People are just getting sick of the "I want AVGN!" comments. He will do them as HE pleases, it's his friggin life. OBVIOUSLY if, as you point out AVGN is his most popular character, most profitable etc, then it is about more than $$$ and ratings. Creative people do not like to be suppressed, AVGN was just one idea that took off more than he could have ever imagined and that is great but it was still just one area of James interests. Personally I love all of James videos including interviews with these B-list stars, hey many people are into B-movie horror to OK? I think James likes the Nerd and knows what it does for him, it is not like he has given up but you know sometimes you need to leave people wanting more, he should not do AVGN JUST for the sake of doing it. So please man, really, we understand your a huge AVGN fan WE GET IT, so am I actually, but you need to let it go.

The reason James doesn't make as many AVGN videos is to keep the quality up. He has great ideas that he likes to throw in and he has a lot to say about each game he reviews. In order for it all to make it into the video he needs to put a lot of time into the project. He also enjoys making these side videos (Interviews, Board James, etc.) and his fans enjoy watching them.
A while ago he made a decision to cut back on the number of AVGN videos in order to keep the production quality up and keep his side projects as well without him sacrificing his free time and sanity. As it was, in order to keep his schedule, he was literally working himself to death. The job he loved, his beloved career in video making was becoming work, a chore. With the new schedule he can keep the quality high, the jokes funny, the diversity strong, and keep his strength and sanity, all at the same time. As fans of his videos, we all agreed to back him and have the patience to wait for the videos instead of forcing him to work like a pack mule through the sahara at the end of a whip.
In other words, we are doing what any good fan base would do, giving him his space and letting him work at his pace so that we may have the privilege of seeing more great videos. Please have the decency to do the same.
@ James
Love the work you've done. I'm always amazed how you can get these interviews, and I think you're pretty amazed as well sometimes, considering how much you appreciate these people.
Never stop following your dreams and doing what you love.

LikeWell apparently I wasn't nice enough in my criticism, because I still got trolled. I don't really think you guys need to "get James' back", he's a big boy and he makes a living off of all of us. A little honest criticism never hurt anyone.
I think there's a question that's begging to be asked: AVGN is easily his highest rated segment, so why wouldn't he make more of them? Honestly I don't mind if James posts a video here or there where he interviews Tom Savini... but am I going to come here for that? No, man. I don't know if you guys knew this or not, but Tom Savini isn't exactly shy with the interviews. He's on the DVD commentary of just about every movie he's worked on.
Judging by the comments alone, AVGN get's 10+ times the hits that these interviews do... so is he ashamed of the nerd or something? Vanilla Ice wouldn't sing Ice, Ice, Baby in concert, and Gary Coleman wouldn't say "Whatchoo talkin about, Willis?" right up until he died. If you're ashamed of the Nerd, somehow, James, please don't be. It's an awesome character and it made you famous. Peter Sellers thought he was above the Pink Panther towards the end of his career, but he recognized his fans and did it anyway.
Anywho, that's enough speculation for me. I'm awaiting the flamers to criticize my polite, well thought out honest-criticism. And really, James, if it's something personal, then just say so and I'll never speak a word of it again.
*Side note: I know I compared you to Vanilla Ice and Gary Coleman, but I also compared you to Peter Sellers, so I think that should balance out.

LikeI have to say, being that I love horror films, I came here for AVGN like most people, buyt I stayed for Cinemassacre as a whole. To tell the truth I've found The Nerd to be very stale lately. It seems obvious to me you don't want to do it, but you either have contractual obljactions with GameTrailers/ScrewAttack or you do it for the fans who come only because of it.
But I really like these interviews/set visits, they're alot more interesting then AVGN since they actully give infomation most people probably don't know, while AVGN does have some infomation on the games that isn't what it's about, unlike these.
No what I'd like to see is for you to interview Kane Hodder!

LikeThe interviews have been good , I check back on a regular basis because I enjoy all the content Rolfe puts out . I even liked the one where he visits the dinosaur from his childhood. The guy is too interesting to be making one type of video all the time and he's proven capable by branching out . Keep up the good work is right !

LikeI know I appreciate all these interviews. I grew up watching these movies, so hearing from the people who helped make them is a real treat. The creativity they had to have to make these movies under the restrictions they had is just astounding, and I try to channel that sort of creativity in my work whenever I can.
Point is, while AVGN is great and all, there's so much more to James than just that. His creativity is great, and watching him interview the very people who most likely inspired him is great in itself. Keep up the good work James.

LikeI really enjoy these interviews. But I have to agree that it's really different from what The Nerd is doing. These interviews are much more intellectually appealing than entertaining. It's pure information. You have to enjoy cinema and culture and be open to new stuff in order to enjoy it. James is doing fiction mixed with information with The Nerd and now he's doing pure journalism as well. You never get too diversified :)

LikeUnlike some people, I really enjoy these interviews and other non-videogame related things.
AVGN, YKWBS? and Board James are great and I'm looking forward to the next episodes, but I'll be patient and enjoy whatever else you present. I have not once regretted watching one of your videos so far and that is not going to change unless you suddenly start exclusively reviewing romantic comedies from the 90's... And not ironically, either.

LikeI enjoy most of the content that James puts up including the interviews. I understand you like his other stuff, but there are many fans who like his interviews too. Maybe not as much as his AVGN character, but we are out there.
Besides, I like how the quality of his AVGN videos have gone up due to the longer production time. They are definitely different then his earlier work, but his guest characters and mini-stories keeps his work interesting. I'm sure if his AVGN videos was weekly it would have to stick with a formula and had become boring.

LikeI disagree with Drew and deerslayer. I enjoy these interviews. While I haven't seen nearly as much classic horror as I should, these interviews and location-hunting vids fascinate me. As an aspiring filmmaker myself, it's neat to learn how they did these effects. Good job, James!

LikeI have to agree with DrewCSchultz, this is not nearly as good or as entertaining as AVGN or Board James or Monster Madness. I come here for entertainment, not to watch interviews, while those can be entertaining, they just aren't. Please spend more time producing material for your fans.
Kind regards,
Deerslayer

LikeMr. Rolfe,
I understand you probably get bored with AVGN, and would like to spend your time on other things. Problem is, that's not really why we come here, as you can see by the lack of comments on the page here. I do not mean to sound like a troll, because by all accounts I'm complimenting you. I check your website more than I check my premium cable package for shows... I like AVGN THAT MUCH. If you are bored with it (as I think you may have hinted at in an earlier video where you said you were going to be doing less Nerd), I understand, but a lot of people tune in just for that. I'm telling this as a big fan: I don't think the majority of us are really interested in you interviewing D-List celebs. We just want to see you do what made you so famous. Again, please don't think me a troll, I just need my nerd-fix.
Thanks,
Drew

Such a shame Duane Jones has passed, would love to hear his opinion on the movie, especially since he was cast as a lead in a time where not many african americans were cast in such a manner.
