@james it sucks that there are so many clueless people on the internet. just ignore dick heads like billistic. i myself am a bit of a film maker and i understand how strenuous making these kind of videos is. keep up what you do best but at your own pace, in the end, the quality is worth the wait. i don’t care if i have to wait a year for an episode. there are always other things to do between episode releases.

  • avenger1340

    September 23, 2010 at 5:12 pm

    @Billistic

Seriously, dude. It must really suck for you to have no dreams to pursue anymore, huh? And since you’ve achieved all your dreams and ambitions in life and probably sleeping in a bed of money (alone… I can only assume), it must give you a cheap thrill to crush the dreams of someone who wants to achieve something more than just a portion of internet fame.

Or maybe… Just maybe… You’ve got some kind of sick Fatal Attraction to AVGN. You sit there and hope and pray for a new episode to come along to fill your life with sunshine and unicorns because you honestly believe that James does this all for you. Now that he wants to take this to the next level and mix a character he’s created with a passion of his, you’re pissed off because you feel like he’s leaving you behind and feel entitled to try to talk him out of it with some seriously twisted logic.

Damn… If you’re married, or have a kid, or have any friends, I bet they are scared shitless to tell you they want to do more with their lives and try to do something they have always dreamed of even if the odds are against them. You might call it silly, but the rest of us call it living life and making every opportunity count even if it doesn’t pan out.

James, good luck to ya. Here’s my wallet… Take whatever you feel is fair for the price of the ticket on opening night.

  • September 23, 2010 at 5:21 pm

Heyy don’t listen to haters, man. I’m a huge fan of your work, and knew you at first from your AVGN videos, but now I like some of the other stuff I seen of yours just as much, and sometimes even better. Angry Video Game Nerd is a great way for people to discover the rest of your work, and I’d pay to see your movie in theaters, will buy the DVD, and probably will purchase any other movies you make, as will many of my friends, who are also fans. The people saying they’d prefer to see episodes are your fans, and even if they say otherwise, you KNOW if they watch your show, they’ll pay to see your movie.

As for your ambition to become a real movie maker I say GO FOR IT! Life is too short! Chase the dream! You got the skills and potential…it will be a sad day for me (and for many others) when the AVGN videos stop…but nothng lasts forever! Go for it man! You’ll regret it if you don’t…believe me i know!

    September 23, 2010 at 5:28 pm

    @gamerdude122

James can have his cake and eat it too.

I’m saying his timing is bad. I’m not saying an AVGN movie is a bad idea, It’s a good idea but maybe not right now. Did he say the script was written 2 years ago? Will it have relevant humor by the time he even gets around to shooting it? How many rewrites are there going to be before it gets shot and on and on and on, this could happen in a couple of years. but I’m saying he should save the movie idea. Take the time he took to shoot this (this may have taken a couple of takes for all we know) to build a site for AVGN, get the media kit going with the shit get on a network (Where the fuck is Spike at least?) then after the first year of the TV show bam come out with the movie, get some producers interested in it, get some money behind it, worldwide release, skip blu-ray format war is dead man, dead! Then have all that holly-wood cash, James’ wife is living it up like Rhianna, then James rolls out of bed, grabs an HD Camera and starts filming Board James – Shit you can’t afford addition, check it out Y’all I got a pool table made of marble yoooo! Check out my bathroom yo! It can fit 10 people and look here! That’s right motherfucker a plasma in the shower and a waterproof wireless XBox 3 controller playing GTA 8 BITCHES!!!!

Or James can make an indie film. Makes him a bit of money on some DVD’s, no one is really using dvd at this point. Also by this time a guy started a show called “Mad Game Geek” which covers both video games and board games in the same show and it’s more like Jackass where the guy merely wipes his ass with the game, straight up. This also ends up breeding “Retarded Game Retard” who doesn’t even review games and just smears himself with NES cartridges and shit. James wants to sue, but he only made a bit of money on the movie and now with the kids on the way he’ll have to get a job at some IT company who’s boss will make him dress up every day in the AVGN uniform to greet customers as he shoots the computer with air dusters, inhaling cancerous fumes day in and day out and by the time James’ son is 5 and James has developed a mutated form of mesothelioma from breathing in fumes of coffee, Pentium chip heat plaque and air duster.

What do you want for James?

  • GoldRoger

Just lemme say this: you have the advantage of already being well known, and that is a huge step forward. Everywhere you go there will be people supporting you, because they know who you are and they know you kick ass.

I guess he doesn’t produce anything but keeps complaining about James not doing enough Avgn videos. Just check youtube…. there is like 1000 Avgn clones by now, that should satisfy your need.

Anyway…… I come to this website every day for more than 3 years now and I really like every video James post or make because I’m the same age and grown up with the same stuff….. nostalgia of the 80s is the best….. looking foward that Movie in the future ! :)

  • September 23, 2010 at 5:36 pm

No idea when you will be to the point for needing help but being in Reno NV I’m not sure how much help I could be. I mean the most I can think of is possibly going to the theater conglomeration offices in town and asking them about policies procedures and prices for getting independent films a run there.

I mean if you can’t get a studio to take it why not go the true grass roots method and just have people ask and see what is needed to set it up old school. Like movie houses use to do before they could promote things with a single phone call.

    - Yeah, I try to help other people, makes life worth livin’ ya know?

And since you’ve achieved all your dreams and ambitions in life and probably sleeping in a bed of money (alone… I can only assume),

    - Nope, I got chicks who come by from time to time.

it must give you a cheap thrill to crush the dreams of someone who wants to achieve something more than just a portion of internet fame.

    - I believe I’ve been saying the whole time he should become bigger than internet famous. Ideally I’d like to see James making a cameo on Big Bang Theory next year. I believe he should ride his best bet until he can get money and clout to do his dreams justice.

Or maybe… Just maybe… You’ve got some kind of sick Fatal Attraction to AVGN. You sit there and hope and pray for a new episode to come along to fill your life with sunshine and unicorns because you honestly believe that James does this all for you.

    - Yeah, RSS feeds have really made my life easier!

Now that he wants to take this to the next level and mix a character he’s created with a passion of his, you’re pissed off because you feel like he’s leaving you behind and feel entitled to try to talk him out of it with some seriously twisted logic.

    - No, I want him to leave us behind. He should be too big and famous and busy to be replying on his own site. Drinking that Crystal, smoking a fatty.

    - Yeah, most of those people wait until their kids are 18 to take any chances. When you have kids you should play it safe.

James, good luck to ya. Here’s my wallet… Take whatever you feel is fair for the price of the ticket on opening night.

    - I’d pay for a torrent.

*Stairs at the awesome announcement, followed by staring at the screen for ten minutes.*

    Me “HOOOOLLLLY SHIT!!!!”

I personally won’t bug you about it, nor will I try to over-hype it, but I do wanna get the word out. (And speculate about which review is in it.) But I’ll try not to bug you.

Ya know, I actually was writing a script about the Angry Video Game Nerd in my free time myself. I personally think mine is real good, but yours is probably 100 times better, and it’s a script that for so many reasons probably would not happen. Just to complicated and expensive, more of fan fiction in the form of screenplay.

Anyways, I am so freaking looking forward to this film. I know it’s not gonna come out this or the next year, but hell I’m looking forward to the 2012 Godzilla movie coming out! Good luck, and may The Theory of Awesome guide you through this epic quest. (Don’t ask, I’m not quite sure what is is either.)

  • September 23, 2010 at 5:43 pm

I can’t wait to see the final product. Two years will be a well worth it wait. A lot of people are complaining and saying that making a feature about AVGN is a shallow idea compared to a feature that would appeal to a wider audience. Granted, James could’ve made a feature about a horror or any other genre for that matter and it would’ve been equally spectacular, but lets not jump the gun and pretend James doesn’t know what he’s doing. He wouldn’t be making a feature about the AVGN if he didn’t think it would transcend the series, step out of the box and be as good as any other idea.

I’ve never seen any other single person pump out so much FREE and GOOD content at such a incredible pace. His work speaks for itself. There’s great things coming for James.

He’s got this by the ass.

PS: I can’t wait for Monster Madness!

Awesome James! Its great to hear you are trying to use your AVGN character to push your movie career and passion all into one. Its a great platform to get everything rolling! Keep it up.

P.S. (I hope its not the story line from action 52, where you get sucked into a game) J.K.

It’s fine James, I think most reasonable people understand that you’ll need time for this, if they don’t, well too bad for them.
I personally will never forget you, even if you don’t post any new avgn for a year or more and I will always keep visiting your website for updates.
I think you should really do what you feel like doing, your passion will come out of your work as always.
I appreciate your hard work an I thank you deeply for all the good times you gave me and for the ones to come.
A distant but big fan of you.

    @ James
After watching your post I’m stoked for the movie. It’s two years worth waiting for.

As for people like Billistic, he’s not worth it. All the greatest filmmakers have to deal with doubters like him but they never let that get to them. Don’t let him or anyone stop you from doing what you want with your career. And don’t listen to his pleas for you to leave us and turn into a “bigger celebrity”.
One of the reasons we love you is that you keep us in mind unlike most celebrities who care only about money and fame and having bigger houses than their extended families would ever need.

Keep being yourself James and thank you for entertaining us

-Would you buy this movie for $14.95?
    -Yeah, hell yeah, man.
-If I can find 3,000 people like you across this country, man, I’m in business.

I give you my full support Mr. Rolfe but i bring you a word of warning, if this movie is inaddicuate and you sacrifice two years worth AVGN videos to make it, you will risk loosing most if not your entire fan-base. Good luck.

Have to admit I was a little unsure about the idea of an AVGN movie, but after being reminded of the Wayne’s World analogy, I have to admit I have a little more confidence. Also, watching the “Crazy Castle” reminded me of what you’re capable of.

  • bick.benedict

    September 23, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Billistic is just being a realist. I don’t think he meant to incite this huge argument on here and prompt James to reply. I agree with Billistic: (1) it seems like James doesn’t like his AVGN persona that much (and I don’t blame him; I’d get tired of it too; I mean, the novelty wore off a long time ago but it’s still funny to watch anyway), and (2) yeah, the world runs on money, so keep on milking that proverbial cash cow. I’m the same age as James, but he seems to be on the right track. Bottom line: James, do whatever the fuck you want to; it’s your life and you’re extremely talented to do whatever you want.

@Billistic you’re ghey, most likely a shane dawson fanboy or something of that nature. Get a life if you’re going to insult people on their own website. apparently if that’s all you have to do, then you’re not worth me saying anything further.

    September 23, 2010 at 7:20 pm

The world is full of people doing things for money, looking to get rich, or have a nice stable life. Forget that, all the most interesting people in history followed their dreams. And that’s just what James ought to be doing if that’s what he wants. I know when I die, no amount of money will make it easier, but if I’ve lived my life doing things my way, I think I could die happy.

Can you point out how I insulted James?

  • September 23, 2010 at 7:30 pm

You gave us the nerd, I can totally believe you can succeed in this movie. Fans trust their idols in their decisions, and this is your dream. You’re a filmmaker, not a lame producer.

About the haters, well, get used to, there will always be some. Maybe is envy, I don’t know, and I shouldn’t even being telling you this, you certainly know that, and how to deal with it, being a professional as you are. But is delightful to see my fellow fans fighting for your vision along you.

Real fans trust you, and if your doubt were if you’d gonna have our support, don’t doubt anymore.

  • September 23, 2010 at 7:37 pm

As much as I would miss The AVGN … PUT EVERYTHING ON HOLD AND FINISH THE MOVIES! I look forward to seeing some quality movies that get all the attention they need, as opposed to videos being rushed to meet our petty demands. (The rushed videos are still awesome I might add!) If the Almighty Creator takes some time off, these movies can be aged to perfection!

I’m looking forward to this movie and I’ll shell out whatever money to purchase it but I’d love to see it in theaters. I have all your AVGN DVD’s to date and I’ll continue to buy. I’m overdue to donate. I love your work, not just AVGN but Cinemassacre as a whole. Take your time, I can only imagine the workload you must have, constant projects and not to mention family and work in general.

    Hey James.

I just wanted to stop in and say that I’m really excited to hear this news. Love the character, and I believe that the Nerd will easily translate to a feature film.
I, too, am an aspiring filmmaker. I’m going to be starting on a project very soon. Old-school slasher flick. I’m gonna try to get back to the roots of what made slasher flicks good. Who knows, maybe our movies will one day be playing in the same theater.

Keep up the great work man, and best of luck in the future!

    James (Great name, right?)

Make movies man! Make us laugh!

  • melvman24

    September 23, 2010 at 8:34 pm

@Billistic How did you insult James, hmm…let me think.

1 You attempted to crush a guys dream, which apparently didn’t work, and proved quite clearly that you are just here to bash people.

2 telling someone what to do, because james can do whatever he wants and isn’t here just for you, he’s here for everyone.

3 being a fail troll, as well as insulting one of his friend’s works (TGWTG)

4 insulting a great movie (waynes World) by stating his film would be “waynes world with zero budget.” Money doesn’t matter with a movie, as long as it’s good, which this one will be because james always makes good content. waynes world, as well as Jame’s films are good content.

5 getting your facts wrong and providing crappy advice. a documentary about crappy games would probably be boring, the developers probably wouldn’t take james very kindly to being asked “how did you get to making crappy games” and LJN will never apologize because they were just doing their jobs, and were probably just in it for the money anyway.

  • September 23, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Awesome man! Looking forward to it.

I’m also right in New Jersey, so if you’re shooting in Philly or NJ and ever need a person walking in the background pointing at a tree or whatever, shoot me up. (All I’d need is head’s up 2 weeks in advance and I can schedule some time off my job.)

    September 23, 2010 at 8:50 pm

james, what do you think about an avgn paypal fund. every nerd fan will invest 5 $ in that movie. how much fans do you have world wide? let’s say 200,000 x 5 $. that would be 1mio $, a budget like ‘hard candy’. let’s combine that fund with a lottery. the winner gets 10,000$. uwe boll financed a movie like that, but don’t let him direct your movie, maybe joe dante would be interested :P but i’m sure there a lot of talented filmmakers in the us, who would help you making a pro-looking movie like saw, etc.

so, make a poll about that on cinemassacre.com.

    September 23, 2010 at 8:57 pm

I realy REALY need to say it!

    @Billistic
ARE YOU CRAZY!? LIKE SHITTY CRAZY?!
wait wait wait….we already know the answers

What kind of fan do YOU think u are?! support him? saying things that YOU thinks is the right choice for him!?! HE’s chose what the hell he wants to, and you know why, cos IS HIS LIFE AND NOT YOURS!!!! Wake up man, ur supposed “sincerity” is more limited than your miserable life, your support is nothing more than selfishness…thinking about it i am GLaD that you are exactly that way, make me fell a better human
    —————————————————————————————————-
    @James
Always will have egocentric/selfish guys like that one, they dont understand life, they even don’t know what they realy are, saying what the best for others (huge mistake!!!) no one can do that.

Have noted, always will be fans that go truly support you, in the right way

And geez what a shock! a movie! avgn’s movie, that is awesome!!!!!! i wasn’t expect that, what a freaking suprise!

Haha, I just left a comment a few days ago saying that I can’t wait to see a full-length movie from Rolfe. Of course, as with many people, my intro to Cinemassacre was AVGN, but upon visiting the actually site, I became absolutely hooked to his other work. I’ve especially liked his short horror films. Can’t wait to see this movie; If there’s anything I’ve learned about this guy it’s that his work is only getting more entertaining.

Keep up the good work, James. Great to hear that you have big dreams for yourself. Hold on the them and don’t listen to the haters. Some people just don’t know that they want out of life and try to fill the void by bringing others down, but what matters is that YOU know what YOU want.

    Best of luck!

Good for you, James; make that movie! As for me, I’ve always wondered what kind of world the Nerd lives in – with Bugs Bunny, SMDC 2000 B.C 4.0 Beta, and Jason among others rolling around. I don’t think you’d ever need an economics professor, but if you do, count me in.

huhn….wonder if it’ll get censored, toned down, or other shit like that xP

I’d be more than happy to help, but I don’t think I actually WOULD be able to help. I can play bad games and point out flaws, hell, I’ve played and beaten a couple of games you reviewed like Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and BTTF, but its better off for the REAL nerd to do that. I could do flash movie add-ons, but why the fuck would a theatre movie have that? I’ve wanted to do films, but I’m just so bad at doing what you have to do to make them. Not to mention someone recommended for me to do CGI, which you don’t like much and I’m sure you don’t want in the movie unless it was done right. XP

  • September 23, 2010 at 9:41 pm

Hey James. I’ve reading all the bullshit that Billistic has been saying to you. I can’t believe the garbage coming out of his mouth. Man, I am usually not a violent person but I am almost committed to finding this douche bag and giving him a savage beating for disrespecting you so harshly, calling you a Wayne’s World wannabe, telling you to give up on all your projects and just focus on AVGN. What a fucking ass hole!

Anyways, I didn’t realize you weren’t giving much time to the wife. FYI, don’t do that! That’s a sure fire way to end up getting a divorce. I and all your true fans sure as hell don’t want to see that happen to ya, James. Spend time with your wife. Let her know she means everything to you and that you need her. Trust me on this, it’s better for you and her if you do give her more attention than you have been,.

I understand that all you ever wanted to do with your life was become a successful movie maker, but don’t let your career get in the way of your personal life. It really isn’t worth it. I hope you’re wife is extremely understanding and gives you all the encouragement you need in the world. You shouldn’t be losing sleep or hardly eating either. That most definitely is not healthy.

Sorry for all this advise, I just hate to see you getting shit on for the work you do and wind up having to defend yourself to no talent critics like Billistic. Maybe you should think about re-designing you website again and permanently removing all the comment sections here on your Cinemassacre sight so you don’t have to listen to all this crap that is stressing you out.

Well enough of my ranting here. Good luck with the AVGN movie. I hope that you end up becoming a great success in both your professional, and even more important, your personal life.

  • Billistic

    September 23, 2010 at 9:42 pm

@melvman24 How did you insult James, hmm…let me think.
1 You attempted to crush a guys dream, which apparently didn’t work, and proved quite clearly that you are just here to bash people.
    - Nope, he should do a movie, but he should get his career in high gear first. Then do the AVGN movie when he has the budget.
2 telling someone what to do, because james can do whatever he wants and isn’t here just for you, he’s here for everyone.
It’s called a suggestion an opinion, James allows us to comment on here therefore I’ll comment.
3 being a fail troll, as well as insulting one of his friend’s works (TGWTG)
Fail troll is your opinion and insulting James’ friend (I assume you mean The Nostalgia Critic) isn’t james so I’m not actually insulting James there either.
4 insulting a great movie (waynes World) by stating his film would be “waynes world with zero budget.” Money doesn’t matter with a movie, as long as it’s good, which this one will be because james always makes good content. waynes world, as well as Jame’s films are good content.
How is that insulting Wayne’s World? He said in the video himself it’ll be kind of like Wayne’s World and I don’t think James’ budget will be very good.
Money does matter with a movie. Do you think Iron Man 2 would’ve been awesome if James did it with his budget and Mike trying to pull off a good Gwen Paltrow do you think it would’ve been in a lot of theatres? Do you think it would’ve been successful? Think it woulda made a lot of money? Probably not dude. Money allows filmmakers to do justice to their material.
If AVGN has the same budget as Wayne’s World had which was: $20,000,000 (we’ll take it down to $10,000,000 and assume James and the crew will take a pay cut, but then adjust for inflation so we’ll say $13,000,000.
If James had $13,000,000 to do an AVGN movie how awesome would that movie be? Real effects, real lighting, James on the big screen.
James should actually start a fund for this, try to get some production money together from the fans. To me this movie he speaks of would probably be similar to the video he made where he visited the concrete dinosaur. That level of quality and if only worked out to be 45 mins I’d be more inclined to call it a “Special” rather than a “Movie” and save the title “Movie” for when AVGN makes it big time.
Basically, if it’s a movie movie I’d want to see James jumping from a real explosion (pyrotechnics) rather than something he made in Final Cut with a green screen and stock footage of an explosion.
I’m sure he’d ask the questions more tastefully, he could ask stuff like what was the environment like, did they have a mean boss, etc. What are you 12?

    - James, I feel bad you put these videos up but no one seems to pay attention to them.

I never called him a Wayne’s World wannabe, he says himself the movie will be like Waynes’ World. (3:25 Mark)

God damn, you kids can’t pay attention can you?

This is potentially the happiest day of my life. I would watch a avgn movie in theatres at least 10 times and on dvd at least one hundred. i’m only 13 but james is my hero and idol and to see him in theatres or on my tv would doing something he loves in a feature length film… i think i’d cry. i could honestly wait up to 2 years of no videos just to see this film. james i give you my props for doing this and all the luck i can give. GO JAMES! :)

@Billistic: Brat? You’re the one bitching and whining like the loser you are about how James is pathetic for wanting to make an AVGN movie. So how about getting of James’ back and shutting the fuck up for once in your life.

  • September 23, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Sweetness. I can’t even imagine the fans out there how they dress, how they act, and what they do (Besides that cheesy Texas C.M. #1 fan.), but I know lots of people will never get off their computer again until you release this.

I know youdon’t want to divulge any info on the script to not spoil anything but are we going to see you mayb use any one liners from you favorite movies or lik what kind of nods will we see to them, like will you have some kind of godzilla refrence or something. My other two questions are will you try and get some celeb cameos and what type of movie will it be will it be alot like the other nerd stuff where it’s just comedy or will you try adding some drama, action or some other genres in it.

This is really awesome news. In all of your films I get the sense that the AVGN is sort of disillusioned about the real world and takes out his anger on the games he plays.

If that’s the angle you’re going with this, or something like that, brilliant. If not I’m truly interested in what else it could be. Best of luck with whatever it turns out to be.

@Henrik ”One of the most inspiring things in the world i s to see an artist that really loves what he or she is doing.

Few things could inspire a dude that much ”

Man, you could not have said it better. Those are exactly my words right now!

Just for the record, I first became a fan of AVGN..then a few months later I became a fan of JAMES and CINEMASSACRE. Finally, I can’t wait to see the final product and congratulations once again!

It’s funny how he has to talk to us like we’re children in anticipation for Christmas and we have to be told to go to bed. He knows everyone expects him to exist for their own satisfaction so the tone is necessary. Poor guy.

Anyway, this sounds pretty cool. Hopefully James can quit his day job and be a director for a living. I don’t know what he does for a living, but it’s kinda surprising that he isn’t doing film for a living considering his immense popularity and that entertainment is a who-you-know business. Best of luck to you James and hopefully the movie makes your life ambitions come to pass.

Man Billistic, Your being like a chicken nugget at Mc Donalds that nobody expected to get. ….You know…. the Fried Chicken head? James’s response to you is right though, Remember the Action 52 Review? It purefectly Examplifies why its better to wait a bit longer between episodes. Otherwise it just sucks. besides… theres 90 something videos up atm. theres PLEANTY of episodes to watch again untill the next video comes out.

    - I just thought of something, If this movie hits big, and a video game Based off of it comes out… Wouldent it be like some kinda sureal paradox of reviewing your own game?……naw Maybe Iam thinking too much about it. I did hear on Screw Attack that someone actually made a Working game for the NES LAST YEAR! – they say its hard.

Hi James, I’ve got some questions about AVGN The Movie. If you can answer, please do.

    1. You said that there will be one review. Will the whole plot be about this game and reviewing it, or it’s just a bonus thrown in?
    2. Will there be any cameo appearances from other net celebrites (like Nostalgia Critic for example)?
    3. Any heavy special effects planned or it will be raw?
    4. Will this movie end AVGN as a character (i. e. you won’t make any more game reviews)?
    5. Do you know how long (approximately) will this movie be?
    6. Do you expect to earn some decent cash from this project, or you make it mostly because directing movies is your hobby?
    7. Will the vulgarity be toned down because it’s planned to be airing in theatres?
    8. Any violence?
    9. Is ET the game being reviewed? :P

Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work man. You rule the interwebz.

  • September 24, 2010 at 2:59 am

The AVGN Movie needs some money invested in it. I’ve been waiting for something like this from James since I first saw the original Friday/Nightmare AVGN Halloween double feature (The best internet media ever conceived. Period.)

As far as help goes, if your making a list for future reference of fans with skills to assist you I happen to be in a band with a very talented audio engineer with all the professional gear (Pro Tools HD rig capable of 7.1 mixes and a 128 channels i believe, Top of the line rack gear, ect.) with his engineering skill and my knowledge and love for both films and AVGN this could seriously be a cost effective way to achieve highly professional audio. Keep it in mind, couldn’t hurt.

Another night at work passes and I come home to cinemassacre.com….Nothing new to the site today, besides a ton of comments relating to the “buzz” of the movie. 300 some odd comments later and all I have to say is forget the hate, the movie will be golden. With your following it is already certified. Everything you make is excellent so forget the naysayers, and comment makers. Do your thing and take your time. Don’t rush anything. One of the best things to this site is the time between AVGN episodes when we get other little shorts, interviews, and reviews. Most of your fans truly appreciate anything you do because it taps into our youth and generation……..PS 1 week till Monster Madness!

I’m fucking psyched about this whole deal, though I know it’s gonna take a very long time before it’ll be finished.

For those people who don’t think James can do a good movie on a small budget, I can only encourage you to see The Deader The Better. Yeah, I know it’s only 17 minutes long, but it’s still massively awesome and James’ film making skills undoubtedly have improved since then :)

@Billistic – I get what you’re saying, but I don’t get the point. Why would you want the nerd on tv?? That would make him lose his artistic freedom and creativity, and if he didn’t make money on his various projects, he’d probably not be doing them (at least not as many as he has).

@James – You keep on doing what you do best. I probably won’t be able to offer any assistance to the AVGN movie (at least not when it comes to appearing physically as I live in Denmark), but my buddy and I are starting up a band and if you need any music, just let us know.

Our first song can be heard here: http://www.blip.tv/file/4142146/ (yeah, we need to find a proper singer :P)

I honestly just think this is the natural progression of the Nerd. Look at the videos in order, and you’ll see how much they’ve changed over the years, and how, even in those old videos, James’ desire to be a filmmaker, and not some video game reviewer, shines through. James can’t be the AVGN forever. Christ, he doesn’t even look the same as he did back then. I’ll be sad to see AVGN end some day, but look forward to the feature-length movie, and any remaining episodes that James decides to make, even if they are few and far between.

  • Koga

    September 24, 2010 at 8:13 am

I actually wondered around 2008 if there were any plans for a Movie & kept thinking, what could it be? A series of reviews, some mixture of the life of the Nerd. Would there be cameos from AVGN characters, &/or or other reviewers, well, guess time will tell.

    @Billistic

    Seriously, go fuck yourself.

You quite obviously have no idea about what this site is about, what the AVGN is about, what James is about, and the processes and excruciating toll this takes on a person to accomplish this amount of work in such a limited time. I can’t even believe James responded to you. It clearly struck a nerve because he works his ass off and people like you just bitch and whine about your own selfish bullshit. Then you go on rants about how you feel the shit on this site should be. Fuck you. This isn’t your shit. Show some god damn respect or GO THE FUCK ON.

James, don’t even respond to shit like this. It’s not worth stressing out about. These people will never be happy or content with anything so they are just going to bitch and moan for the fuck of it. Keep doing what you are doing and most importantly do what makes you happy. This is your shit.

  • Ben_from_G-town

    September 24, 2010 at 11:30 am

Wow, just wow… I mean, what to say here? We knew you had always dreamed of making a feature film someday but who would have thought your first one would be about the AVGN, or that there would ever be an AVGN movie!

We wish you all the best of luck and will support you in any way we are feasibly able, James!

I mean, I had always assumed you’d make a horror movie first, as I had really enjoyed the Head Case movie and the one about the… what was it? Shitty movie? It Came From The Toilet? :D That was fun too, and Cinemassacre 200 was immensely informative, entertaining and touching.

I’ve followed you since a friend recommended me to look up the Angry Nintendo Nerd and I enjoy a great deal of your work, from Board James, to the animated works, interviews, and other reviews… this is one of my favorite sites. I didn’t think it could get much better than when you finally reviewed things my friends and I hoped for like Ninja Gaiden and Zelda 2, but this…. THIS…

I know it will probably be a few years but damn, you just had to drop this teaser announcement and now we can’t wait! I had the idea it might be similar to Beavis and Butt-head do America, Wayne’s World movie, or Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, where you start off with the world we know the character(s) in and then flesh out the rest…. it should be awesome. :)

Oh, and I hope you or someone addresses that list of questions another user put up. Their username escapes me at the moment, but I am curious about that stuff as well. ;)

  • TheInternet

    September 24, 2010 at 11:39 am

No, I think Billistic deserves a response. While his idea of 2 episodes a week is pretty demanding, he has 2 good points. One I’d would like to address:

Why is this movie idea focusing on the AVGN character?

AVGN is great and all, but let’s be honest here: The character itself is pretty shallow. The character was really just a way to present a review and has been for all the reviews up to now. There’s not much depth to the character to build on for a movie. Not to mention, Billistic is right about another thing: AVGN plays to a very niche market. To have a movie focusing on the character rather than say the idea of bad video games itself is a pretty narrow concept that I don’t think most people will see and understand.

Also, James, I’m sorry but comedy is not your forté. You can be funny at times, but the reasons I tune in to you specifically over other people is because you’re so informative, and learning something about an old game that I didn’t know is pretty entertaining for me. Being informative and knowledgeable is your forté, and thus Billistic’s idea of documentary would have played to your strengths much, much better.

Wayne’s World was different in this regard. Wayne’s World was a popular SNL sketch made by some famously whimsical comedians. A comedy movie based around those characters worked because people tuned into to Wayne’s World for the comedy.

I’m sorry, but I have to side with Billistic on a few of his points; a comedy movie based on the AVGN character won’t turn out to well I think.

Also: @Browncoat: Maybe you shouldn’t defend your favorite reviewers so vehemently. It’s okay if you like something that’s a bit lame. That doesn’t make you any less of a person. Also, it’s okay to criticize people from time to time, but you better have a good point instead of a weak stance backed up by a explicit cussing.

Billistic had a few good points in his post. Yours had none.

  • Heep

    September 24, 2010 at 11:53 am

If you my advice, which I’m pretty sure you don’t, if this is a theatrical movie, try to put the name of the game in the title. For example-
The angry video game nerd vs. E.T. the video game.
The main reason is (even if it has nothing to do with E.T.) that gamers who have never heard of you (the sad people as I call them) will instantly see this as a movie for gamers and will flock to the theaters. Okay maybie not flock but this will definantly be a cult film. Actually it might be better if you show it at a film festivle first.

  • September 24, 2010 at 12:34 pm

    @ TheInternet
With Rocky, there was no character before that. The first movie was Rocky. He didn’t have a show before that. They had no previous character to build on. look at how well that did. I think the movie will actually work. James can give the Nerd some character, with or without criticism.

@ Billistic, browncoat, TheInternet, and everyone else who replied to Billistic’s post (myself included)

I say we shut the fuck up about the topic and rather let people who want to encourage James on his everlasting journey to his dream (that sounded a bit mystical). No more thoughts about what YOU want James to do. He built a script with Kevin. If the AVGN episodes are any indication, they can write a smart script. It may not ALL be comedy, but these bastards know writing, not Billistic, not browncoat, and not TheInternet (I’ve actually written a novel and a fairly good one at that along with a lot of game reviews). I’m sticking with what James wants to do, and so should everyone else.

    @ browncoat
I was not mad at you, but I think we should all leave the topic well alone.

Don’t listen to people like Ballistic, James. We all know how much time and effort you put into everything you do.

James, do whatever you want to do. Don’t worry about how much “success” and “fame” this film will make; that’s not what filmmaking is about (well, maybe it is to people like Michael Bay and Speilburg/Lucas ;P). Make it because it’s what you love doing. Even if it doesn’t make it into theaters, who cares? I doubt you do, so why should anyone else?

Seriously, people. Let James do what he wants. I assume he’s making this film for himself (what with filmmaking being his passion and all) just as much as he’s making it for us, so leave the poor bastard alone.

I, for one, can’t freakin’ WAIT for this epic event. God speed, James, God speed :D.

Hi James, don`t worry of overhyping. I can`t speak for everyone but hey I can wait and I am looking forward to the movie some day in the future. Wouldn`t 2015 be nice? Just kidding but I am really happy about this announcement. We all could see what you`ve done so far and hey it was good! And of course it was also work, so I can understand why you now make 1 Review a month, it`s totally fine with me.
Keep up the good work, while we hold the movie in mind (and tell everyone about it). I cross my fingers for you ;)

  • brokeheart

    September 24, 2010 at 1:07 pm

The main reason I think this movie will work is for 2 reasons-

    1. It might be a little like scott pilgrim only he will be engulfed in real videogames instead of just having a score pop up randomly. A good video game movie has never been done perfectly (scott pilgrum is more of a comic book movie) but it will be nice to have a movie with tons of references to anti-iconic games.

    2. After watching all the nerd videos I can easily say that james is a guy who knows how to improve. The early episodes (I’m talking more about his performance) were good for online videos (again, performance wise) but as time went on and he got more comfortable with doing this and was more relaxed with his writing (by that I mean he knew exactly what he wanted to do instead of just randomly cursing… not that there is anything wrong with that) his performance overall got better and, I gotta say, he is probablly the best narrator I’ve ever heard who isn’t uber famous.

I know I have been making a lot of comments but while my anal waste is making me rocket through my roof my fanboy side just needs to express how excited I am but I can’t do that properly without seeming like a dick so all these comments will just have to do.

Good luck James. I’ll be watching you.

  • September 24, 2010 at 1:14 pm

    Wow, just…wow.
I wouldn’t have expected that, even though – now that I think about it- it does make sense.
It’d be awsome if you would be able to bring this to the movietheatres, awsome for you and all the fans. (But then it’d porbably be dubbed in other countrys, and as much as I support this, I just can’t imagin how it would be if I were to watch it in German oO Probably strange XD)
Anyway: i wish you good luck with all your plans and I am definately looking forward to the day you announce that this can be watched now. =D

    @TheInternet

And the 2 episodes a week was actually a mistake, I meant month. I made a follow up reply to James that no one seems to have read.

I agree with you about the AVGN character being somewhat shallow. James sometimes relies on taking quotes from American Movie and passing them off as what would be humor and they aren’t that funny. I’m afraid the movie would be a lot of that.

  • slmrcs

    September 24, 2010 at 2:14 pm

AVGN movie sounds awesome. I just discoved AVGN this about a month ago and have since watched all of them, so I think they are very entertaining.

People shouldn’t complain about character depth. There are basically two types of movies:

    1) Drama (most other movie types are sub-genre’s of drama). Drama is character driven. All the effects and even to a large degree the story, depends on the characters they are attached to. Even in horror, alien is such a classic because of the characters that are so less developed in most slasher films.

    2) Comedy. In comedy the goal is to be funny. Plot and characterization only need be sufficient enough to carry the comedy. Great comedies like spaceballs, blazing saddles, national lampoons vacation (original) did not have strong characters or plot, but they were sufficient. The best study of this is looking at the Marx brothers.

Billistic, you are fucking retard with psychological problems. TMZ, wiki about shitty games, TV show… Are you a complete idiot? That garbage won’t sell a shit.
You accuse everyone of being kid. Have some maturity problems? You don’t talk like a mature man, you talk like a little 15 years old whore thinking he got any idea about money and “what to do in the life”.
I suspect though you can be some stinky 40 years old loser with his mind out of his brain.

Shut the fuck up already, your stupid long posts are meaningless garbage. Bad for you they are the biggest thing you will ever achieve in your life.

    September 24, 2010 at 3:12 pm

@Billistic You’re giving you’re opinion. sounds more like you’re giving him a command.

and a lot of money doesn’t necessarly mean a good movie. the way james makes his movies, it really doesn’t cost as much as you think. he just gets all the games he may review early.

and I did watch his video, he said it would be like Waynes World. from the comment you sent, it sounded like you hated the movie.

and do you honestly think people don’t get offended by someone insulting a friend of theirs. if you insulted any of mine, I’d tear your head off.

The movie would bring in many fans, and would make many more, so I don’t see a problem with making it whenever he wants.

  • Steven Cantley

    September 24, 2010 at 3:27 pm

@billistic and while I’m at it, I’d like to point out to you that you sound like a hypocrite. You’re on James site, yet you talk back to everything said at you.

You apparently don’t like the nerd character, or any of the effects, so why are you even here.,

also, You comment saying he should use pyrotechnics, but its not like he hasn’t made his own effects. have you watched any of his commentary? in ” The Deader the Better” He said he made the graveyard HIMSELF. most likelym the camera in cinemaphobia was moved without digital Special effects as well.

I’m an aspiring film maker, as well as an aspiring video game designer, so I know what I’m talking about when I say that money might be a part in making movies, but its not the biggest.

and if James did this for money, then subscribing to his site would cost money, He isn’t making this film for money, he’s making this because it is his life’s dream, and that is something worth respecting.

    I’m 17 BTW, not 12

  • Boaster

    September 24, 2010 at 3:31 pm

One thing you get before you make a full feature film is a sound guy. Seriously, the sound levels on ALL of your movies has been less than -15 dB. I have to turn my stereo up all the way to hear what you’re talking about. Then after I watch your video, if I go to watch some porno or listen to some music it blasts through out the house. Not that I’ve done that, but still.

Do I need to make a video demonstration?

  • Steven Cantley

    September 24, 2010 at 3:39 pm

@James I love all your videos, and I gotta say, they are amazing. I may not be the brightest person in the comments section, but I can tell you one thing, You’re going places that this world hasn’t even see yet.

Mr Rolfe, I can say without a doubt in my mind that this movie will be a success, whether it be in theaters or not, and whether it be with AVGN and movie buff fans.

and if it makes you feel any better with idiot doubters like NoBallsistic, I’ve made a special little mocking/rant sketch about him. The moment I saw his first comment on here, It set me off. all of your fans, friends, and family, including myself, are behind you when this is released. You never disappoint, and I gotta say, I doubt you will now.

    Best wishes,

I expect a lot of classic movie quote in this, but i would like to see some tribute from other thing you did with cinemassacre. Imagine s.m.d.c. on big screen, it would be epic, or if we could at least hear a “cinemassacre MONSTER MASNESSS!!”

Go for it James, by making a real movie your not making one of your dream come true, but you are making the dream of all the movie fan and amateur realisator.

I wish you the best of luck James !

What camera are you planing shooting with? Personaly I find the Canon T2i to have a very cinematic feel for the cheap price.

Also, do you have plans as to what will the movie atmosphere/lighting be? I’d definately see the day scenes taking place in a hot and shiny summer, kind of like the day scenes in Waynes World / Terminator 2. As to the night scenes, I’m pretty sure you have your idea. Anyway keep up the good work !

  • TheInternet

    September 24, 2010 at 4:24 pm

    @Steven Cantley
The movie won’t bring in any new fans if it caters to the current set of fans.

And what I heard from Billistic, it sounded like he didn’t have a problem with the Wayne’s World movies or the AVGN character, he just thought that a comedy movie focusing on the AVGN character is a bad idea and I think he has a point.

Also, Steven, this criticism isn’t aimed at you, so try to calm down, okay? As you are an aspiring film maker, it troubles me that you have such a hard time with criticism that isn’t even about you. I’m afraid you’ll need a tougher skin to work in that industry.

You don’t need to suck James’ dick to be a fan, okay? :)

  • September 24, 2010 at 4:28 pm

  • Rodimus440

    September 24, 2010 at 4:39 pm

    @TheInternet

Look at all the popular crap out there, all these comedy movies with the typical fat/dumb man in it. They sell like hot cakes. I think James will do 10x better than these. Take “The Hangover” for example. It’s all about goofy situations. James didn’t have the chance to give us those situations because they are too complex for a single man in a basement to take place.

  • TheInternet

    September 24, 2010 at 4:53 pm

    @Rodimus440
Or this movie will end up like Kickassia. And even though their are theater releases that are beyond unfunny, Kickassia went beyond beyond unfunny. It’s easy to say a movie or video game sucks, it’s not so easy to make one.

  • DarkNeonRain

    September 24, 2010 at 5:07 pm

  • Steven Cantley

    September 24, 2010 at 5:20 pm

@theinternet I honestly don’t think the film will end up like that. It may not even be all comedy. it might be a mix of epicness and comedy, like swordquest.

and when did giving a compliment, giving common courtesy, praise, or anything like that become such tabuu. I wasn’t “sucking” on anything, I was just giving james my honest thoughts. there are plenty of people complimenting Mr Rolfe here, I was just showing some respect.

So NoBallsistic didn’t have anything else to say about what I said.

  • JayRam

    September 24, 2010 at 5:50 pm

If I lived anywhere near Philadelphia I would work behind the scenes on your movie for free, just for the experience. Alas, I live on the west coast. Best thing out here is just some town called Hollywood. Ever heard of it? haha. Anyway, congrats.

BTW, it seems the announcement of a AVGN movie at least 2 years in advance has caused 2 things to happen:
    1) constant griping among your fans, and
    2) the flow of vaginal juices

People are really getting worked up over this. However, I look forward to its release.

James, if its your wish is to create movies, I’m quite sure that the fans will forgive you if you hold back the nerd videos for a while, just so long as your movie makes up for it. Furthermore, if its your wish to give up the nerd videos in general in favour of movies again thats up to you, you’re the head of campus here and its your decision of what u want to be doing.

  • September 24, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Ok, any plans to revamp that script a bit? I mean the character has changed in the last 2 years.

Also, are you really sure that this character can maintain a 90min to two hour movie? SNL movies are great examples of character that don’t work for a whole movie. Blues Brother and the first Wayne’s World were good, but that is about it. Not trying to troll, but do you honestly think the AVGN will be funny for 2 hours on end?

  • September 24, 2010 at 6:42 pm

Hey James. Just saying hello today with a bit of advise from a future journalist and possible critic. Yeah, going to college and all that good stuff. And I know, what the hell? You’re 27. Too old, man, too old! Response, eat a dick and shut up! lol! Listen to your fans who are POSITIVE and RESPECTFUL. Ignore the Negative and DISRESPECTFUL assholes. I know I said some dumb shit back on your Karate Kid movie reviews, and as before I apologized for hurting your feelings. If you pay attention to all the negative people then you won’t be having any fun with what you’re doing.

And don’t be afraid to take a break every now and then to be with your wife. She needs you much more than your dreams and aspirations do. Marriage is an extremely valuable commodity. The most valuable as far as I am concerned. Don’t piss it away for fame and glory. You’ll just end up alone and miserable. I know I sound like a pain in the ass cause I’ve done said all that before, but hey I don’t just care about your work. I care about you personally too cause like it or not the personal life does affect the professional and I’d hate to see you not at your best because you ignored your personal life for your professional one. Don’t be a workaholic is the point. It’s just not worth it.

Take care James. All your real fans, like me, care about you and are proud to be seeing your works come to fruition. I really hope you get to where you want to be.

    September 24, 2010 at 7:06 pm

This is awesome news! James has never disappointed, and I’m sure he will achieve his goals! I also think the AVGN videos with Kevin Finn are some of my favorites, so I look forward to see how your creative energy will play off each other. After watching Cinemassacre’s PeeWee’s Big Adventure review, I can see how a well-loved TV character can make for an awesome movie adventure plot (even though I now realize the PeeWee movie came first).

I think with this movie, we will see how the nerd developed his anger, and why he feels so compelled to review shitty games. I hope the climax of this movie depends on the nerd beating some horribly difficult game in order to save humanity and win his love interest. Speaking of which, I hope James’ true-life love-interest finally makes an appearance.

Also I expect multiple Mike Matei villain appearances. Looking forward to seeing this in theaters, and paying full price, multiple times.

I know exactly what game your going to be reviewing in the movie… the one and only TRUE boring and crappy game for NES that requires the whole movie treatment to review…

    RENEGADE…

Just the memories of fighting endless boring “monotonous” hordes of baddies that look like you for hours on end.. So terrible! I even got that damn main song stuck in my head and literally it’s been about 18+ years since I played it as a kid (I am 26 now).

Just the fact that you can literally play this game for less than 20 seconds, shut it off, and get the full experience.

and If i remember correctly… I hated that there was no continue after one time I forced myself to attempt to sit through and play through this endless boring game! The sad part too is I remember it wasn’t “too difficult” but after 20 minutes of playing it, you started to “mess up” because your brain started to shut down and you wanted to evacuate as far away from your room and rather go outside and play with some dog sh*t more than suffer another second of this all time terrible game!

    billistic,

he isnt directly comparing it to the waynes world movie, he is simply giving an example of the structure of the movie.

i just wanted to say i cant wait to see this movie, and, while very strange, your videos helped me come over my addiction to sleeping pills. last thing i wouldve expected to help me, but it did. one thing i noticed about this newer persona, is that you discuss the history of the videogame instead of harshly critiquing it. I always saw the avgn and being the person that remembers the bad memories from long ago playing shitty games, instead of providing a retrospective monologue. im not the artist here, but maybe switch it up a little? i like both personas, but i cant remember when i last saw a video that just dissed the shit out of a game. i see this newer persona as being more of a critic, but i still love the ameteur feeling from your older videos where you had an unreasonable hate for a game for a particular reason. like someone who wanted to be a critic, but was too consumed by their past to be able to be neutral.

anyways. congrats on your success and i wish the best of luck to ya!

I’m peruavian, and well i would like yo ask you if it’s possible to make all the AVGN videos translated to a “wonderful” spanish videos. Why? it’s simple, cuz i saw there’s someone making videos in spanish, but those videos 1. they aren’t posted in youtube(only videos links) 2. they don’t have too much animation, just the translation and nothing more(no effects, no in-depth translation)… I’ll like to help you translate all your vidz if u ask, there’re a lot of fans in south america, and some that would love your videos but they don’t speak english and they don’t know about an official link of translated videos. I think if someone make those translated videos in the time you’re making the movie, u’ll receive a lot of support from latin america. that’s all! wish the best! gonaz

This was a wonderful update. It’s exciting to hear that you’ve been thinking about an AVGN movie. When it happens, I really hope it’ll be in theaters. I would gladly drag all of my friends down to watch it with me. Good luck with everything; the movie, the series, and just life in general. The sheer amount of videos you make is amazing, and almost all of them are a joy to watch. Hope things all go well.

Um, you know James is 30 now, right? If memory serves me correctly, he was born on July 10, 1980. That’s 30 years.

This Billistic guy, what an arrogant little pecker. All acting like he knows James is all about what he is thinks. Acting like he’s giving firsthand experience in business strategies and shit. He probably got beat up at GameStop for running that little cock ring on his face and decided to make himself feel a little better, by running his mouth from the safety of his computer.

I’m going to paint a quick picture of this winner: Long hair that gets moved from his eyes from the quick goth jerk, pretends to be your friend to your face but runs his mouth about you behind your back, gets beat up then calls the cops and says “That’s what you get for messin’ with me!”, has a nasty set of ganglers that need to see a dentist, and a headboard so carved up from his teeth that it will end up in the Smithsonian one day.

Quick search and I found him:

James, can you ban this guy’s IP?

  • September 25, 2010 at 1:02 am

Yes, like Wayne’s World. Just what I thought.

I really can’t wait to see it. If you ever need any free help send me an email. Anything for the movie to come out earlier!

  • September 25, 2010 at 2:57 am

I think it would be cool if the nerd goes around trying to find the last ET cartridge for ATARI to make a review about it as a plot for the movie. Anyways, I think it would be cool, I mean I would see it. There is a lot of garbage on the theaters now a days that people go see; why not go see something that has the potential to be a lot of fun, as the series are. I mean the nerd is one of those hard working individuals that put pride and a lot of effort in what he does, not like many of the so called ‘directors’ out of hollywood. I hope this come true soon, good luck, and the best of wishes.

    September 25, 2010 at 3:00 am

oh my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD, this is some seriously exciting news

if this was made and it actually got a wide theatrical release and I got to see it in theaters, it would be one of the greatest days of my life

God bless you James and best of luck!

I seriously wish you the best of luck James. Also, it would be great if the Nostalgia Critic had a cameo in the movie, or maybe he could be the primary antagonist.

  • September 25, 2010 at 11:53 am

    @ BubbleBathBabes
I hadn’t thought of that. Sweet, now I can make watching Red vs. Blue so much funnier (Guess what they use?? THE SAME SHIT!). I guess I’m gonna find some “That’s what she said” moments now. Blip, or whatever it’s called, so fucking suck it fucks. Couldn’t resist.

    @ Natonstan
Well, undoubtedly, but take away a hundred or 2 comments from arguing about what we want James to do or whatnot.

    @ Everyone
It seems everyone is complaining about James being “tamer” in the newer AVGN vids. Umm, the script is 2 years old. That means tht we find that best AVGN! The old AVGN was Angriest. The newer one is more informative, but the mid-2007-to-quarter-2010 AVGN is a hapy medium. I’m pretty happy now…

  • September 25, 2010 at 12:04 pm

@GamerDude: Yeah, I know James is 30. He’s the same age as my sister. What has that got to do with anything though?

    Dude, I cant wait!!!

    @ gamerdude122,
I see what people are saying about the “tamer” thing. But, I dunno, I kinda like the direction he is taking it. Like the Sword Quest review is one of my favorites and it wasn’t really that angry. It was such a gradual transition over the years that I really didn’t notice until you said something. But yeah, I agree with you, since its 2 years in the making there’s going to be some anger!

How awesome would it be to see a poster up at a movie theatre, promoting “AVGN: The Movie” and maybe one of those cardboard cutouts of James flipping everybody off.

James, I need to say something to you. You Literlaly CHANGED my life. When I wastched your NES firday the 13th review, I knew I had to get the NES. So I did, than i got the Genasis and the list goes on. Now I know all about old consoles and stuff. If it wasnt for you James, I would probaby not know about any of this stuff Like Night of the Living Dead or Evan where Mario Started out. Im only 13 and you changed me. Im so happy how your making a film to! I live In Canada and It would be Awesome if I could evan be an Extra in your upcoming film. Thank you sir.

Hey Good luck with the AVGN Movie, I’m totally hyped up for it, been watching your videos for years, being a kid and game/movie fan in the 80′s I can totally relate the material in all your videos. The first video I saw was your NES TMNT review, and seeing as I owned and eventually completed that game I felt the Nerds pain and have been a huge fan ever since.

Any chance of a VHS release ;)

  • September 25, 2010 at 10:31 pm

I say (this is just my opinion) after episode 100 (6 more after Nintendo day’s revisited), James and Co begin production and all other episodes of AVGN go on hold until he is satisfied with his work. However, it’s up to James and I would be incredibly happy to watch a feature length Angry Video Game Nerd with additional plot.

  • soccerkev

    September 25, 2010 at 11:22 pm

HELLO James! I am so excited about the news of your project. I’ve always enjoyed your different videos. You are a great actor and director too. It was around 2007 when I first watched the AVGN series, I think it was called ‘angry nintendo nerd’ back then, I could be mistaken, but let me tell you this: You are a genius. Please keep your wonderful work with the Nerd series whenever you can!

Also, I would love to watch your work if you aim to become a famous movie director or something, because that would be awesome, seriously. Never give up on your dream! You were born to do films!

Your movie reviews and all other videos are great too! I loved your godzillathon videos and all other monster madness ones. So all in all, I want to say ‘Congratulations! Keep up the good work, good luck, and you have all my support, like the support of the thousands of thousands that follow you everywhere, youtube, cinemassacre, screwattack, gamestrailers, etc. Do your best! ‘

Join the fucking club, kiddo. Seriously, email me. [email protected]
I seem to get along with Canadians better than my own Americans. Especially those in “French-Canada”.

    @ Harrison
Ha, I don’t think James would be cruel enough to hold off on AVGN for the movie. Chances are considerably in my favor when I say that he’ll work on AVGN Movie after Monster Madness is complete. So he’ll have more time to focus on the movie rather than AL THE OTHER SHIT he’s doing AND the movie. Basically, I’m saying AVGN Movie will take MM’s place.

    @ James & RagingThunda
Fuck that. If you need a 13 year-old extra right now, get me. I’m four states down in South Carolina (Don’t worry, I don’t have a country accent. I lack any accent at all) and probably know more about games than… MOST people on here. No offense, Raging. :-)

  • Necron99

    September 26, 2010 at 1:56 am

I see some comments saying AVGN the character is too shallow to make a movie. If you think about it that’s why we need a movie! Look at Waynes World for example, it was just a 5 minute skit that would be on SNL certain weeks and all we got to see was 2 guys goofing off in a basement. It wasn’t until the movie we got some substance to the characters. All we see of AVGN is a review of a game and that’s it. A movie would add substance, and after it’s all said and done we see the nerd’s movie it would probably make his previous videos even more enjoyable now having more depth to the character.
I’m curious as hell to see what kind of story James gave to the nerd!

  • mastamuzz

    September 26, 2010 at 3:01 am

Ok first things first where do I sign so you can get a big studio budget like Universal or MGM to make your movie?
Because I want to see it in Canada In theaters with popcorn and nachos and a huge drink on the side!
And also a link to become a fan on every stupid facebook page in the universe so the retarded people on the film industry can measure how awesome a nerd movie can be so they approve the budget and all you need!
also a request don’t do the 3D shit that comes out this days just the good old nerd will suffice!

This is really exciting, but the thing that bothers me is that you’ve been sitting on the script for so long (and will probably continue to do so for a while?). Hopefully it isn’t the sort of thing that ages poorly. After all, the AVGN review style has changed in that time. Going back and watching the older videos today is a weird experience and I wonder how the movie will be relative to that.

I fucking love that youre such a proffesional when talking into a camera. If you look at all the amateurs at youtube who clip at every sentence in their movies, then you see that there is a huuuge difference in skill. AVGN movie is gonna rock!!

Its awesome that you are making an AVGN movie, but personally i would be more excited to see a Horror Movie being directed by you James Rolfe, i mean i dont know if im saying this correctly but i think you are an expert in horror films, im saying this because of your love to horror movies, there are horror movies out there that dont have that feeling anymore, and i feel that you can bring that back. I wish you a lot of succes with the AVGN movie, im waiting for it too, but i would really love to see a horror film made by you.
    Good luck James.

james, i’m sure you r an inspiration for young directors….
in the future, there’s gonna be movie directors that will say: “i was inspired by james rolfe… aka the AVGN” …..
minds like yours are what this world needs… thanks man….

Am I understanding it correctly? Because of that move you want to abandon AVGN forever? Like after this move the Nerd will be gone? I wanted to show you to my children… when I will have them… someday… :<

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hey James. I’ve been a fan for quite some time now, I originally was introduced to the Nerd by a friend at work, the Top Gun review being my first video of yours to see. I was hooked right away. My roommate and I at the time literally sat down one afternoon with some beers and watched every review you had at that time (sometime around 2008) …. anyways, just wanted to wish you luck on your future projects and I always look forward to your updates. It’s nice to see your opinions of old board games, and movies also. I swear you were the friend I never had as a kid, but somehow you remind me of all my old pals growing up in the NES era. Keep up the good work, and Cheers to you and all that keep this page up and running!

  • September 28, 2010 at 10:46 pm

If you need to come to Australia to film the movie because a fucking boxing kangaroo steals your Sega Megadrive let me know. I will hook you up.

    September 28, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Noo James.. I mean.. Yes too.. But.. Damn.
I’m gonna miss your character as the AVGN, and just the way you do your shit.
I remember seeing one of your videos for the very first time (by accident, cause youtube apparently had some autoplayi video thing turned on without me knowing.. And thank god for that.), it was “nightmare on elmstreet”, and i was caught right away..
I looked through all of your videos, even everything else than the AVGN..
You made the nostalgia explode in my mind, and it have never felt better. …..This feels stupid, like i’m saying goodbye to someone.. Its just that your character reminds me of my childhood (to a certain point xD) ..God i could keep on going with this Bullshit point is – i’ll miss your work James, and i’ll be waiting eagerly for anything from your brain and the Nerd.. I wish you So much luck with your projects and future ones. Keep it up James.

    Greetings from Denmark

  • September 28, 2010 at 11:50 pm

    @ ildimithovede
What are you missing? He’s not leaving the character or anything, he’s said so. He’s just making a movie. I don’t know why people overreact to this kind of news. IT’S JUST A MOVIE, DAMMIT! Like, what if Steven Spielberg said, “I’m gonna make a short film,” and everyone threw a shit fit cause they thought he wouldn’t make long movies anymore. Like, what the hell??

  • Sven

    September 29, 2010 at 12:50 am

Oh my god, I am so super excited for this! It’s always been my dream to make movies but I’ve never had any equipment or editing software to do anything. But I guess it’s never too late to start anything you want to in life.

    Hey James

I’m following your show since the very beginning and all I can say now is wow, your dedication to filmography is great, indeed! Please don’t let anyone stop you in pursuing your dream, though it may seem daunting.
I’m writing this because you remember me sooo much of Peter Jackson in every way, you probably know what I mean! I would love to see “directed by James Rolfe” in the end titles of a movie one day, don’t let us (and yourself) down! Go for it.

    Godspeed

    September 29, 2010 at 3:24 pm

I will be waiting anxiously over the next few years for you to finish this, I understand that making a movie takes a lot of time, there’s TONS of stuff involved in the process. I’m not sure why people would think you’re slowing down, I’ve been loving your videos lately. They’re longer and much more in depth. Plus I kinda like the wait, keeps me excited to see what you’re going to do next.

But James, I have to say that its so great to see you have so much confidence in just about everything you do. I think that’s one of the reasons I started liking your stuff so much. You have confidence in your projects, your ability, and confidence in front of the camera, really the list goes on, but you’re aren’t arrogant like a few people out there I’ve seen. To me, it makes you more professional, and more enjoyable to watch than the rest.

James, you have a LOT of talent, and from a fellow artist, its great to know you’re being recognized for it, and doing something with it. I haven’t gone to a theater in years, but I’d definitely go to see the Nerd movie. Keep it up, can’t wait for the new video. :)

THIS IS GREAT! remember, the movie will always be good as long as you enjoy making it james. i remember when i first saw AVGN, my brother told me about your videos i think 3 years ago and then showed me your review of friday the thirteenth.

  • September 29, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Did you read what i wrote after the “miss” part?
I guess i’ll have to explain myself better next time.

i just need more AVGN, and maybe i’m just nervous that he’s not gonna be able to keep the same pace as before..

That’s a GREAT idea!! I can’t wait! Good luck man. Use this wesite as evidence of your fanbase and get those tight producers in Hollywood to throw some funding your way. If they can spend 3 million on Buried (Which I liked, but it could have cost aobut a buck fifty) then they can splash some investment on you.

Also, if you haven’t seen Scott Pilgrim VS the World, see it. That is the best video game movie yet, and no one seems to know it exists. Might even give you some inspiration.

I won’t wish you luck. You don’t need it.

I love the nerd, but this new post will be controversal and the nerd will totally understand what I mean. Most things that are translated to movies from games (and such like) do not work, I think James even covered this.
TMNT, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Super Mario, all awful, I really worry about how this could translate to the big screen, p.s. this also applies to once tv characters movie debuts, Bean, Bottom all terrible!!!!!!http://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/index.php?ref=65348

If it hasnt been named, it should be AVGN: Return of the Revenge of the Resurection. I need to see this movie as soon as it comes out (in a movie theatre, on the web, as a dvd, ect, I dont care. As long as I see it I’m happy). Good luck getting it made. That is all.

  • Insertslightlywittynamehere

    October 3, 2010 at 3:30 am

Oh, and by the way, I honestly think it will be really hard to make a review out of et. Atari games, with their short length and bad graphics and sound, are very hard to review. Making a whole 10 minute plus review out of it seems like really hard work, but I bet you could do it. The only reason that makes it stand out from other shit holes of games is its retail flop, gameplay wise there are SOOO many other games that are worse.

Kevin rocks really hard, he is real funny. many of the episodes he is been are funny part because of his acting. I still remember the gremling, the Jocker, and Bugs Bunny… Hahaha, oh man. Please if you make the movie, he has to be in it. By the way I totally understand your position, so take the chance, and good luck.

James I can honestly say that, even though I’ve never met you, you are one of my favorite people on the planet. It’s great how humble you are about everything and that you feel guilty about slowing down the videos.

Seriously man take your time and do what you love. I’m sure the AVGN Movie won’t be done until you think it’s good enough to release. I have a lot of faith in you and I hope the best for you! I love how much confidence you have in the script and I cannot wait to see it! Especially after you compared it to Rocky and Wayne’s World. It sounds like it’s the perfect premise for a AVGN Movie and I really can’t wait. I hope for the best and I think you’re popular enough online to convince a distributor you’re worth a Limited Release at the very least man.

Best of Luck and don’t worry about us wanting more videos all the time! That said though…. MOAR BORED JAMES haha

    For all European fans! :

I can’t believe that the AVGN-Movie, will be in the theatres in the U.S.. For all of James’ other episodes, they’ve been posted to ScrewAttack, and been free to watch. So i believe, that the upcoming movie, will be free to watch aswell.
I am looking very much forward to watch the movie, since I too am a great fan of AVGN.

So i don’t think we should worry about not being able to watch it.

This is awesome. Though if people can request NC to be in it and a fight with him. I would like to formally request NO NC in the movie at all. Tired of NC. That’s all I will say about that.

James, my name is Chris I’ll send you an email about hopefully helping you along with this project. Hope it doesn’t bother you.

I hope you get in the german version of this movie a voice, which isnt too different. I know you only with your voice from your reviews, and if there is a shitty voice in other languages it would disturb the movie.

Holy crap, dog, you gotta make this movie
    I’d love to see it

  • November 1, 2010 at 1:09 pm

Try to do something in the way of Scott Pilgrim, with a bunch of video game and superhero geeky references not just in the soundtrack but also in the special effects. If not, well, try something like Kevin Smith movies (jay and silent bob, mallrats, etc). I think the “dumb and Dumber” and “waynes world” doesnt has the strength that it had at the time and the options i mentioned would be much better.

  • November 22, 2010 at 7:19 pm

hey James, I love your show. i just wanted to let you know, that if you ever need an actor for your movie plan, I’d love to help if i can. I love video games and watching your game review adds humor when i want to watch videos on classic games. I’m not trying to be like everyone else who is bothering you about this, I’m just putting myself out there. also, if you want, you can check out my show on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/user/RoyalFlushP?feature=mhum, to get a good judgment call whether you’d consider me. again, not to be bother or anything. thank you.

Awesome news. I have been a fan for a couple of years now and have spread the word to several friends and family. Your videos are original , smart and hilarious. I look forward to this movie and would gladly support it any way I can. Start a campaign to fund the movie. All I ask is 1% royalties :)

  • December 3, 2010 at 2:05 pm

I’d love to help in any possible way. Even though I am a poor Army guy, I can give a few bucks to production cost or submit ideas. I personally like trying to help people in their endeavors in any way possible be it monetarally, intellectualy, or personally. I am slightly drunk at the moment and cant see my TV which my HTPC is hooked up to but I love the idea of a Nerd movie. I honestly think the Indy way would be great. Think of all the great Indy movies, or just low cost ones at that. Blair Witch, that I thought was great at the time and then was BS once they did a sequel, Clerks, which is probably one of Kevin Smiths greatest films that was low cost, or Saw which was a huge success and who’s profit margin probably contributed to the production of all the following movies of the franchise. I know AVGN has a solid fan base and I would love to be one pee in the huge pod in anyway possible. P.S. I need you to come play Trivia with me James, I need the $100 bar tab so my drunkenness covers me for the night :p. Take care man, and I hope the film i rocks! P.S.S. Some people have seen some success on the bootleg market with people downloading their stuff and donating money if they liked it. Maybe a tease of the movie could help out also. I figure you could do a day worth of filming different parts of the film, doing a day or two of editing, and then putting a torrent up with a donation request and get a lil bit of help.

  • Hallwings

    January 23, 2011 at 1:40 pm

I hope the eventual film is made in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

I mean, obviously, the game footage would look strange in that ratio, but IMHO, 2.35:1 looks more “epic”, and I think this is going to be an epic film (although not a traditional epic, obviously).

Then again, the film could be made in two different ratios (1.85:1 for the game footage, and 2.35:1 for the actual film).

    Looking forward to it, James.

    March 8, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Hey James, good luck to you and the movie. I just want to say that I think the best part about the nerd videos is the history that you provide about the games and consoles. I love the skits and the funny comments too, but just to let you know I really enjoy your explanation of things. It’s kinda weird but I learn more about videogames from watching you review bad games, rather than listening to the guys review good games on gametrailers.com. Like for example, I do not know much about Zelda because I never played any of the games, but watching you give a chronological explanation of the story was a lot more interesting than if I typed in Zelda in google. Of course watching something is better than reading it but bottom line…you know your shit. Best of luck to you.

At least this isn’t like the arrested development movie where we still keep hearing rumors about how MItch Hurwitz is ‘working’ on the script’ wondering if it’s ever going to get finished. You’re serious about this and it’s something you love doing. I have a lot of faith in you James, keep doing what you do!

James, my friends and I have been fans since the TMNT review. That being said, We are also actors who would love to help with this movie. When it comes down to it, would you be holding auditions? For say, “extra” work or “bit” parts? We are huge fans and we would love to audition! If we can’t… then you can count on us being first in line to see it. CINEMASSACRE FUCKIN’ RULES!!!! Thanks for all the laughs, James.

I would definitely sacrifice any videos at all from this point until the movie is finished, although I realize you probably have other stuff you don’t want to put on hold AND I’m sure you’d like to keep some ad revenue from the site going. I have no idea how much that is but I’m sure it’s at least better than nothing.

I hope the AVGN movie gets shown in theaters, that would be awesome! Im a fan of horror movies myself, so when I heard that James wanted to do horror movies too, I was excited about that as well. Wow, this video was made in 2010 and i still remeber how i was hiped, how i really was interested in this movie (unfortunatelly i couldn’t support it because of my interntational borders and, well, by my age). I’m still waiting and i still can’t wait to see this movie. It’s just… i can’t express myself. Take your time, make this the best movie ever made by you. But, most certainly i’ll buy it on DVD (and don’t even dare to not include some deleted scenes or some shots from actual filming!)

  • September 13, 2014 at 6:44 pm

I figured I’d come here to kind of recap the whole journey. It’s truly amazing how this whole thing started as an idea and eventually developed into a bona fide phenomenon!

Having attended one of the premieres (I was at the 2nd showing in Waltham), I can honestly say that the wait was beyond worth it. The movie was fantastic and seeing it in a sold out theater with other AVGN fans was indescribable.

I can’t wait to see the future of Cinemassacre from here!
